We took my familys beloved Magnavox Hi-Fi (from the 1950s) to Downtown Sound to see if they could bring it back to life, and after LOTS of hard work on their part, it sounds as good as it did when I was a kid! Thank you to Peyton and Joe for not giving up on this challenging project, and bringing back not only the music, but so many golden memories!

We have purchased 2 vintage receivers and a beautiful pair of vintage speakers, a lots of vinyl from this small business. We have always had a wonderful experience and any questions or needs we had they have always been helpful and knowledgeable. This last weekend we wanted to see if we could find a system for our son as a house warming gift. He has become a vinyl collector as we are. He does not have the equipment to enjoy his collection. We were not greeted as we entered the shop and we went directly to the area where turntables and receivers are. We were looking at what was available and talking about speakers they had and looking to see if the young lady was going to offer us help. There was another man there who was talking about everything under the sun but not shopping, just general conversation. We kept waiting for the young lady to offer to help us for several minutes. She never looked our way even when we were straining to look at items that were in an area where they were clearly not items for sale. We just finally gave up hope and decided to leave. She wished us a nice day as we excited the business. We were pretty disappointed that she never asked us if we needed help or if we had questions about anything. We went in fully planning to purchase a system or at least a receiver and speakers. It felt like our patronage was not important at all. We have spent lots of time and money at this shop since it opened because it is a great place to find amazing vinyl, old and new, and we live right around the corner. After being fully ignored on our last visit I am not sure we will be back. There is another small vinyl business in Fort Collins we will check out and we will look elsewhere for equipment needs.

I love this shop. Not a huge vinyl selection, but I always walk out with something good. They had the new KG vinyl from King Gizzard last week (which I grabbed!) and I would love to see more of their stuff and other modern psych/garage/acid rock/etc. Always helpful and friendly. Keep your business local and your vinyl spinning!

I had inquired about a couple of albums that had to be ordered. When I asked, she told me that orders had to be in by Monday morning in order to be delivered by Thursday or Friday of the same week. Well, me being me, I didnt think to call in in time. I stopped by the shop Monday early afternoon fully expecting to be told my albums would be a week out or more. I ordered, I paid and I left. Imagine my absolute delight when I got a call on that same Thursday telling me the albums had come in! To me this is exceptional service! Its a nice surprise! Thank you Downtown Sound!

Pretty good selection of used vinyl in mostly very good condition for good prices, especially late 60s-early 80s stuff. The owner is very knowledgeable and has been very nice and happy to help in my experience, going above and beyond what I would consider the call of duty.Leaving one star off for room for improvement. Certain genres are underrepresented. They arent the most generous store regarding trade-ins, though that may be based on my experience offering the same type of thing they already have plenty of.Overall very good experiences and there are always great deals to be found for the open-minded music adventurer.

Great people who worked there only reason for 3 stars otherwise would be lower. Biggest issue is they have super limited selection especially in new vinyl. Have stopped by a few times and lucky if I see 1 brand new release. Honestly go to Barnes and Noble if you are looking for new vinyl. Old vinyl you may be lucky and find what your looking for though.

Amazing audio equipment, what i saw was way out of my price range. the last time I was in I kind of heart gushed over half of it. I use to shop here all the time over the last 5 Year’s, not any more however. Ive witnessed the woman behind the register speak down to customers constantly, rip off a friend that sold her vinyl, and generally act annoyed that she has to be helping you. She never seemed to have a problem with me until recently, Decent collection of vinyl, most everything is overpriced, especially music equipment. Don’t think I’m coming back, sorry.

Horrible experience. She was so worried about our 20 month old son she drove us out. She lost $50 in record sales and probably $400 in a service I was seeking. Was my son cranky? Yes. Did the owner(?) need to hover and take things out my hands? No. I played a record at a very low volume and she insisted on turning it off because of the noise. Please treat this place as a record store and not a museum. I had a much better experience at Electric City and my son was even in more need of a nap that day.

Excellent family-run record store that also repairs and refurbished high end home audio equipment, amps, and guitars. They also sell some instrument accessories and supplies, including guitar strings and school band and orchestra stuff.Dont buy some ugly USB record player from best buy, go here and get something with some character. They almost always have better used players in the same price range, in excellent shape and all set up! Usually some used PA gear for sale too. Good selection of records, I have found some gems here. Good prices, great staff, unique items, and special orders are usually there within a week. Highly recommended.
