I wasnt greeted upon entry. I walked around the store for 10 minutes before being asked if I needed any help. The woman who offered walked off before successfully helping me. I then had to find someone else who was actually mingling with her two coworkers. This woman also wasnt enthused about helping stating You can just walk around and try whatever you like. Fortunately, she proceeded to help me--perhaps she remembered shes the expert thats why customers ask for help.The lack of enthusiasm is very draining when you genuinely need help because you cant trust pointers from someone who doesnt look happy about their job. I solely recommend this location for basic product shopping only if you already know exactly what youre buying.

I was here with my wife and I wasn’t shopping I was only standing to the side with our kid and I overheard the older blonde lady scolding another employee not even in a helpful professional way but like a mother scolding their child. You cannot treat employees beneath you like that.

My hair was at a length just above my shoulders when I went on. I asked for the first picture bob cut as I have a wedding to go to at the end of the week. I definitely did not walk out with anything near a bob. I am in tears as there is nothing I can do with this layered mess. If I could rate a zero... Or less. I now have a mullet.

I submitted a complaint via e-mail and have been waiting for a call, and the issue has been going on for four days. I am not satisfied at all with my hair dye and my daughters hair... They did not recommend the color that we wanted and now I will not receive a response? This is unfair to the customerif allowed i ddint put any star iwill not put 0/10Im in shock for a salon of this level, but its being treated like thatthe price so Expensive and the work zero

I love Ulta and I always have a great shopping experience however when I came to this location I felt like I was being racially profiled by one of the older workers there. It was super uncomfortable- I was in there about 30 minutes and 4 time she asked me if I needed anything when each time I kindly said no just looking and it’s a pretty big store - no matter where I was, she was there. Even across the entire store no matter what, she was always there passing by me and looking. Super uncomfortable.

I stopped coming here after one of the cashiers downplayed the fact that I mentioned there wasnt enough foundation shade range options available. I guess only white ppl get to shop at the Ulta in Edgewater. Its 2021, thats unacceptable.

I came in here to get a couple items and ended up finding a curling iron in the sale area.The box had a $35 price tag on it. When I went to check out the item rang up as $60.I asked the cashier, Melanie, why the price was different to the tag on the box and after getting 2 managers, they decided to infer that I had “scratched off the price tag” that had listed the items original price of $235.They decided to question my integrity as a customer rather than a simple “we are so sorry looks like the tag was wrong, The price is $60” or even just being nice and price matching it to the price tag.I understand mistakes are made all the time. However there was not one apology or kind clarification. The automatic jump to get 2 managers and then accuse me of manipulating the price was disgusting.I really hope they were having a bad day and they don’t treat everyone the way they treated me. Nobody deserves to be treated that way.

Ulta is one of the best places to shop. Staff their are always wonderful and happy people. Ready to assist you with any issue you may have.

Every time I shop in this store it’s a long line to wait. Not enough cashiers I guess it goes back to poor management. I was in earlier tonight and they only had one cashier for the cosmetics there was an issue with the credit/debit cards they could only take cash- it was a total joke! If I could give minus stars I would - 👎👎👎

I tried to get a sales representative attention, but she couldnt hear me because she had her ear POD in her ears talking on her phone. Very unprofessional behavior.

Do not go here for any service! These people are extremely rude and dont even know the schedule for haircuts or anything. I just called to make an appointment for a haircut and first was left on hold for an excessive amount of time, then when the woman who answered returned she was abrupt and uninformed; she kept changing the dates when someone would be available. Like I said, uninformed. Disgusting how people are allowed to behave today. Absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever!! I would have been a new customer but first impressions count. Forget about this place.

I was in the store the other day and I had a great experience. Everything I was looking for they had in stock and the staff was extremely helpful in assisting me with what I needed.

Worst customer service. I’ve been to the store before I never had a good experience to begin with but nothing bad enough to leave a review about. Today however, I arrived at the store and was already inside the store, aware of the fact that it closed at 7 PM. The security guard in the front still let me in but then advised that it was up to one of the employees if I can just grab the one item that I needed. She looked at me and said no sorry. I understand the time was a matter here but as an employee I would’ve handled it differently and let the customer quickly grab the one item they needed since they drove all the way there. Again, I understand protocols, but this was her choice and it was up to her discretion. The store closes early enough so it is very aggravating that I was inside the store and she decided to turn me away.

The stylist arrived late, I was kept waiting and when she arrived, she went straight to the registers and finally acknowledged if I was the person getting my hair done. Absolutely no apology what so ever for being late, this is not acceptable nor professional at all. She then proceeded to wash my hair, and between each wash she did not rinse the hair at the nape of my neck, and when I pointed it out, she ignored it and proceeded to apply the conditioner and then said that she is not done yet! Each shampoo should be rinsed thoroughly and only then should the second shampoo or conditionerbe applied. I also found that for a blow out, being charged $40.00 for hair that is above the shoulders is too expensive, this beats New York prices. I came away disappounted, pity as it is a lovely salon.

