These people are awesome. Make a great product
I really wanted this to work out. I paid these guys a LOT of money to do a whole range of work on my van. Dropped my van off, and waited. and waited. and waited. Really poor communication, everything took way longer than expected. When I finally got my van back, the work was low quality and incomplete. Communication with them has ranged from non-existent to outright rude. I would advise you to take your van and money elsewhere.
Horrible customer service. They charge way too much for their products and service. Van life is about taking pride in your own conversion and craftsmanship, not paying someone 16K for a pop top GTFO!
I had Colorado Camper Van do most of the buildout on my Promaster camper van. I originally wanted to do the work myself, but after talking to Matt and seeing how long it was going to take me, I had CCV do the insulation, floor, walls/ceiling/lights fans, bed, kitchen, upper cabinets and electrical wiring. I worked with Matt to do a pretty trick custom wall/insulation setup to allow for as much width as possible and an adjustable bed to fit my bikes underneath. They also did a great job with the kitchen, and ran the wiring on the solar/battery setup with outlets/light switches/etc (I installed the panels). All in all, the fit and finish are pretty great, and Im very satisfied with the work. The pics below are how I dropped the van off and how i picked it up. I built the bench covered with the blanket and bike drawer, and everything else is CCV. Ill be putting in some finishing touches once I get some adventuring in and decide how I want to finish the buildout. Thanks for a rad van guys!
Seriously. These guys are awesome. Old school. Love it. The kind of vibe you dont see too much anymore.
I have had my CCV for 11 months and words can hardly describe the joy I feel each time I am in the loft. I have already slept up there 100 nights. The workmanship is excellent and performance flawless. Derek worked with me to make a couple of exotic modifications come true. If you buy one, be prepared to become a CCV evangelist.
After a lot of research, we decided to use CO Campervan to build out the interior of our Sprinter 4x4 and used Sportsmobile for the pop-top. When we started looking into options, CO Campervan didnt have their new low profile top and they were newer to doing tops so we chose Sportsmobile instead since theyre well known, have been around a long time, and the top costs about the same. However, we did choose CO Campervan for the interior. They did a great job on the inside and I felt that their prices were really reasonable compared with other outfitters. My only complaint is that they were difficult and sometimes impossible to communicate with. My guess is that theyre growing very rapidly and havent seemed to be able to staff appropriately to meet demand. At times, I couldnt get anyone to return my emails, phone calls, voicemails for weeks at a time. They had a wonderful salesman, Matt who left the company while we were still working through some things with the build. After he left, it was nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone. Im not sure if I would use them again. I really liked the product but dealing with them was a big hassle at times. They really need a dedicated person to answer the phone and additional sales people to handle the volume.
Amazing customer service! I bought a van from an owner who had gotten the work done at CCV. Mark, the person I spoke to, spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me, because I had a TON of questions about the solar system. He didnt have to do this, I wasnt a direct customer, but I am so very grateful for the time he spent explaining my system to me. Would highly, highly recommend them!!!
Great company!!! They do quality work and do a good job tailoring to the needs of the customer throughout the design and build process. I loved getting to tour the production area and see all of the cool builds they were working on. The employees are all “adventure junkies” or “vanlifers” and are really passionate about the work that they perform. I would definitely recommend Colorado Camper Van to anyone looking to get the most out of their adventure vehicle.
These guys have a great product. We had them install a full cut-out pop-top on our 2016 Ford Transit in January 2019. They delivered on time and the color-match was perfect. We have since taking it on several trips and couldnt be happier with it.The staff has been very helpful and responsive. Before we were even a prospective customer, they answered a ton of questions we had about vans in general and went out of their way to help us find the right van.
These guys are the best!!!
Awesome staff that does quality work but will also get totally distracted talking to you about van life and adventures. They installed a heater for me and also gave me a lot of advice for stuff I was doing myself. I also just liked walking around their lot and checking out all the sweet rigs they are building. The pop tops they make are really nice, and add so much space. My next van will definitely have one!
