Cambridge Bicycle has really been coming through for me lately. I patronize a lot of bike shops in the area, and while others are shifting to appointment only and extending their lead times on repairs, Cambridge Bicycle still allows walk-ins and provides quicker turnaround times than others. As someone with a fair amount of bike knowledge (but certainly not as much as their mechanics), I appreciate that they are willing to have a discussion about the repair, and tailor the conversation based on the customers background knowledge. They do not try to take advantage of people by automatically going with the most expensive or involved repair option. A+ to their service team.

I didnt even buy or service a bike here, rather I just randomly went in and asked for advice about a used bike I was about to buy off of Marketplace. The man I talked to gave me 10+ minutes of his time and explained in detail why I shouldnt buy the bike for my purposes, even though he knew I wasnt bringing in business at the moment. Consistent with a lot of the reviews here, I found the people here to be helpful and caring. The place is pricy, but it seem thats because they sell quality bikes. I would recommend this place!

I bought a bike from Cambridge Bicycle and have had some service done with them. Their prices are competitive and their work quality is good. The other day, they made a mistake on some service on my bike that could’ve ended up costing me a lot more money. The shop rectified the situation, and really showed high integrity. They could’ve very easily not done this, but I really appreciated their professionalism and class. I will continue to have my service done at Cambridge Bicycle in the future!

Cambridge Bicycle is hands down the best bike shop in the Camberville area! The staff is always super knowledgeable, polite, and willing to help with any bicycle needs. Their stock of bikes currently turns really fast as bike supplies across the country are selling faster than stock can come in from overseas, this is a problem all bike shops are having right now with manufacturing delays due to the pandemic. Luckily, Cambridge bike also does custom builds as well as rebuilds on old bikes so there is definitely a way to get you riding even if a new bike isnt currently in stock. They carry some great brands of bikes and accessories, service department is top notch, and they value positive customer experiences and relationships over just making a sale like some bike shops seem to be around here.I 100% recommend Cambridge Bicycle to anyone in Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, etc! They are the epitome of a GREAT and honest neighborhood bike shop.

What I appreciated most about Cambridge Bicycle was how they were a bunch of bike enthusiasts who gave me great advice that was in my best interest, not theirs. I came to them originally because they had Marin Bicycles. While the bike I was looking at was great, I ended up finding another while there that I liked even more. Taylor and Rob were patient with me, and encouraged me to try a handful until I found the one I liked. Both Taylor and Rob spent a bunch of time with me answering questions, but without pressure.I needed to think overnight, and called back the next day. Spencer helped me place the order over the phone, and was very helpful. The bike mechanics, including Arlo who I worked with, came out to the floor to give advice and help answer questions. They ended up having the perfect bike in stock, and giving me great advice on a few accessories I had been looking for.Lastly, I was giving my bike to a friend who needed it, but it needed some work done. They offered great advice on what to do to that bike to get it in riding shape again for my fiend.5 stars. Ill be coming here for years to come!

Abyssmal service.I brought my Cannondale in after learning they were an Authorized Cannondale Retailer, hoping to help out my local bike shop. I needed a cable replaced, the cables routed, and they further recommended that the front wheel and headset bearing get replaced. I agreed, and awaited their call. A week later, nothing. Two weeks; nothing. I called and visited; no progress. Finally, five weeks after dropping it off, I asked them what they had accomplished so far; they had done none of the work. They claimed Cannondale werent getting back to them with parts (a call to Cannondale confirmed they were open for business and shipping parts, and had been the entire time). Yet another week later (six weeks in total), they called me to come pick up my bike. They STILL had failed to replace the bearings. So six weeks to replace one cable and route two others.

I asked her where can I ask a question about repairs and she pointed me in the right direction. I repair guy assisted me with some issues the bike had with the front brakes. I couldnt figure it out and was at the point of returning the bike. He took the bike and spent no more than 3 to 5 minutes. He then showed me the bike and I saw that he fixed the brakes. He took the time to explain what I had done incorrectly. I asked him - how much I owed him and he said there was no charge. I felt so relieve because I didnt have to go take the bike apart and put it back in the box. Returned it and then order another one or exchange it at the store for one that I wasnt going to like. He made it possible for my little brother to have a bike for Christmas morning. I thank him and walked away with peace of mind. Instead, they took my whole bike, replaced the tube without telling me and charged me a $20 service fee (which I never would have accepted if they had told me a price estimate since I can fix my tires myself). When I went to check out, they were having system outage problems, so I waited in the store for another 15 minutes. They finally called me to the front and had me pay using square, but couldnt provide a receipt.I left the store and my axle was broken and my ball bearings fell out of my wheel hub. I dont know if my axle was already broken or if they broke it while repairing my bike tire (although I had no problems before I went into the store). Even if they werent the ones who broke it, I was profoundly annoyed that no one noticed it or said anything to me about it.The store managers were friendly and polite, but no politeness can make up for the incompetence of the staff working in the repair shop. Bought a bike at a reasonable price, though I had to push to get the salesperson to show me the cheaper tier of bikes. I then had to take the bike in 3 times in the next 3 months. First because a seat broke (I ended up with two stitches) then twice for the same flat tire. Turns out they had replaced the tube but missed the embedded metal splinter that caused the leak in the first place. They didnt charge for the new seat, and only charged for the part on the second time I got my tire replaced. Ultimately, be careful of how well the bike has been assembled, but they take responsibility when a problem is their own, so Im giving a fairly good review.

