We have kayaked twice here and had a wonderful time both times. The staff are friendly and helpful. The area is great for a three hour adventure. We saw manatees the second trip in one of the canals. The staff will tell you where they usually roam. There is a mangrove area you navigate through that will take you to San Carlos Bay. Lots of cool wildlife to see.
My family had a great time! I believe our guides name was Jesse, and he knew a lot about the area and its wildlife and was very friendly. We did the 3hr tour and saw a manatee and a dolphin! I would definitely recommend this tour! Some things to keep in mind: 1) the kayaks are open on top, so DEFINITELY wear sunscreen 2) the mangrove tunnel portion of the tour is beautiful, but there are also lots of little crabs that look like spiders which might be creepy for some. That portion is only about 20 minutes though, so I would really recommend just pushing through it so you can see all the other cool stuff! 3) if you are a first time kayaker, be prepared for a workout. Its 3 hours, and the mangrove tunnel gets pretty narrow and tricky to navigate at times. They do have some 2-person kayaks though, and on our tour there was a young kid (maybe 8?) kayaking with his family for the first time and he took it like a champ 4) the parking is not free, you pay by the hour 5) youll want to bring some cash to tip your excellent guide!
Can’t say enough good things about this place. Vanessa is a rock star! Super nice & knowledgeable, but they were all great. The paddle through the mangrove tunnel was challenging but worth it. When a kid in our group wasn’t able to go on Vanessa took her into her kayak and tied her boat to another. She never acted irritated and never got mad at the stragglers. We saw dolphins, blue heron, crabs, and all kinds of things. Definitely recommend!
If you’re near Sanibel or fort Myers, this is a MUST. All of the kayak/SUP near the area were either booked or extremely overpriced- this was a last minute booking within an hour of our desired timeframe and has been our best call of our honeymoon yet. (Other than great food at Pinchers.)Highly recommend!!
We were very inexperienced kayakers, but caught quickly. Amazing beauty touring thru the bay and mangroves. Jessie was an excellent guide who made the trip fun and stress free. Would highly recommend this experience.
We had a great time!! Kayaking through the mangroves was not what I expected but it was awesome. Our tour guide Vanessa was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor! Would definitely recommend!
My friend and I were staying in Fort Myers for the week when we found Kayak Excursions on Bunche Beach. Vanessa was a fantastic tour guide. She was friendly, helpful and very intelligent. Unfortunately we did not get to see any manatees, but its just that time of the year. You start off by kayaking through a long mangrove tunnel and eventually make your way out to the bay. As other reviews suggest, kayaking through the bay is the most challenging with the waves, but it is not that bad. My friend and I have not been kayaking too many times prior and thought the entire trip was enjoyable. We saw horseshoe crabs, spider crabs, and many different kinds of exotic birds. Entire trip with breaks was about 2 and 3/4 hours. Bring bug spray to apply before the mangrove tunnel... the bugs are relentless in Florida. Definitely look forward to partaking in another tour on our next trip to Ft Myers.
I asked for this tour as a birthday gift from my husband as kayaking was on my bucket list. He booked a tandem kayak and we did the tour. Jessie was a great guide, so pleasant, personable and knowledgeable. We had never kayaked before and all went very well. We had a great experience! The Mangrove Tunnel was so cool! It was a great experience and I recommend it highly!
My wife and I rented two kayaks at Bunche Beach where we met up with are friend Vanessa. Where we went to plover beach and did some shelling and also went through plover tunnel. Vanessa is well educated in shells and sea animals and birds. I would highly recommend that you go to Bunche beach and get a tour with Vanessa. Your truly Jerry and Kris
My wife and I rented two kayaks at Bunche Beach where we met up with our friend Vanessa, who is also a tour guide here at Kayak Excursions. We went to Plover Beach and did some shelling and also went through a beautiful tunnel. Vanessa is well educated in shells, sea animals, and birds. I would highly recommend that you go to Bunche Beach and get a tour with Vanessa. Your truly, Jerry and Kris
We had an enjoyable time kayaking with Kayak Excursions. We saw a manatee, dolphins, and many different types of birds. You start by kayaking through the mangroves, which was beautiful and make your way to the bay. The last part through the bay was the hardest part due to the waves, but completely manageable. Would recommend!
