We used Armstrong in May 2021 to move from Illinois to North Carolina. We were told there would be a 7-11 day window for the delivery of the furniture. It turned into 17 days. We had to call repeatedly to find our what was going on. Communication from Armstrong would have been nice.We paid for full value protection. We had quite a few items damaged, There were some pieces that were scratched some dented, some with soiled upholstery and some upholstery had holes poked in it. Some of the items were repaired, but the majority of the items were denied. A claim company sent someone to review the damages and agreed to take some of the pieces to repair. We asked what about the rest of the pieces and could never get a clear answer from the claim company or from the Loss and Prevention Manager at Armstrong. I wouldnt be writing this poor review if someone would just explain the process for evaluation and explain the decisions that were made. Some verbal communication would be greatly appreciated. The crew sent to pack our furniture was too small and there appeared to be only two experienced movers out of four. They worked a long hard day and were rushing at 10 pm to finish loading the truck. We found out our furniture was taken out of the first trailer and it was put in another trailer during the time we were waiting for our furniture. The extra handling wasnt good for our furniture.Ann L
Have been meaning to contact Armstrong and express my total disappointment in my move. I had used them a few years ago and my experience was stellar. This time not so much. I was moving from my townhouse and having to store items with them while I stayed at my daughters home while I looked for a place to live. The crew showed up late that morning and took forever to label the items. What should have been a 4 hour job ended up taking 10. When it came time to get things out of storage and intomy home it was a fiasco. They were short handed and had to call someone else. While bringing things in I noticed big boxes were place on the dolly on top of little boxes. As they were running down the ramp laughing I noticed items that were labeled fragile werent being handled as such. They finished early and after the fact I noticed many items were scratched, dented or broken. I was very disappointed but since I didnt purchase insurance have to live with what happened. I would never use or recommend them.
On march 11 I was moved by Armstrong Relocation/United. When the saleswoman came to take measurements and give my a quote she laid everything out very clearly. Moving day the movers came at nine and at five oclock the announced there was no more room in the truck for the balance of the furniture. The only choice he said I had was to pay overtime or they would come another day to pick up the balance of the furniture. When I showed him my paperwork it clearly stated everything to be moved that day and I wondered why there was the mistake. Its seems that salespeople for this company and probably many more do this routinely. It is a way to charge more for your move. After much conversation the saleslady called and said the movers couldnt do any more that day because they would be doing to much. She reluctantly said she would send a truck the next day due to the fact that the truck arrived at our new location after 5 pm. The unload was rushed they only put together the large items and everything else appropriately 55 boxes and 4 wardrobes were all shoved into one room. I had purchased the extra insurance for over 200 dollars and untimely was told that they would not honor the claim that I had to submit. The brand new wood floors have many scratches due to dragging the large pieces of furniture into place. They only fixed a few scratches on a large china cabinet and a lamp. The other two items, the floor and a patio chair were denied. I am sorry I ever allowed them to do my move and I am still trying to get them to be responsible for the damage.
Smoothest move I’ve made. I have moved cross country several times and Selected Armstrong Relocation for my last. The move was practically seamless from start to finish. Easy to get a hold of my reps, quick response times, thorough answers. They even made it easy to change my dates when my closing was pushed back. The driver and crew were friendly and careful. No damage! Would use again.
Not sure why not authorized to drop the trailer but I guess they NEEDED to sign for it. Nice people.
Great moving company to use... Their away in uniform and polite
These guys are great!! I needed my things to be moved from my house in Naperville to my apartment in Normal, Illinois. They were on time, nothing was damaged, and they were very professional. I also worked for the company and had a great experience. My coworkers as well as my boss were welcoming and taught me many valuable lessons in the work place. I would 10/10 recommend Armstrong Relocation and I plan on using them once I move again.
This company and its employees were very professional and helpful from the first telephone contact all the way to the delivery and setup of my furniture in my new home. I could not have asked for any people to be any better. I checked out several companies for quotes and Armstrong was the best! Would I use them again, most definitely!
Used Armstrong to pack and move us to CA. The pricing was very straightforward and crews were professional. They made it a lot less stressful for us.
Do not use Armstrong Relocation company!! They showed little to no regard for our property and items. They caused significant damage to the door frames and walls in the house we were moving out of and claimed they didnt notice. They also caused damage to our new home. They showed little regard to our property as they were stacking boxes heavy boxes on top of boxes marked fragile and running the down the ramp of the truck as fast as they could and laughing while our boxes bounced all over the place. To the point where my children were worried about their items being broken. They did not reassemble some furniture but failed to tell us. When we called the company they stated they could not find where they put the brackets. For one of the items we found it in a different room for another they called us a few days later as they had found it in their truck. We found a bag full of parts to one of our tables after they had left as well. In addition, they broke several pieces of furniture and scratched our basement kitchen cabinets. It has been two months since we moved and we are still fighting with them to get the insurance coverage that we paid for to get our items fixed or replaced (we did take full insurance).
