We stumbled upon this diner while driving through Fair Lawn, NJ. The staff here are very nice. Menu has enough variety and offerings without being overwhelming. Food for our lunch was cooked just the way we wanted and was tasty. I had scrambled eggs and they were not overcooked like many restaurants tend to do, and not runny either. Just perfect for my liking and I gave no special instructions. Enjoyed the fries too. Decaf coffee I had was hot and freshly brewed just for my order which I appreciated. There was either an owner and/or manager working the entire time we were there and he cared about the customers a lot. Friendly to everyone and made all feel welcome. (Bathroom was clean as well, which is so important.) Would eat here again!
We sat outside with our dogs after we went to the park for a nice lunch. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was very reasonably priced and not too shabby. Their fried zucchini were more breading than vegetables, but their other food was really good and hit the spot. Surprisingly nice ambience for such a busy area of fair lawn
Food was horrible . My mash potatoes arrived to my table cold as frick. I’m furious by the fact that my they forgot my bacon . Don’t come here . Go to ihop instead .
Went there for the first time today with my wife. We both live the diner scene. Even though this place came highly recommended, I dont think its gonna be any time soon that well visit. I was trying to Order an omelette and the waitress did not understand what I wanted. Its clearly written on the menu... item 1 with 8tem 2. Just add spinach. So she says, Oh so you want this? No this is what I want. She gave me somuch anxiety that I had to leave. The owner on the other hand tried to get us to stay but, it was a bit late. My anxiety level was almost through the roof. Hopefully next time we go, that waitress wont be working on that date.
Empress diner delicious, great soup, great home fries, they have delicious flavor. The pancakes are delicious especially the apple pancakes there so soft flavorful and has a cake baking smell mmmmmm!!!!
Went there for the first time as it came highly recommended. My boyfriend was trying to order something that was clearly written on the menu. The waitress couldnt not understand what he wanted, kept saying to my boyfriend, Oh so this is what you want while tuning to another section of the menu. My boyfriend got so anxious after several times of explaining that we had to leave. So I suggested our normal go to dinner. A place that after so many years of going has never let us down. Park west Dinner on Rt 46 in Little Falls.

I haven’t been here for a while and I was very disappointed. The worst coconut cream pie I’ve ever had. A very tiny piece was served which would’ve been disappointing if it wasn’t terrible. The coffee was so watery even my daughter noticed! The service left a lot to be desired. $25 for two people and all I had was pie and coffee.
There service was fast but some of the food didnt have any taste but there fried shrimp was great.
Ive been going here for nearly 40 years. This epitomizes what a real NJ diner is and what all others aspire to be. Great food, great service, great people.
Went here for an early dinner. Got the grilled chicken, mozzarella and roasted pepper burger which came with fries, coleslaw, pickles. There was miscommunication in the order - my companion wanted chicken teriyaki wrap and was given the beef teriyaki wrap. After pointing it out, the beef wrap was swiftly replaced by the chicken wrap without any fuss at all.
Smallish diner in comparison to others. Although after lunch hour, and very few customers, it took a while for our waiter to arrive. However, the food came quickly once our order was taken. We shared a tasty triple decker turkey & bacon, although the tomato wasnt that good considering it is the peak season for Jersey tomatoes. Salad w/balsamic was good. Cole slaw great. Prices are reasonable.

The empress Diner is clean the food is consistently good, service is good if theyre not busy. Not overly noisy. They dont rush you, they are hospitable and always greet you with a smile. Sometimes it could be too cold,. Which makes the food cold quickly. Other than that its a go to neighborhood diner.🥓🍳☕🍸

NOT a friendly place, today. Waited at table, outside, under tent. Service kept me waiting close to 15 minutes and seemed annoyed when finally came out. Started ordering, noticed attitude, warmly excused myself and left. Had to go elsewhere. Have eaten here before and wasnt this bad. Empress has to know there are other diners in town.

I’ve been going to Empress for many, many years now. They are a great classic diner, with consistently good food and service. The owners make sure their customers are happy, and they also participate in community events, which is really nice to see.
The food is average and its not price correctly I think its overpriced.