Vanessa was an amazing guide; patient, encouraging, informative!! We had so much fun we are seriously considering going again tomorrow. The entire process was seamless and simple from calling to make the reservation to signing waivers and going out. A totally professional organization!! Couldn’t ask for a better experience.
This was a great tour! Our guide new everything about the ecosystem and wildlife around us and pointed out a couple of rare birds. The weather wasnt the best.. it was pretty windy, so the route was adjusted slightly for safety and ease of paddling. We still got to go out into San Carlos Bay for a bit and beach and get out of the yaks and look for shells. The Mangrove tunnel was amazing, and we went thru it twice. We did not see any manatees, probably because of the rough weather. Would take this tour a second time.
Had a fun outing that included a mangrove tunnel, lots of little crabs, rain and thunder. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Fantastic tour! Got us talked up, geared up, and on the water quickly. Good 2 3/4 hrs of 3 hr tour out on water. From starting out in back channels to out into the open bay waters, paddling went from nice and easy to a good little workout in the waves.Vanessa took some time to point out and explain different ecological points of interest and highlights of the local ecosystem. Even ran into a pod of dolphins!Highly recommend if in the Ft Myers/Sanibel area and looking for some water activity.
Great paddle through the mangroves out to the beach. Great customer service and equipment.
This place is great I go every year with my friends . The man that runs this is a younger guy very nice, educated on the water and makes sure people feel ready to go out there and provides maps. He has always been very consistent with the info he provides and tips every time I’ve gone there. Love it awesome little excursion solo or with buddies.
Had an awesome time! The staff was great and very helpful. We went with a family of 4 and they got all of us in the water quickly and instructed us on the map of the area. The route was a combination of open water and serene mangrove passes. We loved it!
We had a fabulous time on our trip! Well organized and led; beautiful scenery throughout! Our guide Vanessa was friendly and knowledgeable! Highly recommended!
I was with 5 friends and we rented 3 tandem Kayaks and it was a great time. The check in was smooth and we got maps and dry bags and the day turned out great. It was a great day enjoying a few hours on the water.
Right when we showed up the team knew who we were and greeted us warmly. We had 3 little boys and a teenage girl, along with 4 adults. The team easily got us outfitted quickly, provided life vests, waterproof bags and had our kayaks ready to go. The briefing and map was super direct and well explained. We all felt really comfortable with the whole experience and the day was great. The kayaks and gear all worked great and was well maintained. When we got back they greeted us, helped us debark all collected all of the gear quickly. All and all, we have never done any event like this with the kids, this place made us feel at home. We had a blast and they really have a great experience. Highly recommend people visit Kayak Excursions!! Well done!!
Great people and saw a lot. Our guide was wonderful and helpful. Recommend!!
We had such a great time. The dolphins and manatees may not have shown themselves but we enjoyed it none-the-less. Expect to work hard and reapply SPF regularly.
Great place to kayak because you can get the diversity of both mangroves and open water in the bay. The owners / operators are very friendly and helpful. We chose to kayak unguided, but guided trips are also available. At no additional cost they provide water-proof, floatable bags to protect your keys, cameras, wallets, etc.Be aware that the parking is a public lot that requires payment.
Our guide was Jesse (I believe?) He was very knowledgeable and the tour itself was a lot of fun! If we ever vacation in this area again well definitely be booking another tour!
Our family of 5, ranging in ages 14 through 86 years old, had a fantastic time with Jessie on our 3 hour kayak tour. He was a great tour guide and made our time spent enjoyable and worth the money.
This is a great location for kayaking some mangrove River Backwater lakes and ponds with calm water and of course the gulf on very calm days. Lots of fun.
This was an ok paddle. I would not do it again without a guide. Once you get out into the bay I was not comfortable trying to guess where the return inlet would be so, I. back tracked through the mangrove tunnel. The parking was terrible, it would have been nice if I knew what to expect. Fair at best. Will look for other options next time.