Christine/Trish and the Armstrong Team:I wanted to express my appreciation to you and to your team, they did a fantastic job! They were punctual, efficient and even finished in less than the time quoted. And lets not forget, all done during a global pandemic (Covid-19). I was so impressed, you will always be my go-to for moving. I even referred my best friend that just sold her house, to you today and I believe she will be using your services as well.THANK YOU (all of your team) so much for the easiest move I’ve ever experienced (and I’ve moved quite a bit and relocated a couple time for jobs) and this, by far, was the best experience!!
We used Armstrong for a cross county move last June/July. It was the worst experience ever. We have moved many times and never experienced that level of unprofessional behavior. The list goes on and on - they didn’t send enough people to pack, even after visiting our home several times prior to estimate boxes and time needed. Because of that, the packing wasn’t finished when the movers came to load the trucks. They also didn’t have enough movers to load. They didn’t properly wrap or carry any of our items, resulting in a lot of wear and damage. During the move out, they extorted an additional $7000 to cover more boxes, etc. all due to a failure on their part to properly estimate. We had no choice but to pay because we had to be out of our house. The movers didn’t have us moved out in time. We had to pushback the closing. Then, they told us the vans had broken down and there would be over a weeks delay in delivery our items. When our good were delivered almost 2 weeks late, we discovered how poorly things had been packed and how much damage had resulted. In addition, we had paid a large amount of money for unpacking services and the movers didn’t have time to unpack even one box. We have been waiting almost a year for them to reimburse us for the lack of unpacking and the damages and they haven’t responded. Nor have they reimbursed us for hotels etc. Bottom line, do NOT use this moving company for anything! They are shady, unreliable and unprofessional.
The sales rep was very professional and took his time to explain everything to us. The head moving team was very experienced and personable. The staff they brought on board on each end of the move was hard-working and also very personable. We were very comfortable with the head team and their staff in our home. The sales rep and the head team were very good about communicating with us in a timely manner. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience.
Great place. Great atmosphere. For all house hold and cemmercial services.
We were very pleased with Armstrong United Van Lines efforts in our move out of state. They had a coordinator assigned to our move and she was always available for questions and help. She contacted us at various intervals to make sure that we had our preparations done per our timetable for the move. On the move day the van and workers arrived as scheduled and the loading of our belongings went smoothly. Two days later as scheduled the van and workers arrived at our new home. They had 2 extra young men to assist them with the unloading. Everything was put in the location we had assigned. The beds were reassembled by the workers and everything went exceptionally well. Armstrong supplied some free boxes for packing although we also purchased some special sized boxes for pictures etc.through an internet company. Armstrong was a good choice for us.
A customer at our storage facility used Armstrong to relocate them and the driver hit the gate to the facility. Armstrong denied the claim even with video of the accident and pictures of the damage.
So many damages generated by Amstrong without any involvement to address the issues. They intentionally avoid their responsibility thanks to internal document without any agreement of the customer. Very strange way to proceed. Hopefully, the insurance of the international moving recognized the prejudice. I recommend to avoid the services of this company.
Everything, from start to finish was done professionally and promptly. Since this was our first time making an across the country move, I was a little concerned given some of the horror stories I read online about other movers but Armstrong never once let me down. We did have three items that were damaged during transit and they quickly honored the claim without trying to negotiate us down. I would highly recommend Armstrong Relocation to anyone in the Chicagoland area.
Great company. They did a great job moving my Aunts belongings from IL to FL. Would definitely recommend them to family and friends!
Couldnt be happier with Armstrong Relocation and the job they did with our move this past weekend. Our sales rep Mike was very helpful. He came to our apartment to provide an estimate and gave us a very accurate picture of what we could expect. He even noticed a couple of things that we had forgotten to include on previous estimates that would have made our lives more difficult. Our move coordinator Trish helped make sure we had our Is dotted and our Ts crossed and was very pleasant to work with. The day of the move was a little chaotic so I unfortunately dont have the names straight of the three movers who came, but they were on time, very professional and helpful, and got the move done much faster than we would have expected. There are a million different things about moving that can be stressful. Armstrong Relocation helped knock a bunch of things off that list. Ill be recommending them to anyone I know who needs help with a move in the future!