I am their customer for 15 years. However, my recent experience with them was very disappointing. Unfortunately they are overcharging, double charging and very untrustworthy.(1) They replaced the kickstand for $12.70. Then few days later it became very lose-I felt it needs to tight the screws. Since I do not have repair tools, I brought the bike back to the store. There was an Asian woman in the front desk and she took a tool and forcefully screwed the nails and said It is OK now. At that moment it was fine but just few hours later when I first attempted to use the kickstand, it was not working and it was very lose again. I did not have a time to take the bike to the store immediately. Next week I took my bike to the store. The guy took my bike behind the desk and wanted to find out what the problem was. I said it was a new kickstand since this store replaced it 10 days ago. He took out the kickstand and replaced with a new one. I was hoping that it was their excuse and free to charge if it has ever needed a replacement of the parts or fixing since it was completely related with their earlier repairs. After putting a new kickstand he said It was broken; I replaced it and wanted me to pay another $12.70. I was very upset. How come it could be broken, even I did not use it since it was very loose and their employee tighten the nail. If it was broken, their employee should be responsible. He just ignored me and constantly saying the same thing: The kickstand was broken; I changed it He did NOT show me where the crack or break was; and NOT return my old kickstand. I paid another $12.70 in order to take my bike from his hand. Since then I decided not to go there for any kind of repairs other than buying the bike parts when I needed. (2) Today I went there to buy one barrel for my brake. The guy find out one from the bike garbage and sold it to me for $3.19 (On the Internet, 10 new barrels was for $6.50 ; Thus .65 cents for one barrel). Interesting the owner was there and he told the cashier $2.50 but the cashier (The guy with strange holo earrings) picked the price from his gut whatever the number came to his mind. In summary, I do not trust them anymore. I wont go there. Be aware!

I came in yesterday and the quote was cheaper than what they charged today for the same, exact chain. Cambridge Bike Shop should be clearer on the prices for customers and its unfair to make them overpay when they dont have to... If I were to do it again, I would have bought the parts online - its much cheaper. If you want them to fix it, then theyre ok to go to. I only went because it was in a convenient location. I felt like it was not fair that they didnt give me a clearer expectation of my quote today and wouldnt budge with changing the price at all (which they can do because Ive been here several times before). Some staff members also seem to judge you if you think their prices are too high. I have been meaning to be a good citizen and write this review since last year and finally got a chance:They suggested that the chain on my bike be replaced because it was rusty. I agreed. When I left, the chain broke literally across the street at the gas station and I was injured (deep scratches on one side of my body). I returned one minute later and asked for a first aid kit. They fixed the broken chain and told me that they were not going to charge me (again!) for the replacement chain. The apology came much later when I asked to talk to the manager. He initially said that he stood by the judgement of his employees. He finally realized the level mess-up and only then he offered to return my money for the chain. No mention of fixing the hit my bike took when I fell! I had made an appointment for a tune-up later that week, I asked not to have the same employee do the tune-up because I had lost trust in him. And he agreed. I had to deal with the injury, go to the doctor and spend on the ointments, etc the next few weeks and ended up never going back there again because of the low standards of professionalism and safety there. There were other things that they messed up that day, which seem minor compared to the chain drama; I initially went there to fix a flat, they told me that I did not need to change the tube and just needed to inflate. I had to return when I got a flat again two blocks away (that is when I decided to chain the chain too). Another bad judgement that could be avoided if they had done some sort of an easy test. Im sure if they pressed the tire for a few seconds, they could have figured that out.

Two weeks ago, I had a loud cracking noise coming from my back wheel, the mechanic at Cambridge Bicycle persuaded me the bottom bracket had to be replaced in order to fix the issue. After leaving the bike with them for 2 weeks, the bike still was not fixed. On the phone I was told that they had not yet received the replacement bracket. When I went into the store the next day, the mechanic told me that the bracket is here, but the repair has to wait for other shorter repairs to get done first. I shall come back in two days. Only after I talked to the manager and explained to him how long I have been waiting for my bike, they started the repair on the bike. The bike got a new bottom bracket installed which was supposed to fix the cracking noise. To release my bike I paid $75 for the parts and repair. The repair had now caused new issues: the belt was slipping off and the brakes did not work anymore, emitting loud squeaking noises. Pointing this out to the mechanic, he then hammered on the spindle in the hope to shift it further in, which did not resolve the issue. He then told me that I need to buy a new belt and a new front driver. Talking to the manager, who says of himself that he is not a mechanic, he asked me if they did the job that they were paid for and if I did not like it I should come back another day next week. The other issues about belt slipping and brakes not working are not caused by them. So I had to bring my bike to another repair shop to understand what was actually going with all those new problems that did not allow me to use the bike at all anymore. The other repair shop determined that the belt did not get tensioned by the mechanic at Cambridge Bicycle and they thought the cracking noise comes from the back wheel. The mechanic found oil on the front and back brake pads, so I had to buy new ones to replace both. After spending another $25 on parts and getting the belt tensioned, I am now back to where I started with a cracking noise from the back wheel.I visited Cambridge Bicycle again this morning in the hope they can resolve the cracking noise, another mechanic looked swiftly at the issue and adjusted the belt tension to a lower level again. For now it is not cracking anymore, lets hope it stays that way and it finally resolved the issue. It is good that in the end another mechanic helped me out and took his time to address the actual issue.

Do not go to this shop! Here is what happened to me. I took my bike to replace the brakes and the axis that connected the paddles to the bike were a bit loose, but totally functional. So I asked then to replace it. After a few days without any news I passed by the shop to know if the bike was fixed. First they had lost my inscription and their system was down. So I had to wait half an hour for them to find my bike. Then they told me they had broke the bike and could not fix it. The axis to which the paddles are attached had been broken and got stuck inside it. They said they might fix it but they would have to use a torch to melt the thing. However this would cost me by the minute... I told them I was not interested. Then they wanted to charge me for the time they spent breaking my bike. I told them I would not pay for that service, since i had not ordered it and left the broken bike there for them to enjoy.