My daughter came here to get her eyebrows done through the recommendation of a friend. Casey (the lady who ended up doing her brows) was so awesome and super informative and friendly. I cant express enough how fun she made the experience and included the rest of us (my husband, son, and I), even though she didnt have to to. She was so kind and super skilled, that my son even ended up getting his brows done for prom! Thank you so much, will be def go back again, and I recommend 10000%!!!

Their service has gotten so much better and when I recently went there with my sister, the women helping us look for particular makeup was amazingly helpful and took her time. For Lancome and one other product line whose name I cant recall right now they do samples, but they dont sample most of their lines.

I seriously cant thank Scelina enough for taking the time to fix the horrible haircut I got from another salon this weekend.Ive had a few of the salon stylists at this Ulta location cut and style my hair in the past few visits and theyve all been fantastic. Definitely recommend.

I had a great experience at the salon here. There was barely any wait time. My stylist took me right in and did exactly what I wanted done to my hair, she also gave me good suggestions for my hair. I have curly hair and she was able to cut and layer it perfectly, the blowout was great as well. I am definitely coming back soon to color my hair. Book your appointment with Scelina, she is great!

Terrible Service, seemed like the only staff working was a cashier. It was a holiday, waited over 20 mins for assistance, in the end the person never came and I ended up not being able to purchase the product I was looking for.

Salon services: Hair and makeup for my wedding.Knowing nothing about this place, I made appts for hair and makeup on a whim for my small wedding in NYC. This place does not disappoint. This is better than any high end bridal salon I could have gone to. Christina worked quickly and listened to my comments/wants, and yet for how fast she did my hair, it stayed put all day (and it was WINDY that day). Devyn is an angel sent to us by the makeup gods. She knew exactly what she was doing and made me look like a vintage Hollywood goddess. I got compliments on my looks all day, I wish I could give them both 10 stars. Go here for your NJ/NYC hair and makeup needs!

I called this place last Friday Sept 13 to make an appointment for Saturday morning to have false eyelashes done. The girl who took my info said will call me back coz she is not sure if she can take me for Saturday morning. Waited for a call and I got nothing...smhIs a return call so hard to do...I just wanted an answer...is it a yes u can come in or no u cannot.

5 stars for the hairdressers! Excellent haircut and blow dry and hardly that much wait time. Todays visit went fine, someone approached me and asked if I needed help and then helped me until I found the right products I needed while I waited to get my hair done. Reading some of the other reviews posted on here, Ive remembered my past visits to this Ulta in particular. I do agree with the people that are posting about discrimination and racism at this location because it has happened to me more than once there. This was the first visit where I felt comfortable but my 3 star rating comes from a culmination of all my visits.

Is there a way to give ZERO stars? Why does this store even have a hair salon? The staff is beyond unprofessional! To name it the least. I went in, to make an appointment, and the cashier was busy on a personal call while another hairdresser was busy on her cell phone. I’m standing, and standing, and waiting, and no one bothered to even say hi. Never mind “I’ll be with you shortly”. I left and I would never return! Don’t bother! Not to mention the overpriced services.

A lot of selections to choose from.I love how they have their stuff displayed, but other makeup lines as well .For makeup enthusiasts this is a great place to go if its within your budget .Products can vary from $4 to maybe $80 dollars. The most expensive stuff tends to be perfumes .

I got a very good hair cut from Victoria. Shes really a perfectionist which I needed since my hair was a mess coming in. The environment wasnt the greatest though since some of the other stylists were arguing with each other.

The store it self is really great and offers a great selection BUT DONT GET YOUR MAKEUP DONE THERE. I had a graduation to attend and I told the girl very natural and subtle and I showed her a very specific look and I came out with pounds of concealer and overdrawn eyebrows. It was really terrible that I had to go home and remove it and then re do my makeup, myself. Hair cuts there are really good though.

Devyn, the anesthetist is the best. Ive recommended her to my friends and family and they are all very happy with her. She does an amazing job!

I started going to Ulta in Edgewater for my hair as its convenient- I was lucky enough to make an appointment with Edeliz. I left with a beautiful ash blonde color- no stinging or burning as my natural hair is dark - 5 stars for Edeliz - thank you !

The worst experience at an Ulta ever. Ulta is one of my favorite stores and everyone is usually so nice, but the only reason I bought something here is because I needed it. The minute my boyfriend and I walked into the store, security was following my boyfriend (who is black) everywhere he walked while I was busy looking for the items I needed. My boyfriend brought to my attention that security was constantly following him and noticed because its happened multiple times to him before due to him fitting a stereotype. Employees didnt even bother to ask if I needed help, but offered others help a couple steps away from us. After my boyfriend brought it to my attention I started noticing the looks we were getting from everyone while we stood on line. Even while purchasing my items the person at the cash register didnt look at me or even pass me my bag with my purchase. They just left my bag on the table and I had to take it. After this ordeal I noticed my boyfriends complete mood had shifted from funny/happy because we were in the midst of celebrating his birthday to really pensive and disappointed that because of who he is he has to deal with racism in 2016. Even though no one blatantly made any remarks, peoples actions are really hurtful to people. Im extremely disappointed in the way we were treated and more importantly, my boyfriend was treated.

