We are so thankful to Rettig for helping us with our first instrument experience. It was fast, easy, and they were so friendly!
The service at Rettig was phenomenal! We had a bit of a string emergency on my daughters violin, so we called Rettig to check their hours, and even though they were a little past store closing time, Abbi, the store manager, allowed us to come in after hours so she could fix it for us! Abbi was so kind and accomodating, and really went above and beyond! We were so pleased with the amazing service, and how kind she was! Would highly recommend going to Rettig for any instrument needs.
I have always received excellent service from the staff at Rettig Music. Theyre helpful, informative and willing to go the extra mile with any questions. Ive been going to them for almost 37 years at both their Dublin and Defiance locations.
These guys and gals are GREAT! As a super busy hard working single mother...I zipped in...told them that I was in a rush....and they got what I needed lined up really quickly. They were all very helpful in person and when I had called on my phone. They have a really nice variety of things also from which to choose. :)
If you have had ANY financial dings during this time of COVID, dont consider Rettig. They will reject your rental application and rush off the phone before actually attempting to help. I was referred back to the email for other options. Columbus Percussion is MUCH more accommodating for families that need real Customer Service to get Rentals for their new, young musicians during these difficult times.
This past Saturday at the OMEA Solo & Ensemble competition, I brought my daughters flute to them to have it repaired. They told me it couldnt be repaired right then, and offered to let her use the flute they had on display to compete with. They were gracious and kind throughout the day, and we chose to have her instrument repaired through them.
I recently bought a new bow for my violin. Due to some very unfortunate circumstances, I had broken the shaft on my old bow awhile back and just bought a cheap one as a stand in. I am not a very skilled player or anything, but the cheap one just didnt feel or play right. At the store, I was allowed to test out different bows on a violin they had in stock. They were very patient as I am very slow in deciding. I am very happy with the bow I ended up with (the bow is weighted so much better) and it was a surprisingly reasonable price for how good it is.
My daughter, soon entering high school, was interested in upgrading from her entry level trumpet. The folks at Rettig Music of Dublin were very helpful. They laid out many trumpet models and a corner of the store for her to play each instrument. Abbi and Dan were not in the least bit pushy in the process and let my daughter whittle down the options to the trumpet that fit her style and ear best. I cant thank the folks at Rettig Music of Dublin enough.
I rented a trombone from them for my daughter. We moved at the end of the school year and she decided she did not want to continue learning the trombone. I have been calling every month for them to take the trombone back. They assure me that it will be taken care of but then I am charged again the next month. The manager is rude, when I talked to her she said she refused to go down this road with me, what ever that means and that it was not their responsibility. This company was recommended by the band director but I highly recommend finding somewhere else.
Stay away from them. They will keep on taking your money even though you have already paid the full cost of the instrument in the form of rent. They will never inform you that your rent has already covered the full cost of the instrument. I was paying the rent every month and it crossed the full cost by $200 and they never told me. One day my neighbor said they have already got the letter from the store that their rent has already covered the cost so you dont have to pay the rent any more (They rented from a different store). I will advice look for some other store.
Questionable business practices, rented an instrument for four and a half months. The final half month was 12/16/19-1/4/17, they billed us for the entire month (understandable). The problem was that they sent us a statement on 1/17 and knew we returned the instrument so they put a notice that if we don’t pay the bill within 10 days we would be sent to collections. Keep in mind we had been current for the 4 previous months. We wrote the check and sent the full amount (within 30 days) and they in-fact sent us to collections and added another $20.00 dollars to the amount due. They weren’t willing to work with us at all. Be careful dealing with this company, they will get one over on you...
Go with C. A. House.
I have been a devoted client and fan of Rettig Music instruments and repair for 3 years now. Having 2 kids in band and 7 instruments between them, Abigail(Abbi) and Eric have become like family to us. We have rented to own and outright purchased instruments. Both ways were extremely easy and affordable. Anytime weve needed an adjustment or fix, its done the same day or by the next! Service like this is exceptional! I have recommended several people to them and everyone has had the same stellar service that I have mentioned. Keep doing what youre doing, we love you!
Good service, friendly staff.
Very poor customer service. I had to call over 5 times to have a simple issue resolved. I would recommend using a different music store.
I have been doing business with Retting for about 5 years and they are very good people. Their prices are reasonable. My daughter has always been able to get resin, her violin serviced and bow replaced with no problem. Thanks Retting for making this an awesome experience for our family!
Worst experience with the store. Does not take care of defective equipment during warranty period They take months to get the resolution. When ever you call them, always gets a response saying manager/owner is not here. They dont even bother you calling back. They tell you to all back again. I made a mistake of dealing with this store with out looking into other store Music and Arts. Today I went to Westerville store to buy step up Flute. It was very good experience -- big store with lots of choices and MANAGER is there all the times. Also, they have 4 stores in Columbus area. Prices are very competitive. Its worthwhile visiting Music and Arts stores.
Rettig Music is a joke! I went to rent instruments for both of my kids and I was denied due to credit! Wow in order for kids to get acquainted with the music program they better have good credit! The whole process is bs because I paid cash and now I have to wait 5 to 7 days in order to get my money back which I need to use for another rental from a place that dont care about credit! Go figure! Rettig is basically for the upper echelon and basically cut out hard working parents who want to introduce their kids to music!
HORRIBLE experience. We decided not to purchase their maintenance plan, so they gave my child a defective baritone. When the band director sent it back to the store for repair or replacement, Rettig confiscated it rather than repair it. To add insult to injury, they continued to cash our payment checks while my child sat in band class, bored and without an instrument for months. I highly recommend musicians AVOID THIS COMPANY! Ive known people to buy instruments for much less on eBay and have a better experience! This is my third student musician and my first (and LAST) time using Rettig. Weve never experienced frustration like this from any of the other providers. Warn your school band directors not to recommend Rettig!
Great service, exceptional staff. Prices are on par or slightly better.
Fantastic service, great prices. Very informational and friendly employees . Will definitely purchase from them again.
Took 20 minutes to get repairs done. Very fast. Great, cozy, atmosphere!
I went in to have my bari sax repaired after recieving it through the mail. I specified that two of the keys didnt align right so E + D were more air than actual tone, and one of the guards were bent out of shape. I was okay with up to sixty dollars of repair on my horn. The woman behind the register wrote it down on the repair tag and took it away.I get a call a couple of days later and find out I need new pads, a bunch of keys aligned, and dents rolled out for between 100 - 120 dollars. I told the woman on the phone I didnt need the dents rolled out and was shocked at the price increase. She then told me it would be a hundred dollars and I was okay with it. Two days later I go and pick it up to find out my horn still didnt work. I specified that I wanted the D key fixed, as stated above, and they return it to me with it still not repaired. Lovely, just lovely. And then I take it back so they can fix it, and went to pick it up today to find out THEY STILL DIDNT FIX THE PROBLEM I WANTED FIXED IN THE FIRST PLACE. They then proceeded to tell me I only okayed up to $100 of work and it didnt include what I wanted fixed in the first place. They didnt end up charging me for the second visit, but I still had problems with that D note. Not taking my horn here again.
Only giving them one star because I cant give them zero. I tried to rent an instrument for my daughter, after a week of run-around I decided to go somewhere else. Terrible to work with!
One of the worst decisions I have made, I guess I should not have taken the schools advice with this purchase.

Rettig Music failed to deliver a lyre and flip folder I purchased in August of 2016 and after several efforts to contact them they have still not returned my emails, delivered the purchase, or refunded me.