Derek is wonderful to work with. Hes super nice, does excellent work and really cares and is passionate about what he does. Hes also a great source of information when trying to decide on the best vehicle to modify. I would and have recommend him to everyone thats interested in a modify!
Theyre the Best there is!
Derek and Amber and the whole team here are excellent. Great work. Great products and very helpful...worth waiting on the list to get a CCV top and more!
While I was making some modifications I caused a short in my system about 1 hour before leaving for a weekend camping trip. I was able to get Derek on the phone and he walked me through a resolution in just a few minutes. I said thanks at the time, but thanks again!
Great company, hard working and committed to excellence.
We just spent the first night in our van since having a pop top installed by CCV. Let me start by saying we are very happy with the end product and think CCV does good work. However, the company has a lot of room to grow and improve.1.) our van was 2 weeks late past the projected deadline. This cost us money in cancelled plane tickets and we had to find other camping arrangements for our already scheduled July 4th camping trip (which they took off the entire week despite missing a deadline).2.) they were not even done with the van when I arrived. I had to wait while they finished adding time to my already long travel day.3.) they didn’t even vacuum or clean their mess up before returning the van to me. I think if you spend 15K on a product you deserve to have it returned sparkly and ready to roll4.) a couple design flaws we have noticed so far such as the light controls being below the loft where you can not reach when you are up there.I suppose I would use CCV again...but there really isn’t another option (local) for Chevys.I do know we are stoked about our van and will be headed out camping as often as possible!
We had a CCV Pop Top installed on our GMC Savana this past January. We werent really able to use our pop top until recently and now I feel like I can write a reveiw.CCV did a great job - quality of work was excellent, lift mechanism and fan work smoothly and easily and the bed is very comfy!Chris in sales did a fantastic job - was easy to work with, met us on a Saturday to pick up our van and was very knowledgeable about their product.I highly recommend CCV. Remember this is all custom work so be patient!!!
Our CCV poptop is great. We had them install the upstairs on our 2016 Ford Transit. Its strong, spacious, and comfortable. Bonus: open up all the windows on top for views and light. We recommend them.
They did a very nice job with the pop top on our van. They do custom work, so the customization options are endless. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They are very busy, so it could be a long wait to get your vehicle in.
Wow. Can not say enough about how cool these folks are. Quality of work is second to none. If you need a van tricked out for camping this is the place.
Friendly people that are ready and willing to help a vanner or RVer out! They do van builds!
I have no idea how this company is still in business. There have been so many problems with our build and Derek could care less. He also does not honor his supposed warranty either. The quality and craftsmanship of the build is on the level of an 8th grade wood shop. The owner has no shortage of excuses and blames everyone but himself. When we picked up our van we could not have been more disappointed. We were given a 22% discount which did little to ease our pain. We thought the deposit was worth more than build itself. We were expecting to pick up the van with all systems working flawlessly. Instead, we were constantly troubleshooting various issues taking valuable time away from our vacation. Since picking up the van I have spent over 50 hours fixing defects. Below is a short list:- disassembly of water pump several times due to shavings being trapped in diaphragm (blowing out the shavings within the water tank with compressed air during installation would have quickly prevented the issue from occurring. Was this done? Nope)- Incorrect hose clamp used on the espar hydronic 5d heating system resulting in a gallon of antifreeze leaking in the cabin and below van on to the ground.- Maxxair fan shorting out 7 times since picking up the van.- Blinds are a joke. Had to insert support rods to prevent blinds from flipping over.- Solar panel breaking free while driving down the freeway due to only half of the required bolts being installed. Bolts sheared off while fastening bracket to roof rack and instead of ordering another kit from manufacturer they left it as is with only 2 of the 4 bolts fastening the panel to the roof rack. This was a common practice throughout the build. Along with Derek, the installers take no pride in their work.