Moving everything you own across country is a very scary thing. There are so many nightmare stories out there, but working with Armstrong Relocation Chicago, we had the best experience we could have hoped for. From Scotts binding estimate, which was the lowest of 3, and would not change with a weighing after everything was on a truck, to the people in the office, Liz and Anna, who kept me informed every step of the way, to Scott and Trish, the drivers and their movers on both ends, everything went smoothly. Pick up and delivery was as promised, everything was handled carefully and respectfully. I am very grateful to Armstrong for their professionalism and top notch employees.
After many corporate moves, this one was on us at retirement. Estimate, spot on. Service, excellent. Crew, polite, neat, on time or early. No damage, no losses. Best move we ever had. Highly recommend. No complaints whatsoever.
We recently moved from Naperville, IL down to Columbus, IN and used Armstrong Relocation in Glendale Heights, IL. Moving from one state to another is not cheap and we did get three prices from major moving companies. All three prices were relatively close with Armstrong being just a little bit higher priced. We decided to use Armstrong because of the way the services were presented by the Scott Johnson, the V.P. of Sales. We were not disappointed. Armstrong did an excellent job of communicating with us before, during and after the move. Chris and Mack, the two gentlemen who actually moved us did a fantastic job of loading and unloading our belongings. Since I had never used a moving company before and in reading some reviews of other moving companies, I was a little apprehensive. Besides the possibility of damage to our belonging, I was also afraid of additional charges being tacked on. Neither of those things happened. I would highly recommend using Armstrong Relocation to anyone who is planning on moving from the Chicago area.
Good young group of guys in the warehouse. Killed the unload
Armstrong Relocation Chicago made my long distance move a snap!! The confidence they showed in knowing how to move my motorcycle won them my business. My bike was moved without any issues. They also expertly packed my glass office furniture. I had a great experience with everyone at Armstrong!!
The moving truck arrived July 31, 2018, the driver ONLY. For a three bedroom house. Then one other man showed up, angry he was there without others to help. I bought lunch for them and helped with boxes. Then two more showed up when the basement was loaded. I specifically put things to the side in my garage NOT to go, guess what they LOADED THEM!! I moved from Chicago to Florida. My entire life in the hands of imbeciles. It was in storage in Illinois for about a week before they moved it towards Florida, never returned calls or updated on the move. When in Florida, the truck was being unloaded, everything was in the driveway when it started to rain. So, I stead of my STILL CHECKING OFF THE LIST, they had to rush everything into the house. Ensured me that everything was there. Well IT WAS NOT. I filed a claim with the company for the missing items and my broken items. Half my Christmas China was missing, one broken, my bedspread was missing, but I have the shower curtain. I could go on and on. Missing a shelf for my computer cabinet. Afraid to even look at the China from my grandmother. This company LIES ONLY TO GET YOUR BUSINESS. Beware of the delivery too, take all the time you want. They may have 3 people unloading, which when you are by yourself may be hard to keep up with the numbers of the check list. Do not recommend United Vanlines after working with Armstrong! NO WAY EVER!!!
Excellent customer service, efficient and extremely pleasant loading and unloading crew. Everyone respected our materials and goods and handled as if they were their own. I highly recommend Armstrong/United and would not hesitate using them for future moving needs.
Dont believe a word they tell you - I arranged for a carton move of my sons goods to another city for a Sat delivery (due to work schedule!) They called me at 4 pm on Friday to tell me the goods had not arrived and there was NO SAT delivery that I had specifically contracted for. Then they promised to deliver FIRST THING on Tuesday morning (for my sons work schedule) and the blew that off without even notifying us ... RUN as fast as you can the other WAY. They like to tout their high customer satisfaction ratings - dont believe it. If I could give them a ZERO, I would.
I recently used this company for a move from Schaumburg, IL to Galveston, TX and I was very happy with the entire experience. Not only was the price quite reasonable, each and every person I worked with was friendly, professional, helpful, informative, and appeared to be dedicated to making my relocation go as smoothly as possible. I would definitely use them again!
We contacted Scott Johnson 1 week prior to our move date and he came through with flying colors. The three guys that came to our house were awesome. There were a few curve balls thrown at them and they handled them with professionalism and a smile. I strongly recommend this company.
Armstrong is efficient and thorough. I used Armstrong for a cross country move. From the initial meeting to final delivery everyone is pleasant, courteous and willing to please. I highly recommend Armstrong.
Really nice folks, very professional, and a very clean and well organized warehouse.
