We love this place! Their milk really is far better than ANYWHERE else! My Guy also really digs their ice cream. We dont get to Hastings often but we ALWAYS stop by on our way out of town to stock up!

Every time I drive through town I stop for Ice Cream. They have other dairy products for sale also. Bring cash. No credit cards unless its more than $10. So worth it.

My family has been going to the Hastings Co-op for years! After a trip to the pool we would stop by for malts! After all these years we still will stop by any time were in Hastings! The staff are always so friendly and kind and the atmosphere is so welcoming! Weve also found that they have some of the best cheese curds ever! This little shop houses some big happy memories for my family and me. I believe this small shop is an integral part of Hastings and everyone either living in the town or simply passing by should take a little bit of their time to grab some treats!

Best homemade soft ice cream in the entire mid west.You will never find better value anywhere else as well.It is an iconic landmark and historic community hang out.You need to try it.!!

Great milk shakes. You have to call to get current flavors, not posted online anywhere. They require masks at all times, even though the whole covid scam is over with and no more than 4 people in the store at a time. Very liberal political feeling store. Staff was not very friendly. If it wasnt for the milk shakes I would not waste my time here.

Stopped in and found you can get 4 flavors of shakes. Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, or black cherry. Two sizes small or large. Little disappointed that you do not get a lid for the shake. I got a strawberry its pretty good but it does seem like its just soft serve with strawberry syrup added you can make this at home. If youre really craving a shake though and youre driving by its worth getting just be prepared to sit in your car until you drink it down being you get no lid. No other ice cream options though unless you buy the packaged ice cream that you can get anywhere.

Visiting the Hastings Dairy Store is like walking back in time. It’s a popular spot for our community. We love to stop in for soft serve ice cream. Often we’ll see several people sitting at the counter hanging out and enjoying their own ice cream. There is a small wall of coolers that contain a variety of local cheese, ice cream, milk, and other milk products.

Milkshakes taste incredibly artificial, which was not expected from a dairy store. Both the chocolate and strawberry had unnatural colors and terrible texture. Yes, it is cheap, but then again, you get what you pay for. Would not recommend the ice cream, worst I have ever had.

Small shop with mostly milk and cheese in coolers. Milkshakes and soft-serve ice cream available. We opted for the ice cream shop down the road but their prices for milk, butter, and cheese were reasonable. Just wish they had their own brand of fresh products readily available as well (from what we saw they did not).

We had heard about this place and decided to take a visit from the twin cities. It was totally worth it. We added other places around Hastings to our trip, but this was by far the top stop. The prices are cheap for the ice cream and the flavor was great! Well definitely be making another trip back.

Just a little old-fashioned Farmers Co-op where you can buy fresh dairy products and get a milk malt right there out of the machine for a dollar.

This place is the best for soft serve. Ill drive past several Culvers and Daily Queens to go here. This is a no frills self serve place. You walk in, pay a $1.00. Yes I said $1.00 for a 8 oz. cup and fill your cup with one of the three flavors they have. Vanilla and chocolate are are always available and the third flavor changes weekly.

Love it, sneak in for chocolate milk, 2% milk, and butter when I visit my brother.

Small icecreams for a dollar large for two. Mint vanilla English toffee mango chocolate and strawberry flavors. Doesnt melt quick either. Bought some cheese curds and cheese slices. Minimum 10$ for a credit card purchase but a great spot to enjoy a ice cream on wonderful Sunday. Seems to be always packed

Great prices on cheese and butter. Good prices on great milk.$10 minimum on credit card purchases and they mean it. I usually get $25-$50 worth of dairy when I go there because I dont live in Hastings anymore, but had $9.90 worth one day about a year ago, and was told no. Had to buy some butter I didnt need since I didnt have enough cash or my checkbook in that car. Good thing you can freeze butter. This rigidness unfortunately has since caused me to drive by several times and buy milk at the gas station since then when I only need three gallons of milk.

This is the best milk flavor we have ever tasted. We drive from Red Wing to Hastings Dairy Store to get 4 gallons of milk each week. Local retailers add $1.00 to $1.50 per gallon. We can buy 4 gallons at $2.85 per gallon in Hastings. Awesome products.

Recently raised prices on their shakes - still a decent price for a pretty good shake. Like (almost) every time weve been there, though, one of the machines was broken, so instead of six different flavors, there were only two. I was looking forward to a peach shake, but that one was broken.

If you havent tried their shakes then you must!!! Ive been taking my kids there for shakes for 20 years! It was always tradition on our road trips to the cities to stop at what we call the shake place. Fabulous, tasty shakes for a buck! Good memories!

The service was fast and the ice cream was cheap. The place was packed but we sat outside and enjoyed our shakes. They advertised a bunch of flavors on the signs, but most of the machines were broken, so they really just had two working options.

I just stopped by this place for the first time. I was patiently waiting in line while some man was struggling with spilled ice cream. The machine seemed broken and was not the man’s fault, from what I saw but I could be wrong.Rather than helping him, the two girls working rushed him so they could hurry up and check out the few people waiting like they were in some type of rush.The man obviously got frustrated with this and they began to roll their eyes when they finally checked him out. They then told him that there was a minimum of $10 after he had just spent a ton more on other items, causing him more stress.I tend to not get into other peoples business like this, but this place clearly ruined this mans day and mine as well because I feel terrible about what he was put through.The ice cream is ok, but the workers seem stuck up, untrained, and as if they want to hurry through customers to be on their phones.Very poor service & will not be returning.

Great iced milk icecream cup here for $1. Best bargain in Hastings, kids love it. Only 3 flavors to choose from though, vanilla, chocolate, and one more (rotates).

WOW! Just wow. Employees seem like they have been trained by monkeys and the only way they are able to function is if they have a cell phone in their hand! I waited 10 minutes for the girl working at the counter to finish talking to who I thought was a customer but ended up being her boyfriend! Malts are OK but once I heard from an employee that they will sometimes use expired malt mix or what is left for expired dairy products and use it in their shake machine for malts! I dont even know if that is legal! Another problem that should be addressed is the fowl odor of spoiled milk when entering and exiting the store. The smell outside is the dumpster and I was told and the smell inside is just spoiled milk. The store in general is extremely run down the coolers are old, the stools are rough, and if you lean a bit on the counter it starts to move. The manager seems a bit perverted and I have only seen girls working the dairy bar so it does raise a eyebrow. In conclusion I will be taking my business elsewhere!

After 6 years of our business they have lost all of our respect. Putting on a benefit for our son to get him a service dog and we have been asking the places we go to most often for donations. A follow up phone call resulted in being treated with complete disrespect by the office manager, being called a liar and being hung up on. Grace goes a long way, and we have heard a lot of very kind nos. Being told that they cant help is appreciated rather than telling someone that they are lying about their child they have seen suffer for over 5 years and just trying to make their life easier.

This is an ice cream store, not a creamery. The Hastings Co-Op is no competition for nearby Wisconsin creameries and thats a disappointment. The cheese sold there comes from everywhere but Hastings and the selection is pitiful and non-competitive as are the prices.
