Love this place and the service was excellent. We met the owner and he made our stay very memorable. I dont say this lightly as my wife and I are avid travelers and have eaten at places from coast to coast. On top of the excellent services the food was outstanding. Highly recommend you try this place and find out for yourself.
Store was dead nobody even in there and plenty of people in the back laughing and having a good time yet it still somehow took them over 30 MINUTES to get me my food
Great place to work and eat!!! Management is super great and respectful.... making it a fun place to work. The food is awesome... always getting rave reviews from customers!!! Come visit us!!!..
Food was overpriced and not that good.Edit: I also see the owner does not take criticismtoo well, so I would like to add poor customer service to my review. An owner is supposed to try to satisfy negative feedback, not argue with a paying customer. Next time I’m back in Ohio visiting family, I will be sure to stay clear and advise them to do the same.
Just based on how condescending the management and owner is, even in some of the review replys, will not eat here again. Food is mediocre at best when its correct. If I could give it zero stars I would. First red flag should be that NO ONE wants to work here, and I dont blame them. Yikes.
Food was cold and looked like it was sitting for a while. Sorry, maybe lukewarm at best. And when the issue was brought to the attention of who I believe was the owner he lashed out and called us liars and kicked us out. We were being polite as we too own restaurants and understand mistakes happen. I guess his ego is larger than his profits.
Waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for a simple chicken and cheese sandwich. Food wasnt really all that good, especially for the price. Both mens and womens restrooms were locked and management said keys were lost or stolen? Not on my repeat list.
A much greasier and blander version of Melt. Was never a fan before and now they came out with a pretty garbage take on the American workforce because people are demanding a living wage. Definitely better places to get food in Kent and Akron.Edit: the owner says this is a fake review. As someone who is a Kent State alumna and previously Kent state faculty, I frequently patronized local businesses for meals and I truly was disappointed by the food at this establishment after multiple times trying to give it another chance. I chose now to review because now I see they not only have a disappointing product, but also a disappointing take on the American workforce as many began standing up for themselves for better wages. There are plenty of local businesses in both Akron and Kent that I have praised over the years, this is not one of them. Hit up Ray’s or Mr. Zubs.
Dont eat here. They have no respect for their workers or anyone in the service industry who is trying to better by their families. The owner thinks his bottom line is morr important than people keeping a roof over their heads or feeding their kids.
I am absolutely disgusted. I am never ever going to eat at a restaurant that 1) openly attacks the unemployed, 2) openly attacks people searching for jobs, 3) openly and personally attacks anyone who has even polite criticism.Very poorly managed.
Twisted is easily one of my favorite places in Kent. They have a large menu with unique sandwiches named after famous Kent State alumni, surrounded by KSU memorabilia and other cool decor. Food is always great quality and typically comes out fast. My only issues are sometimes combos can be a little pricey and my favorite sandwich got discontinued over the past year- but its definitely worth a stop when in Kent!
If I could rate zero stars, I would. Sub-par food despite owners insistence they use high-quality unprocessed ingredients.Management appears to lack a sense of professionalism on social media. They block anyone who makes a complaint and berate customers.Additionally, the owner personally harassed me in DMs on social media. Not cool. Dont support this business. Go literally anywhere else.
Overpriced, skimpy, and unsanitary. After 45mins of waiting, The server accidentally gave my food to another table, then after the other customer put his hands all over my sandwich and realized it was the wrong order, the server grabbed the plate off their table and tried serving it to me. Absolutely disgusting. I am never going there ever again. The server was a young tall man with dark curly hair and glasses not a woman.... and being new is no excuse for that...
The food is SO GOOD. And they have a lot of options, maybe an overwhelming amount but just take your time, the staff doesn’t rush you. I’m a vegetarian and I get the Ben Curtis and it’s so very good. The ingredients feel fresh, they make it fast. The milkshakes are really good, it’s always clean on the inside. The seating area is small and sometimes the staff can be a little short with you but other than that. Great place.