I heard about Ulta beauty form some friends so I gave it a try for my engagement party... it was HORRIBLE!!!! My mom and I went to get out hair and makeup done, my makeup came out decent but my hair, my mom’s hair and her makeup was horrendous! It looked nothing like the pictures I showed them of what I wanted... they did say, “yea! Of course we can do whatever you like.” Like what?! If you cannot do a certain hair style, please do not lie to the customers and give them something so rediculous! Especially on such a special day... I paid them full! And had to come home and fix mine and my mom’s hair... DO NOT DO YOUR HAIR OR MAKEUP AT ULTA (unless your makeup is with Devyn)!! Especially if it is an important day for you, it’s a waste of money and time!

Well, the store was very nice, organized and clean i just wished the staff was a little more friendly. Just a smile to greet you as you enter and a polite answer when you ask a question would go a long way.

Personally I am not a person who leaves reviews. I dont find that the forum is an appropriate place for grievances and, like in a court of law, I feel that all accused have a right to face their accuser.With that said, I dont think I will ever walk into an Ulta again after the experience I went through. I have been living as a Hispanic man my whole life and have faced a number of challenges, whether they be trivial or major, when it comes to my race and how people perceive me. I had come to the store as a favor for a friend who needed brushes for her salon job in the morning and wouldnt have been able to make it before closing due to the fact that she was at her second night job till 9:15PM. When I entered the Edgewater location of Ulta close to closing, a security guard who had been stationed at the front door immediately started following me. When I got to the section where the brushes were displayed, I found the right one and proceeded to walk toward the cashier. As I walked toward the front, walking next to me the whole time was the security guard. As I waited in line, he took his position at the front of the store and kept a close eye on me as I made my purchase.I decided to inform management about my experience as a way to hopefully correct the behavior so future customers do not have to subjected to such blatant profiling and the manager was sympathetic and stated that she would have a word with the security guard. When I came home, I checked older google reviews to see if anyone else had similar experiences at this location and I found a post that is 2 years old that relays a very similar encounter with security. To be fair, the security guards are hired through a third party security company called GDNJ located in Avenel, but as a company Ulta has a responsibility to ensure that people do not feel discriminated by people under their employ while attempting to spend money in their stores.

Best ulta ever. Love the employees everyone is really nice. Got my hair done there once I got a blow out and loved it. I have an ulta credit card and I was able to use my points and got 24 dollars off. This ulta has great service.

Normally I spend $8 to get my brows waxed, but I was convinced by an employee to come spend $22 for a waxing experience at the Benefit brow bar where they would map my brows. The woman who did my brows was very nice and chatty. And she shaped them well. Only problem - she left me with 2nd degree burns on my left brow bone! When she held up the mirror and asked me how I liked them, I saw that my skin was way more red and blotchy than normal, but I assumed maybe I had become more sensitive or I was just not used to their wax. By the evening though, it became clear that something was wrong. The redness on my right side was totally gone, but my left was still raw and stinging badly. I had a wedding the next day and had to use a ton of green concealer to hide the situation. Its now two days later and I have a boomerang-shaped scab that is starting to peel. Beware!

I had a horrible experience here. I have been living in the Tristate area for quite some time now but this is the first time I felt that I was treated differently due to my non-white appearance. Nobody offered to help me with any of the products. Usually, at stores like Ulta, you are immediately offered help with finding something. But the attitude here was completely rude. Other customers (who where clearly white) were being helped in the best way possible. I had to go and ask for help from one of the associates. With some hesitation, one of them agreed to help. The quality of help was not genuine (as if they just wanted me to leave the store). I was there with my husband and we both felt the different treatment/vibe in the store. I did not buy anything from the store and just left. It was utterly disgusting. I am never going there again.

The staff member hadnt got to work yet when i arrived, i was left waiting with no apology when Valerie did arrive she blow dried my hair without using any products and so the end result was very similar to what i could achieve myself. I didnt feel special and certainly no one made the effort to tempt me to use their services again. Just to confirm, they dont offer blow outs, (like a Blo Bar would) they offer a blow dry

Went for root touch up twice, the time the grey start showing on the 2nd day second day, the second time the grey started to show on the fifth day tried two stylists and they both told me that my hair grew...BS...never again, stylist need to be trained.

Racist! Racist! Racist employees! Went to this store with my brother. As I was shopping he went to use the bathroom. An employee locked the bathroom door when she saw him coming and when he asked if he can please use the bathroom she completely ignored him and pretended to not hear him. Its so sad that with such a diverse country and the fact that this store is located in an even more diverse county we would experience such an unfortunate situation. I will never again step a foot into this place.

I have never been to a an Ultra Beauty before but my first experience was wonderful. I have not worn make up in YEARS and then I met Enas Jaloudi at the Clinique station. She was cheerful, happy, patient and treated me so well I have told everyone I know about my experience and her. I have already gotten friends interested in Ulta and I am sure I will now shop here regularly. Wonderful people here, great selection of products.