I would take the self guided tour. The guided tour was brutal. The first 30 minutes was nice and relaxing, then the remaining 2.5 hours felt like I was in training for the Olympic rowing team. It is NOT what we were expecting. There were only 8 of us, we were in back and couldnt hear the guide at all, lots of times if they stopped for a second, when we caught up, the break was over and onward. We never heard the guide, and never got a rest. It was basically 2.5 hours of NON stop paddling. I would not recommend to anyone. It was not relaxing, didnt see any wildlife but birds, and it was like a day at the gym. We were hoping for a nice, relaxing, informative, stop and take a few pictures tour, but instead got a heavy duty workout.
My wife and I went out on a 3 hour excursion with Kayak Excursions and saw lots of wildlife. The guides were top rate and its well worth the time and money to see such a beautiful and unique area. Its great exercise too!
Went to Kayak Excursions in Fort Myers for the first time over the weekend...it was a fabulous experience! The staff was very helpful in teaching us what to do (it was our first time) and the mangroves were amazing to go through with our kids (we rented two double kayaks). OVERALL WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE and WILL RETURN!
As you know anything with Wildlife its Hit or Miss nothings guaranteed we did see a manatee lot of birds, our guide was very knowledgeable, this tour, I would recommend it to all
Nice staff and great paddling experience. Perfect combination of shady and sunny waterways. Nice paddle out to the beach. Easy in, easy out!
These guys are great. Weve been using them for ever. Even before they were down on the beach! We had to pick the kayaks up at their shop. Always a class act. Its almost mandatory for us to rent from them every time we are in town! You will not be disappointed rather pleased beyond your expectations! Wonderful area to kayak and in the right spots you could see some manatees. Weve had them come right up to our kayak. Thanks again, Stefan & Alex for another terrific experience.
AWESOME ADVENTURE through the mangroves and the bay. Highly recommend!!
Very easy to find on the map. They were prompt and the kayaks were good. They gave us a map that we kept with us and we were able to navigate pretty easily through everything. We did a half day and it was pretty inexpensive. They did not have any tandem kayaks to rent but that would have been just a little cheaper.
Alex was a fantastic guide. I would highly recommend taking a tour.
Staff is so friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the route and would go again and recommend!
So happy with our Kayak Excursions experience! They delivered kayaks to our beach house rental (Ft Meyers Beach)in the morning and picked them up in the evening! It was so perfect for our vacation and adventuring with our kids. The kayaks were in great condition and the process was easy!! Thanks guys!!
The staff were very helpful and down to earth. Very explanatory for us because we didn’t want to wait for the tour. We went Jan 1 around 11am and saw quite a few dolphins, to include a baby!! We didn’t see manatees, they said the water may be too cold right now (but it was pretty comfy for us!!) but seeing the dolphins was really great. Didn’t get to float the mangroves bc the tide was too low during the early part of the day, but this is a long haul! We only went from the launch point to Pelican Bay and back and that was a lot of work but very worth it to see the dolphins!
Alex was a fantastic tour guide - we got to see manatees and dolphins both, as well as lots of other local wildlife. We even got a private tour where it was just myself and gf because the other bookings were full and they needed to shift spots! Fantastic experience all around
I did the full day Kayaking on 3/14. It was a birthday treat to myself. My 1st time kayaking and I had a Great day! I really enjoyed the Beautiful scenic route! I highly recommend Kayak Excursions and will definitely be back!
Very good with value, ease of use and location. Great for couples or families!
I had an awesome time on the Eco tour, Saturday 1/11/20. Being a beginner with kayaking I have to compliment Robert our guide. He was very helpful in advising me in ways that will help me become a better kayaker as my skills progress. I highly recommend Kayak Excursions.
We rented a tandem for my wife and I and a single Kayak for a friend. Bunche beach seemed to be a good area for novices. The mangrove tunnel was interesting and led us to a larger channel and then out to the Bay. It was a bit windy but at our backs as we made the loop past Bunche Beach and back to the launch. A bit strenuous for us at age 70 but we all enjoyed the experience and will definitely come back. The attendant at the launch (Jay?) was very helpful and informative.