I loved this place when living in Kent. The food was always delicious. Service was always friendly and fast. It was a cozy atmosphere. Quick dine in service. Also had quick pick up service. Just an overall wonderful experience. Great place to go with a group of friends for a lunch date. Clean restrooms. Outdoor seating not available, but it is close to some great places to eat outdoors. Safe environment.
I honestly love their food, DoorDash sucks though. My ultimate issue is with the unprofessional manner in which the ownership can’t own their incompetence. Then decides to harass people when they themselves even raised their wages. Kudos for raising the wages, but you don’t have to block people who order from you over 50 times a year from your Facebook page. I’ll be going to melt and the place in Akron Main Street from now on simply because of the ignorant way the owner treated people and the harassment I’m seeing continue towards others. Part of being a leader is owning when you’re wrong.
Don’t go to this place. They seem to have a severe lack of empathy for people, and for some reason feel the need to make things political rather than just saying “hey I’m sorry were short staffed!”. And then dirty delete the post and then the owner (Steven Tannoun) privately messages people to harass them after they comment. People don’t owe you labor. Not their fault that people would rather work somewhere that pays more. Maybe be kinder and people would want to work for you, and eat at your establishment.(Also, I would like to add The owner has now said front staff starts at 10 on multiple occasions and now that people are saying that isn’t enough suddenly they keep saying it’s $15-20… id like to speak to the cashiers who make 15 then. Or cooks who make 20. And no, plus tips does not count. People shouldn’t have to rely on tips. Base pay should be enough, and tips should be extra.)They’ve now made their Facebook reviews private and are blocking anyone who disagrees with them (after harassing them first, of course). Almost as if they have something to hide.
The food was mid at best. Trying to be the Wal-Mart version of Melt is pretty lame. And the owner, Steve, likes to attack people in their DM’s They complain about being short staffed…I wonder why. I’m Steve is even more insulting and bullying in person. Would NOT recommend.
The owner is messaging women on Facebook who shared his deleted highly political post that he made on the businesses account and harassing them. He treats other business owners poorly. He abuses his staff. His menu is a rip off of the lock view and melt. The food is subpar, you can get better at those restaurants. I won’t ever be going back.
The menu is amazing, but some items are not great. Just stick with the more basic sand-witches :)
Maybe you should realize that a lot of you customers are current or previous food service industry workers before you insult them on your Facebook. I know one place that will never get my business again.
Anna was extremely knowledgeable and patient in helping us navigate the vegan friendly options. It was refreshing to find someone who actually knows the ingredients they are serving customers. A must place to try your next time in Kent.
Service was a little slow. Bit the food was really good.
The food is fine, greasy and a tad expensive but lots of choices. However, the lack of professionalism from the owner has put a large damper on the experience of eating here. Would love to see growth from the ownership to feel comfortable enough to go back. As it currently stands, issuing purely performative apologies, and attacking people on social media for fair criticisms is not a great look.Edit- Please note that my comments refer directly to posts made by the Twisted Meltz facebook page. Attempting to argue with me here and now shows how much you have to learn.Edit 2: This post made on the official media is not ok.
The owner is posting absurd political views on Facebook and then attacking people in their DMs and in comments. I didn’t like their overpriced food before but DEFINITELY not now.
Soooo good ... absolutely delicious.... and fast... convenient... I order and within 10 minutes its ready for pickup...variety also
The food is delicious but the trip to get it always seems to be fought with issue. Ive had to wait almost an hour on a couple occasions now and I just watch someone wait 50 minutes to just br told sorry we dont have your order, someone must have taken it for a place with such good food the management is a nightmare and food rolls out so slow from the kitchen
Mediocre food combined with the wrong order (DoorDash) justifies a 1 star review! Topping it off, using their email form from their own website garnered no response! Paying for “additions” on an item and not receiving them is nothing short of stealing. Not responding to a complaint is nothing short of ignorance! Lost a customer!
