There are a lot of places to get coffee in Bowling Green, Ohio. So, I believe the independent shops must bring something to the competition, or they wouldnt be around anymore. This establishment is in the downtown strip, there is street parking and parking behind the buildings (though, I do not know if there is a public back entrance).I stopped by around 9 or 10 on a Saturday morning and there were tons of people in line. (This is Summer, when college is not in session). I opted to go for breakfast elsewhere and try back later.I stopped by again around 3pm and there was no waiting. The service area appeared clean and orderly, & the staff was helpful. They offer a wide range of coffee and espresso based beverages. They offer a selection of pastries and a few different cheesecakes by the slice. The seating area has the feel of a new & used bookstore or a library. The house coffee was ok. 3pm on a hot and humid day might not be the best day to judge quality of hot coffee. Ill probably check them out again later this week. So, I went back a few days later, during the week, around noon. They had more brewed coffees to choose from. I chose the Fireside blend and splurged on a berry cheesecake. Both were very good! The service was still top notch.

Stopping on our way home was necessary I missed a good Latte!, a little detour really paid off. I found a gem of a coffee place.I believe it was a Special the Venetian, it was delightful! The service was friendly and informative. Vanilla ice cream for my little friend received great reviews as one of her best treats on the trip! The gem was being in a book store filled with so many options. I had a mission to send a postcard, map or small flag from different places in the USA 🇺🇸. It is a class project to, which I must mail to the fourth grade class in Colorado, it wasnt an easy task. Grounds For Thought, had the maps iin a random basket for sale. Yeah! Mission complete and relief of maps found.I will return to spend more time looking. I was refreshed and left home happily ever after. Road trips can be tiring but this gem is worth the stop! I wish I couldve stayed a little longer. Thank you Grounds For Thought, Youre a Gem!

Loved this cafe! I cant wait to come back when COVID isnt a problem. The latte I got was the Marilyn Monroe, it was pretty good. I also tried the Hot Cocoa cheesecake, (it was delicious,) and a sprinkle donut, which was amazing! Besides the cafe, the shop had really nice products, lots of good ideas for gifts. As for COVID precautions, I felt okay at the front entrance. Everyone is wearing a mask and the store felt clean. The back entrance gets tight in the little hallway, so I would recommend the front if you can to better social distancing.

A legacy well-earned in a university town, Grounds is the rare & friendly time capsule of a cafe with all of the best elements one imagines for that type of establishment... It is quite sincerely unique in that it will conjure up those elements that are equally magical & authentic for the past & present denizens of Bowling Green University, whether a new arrival on campus or an alumnus from 30 years ago.Part book shop, part vinyl record store, with healthy vibrant doses of political & cultural activity, topped off as an easygoing meeting place and performance venue. And always the welcoming, inspiring, glowing cafe with exceptional coffee & tea variations, and a comforting spectrum of baked victuals, Grounds For Thought would have taken hold and been just as inspirational in 19th century Vienna as it remains here today in NW Ohio.Take the time to savor this genuine experience in this quiet under-assuming bakery-cafe.

This is one of my favorite spots in Bowling Green, Ohio! I always make an effort to go when I am in town. I would highly suggest any of their specialty lattés with whipped cream as well as the peach tea that they have. They have records, comic books, and a regular books on display (and for sale). The best to describe it is as serviceable. The pastries are excellent, you could spend all day looking thru their shelves (theyre a bookstore/record store) and never feel like their selection is lacking. I would rank it as mighty as possible because their quirkiness is great but the coffee could definitely be better.

Great cafe. The place is much larger than it looks! This is an ice cream shop, bookstore, cafe, bakery, game room, and hang out spot all rolled into one. A good place to be with friends, but a little hard to find a quiet spot on the weekends. Might recommend a library if that is what you need. Musical acts, stand-up, and spoken word are all welcome from what I heard. I would recommend this place. The only reason it isnt five stars is because the prices are a little too high for my poor soul, and the service was a little slow.

Grounds for Thought is Bowling Greens central coffee hub and book store. They have a large indoor space with lots of tables, tons of books, comics, local crafts, pastries, ice cream and a wide variety of coffee. They also host events and sometimes have live music, open mic nights and craft markets. Various groups come here to play DnD or board games and to hold club meetings. Tables can be reserved for this or any other purpose. It really is the community hub for the town.

This coffee/book shop is very unique. They serve baked goods, sandwiches, as well as various coffees and teas. The vegetarian sandwich was very nice and oddly filling (in a good way). There is plenty of seating and an area to play tabletop games. Also a myriad of used books that create a very homey atmosphere. It reminds me of the library in downtown Halifax, NS. That was an awesome library...Staff is welcoming, helpful, kind, and efficient. They are knowledgeable about food allergies (yay!) and provided me with options that would be safe to eat. I love coming here to get away from the hustle and bustle to study, enjoy a hot beverage and relax. Highly recommended!