- Cabinets are a joke. Wide gaps between double doors, doors not even mounted square or flush with adjacent doors, latches don’t work properly requiring several attempts to close door- Heater works 50% of the time requiring the engine to be running in order to heat the cabin. Still troubleshooting this issue and has been a problem since day one. Quality control does not exist with this company.Update : After having to replace the screen 3 times spending $$$$, a shop recommended that they re-engineer the design of the install. This shop informed us that there were several short cuts taken during the original install leading to the constant repair (won’t bore you with the details). After being re-engineered, tucking the intake in to the frame, among other changes, the heater hasn’t had a problem since. We have run the heater hundreds of hours without issue. CCV’s build practices continue to affect us financially.- Bench not built to specifications communicated (There is no one more disorganized Derek). Had to fabricate an extension to meet our requirements.- Curtains are a joke. Incorrect material used and not built to specifications communicated.- Running boards are very cheap and ineffective. Drivers side running board could not even hold my weight (180 lbs). It bent and had to be removed.- Roof rack is a joke. It is very cheap and diamond plate platform bent when standing on it. Falls well short of the $2,500 price tag. This will be replaced by a reputable company in the future. The Good:- Moab bed is fantastic. Very sturdy and easy to break down.- Refrigerator does not require much energy to keep cool and looks great. In the end we were just happy to get our van out of their shop so no more harm could be done. We are also ecstatic that we will never have to deal with Derek again. It was the most frustrating experience we have ever had to endure. If you are considering having CCV do a build for you, keep your expectations as low as they can go and maybe you won’t be disappointed. My advice would be to spend a little more and have the work done by a reputable company. There would be far less frustration and it would cost less in the end.
Fantastic customer service, the owner went above and beyond to assist me in my project. I highly recommend Colorado Camper Van!
They ripped me off, my investment is damaged.
Doesnt even deserve a single star at this point. The owner would rather make excuses than actually fix the problems. He has already developed a bad reputation in the camping van community for shoddy workmanship and poor communication. I have photos, videos of all the problems, and I drove through 5 states to have this crap done to my van... dont say I havent warned you!
Very informative looking forward to doing business with you in the future
Ive waited a long time to write a review for Colorado Camper Vans, because I really wanted to give them a fair chance.I did a lot of research before deciding to go with CCV. It was the most expensive purchase of my life (more expensive than the van itself), so it was a BIG DECISION for me. Ultimately, even though CCV was a little more expensive and the install took much longer than sportsmobile for the pop top installation, it looked like a better product. At the time, CCV didnt have any reviews but I went for it anyway.I had to arrange flights to drop off the van and pick it up, my biggest mistake was NOT DOING A FULL VISUAL AND FUNCTION TEST BEFORE LEAVING WITH THE VAN. Unfortunately, I only noticed a day later, after driving back down to AZ that there was a rip in the corner of the canvas, also unfortunate that the rip has been getting bigger over time. A week later, my $800 fan shorted out in the roof and stopped working. CCV paid my gas to drive back up there, but still very inconvenient non the less. The fan issue was resolved but not the torn canvas, which still continues to propagate. Within the past couple months, the roof around the fan has begun to leak water when it rains, leaving water damage to my ceiling and floor. CCV fix was to mail me some $8 lap sealant.Right now, Im still waiting for an answer to have my canvas repaired. Ill update this review if it is.All in all, I really wish I had a read a review like this before going to CCV. Hopefully, this review serves you with the information you need before spending $8k to have a hole cut in your van. Until CCV has some kind of quality control, dont take your van to them. I would consider Sportmobile, you dont have to guess about their quality. If you do decided to go with CCV, PLEASE set aside a day to inspect and test your van before you drive it off. Getting these issues resolved can be a NIGHTMARE.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR VAN TO THESE GUYS. They are not quality in any way and you have to battle them to make things right. Not worth spending your money with CCV. It will only lead to headaches and heartache.
Really not a together place at all