These guys are awesome. They helped me get setup and had everything ready for me. They explained the map and were very friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend. Thanks guys.
We are from Dayton, Ohio. Keith, Kelli, Jake, Josh, and Joey had an excellent tour. I recommend this to anyone and everyone. Kelly did an excellent job. He obviously cared about what he was doing. We saw dolphins, manatees, and lots of other sea life. Great job! Thank you! Well worth the money.
Absolute MUST do!! Big fun, great kayaks, excellent advice from Sebastian on what to do and where to go. He told us where the manatee’s hang out and sure enough were right next to a dad mom and baby manatee. Absolutely awesome!! Highly recommend. 3 hours was enough for 1st time kayakers.
It was a lot of fun. They give u a map, so your not lost. Everyone was just friendly
Had an amazing time this past weekend! Staff is friendly, helpful and available. We were given a map and directions and were able to explore on our own. Tons of wildlife to see and loved being able to stop and have a snack on the beach. Loved our experience with this group, especially being able to rent a two person kayak since Im 30 weeks pregnant :)
The guide (cant remember his name!) was really great - he was personable, encouraging and kept checking in with everyone to make sure we were doing alright. He had very good knowledge of the local ecology and answered all of our questions thoroughly, in addition to telling some great stories and offering unique tidbits of trivia along the way. He told us what to look for to spot manatees so even though we didnt see any, I felt that if they had been there, we would have seen them. We saw lots of interesting birds, even a pair of bald eagles! The mangroves were really neat, Im glad we got to paddle through them. We also paddled out into the bay, which at first I didnt think I could handle because of the current but it was fine and Im glad I got to experience being out in the open water. I would definitely take another tour from this outfit and highly recommend them.
Great spot to kayak. Friendly staff and very reasonable for rental pricing. This was the second time weve went kayaking out of Bunche Beach. Love it! The mangrove tunnels are awesome! Definitely will go again.
This is one of the best things you can do if you visit this part of the city. This is fun. The personal are really nice and prices are good for the time you use them. They explained well the trip with no danger at allRecommend this to all and definitely will come back.
We love paddling off Bunche toward Ft Myers beach bridge. This time we rented a tandem to take our 6 year old granddaughter and daughter. Big success. The tide was high enough and light wind. Enjoyable but you must be in shape!
This place is great! Equipment was in good shape and a wonderful place to go kayak. We are on a family vacation with my kids and wife and the service was excellent. Totally recommend this place.
We had a great time and a must do! The guide was great and we got to see a lot of really cool places! The man cove tunnel we amazing and a very fun experience! If you are looking for a nice laid back kayaking tour, this is the place to go!
Lots of fun! There are a few areas spaces get very tight, a true adventure!!
We had an awesome time today!! All 4 kids loved it:) Manatee were waiting for us in the lagoon right where they said they would be. The mangrove areas were really cool almost like tunnels and we had a great time at Bunche beach before heading back to the launch area. Cant wait to do it again next year!
A must do activity. Perfect adventure for anyone. Staff was great. One pointer: Dont take the wrong mangrove tunnel (1st one you see). Its no fun getting out in knee deep muck to turn kayak around half way in. The correct tunnel will be mapped out by the staff but the entry is sort of hidden & you dont see it till you get close. Theres a red ribbon tied to a tree above. Use your Google maps. Its a ton of fun, my 7 year old will never forget.
Great experience. Very friendly and patient. We had a great time. Highly recommend.
It was a great experience. Nice scenery and really nice beach
Great experience. Roger was our guide and he did a great job sharing information about the wildlife and history of the area. Well worth it!
Had a great day kayaking. Theyre basically impossible to tip over. I saw a dolphin and then 2 manatees. Rodger was awesome. I had to call him when I got lost and he guided me right back! Definitely going to be kayaking here again!
