This place is AMAZING!I’m so picky when it comes to danish and pasties. After moving from NYC, I’ve tried multiples of “Boston’s best bakeries’ pastries” in different neighborhoods and after 2 years of many good ones, I found the BEST pastries, especially their Almond Croissant! I can’t wait to go back.
I’ve eaten at area four maybe 1,000 times over the past 10 years that I’ve lived in Cambridge. Their drinks are excellent and I love the breakfast sandwiches - all homemade from the English muffin up. You gotta try the classic sausage egg and cheese! When the cafe is open they have a great vibe with vintage movies playing. Anyone who rates them low for slow service obviously doesn’t appreciate that quality food and bevs take time to craft. We love you A4!
Name is A4 Cafe, in a separate space from the Area Four restaurant. But in the Toast app it is listed under “Area Four Kendall Square” so you can’t find it by searching under “A4 Cafe”They make their own pastries! They look great, but I haven’t tried them yet.Mocha is 12 oz with full double shot but I like 8 oz of milk so I ordered with a note to “leave room”Friendly barista suggested I order cappuccino and add a note to add chocolate.
The coffee and pastries are good but the service has ALWAYS taken forever. Even currently when its extremely quiet, somehow its still a glacial pace... Dont stop by to grab a quick coffee to go, youll stand around forever wondering if they forgot about your order and be late back to work.
This is one of those places that you basically pay to serve yourself. First they dont take your order, you have to use a tablet then if you get a bagle you have to put the cream cheese on it yourself then make your coffee too. I dont know about you but when I go to get breakfast and coffee I think Im paying to have the staff make my order for me. So this place gets my one time business and a no thanks after today. Other wise what I ordered tasted good.