Great food and service. I highly suggest the chicken and waffles! Skip the sauce and get the syrup on the side. Pairs well with the not your fathers root beer!
Absolutely love melted cheese! And Twisted MELTZ has their own unique twist on it. Each sandwich is named after a celebrity. Several from Fox 8 as they have been here a few times.Certainly worth stopping into this place along Acorn Alley. It has indoor as well as outdoor seating.A bonus is their tator tots! Not that many places serve these, and very few serve them well. Twisted MELTZ does it right
Best sandwich shop ever Im always coming here and recommending to my friends!
The best place to go for grilled cheese!
Love this establishment, came here for dinner while on vacation, and restaurant was very cosy and inviting. Great ambience and music, and extremely pleasant staff. Food was amazing, highly recommend to anyone in the area!
Food is gross and owner is wack, stay far far away :)edit: he replies with a staged video about woke culture. Hes actually a clown LOL
Well I hadnt left a comment until the business responded to this post claiming Im a troll, when I was a patron and had a dissatisfied time... definitely not going back now.
This place has been amazing since day one and has only gotten better. One of my favorite things to spoil myself with lol
Havent eaten here, but picked up a couple orders. With that being said, customer service can use some training. I went to pick up an order that apparently had a couple minutes left. After 5 minutes I was informed the order would be another 15 minutes, as the cashier was giving the order to the kitchen help.
The food is amazing for the price. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the total for my meal. Would definitely recommend.
Friendly staff. Nice and clean interior. Food tastes great!
Best I’ve ever had ❤️ 🧀
Really great food although they did misplace my sissters onion rings
Great place with amazing food! Definitely try their garlic bread cheese curds. They are the best!
Overpriced and not that good. Ate here a few times over the last several years and generally my sandwich is falling apart and impossible to eat, or cold.
Its located in the acron alley. Its near the Kent State campus. Clean, wide selection of celebrity named items.
Never been, and now never will. Take a look in the mirror before blaming everyone else for your problems.
Twisted MELTZ has a wide variety of sandwich choices for a quality lunch, or even dinner, option. The majority of food choices are a bit heavy for breakfast, but head there during the day and youll find something that will surely be able to sate your appetite. As a sandwich shop, the serving sizes may be a bit small for dinner, but if you have the time make sure to give this quaint restaurant a go.
Great food if you have an hour to wait! Front person looks at you like they want a tip to hand you food. The delivery tickets come in and two got filled before my order. My wife went to the Pita Pit next door and they made it, ate and cleaned up and waited for us for ten minutes. 41 minutes to get our food done. Ridiculous!
Excellent and unique food. I will definitely be back when in town!
Never been bad but Ive never been impressed. Given the other options in the area Id try something else. Good milkshakes though.
I am glad my sister decided to move back to Kent because now I get to visit again and get some Twisted Meltz. The Jack Lambert, the Lou Holtz, the Don King....so many tasty sandwiches and their fries are the best!!!
This is insane. The owner should feel bad for acting the way they are. Unprofessional, whether theyre in the right or the wrong
Overpriced when I did go there but won’t be going back after seeing how the owner handles himself and the business’ social media accounts
Twisted Melt had a lot of interesting combinations for grilled cheese. I had the Dolph Ziggler and it was tasty. The prices are okay, and the service was very good. Casual. Overall, I would recommend as a unique option.
Good sandwiches, but overall, experience was just okay. Would go back, although dont think Ill crave it. Small seating area, but in a nice, updated area of town.
Not a big melt person, but they have so many other awesome options! The fried chicken is always so good, as well as their battered fries. Always have had a good experience anytime I come in.
The owner thinks he’s entitled to cheap labor and blasts people on social media for not settling for the bread crumbs he’s willing to pay. Just go to Melt.
Food was delicious. I had the Nick Saban which reminded me of Red Robins Ghost Tavern in regards to flavor and spiciness.
Id rather spend my unemployment checks at a different restaurant.