We kayaked right of the doc of our rental on San Carlos Island, kayaks got delivered to us free of charge first thing in the morning and picked up next morning. We were instructed and advised of the best routes around and wildlife to look for. Very pleased with overall service and professionalism of staff! Well use them again!
Very friendly guy rented our kayaks with good hints on where to go. Saw a manatee where he said we would. Highly recommended. This location avoids the hassles of the two bridges to either Ft. Myers Beach or Sanibel. Nice beach, too.
We had a really great time on Rogers tour today! I have been down to this area many times but have never done a kyack tour. So interesting and fun to see things from the water and to get up close with the wildlife. We are all beginners and didn’t feel rushed or like we were holding up the group. Roger was very patient. Thank you a great time!
Jay was a great guide, very cool and laid back. Totally enjoyed our trip
Nice guys. Super easy process. Now I need to learn to look at tide charts.
Great time. Kayaks were in great condition. Staff was very helpful. They give you a map and a dry bag. Route is great. Great for 2 or 3 hours. Highly recommend this place and this company.
Great place to rent. Super easy access and beautiful path out to the bay.
Our guide (Kelly) made this an awesome experience! He was knowledgeable of the landscape & critters and patient with our less than expert skill level. I recommend getting a dry bag and to reapply sunscreen a few times!
Great group of guys who run the operation. The parking pass machine was out of order and they made sure the meter attendant didnt ticket is when it was back online. Thanks for a great experience.
Easy in, easy out! Great fun. Nice staff. . .
It was quite a nice kayaking experience. There was an open-water stretch that was physically challenging, but without the intense winds, it would have been perfect. Would reccomend!
Had a fun experience and they were really professional. Great services offered and helpful guides. Recommended!
Friendly, accommodating, knowledgable tour guide. Peaceful area to kayak!
Roger was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with our local swfl waterways. If you are looking to try kayaking and want someone who knows what they are doing, reach out to these guys!
We were the only ones (fools 😀) to rent kayaks in late November. We are from the Midwest and were in town for a wedding. We had a great time, got to see some dolphins and a manatee. Would do it again.
Absolutely a must do. The mangroves were beautiful and shaded. One of the best kayaking experiences we have had to-date.
Wonderful staff, very affordable and very interesting.
Had Jay as a guide for our eco tour and he was awesome. My gf, her sister, and I had a great time exploring the mangroves, especially the mangrove tunnel. It was an exhausting yet incredibly rewarding tour, and our guide came prepared to support every level of kayaker we had in our group. Thank you for the great adventure Jay and Kayak Excursions.
Had a great time kayaking! They make it easy.
Diversified nature during the tour. Sea mangrove beach even dolphin. Nice guide but could explain more the environment
I had a blast. Went through the mangrove tunnel, down to the beach and back up the river. It took about 3.5 hours but I was really taking my time and spent some time napping on the beach.I got close enough to touch 3 big ol sea cows too.
The Kayaking experience is awesome. The guys running it and checking you in for rentals, not so much.
John was very knowledable and friendly to be with. We would have had a good time even without catching the lots of fish I did catch. I would recommend low wind or wind from north if fishing the flats area. Caught a 25” redfish in mangroves.
Awsome adventure and great guys. Saw lots of wildlife and cool mannequin swimming. Thanks.
John was a great guide. He has real enthusiasm his work and a sincere desire to make sure his guest have a great time.
Come down from Canada & go every year with the fam! Staff are always great & the scenery is a beaut
Great time, great value. Manatees, mangroves, and beaches. Excellent experience
Reasonable prices, great staff, clearly knowledgeable! Not difficult at all, a little hard to follow the map.
The best way to see nature undisturbed in Florida is on a kayak. Great prices and friendly staff!
Owner/Employee refused to provide my wife and I a one hour rental at 12:30. With at least 20 kayaks sitting there and no line he said he only did half day rentals but if we came back a couple hours later he could give us a one hour rental. So he could rent us a kayak at 2:30 for an hour but not at 12:30??? Thought that was a little unreasonable.
Always a great time going and unloading the kayaks. Beautiful, peaceful and a great area to explore.