These guys were simply great. Connected with United Van Lines, they were professional but personal and gave me the best price along with totally efficient services. I wanted to go with a highly reputable company (i.e., not one of those companies who want money up front or have negative reviews you feel iffy about) but didnt want to pay top dollar, so I went with these guys and BOY AM I HAPPY! Everything turned out to be easy and all my stuff got to the other side of the country in ship shape and on time. Phew! Good going all around.
Overall we were very happy with the move which was scheduled between Xmas and New Years Eve.They listened to our needs to get us moved during the holiday week and the their teams time off. Lexy Harris kept us informed every step of the way. There was a little communication mishap with our box pickup where the drivers did not know we would not be home. But since they called to let us know they were on there way, it was not an issue. The team of movers we had from United (Eddie, Tim and others) were great. They made sure to carefully pack everything, and unpack us on the other end. Thanks for all your help.
Extremely happy with my recent move with Armstrong Relocation. Excellent service from the initial meeting, communication in scheduling, pick up and delivery, as well as post delivery follow up. Highly recommend!!!
At first it was a good experience and then they get your money and of course you need insurance but when things are lost or damaged they are not what I would have chosen! They try to replace a cement goose with a plastic one! That my friends is not apples to apples! Lost packages are really not important to them at all?! Well they are to us! Low balled the insurance claim for sure and they expect you to be happy! Well Im not ! I will never use or recommend them to anybody! 😡😤
This firm was recommended to me by our corporate relocation firm as they did not handle personal moves. I understand the typical frustrations and issues that occur during cross-country moves as Ive moved over 5 times across the country. My experience with Armstrong Relocation Services out of Glendale Heights, IL, and specifically their VP of Sales, Scott Johnson, was the worst Ive ever experienced. Packers showing up late. Driver never getting out of the truck. Movers who were on the first day of moving without any training. It is November 13th and I wrote a detailed letter to the firm on August 12th. I have never heard back from them. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM!! They are not responsive, nor do they care. My claims experience continues to languish and I cant help but think they are just trying to wear me out and get me to back off. Its just a numbers game to them.
I was a customer of Armstrong relocation, but Never again. There must be better. I used Armstrong for two cross country moves in 2018 ( July and November). There was a good point; the sales manager who set up our moves both ways. Also the two moving crews were polite and friendly. Delivery was timely in both cases. The problems were the damage that was done to our furniture caused by, the way things were loaded so tight on the way out. WE aloso had missing clothes and furniture. Every inch of the van was used to force everything to fit. Many things were taken apart for the outbound trip to Seattle, and the return to Chicago.Additionally damage was done by the return crew that Armstrong refused to cover repair cost. Finally the return crew did not reassemble furniture that Armstrong took apart. We had to ask several time for them to reassemble before the pieces were put back together! Additionally they were going to leave without taking the TV up to my office, and had begrudgingly reassemble the TV table .....that had been taken apart twice by Armstrong. The last step is that they did some of the repair nicely, but refused to have the one major damage to our armoire repaired We had to pay for that. They did send us a check for a whole $57.So while Armstrong Relocation may have been good for some, it was not, for us......4/19/19.......I had written the above review, and wanted to provide a update. I would now raise my rating to 3 Stars. After a month or so, and after Armstrong had seen my review they did Come to the table so to speak to offer further compensation that was not acceptable, we talked and negotiated further. After multiple conversations they made a good faith offer and paid us for our damaged furniture. I believe the total was adaquate.....around $425 total.Armstrong made this final offer after the above noted calls, and after I aked them why they would give me such a hard time for a few hundred dollars ......after I had spent nearly $25,000 with them over a 5 month period. They also asked that in good faith I would edit/modify my original review. Thus I would raise my rating to 3 Stars.
Great company for ask your moves..
Armstrong moved us from IL to NY last summer. We had the contents of home put into storage for 6 weeks after the move until we closed on our new home. We packed almost everything to save money. We packed one box with a painting on glass in reverse. This was a painting of Abe Lincoln and approximately 120 years old. The box was placed in a corner and we asked the movers not to take it. We planned on laying it flat in the backseat of our SUV. Sure enough, it was packed onto a truck and we did not notice until the two trucks used to pack the entire household left. The glass broke and so did the leg of our patio table. The table and 6 chairs cost $1200 in 2015. I still had the receipt. We submitted our claim and we very quickly received an offer of $300 with the stipulation that if we did not take the $300 offer, a claim adjustor would come and he could claim our loss for less than $300. We felt our loss was worth more. The adjustor came and we then get an offer of $157 for the table and nothing for the painting. It cost more than $600 to replace the table. We were told we packed the painting box incorrectly and the box showed no damage. Remember, it was not supposed to go on the truck. Our household was moved on and off trucks several times during the move. Is it not possible our painting was dropped? Beware, if you pack it yourself, the insurance means nothing.