I dont like to give out 5 stars so easy but this one was not earned that way!! The service was quick and efficient, food was phenomenal and fresh. The menu was not entirely updated but the menu items they did have were great!! Would recommend to anyone
You exactly the reason why I’m 1 staring this place
Took the wife to lunch and it was outstanding! My recommendation is the wayne dawson!!!
Pretty cool little shop w essential oils and energy stones, some clothes.. mexican baja hoodies and some random spiritual items its worth a quick stop. Very friendly, honest woman running the place!
Unique, delicious selections.
Actually disgusting. Food and owner
The food you receive is amazing; however, during the pandemic I’ve only ordered carry out and have often received incomplete orders. I would continue to come back just maybe check your bag before leaving.
Id like to start out by saying I have always loved this restaurant up until my recent unpleasant experience. I ordered my dinner over the phone and was told it would be ready in 10 -15 minutes. I work in the food service so I can understand when it takes a little bit longer than the estimated time given. I waited for about 15 minutes inside the restaurant and observed some unacceptable things. They let a customer in with no mask on pick up his food and he stood there for about 2-3 minutes waiting for them to bag it and get it together . I am not here to get these girls in trouble because I know it can be boring sometimes at work when its slow but could you at least try to hide the fact that youre on your phone on the front line. Here is what really made me not want to eat at this establishment again. THE COOKS WERE NOT WEARING MASKS!!! The people making and breathing on the food are not wearing a mask, It wasnt even like they had them pulled down they didnt have them on period. I could report you guys to health department and get you fined or even shut down for this. I get it people dont want to wear them but if I can wear mine for an 8 hour shift over a grill so can everyone else. To top it all off I get home to eat my food and my tater tots are completely charred to a crisp. I couldnt even get them re made if I wanted to because by the time I got home you guys were closed. I am seriously so disappointed with the lack of care this business showing towards there customers especially in a time like this.
Horrible experience. Then owner gets off on insulting customers on social media. Very odd people.
College sandwich shop. Decent prices. Ok food. Ok service.
Sandwich and milkshake were fantastic, cant wait to come back soon.
The GF Ben Curtis was excellent.
Its just a sandwich shop. Theres not a lot to say about it, except that it is open on Mondays, which most of the restaurants downtown Kent are not.I wont rush back, but if theres nothing else open, you can get some food.
My go2 spot! I try something new every time I come In.
Unusual and delicious themed sandwiches named after celebrities who attended Kent State University. The tator tots are truly cooked just right and so tasty. Prices are reasonable and food comes fast.
The five of us went and we all thought it was great. My sandwich could have had a bit more meat but it was still pretty tasty. Reasonable prices.
One of my favorite places to go thanks to the variety on the menu. Definitely worth a visit
Great food, reasonable prices.
6/5 stars if possible, Twisted Meltz never misses. Most inventive and delicious sandwiches in Kent, OH. I highly suggest the Dri Archer to any chicken bacon ranch lover.
Absolutely delicious 😋
Very good. Just busy a lot.
So delicious food and nice people.
I haven’t stepped foot in Twisted Meltz, however during this pandemic I’ve ordered from them on many occasions using Door Dash! The food is always great, warm, and delicious. Anytime I am make an add on or adjustment it always received and translated to my orderI’ve never had a disappointing meal. Each time I order I try something different and love it every time!
The people who work there are great!
I ordered a Jack Lambert which is supposed to come with marinara sauce because its kind of like chicken parmesan. I ordered delivery through their website which uses doordash. When I got my order there was no marinara sauce at all. I called them and they told me there was nothing they could do and they couldnt send anyone else. She told me all I had to do was go into doordash and mark an item as missing, giving me a refund. This was a lie. Because I used doordash through their website, it didnt keep track of my order through the app. When I called back someone answered and immediately hung up on me. When I called back again she said she would call doordash. Then I never heard from her again. The message of the story is NEVER order through their website. If theres anything wrong with your order you wont be able to do anything about it and the staff will lie to you.