I had chicken parmesan panini&it was delicious! I also had potato skuns with bacon-cheddar&broccoli. They were perfect. For dessert I had cheesecake&wow is all I can say. Service was excellent&the food delicious. Couldnt ask for more. Stop on in&taste for yourself😀

Very clean, friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff, tasty wraps, ordered a whole 18in cheese cake for Thanksgiving to share with my family, it was one of the best cheese cakes had in a very long time (excluding my moms) rivals the old Weequahic Dinner and Juniors. Very light, not gummy and tasty. Owner came over and introduced himself and offered if there is anything he can do and if I dont see what I want on the extensive menu, to just let him know and hell see about getting it made. Several good dinners in my neighborhood, but the peeps and good food at Empress have them beat! Fair pricing, easy parking. Ive bookmarked it in my GPS. Worth giving it a try.

Its a classic diner, plain and simple. I have been going for 10 years now and have always been happy with the food and service because it is just consistent. Its not a big place, but its big enough. Their parking lot is not that bit, but there is street parking all around. The menu is what you would expect and the food is tasty and comforting and always ready pretty quickly. Most recently we had a great waitress who had just a hint of sass, but with a twinkle in her eye which is exactly the kind of service I expect at a Jersey diner.
Ordered on a mobile app, which didnt show the pickup time. They happily remade my order on spot so it wasnt cold. Greatly appreciated, and Ill be stopping by more often!!

Food was only fair. We came for breakfast. I had French toast which was mushy and 3 slices of undercooked bacon. My wife had 3 eggs, some home fries and a fruit cup. The service was good as was the coffee. We sat under the tent at picnic tables spread apart. There were fans and lights. The bill was $23.61.

Im a regular take out customer for their pastrami on rye. I always get at least 2 sandwiches, but sometimes more and never once I had a bad sandwich. Excellent!!! Also I have family that goes there for theyre lunches and breakfast and never a complaint.
Pretty good food for the price. A nice local spot with friendly service. Very good milkshakes. Also my friend Doug was sort of whackadoo here and tried to kiss me once during dinner. But other than that no complaints.
Very nice staff and delighted my husband and I brought our 15 mo old son with us. Everyone thought he was very cute.Very typical diner, with a good selection. Tasty meal, and I appreciate that the kids meal comes with a drink and dessert. Reasonable diner prices in a convenient location.

Pros: Very clean, great service, nice atmosphere. Cons: Food was expensive for what it was. Soup cups are TINY (clam chowder was okay) salmon filet was super thin and a bit overcooked. Fish and chips are literally small frozen fish fingers on a bed of French fries.I think this place has potential. Investing in some more quality selections of food would make this place perfect. As for now, the place is perfect and the food is meh.
I got the Santa Fe omelet and it was delicious! My boyfriend got eggs Benedict and said it was good. Def will eat here again

Been coming here a lot of years. Everyone from the owner down to the servers have stayed consistent and are always very conversational. It has a great location and a very nice atmosphere. Highly recommend for breakfast lunch or dinner. And apparently now they are delivering which is new. Fair Lawn, Paramus, and more.

This is my go to dinner. The food is dinner food but not gotmet... It is consistent and the prices arent bad. I suggest stopping here if you want good food at a good price. If your hungry when you walk out the doors hungry its your own fault... If you dont like dinners I do not think you are not from Jersey...

Terrific! Have driven by a gazillion times and finally had lunch here. Friendly and fast! Just the other day theyd celebrated their 50th year. A gem!
I had the arugula salad. It was fresh, the cheese and dressing complimented each other nicely. Quick time between order and receipt. Waitress was nice and knew the menu.

I’m gonna share this bad experience this Tuesday 25, 2020 I went with my friends around 2:30 am. This server named Alex started ok but took his time to refill and toss hard the iteams requested on the table and also flirted with a costumer whole time’night and unattended us for a whole time we left a 5 dollar for tip and said that’s it only 5 dollars” that was enough for a bad service server