Armstrong relocation services was incredible! My husband and I relocated to the UK from Chicago, and we would recommend them to anyone looking to relocated. The movers were incredibly helpful, professional and friendly. This company however went above and beyond when I accidentally packed my passport and visa in with our shipment -- I realized this the night BEFORE we were supposed to leave. I reached out to Ashley Sheaffer via LinkedIn, because the offices were closed and had no luck reaching out to someone on the phone. She responded immediately and contacted the appropriate personnel. Mind you, this was a Sunday evening -- the day before Labor Day. Because of Ms. Sheaffers efforts, Corey Anderson the president of the company arranged for us to obtain our passport from our shipment at the warehouse Monday of Labor Day. HUGE thanks to Frank Ruffalo who came in on the holiday to help me search through our shipment! Long story short, I was able to to get my passport and make my flight! THANK YOU to everyone who made this possible!!
They are the WORST movers. They moved my mom from IL to NC last year. DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY.First, the quote Ms. Brandt gave my mother was wrong, after a $10,000 contact (plus a $1500 shuttle charge) was signed. The Chicago movers refused to pack up certain items without getting more money. Cindy Maiello at Armstrong made us split an $800 additional charge to have them leave with the small truck to take to the bigger truck. They insisted that the regular (large) moving truck couldnt get on my moms street, which was BS. Armstrong insisted on bringing a small truck and then took everything to a larger truck. They must have left the items in the rain as the boxes arrived crushed, damaged, and dripping with mud. The movers broke a king size bed frame, made 3 holes in a new king mattress, broke a heavy nightstand in half, broke the glass storm door arm, scraped paint/drywall off the MBR wall in the new condo, and couldnt find the screws or wires for her TV, which the Chicago movers disassembled. I spent hours on the phone with Armstrong reps (Cindy & Janna) and filled out claim forms. I think they played soccer with some of the boxes as thing were broken, and, if they dont pack the boxes for you, then they dont pay for what is broken, even if you have insurance through them (& we took out $42,000 worth of insurance, according to Ms. Brandts estimate).Since the bed was broken, I spoke to Janna Perrucci, who, at the time was somewhat helpful, and said she would do an emergency claim. I thought that would mean that we could go buy a new frame tomorrow as the bed was unusable (the mover snapped off 3 support legs on the frame and tried to glue them back on--see photo--which I told him was TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE). The emergency claim, however, doesnt fix the problem in a timely fashion. It took more than a month for them to reimburse her for the bed and they had to send their inspectors to see the damage first, when their movers broke it--often in front of us. They did replace the frame/mattress/box spring for $2000, far less than what it actually cost to replace. We sent them receipts and expected to be reimbursed in full, since they broke it and we took out $42K of insurance. The NC movers told us they were day workers who didnt work for United/Armstrong Relocation. One gave me his # to come and fix some of the things that Armstrong wouldnt do (I wouldnt call him--who knows what his credentials are?). Janna said she looked into this and insisted that they were employees of an NC-based United mover, but we know this is not true. The truck driver called Armstrong in front of us to inform Cindy/Janna that no one was available from the Charlotte-area United to unload the truck, so he stopped somewhere to pick up day workers, as the movers were already late with this delivery. We did not get compensated for the lateness either.Once things were unboxed, the movers destroyed a toaster oven (bent it in half), an antique end table (broke off a leg), Rosenthal & Norataki China, a trolley cart, crystal cake plate, Corningware, stemware, and lamps. They wanted to offer us $300 and ended up paying only $453. We had asked for a lot more and found comparable items on eBay/internet to show them the worth of the items the movers destroyed. Keep in mind, my mom took out $42,000 worth of insurance.I spent countless hours documenting the claim. My mom spent time dealing with inspectors and workers who needed to fix the dry wall and storm door. They are slow to return calls/emails. When a settlement was finally reached (for far less than it should have been, considering we had insurance and photos and the inspectors verified that items were destroyed), they emailed to say that a claim check was mailed but it took more than 6 weeks for that check to be cut. These people were unprofessional. The movers were careless and the NC ones were most likely not licensed/employees of the United-affiliate. Insurance did not help. Do not trust your belongings to this company.
Total disgrace - worst move ever. Lots of damaged and missing goods. Of all my international and cross country moves this has been by far the worst ever.Reply to owner: the move is in the name of my husband - have a look at our last name and you’ll see.
Really bad experience with Armstrong Relocation. They damage the house and required several quotation to finally say that the damage was already done. Do not trust this company and what their employees say. They are just avoiding their responsibility.
