I am a big fan of this family owned and operated store. From the freshly made vegetable juice to the holistic products it is always a treat to pop in and learn and taste!
I am so grateful for this health food store and what it offers to the Consumer in Products that are not normally found in other establishments.I am 70 years old now and all of Macy’s has been in business for over 40 years. Even though they have new owners the business continues to be top notch anything a person needs for their health and well-being. And the store owners are always willing to order things if they do not have it on the shelves. Thank you so much for still being in business and a place I can go to to get products that I can’t find anywhere else unless I order them online. God bless you all
Bought Some Dr Bronners Pepper Soap In The Gallon For $60 & I Happened To Have Another Bottle At My House & Made Comparisons & It Turns Out That a The Soap I Bought from Them Is Fake. Doesn’t Smell Like Peppermint, Doesn’t Give You That Mint feeling Like The Real One Would. I’ve Been Buying That Soap For Years So I Know The One They sold Me Is Fake & It Has A Water Like Texture Instead Of The Natural Thicker Texture That’s The Real One Has.
I like shopping where people are knowledgeable about their products and helpful with their customers we need more stores like this one every in every neighborhood..👍🏾
I Have shopped at Olive May for at least twenty years. Friendly, congenial, knowledgeable and helpful associates. Some items pricey.
Great store, Great service, very knowledgeable
Food grade aloe, Tea Tree oil, 99% acohol makes a good hand sanitizer.
FAVE PLACE FOR MY HEALTH AND BEAUTY NEEDS
This is a great local store and I highly recommend it. The staff is amazing and they have a vast selection of organic and healthy foods. In fact, the only places that rival their inventory are online. Fantastic experience.
Its a great health food store. My mother use to take me there as a kid, but their customer service isnt a great as it use to be. They need a better attitude when it comes to dealing with customers.
They rushed me out as the store was closing. Even though I am literally shopping there, to give them my business, and my money. Very disrespectful, and unprofessional. The staff was very unhelpful when I asked for something, and the prices are very high. Will just go to amazon instead.
Too expensive. Overpriced. Yes people should afford their health needs and prioritize their spending for wellness but thats not for these guys to decide. I bought a powder there for $32 thats online for $15!!! Everywhere online at that. For a rush order its still cheaper. Granted its a Mecca for East Orange but enough rallying and another competitor can come right on and provide the same wisdom, fairer prices. Theyre more than Whole Foods. And so what theyre smaller - bulk buying, etc. Rent in E.O. is cheap, their overhead isnt ridiculous the pricing is. Were not dirt poor in this down but dammit we aint rich either.
I am committed to supporting local businesses. However, at this place, there is a high cost to do so. Overpriced place although the owner speaks of their effort to bring high quality products and thus the price. Unless these products are specifically made for them with quality of ingredients not available to their competitors, they are the same products you get at other stores (VitaminShoppe, etc) and the markup is unethical. They are all unfriendly - let us not mention the older man- you have a business because of customers (Business 101) - customer service includes and not limited to being approachable. It is my hope that they will revisit their business model for the coming year -
Maybe the last significant independent health food store in the area. Will order products for you if not carried in-store. Knowledgeable staff and pretty extensive inventory, considering store size. I appreciate having this option. Whole Foods has forced many others to close, and if a product line doesnt accept WF terms and conditions, they stop carrying it. Olive May listens to customers. Its worth sometimes higher prices to help keep them in business.
I love olive may so much. They have everything you need for anything natural. the best products. Costly but nonetheless great.
Olive May products are over priced. Lots of the products can be purchased cheaper online. The guy they have now to answer the customers questions and concerns is more driven to sell the products than providing acurate info. Even though these are natural and organic products you still have to very careful mixing these products with other products. I personally had a not so good experience mixing a natural product together going on the advice of the worker behind the counter. The only benefit is Olive May is easily accessible to purchase a lot of the natural products, as opposed to online you have to wait.
The staff is knowledgeable courteous and they literally have everything Health wise even if you have to get it in a suppliment. The prices are higher than what you might pay for regular food. However they do not sell regular food! Their foods are natural and organic which costs more to processed. I thought at first I would never be able to afford this food...but then I gave up entermens cakes and other overly processed foods that were hurting me anyway. I then realized that I had a lot more money for healthier foods its worth it your health is worth it we have to find out whats most important to you we spend a lot of money on things that are important to us and if your health is not important to you then by the junk food but if your health is important to you shop it out of May buy little by little
A long time neighborhood fixture. Although I liked the original location and ambiance, the new store is more noticeable. This is the only such store in the area. Pleasant and knowledgeable staff.
Make some really good smoothies
Ive been coming here when the original owners had it back in the 80s as a kid. Today, its pretty pricey but its the only place that caries health conscious refrigerated/frozen foods, supplements, organics, teas, herbs, tinctures, soaps etc.Im a person that does not like the burnt smell of incenses. However, their incenses I buy regularly. Great atmosphere and customer service.
This is the health food store I grew up in. I remember when they were across the street next to the church and had only one side of the store. Me and my bestie used to play around and make commercials for some of the products.lol Thanks to them my moms days on earth were peaceful. I wonder if my name or hers is still in the I.O.U. book?? its been over 25 years and the service and their knowledge of the products were very good. Its been 8 years since I have lived in New Jersey but this store is about the only thing I miss about Jersey!!! I wish them many years of success and now that they are a supermarket they havent lost their touch!!
The only health food establishment in an area cluttered with fast food joints. Olive May has been open in East Orange for atleast 15+ years, that I know of. I recently became Vegan, and decided to pass by to check product variety & prices. I was blown away by how pricey products are. One 10oz pack of Morningstar Farms Steak Strips/Chikn Strips/Grillers is $6.99!!! I can get this same product at Target for $3.69 max. A small handful of items were priced fairly. With Aldis in nearby Bloomfield, Whole Foods in West Orange & Trader Joes in Millburn & Clifton and a list of Farmers Markets theres more than enough choices for money conscious Vegans & Vegeterians to buy the food they need at a much lower cost. Sadly, I wont be returning to Olive May.
Very expensive. When u have a question they seem to rush u through it. The sale of the product seems to be their greatest priority. Not very friendly people. The old man never smiles. DONT LIKE THIS STORE.
They have not had my raw peanuts in a while :(
I love the store and its connection to community and good health. Olive May is a 30 plus years community treasure!
They never answer the phone!
They always have what I need and excellent customer service
Extremely over priced, staff is 50/50 some are very rude and pushy to get you to buy and others are friendly and most helpful
Kind of on the expensive side but its so convenient for me plus it has almost everything, like wholefoods
It has what I need but somethings are costly
Good place
They have almost everything you can think of
Great great great
They are not open on sundays
Huge inventory of natural products
Natural herbs and information
