Nice local shop and knowledgeable staff. The reason Im giving 4 stars is that wait times for repairs can be long (almost a week to get a derailleur adjusted) and I wish they had a larger selection of mountain bikes under $3000. But they are honest and prices on repairs are very reasonable.

I brought my wife’s bike to hilltop bicycles in Cranford for repair. I thought she needed two new tires and tubes. Instead of trying to get me to replace both tubes and tires, the maintenance tech was honest and said it only needed tubes. While I anticipated leaving the bike and coming back another day to pick it up, they performed the repairs right on the spot. I would gladly go back to hilltop because their customer service was excellent, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Most importantly I felt the price was fair.

*UPDATE* Bait and switch bike shop. Bought a bike online to pick up in store with confirmed payment and then told it sold just before. Poor customer service. Not many alternatives if they actually do have the bike you want, but would choose elsewhere. Definitely dont use this place once supply is back. Their claim that my credit card was not legitimate is ridiculous and further evidence that this business to not reputable. Also, why on earth would you offer to sell other bikes to someone if you thought their credit card was stolen? And why on earth would I ever patronize your business after making such a libelous claim against me? Really weird business.

I really thought this was going to be the worst review a business could receive. I had a warranty issue with a new ebike, after twelve days in the store with no fix insight I reached out to the owner of hilltop bicycles. Iwas prepared for a long battle. Much to my amazement he responded back in minuets, it gets better because the entire issue was resolved two hours later. I do realize especially in these trying times that itdoesn’t happen like this normally. But I’m so pleased with how my experience ended that I had to share myvery real story with others. I previously had a horrible experience with an online bike retailer that took my money and never responded or delivered my bike. In a last ditch effort to get myself a new set of wheels I contacted the warehouse over at Hilltop to inquire about availability and pricing.The gentleman who spoke to me on the phone was absolutely phenomenal. Patient, knowledgeable and sharp - I wouldn’t doubt it if it was the owner himself.Long story short I ended up buying a Giant Fathom 2 from these guys and fell absolutely in LOVE with the bike. Called a bunch of bike shops in the surrounding area and nobody was taking repairs same day and we’re even rude on the phone . Called Hilltop Bicycles, said to come drop off the bike and they’d try to replace my flat same day. The guy who helped me was really helpful and informative. He mentioned how I’d do better with different handles which made a big difference on my next ride. Highly recommend this place for their awesome and fast service with a friendly attitude!

Top notch service and sales. Bought two bicycles from them and they had them assembled and ready to roll before expected. They went out of their way to try to find fenders for the one bike. Needed a couple of adjustments and they set the bike up perfectly. Needed a bike box to return a bike purchased elsewhere and they even had an empty box for me. Great shop and people.

Bought my first MTB here few months ago and went back for a tune up and to upgrade my brakes, Eric, who is working on my bike is super helpful and made some great suggestions. Staff is super friendly and they will point you in the right direction if you ask for advice.

Brought my bike in for a $140 tune up. Everything was fine except for the brakes that screeched so loudly they woke up my neighbors. Thought a $140 tune up would cover this, apparently not. Store said i could come in for repair. Thanks, hauling bike in car back for repairs that should have already been done, unacceptable.

Hilltop bicycles is a wonderful local chain of full service shops servicing the first time to the most experienced riders. An inventory of well rounded bike selections is on hand along with all the goodies to cap the experience from hydration to safety to tools, and all the gear in between. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff can aid with pairing riders to the most appropriate ride, also offering service, repair and advice. Priced very fairly they offer a no pressure atmosphere that adds a level of comfort that the big chains and box stores cant match. As a 40+ year rider Im annoyed that I didnt find them sooner but now that I have its always worth the trip for the peace of mind from having like minded people on my side. Thanks Hilltop, Ill be back!

I picked up my bike from hilltop yesterday - tune up cost around $40. Point is, I didn’t drop a lot of $$$ there. I couldn’t fit my bike in my car, so a staff member rode my bike home for me. She refused to take a dime. That’s customer service!

My son kept blowing out his rear tire and I needed a permanent fix. They found a tire that would fit for a reasonable price and changed it out on the spot. No upsale, no nonsense. Kid is on the road and I hope to not have to switch out his tube monthly!

Ive known Tommy for more than 25years (glad he stayed on) and Mark almost as long. Craig is relatively new but very nice and an excellent mechanic. With these three at the helm you cant go wrong. As far as actual experiences, I took one of my road bikes there last night with some front shifting issues. Mark put it right up in the stand and fixed it in 10-15 minutes! The cost was more than fair to boot! What more is there to say? Oh, yeah they have a smoking selection of bikes as well!

If you have a EBike which is pretty common these days dont even try going to this place. Would not even fix a simple flat tire. Tried to give a local business my money but they just told me no.unless of course the bike was bought through them $$$$ Cycle Craft in Parsippany it is. Farther away and a hassle to get to but obviously they cater to ALL customers.Reply to owner, It is true. I was there today 1/13/20 and was turned away because it was an ebike. If you do the repairs then you need to inform your employees.

Unquestionably some of the best service I have ever encountered in a bike shop. Willing to discuss purchases from a price-quality perspective, the guys in this shop dont do hard sell but provide the best advice from their own substantial knowledge base of everything related to bikes and biking. I always find the right bikes for the family here and the stuff they sell is genuinely helpful for riding and not just gimmicky. My kids loved how they were treated too.

What a nice guys you can find here! I left my bike at Dicks on route 22 and after 10 days, they did not even get a look on it, so I decided to get it back. I went to Hilltop Bicycles and immediately I received service and in less than 5 minutes I got my bike working back again. The guy refused to check me for his help and I refused to leave without expressing all my gratitude so at least he accepted to receive a pizza slice from the next door business. Thanks again Greg!

We just relocated from LA and I’ve been riding for many years and been to quite a few bike shops. I had the best service I’ve experienced in a bike shop a few days ago at HB. I took my 4 year old daughters “Shimmer N Shine” bike in to get a replacement tire tube and they treated it like it was a Cervelo. They were quick and happy to help change the tube on the spot. They have a great selection of road/hybrid/mountain bikes and gear. I’ll be taking my bike in for a tune-up today when they open.

I dont usually write review cuz I think there is nothing need to be mention since I m dat kind of go-pay-go person. However, I deiced to write this review to let you know what good experience you will get from them. The review is going to be very long tho...I went to 3 bike shops before Hilltop. And dat were 3 very bad experiences tbh. I do MTB a lot but I have no idea about road bike. So I did my research before I go to a bike shop(both the shop and bike). The reason why I choose LBS is that build a good relationship with them will benefit me in the long run. Even I did my research before I go I still need to know it is the bike shop that I can really trust in the long run. So I always start the opening with I wanna buy my first road bike, could you please help me get one? The first shop tried to sell $3000 bike to a beginner like me and dat was the cheapest one they introduced. The second one lied to me about they have the model(which they dont) I am asking and waste me 1 hour driving time. The third one was the worst...They tried to sell a used bike as new to me. However, I did my research and notice the model they tried to sell me is 2017 model even they told me its the newest model(The newest model is 2019) and I also noticed there were heavy scratches on the wheel and frame(both are impossible for a new bike). In general, my experience was so fking damn bad. Maybe cuz I am foreigner so they think they can rip me off? idkHilltop was the last one I decided to try. I was going to order my bike online if Hilltop failed me like 3 other bike shops. I am so glad they did not fail me at all. Erin was the one who helped me get my bike. Even my broken English cannot stop her help me find the right bike. I start the opening ask for help even I know which one(at that moment) I am looking for... She asked me about the reason I want a road bike and introduced cheap one for me cuz I am a beginner. I feel something different intermediately cuz it seems like she does hear and care what I said. So I told her my real budget and the brand I am looking for. Then she introduced 2 bikes which are on my Purchase list. Things go very smoothly and happy. However, they dont have the size that I wanted so she placed a new order for me. She also spent a lot of time explaining what I will get and help me find accessories.Well...after I went back home I suddenly regret the bike I just ordered and wanna exchange to another same price bike. So I called them to cancel my original order exchange to another bike. No problem at all. They did it for me and put a tag on a new bike which is in stock to make sure they dont sell it.So I went to Hilltop today again and I consider I was a trouble maker..in fact, I feel so bad being a trouble maker. I dont really mean to but cuz 3 very bad experiences I had...Its really hard for me to trust another bike shop dat easy cuz everything went just too smoothly...I ask them to order a new one with the same size and color cuz the 3rd bike shop experience is still hunting me. I did check the bike hang on the wall multiple times and I m sure its new...but I just cant pass the feeling. Its hard to describe but you will understand if you have the same bad experience like me. My request is not reasonable tbh and I did not expect a positive answer from them. However, even they do not know why I insist order new one rather than get the one in stock(I didnt tell my bad experiences to them). They did it for me. Erin just called someone make sure its OK for me to order new one even they have one in stock. And now, I am writing my first review and waiting for my new bike : )This is my whole bike experience in Hilltop Bicycles. From what I experienced...this is the one you can trust in the long run. Simple rear brake bleed $37! on top of that bike was mint when left but when it was picked up frame was all nicked with a huge chunk missing. I dont have time to deal with a place like this. They lost a customer but hey they have others. one star because rear brake works..reply from owner riddled with fake news.. plenty of other qualifed shops. lesson learned double / triple check your equipment before leaving. just posting my experience. moving on.

I had a flat tire. Prices were high, but that was expected. My tire was fixed but the customer service was poor. They said that a brand new bike which my family had bought had many problems with it, and we needed to pay $80 to fix it. Could a brand new bike really have that many problems?
