It was hot outside, and we were looking for two things: watermelon, and some soda water. Brothers Marketplace seemed like the closest market for us to go to. Parking was difficult because the market is located in a mixed use building where the apartments rent for probably too much. Be careful driving around here...the speed bumps and ramps But, if you need any specific food, it is probably here! The market is smaller than areas down the street, so if you are looking for something super specific, you may not find it. However, this place is packed with visual splendor and well stocked shelves. Prepared foods are a strength, and this is a place where you wont have to worry about doing all of the work to get your food on a plate.

The store is okay, too bad the parking is behind the building. They have enough product for daily needs, but if you are looking for something extra, definitely need to go to a bigger grocery store. You can find all types of meat, they do have lobster, chicken and ground beef. You can order Deli, good selection of cheese.Like I said, the basics for your house.

From what it looks like this is going to be amazing for Waltham residents. The fish looks so much fresher than Hannaford’s. I have stopped eating seafood because the only seafood accessible was at Hannaford and was dry and looked old and not healthy. I think this market is going to solve tons a problems with fresh meat and poultry and fish. The cheese looks so good, and the vegetables and oh my, the baked goods. Crazy.Very excited for this market!

Very nice market. All Indian goods available here along with frozen foods. The place has all the grocery material, different types of pickles, Indian brand biscuits like Parle-G, Tiger, etc.The place also has frozen roti, chapati, paratha with some special additions like paneer paratha, mix veg paratha. The staff was really helpful. The place is good for people who are into Indian cuisine.

For me? It means so much more when a grocery store has a great selection of common and unique foods alike, but Brothers has so much more. My son(4) and I had stopped in for a few groceries. We were welcomed with open arms and bright smiles. Everyone from the bakery to the kitchen were so sweet and made us feel like family right away. My children and I have been going through a very unfortunate crisis period in our lives and being new to the area, this is definitely is in the top 3 thus far of favorite places in Waltham! If I could give more stars, I would. Thank you Brothers Marketplace and all your staff !

Great variety. Full hot bar & prepared cold items as well. A mix of traditional groceries, import and specialty items. Cornucopia of cheeses and baked goods. The pricing is...interesting. Fresh, soft-shelled crab for only $3-$4. Duck breast for $5? Creamed honey for $5, whereas Star sells it for $8?!? Yet regular produce is seemingly double the normal price...? Also, the pre-cooked items are rather pricey - one seasoned chicken breast for $9? Thats the price of a meal at Russos. Really though, its a foodie delight! Staff is very helpful and friendly - cheerful in a genuine way. Everything is new and shiny. One small note - some limits on organic items. For example, there is dairy & a few other items available from local farms, but no organic OJ, etc. Overall, an A experience.

Take your business - and your sanity - elsewhere! Careless, rude, obnoxious employees. Overpriced everything. Moldy premade meals and produce that is anything but fresh. I cant find any redeeming qualities about this place, and talk to most real locals in the Waltham-Brookline-Newton area and theyll tell you the same. Management doesnt care to help, either, at least when I brought my experiences to their attention.

AVOID this terrible place and save your sanity and money. Customer service couldn’t be less of a priority. The store is dirty. Bugs flying around food on the floor. Very gross-looking premade food. And best of all, a terribly rude employee at the dessert/coffee counter who was either intentionally playing clueless or truly didn’t care to help whatsoever. I can’t possibly understand where any positive reviews and experiences come from.

Typical high-end grocery store: overpriced (and not huge selections for certain products) but has a pretty great prepared foods section if youre willing to pay. The chicken salad is delicious, as are other foods they prepare. But like I said, you can get the same groceries down the street at Hannaford for way less. Also, the cashiers are always high-school kids who couldnt care less about being there and pay little to no mind. You get the feeling you are inconveniencing them by appearing in line. You figure for the markup youre incurring with run-of-the-mill groceries, the store could actually hire cashiers that show pride and who want to be there.

The good: great variety of high-end groceries in a small location. Theyre my quick stop for fancy heirloom tomatoes and brioche buns. Also best Cannolis in town; they freshly pipe in the (cream-forward, low ricotta) filling when you buy them so the shell isnt soggy. The bad: Everything is expensive and marked up. If youre looking for a one-stop-shop, youll find the same quality, better variety, and lower prices at stores like Trader Joes or Whole Foods. Personally I prefer to buy meats and fish from Whole Foods. For some strange reason, cheese is dollars more expensive than anywhere else.

Racist staff. Its unbelievable. One white dude who works there kept lurking around us as we tried samples at the store. He came up to us and made a comment about one of the products we tried (Oh you liked it.) And we thought maybe the guy was just being friendly. When we moved onto another part of the store, we were surprised that he approached us again to comment about what we were sampling (Trying out the salsa, huh?). At this point, we knew that it was not a case of friendliness, but rather a case of staff, policing two customers. I dont know why he would do that but, obviously, he made us feel very uncomfortable. Ive heard stories of people of color being followed at stores by staff in suspicion of shoplifting. I never thought it would happen to us, two women of color, who were there for the first time and simply trying out the new place. I would never go back to this store again!!!

Nice quality produce (although not enough organic), meats, and variety of products; baked goods looked nice as well. But very pricey -- Id say even more so than Whole Foods. If you dont care about price, fine. But you can save a bundle and still get good quality at Hannafords, just a few blocks away.

In terms of layout and product, the store is quite stunning. Produce, desserts, meat counter all look great. My issue is with pricing. Sure, the people who live in the apartments above can afford it, but look at the surrounding community: College students and mid to lower class families. Looking at all the prices I could spend literally half as much going up the street and shopping at Market Basket, which unfortunately I will continue to do.Please know that besides a quick lunch from the salad bar or ice cream from their counter after dinner one night, this is not a grocery store priced for the majority of Walthams community.

HORRIBLE, terse, disrespectful service from the lady at the coffee counter, who is so obviously mad to be there and never bothered to remove her headphones. The place isn’t even clean, with vegetables and products on the floor and no employees doing their job to help customers or clean the store. Everything is considerably more expensive than any of the endless grocery options elsewhere. It’s just an oversized, crazily expensive version of a bodega, with terrible employees who couldn’t care less on a Saturday night.

Really tasty prepared foods, and the free samples of the cannolis were lip-smacking good. People should try the oreo-and-bacon cannoli! Cashiers are more friendly lately, too. And when Ben-and-Jerrys is at $4 a pint, Im SOLD!!!! The FISH is good, too, but I hope the manager will ask staff to minimize the fish residue on the outside of the packaging when they wrap it up for you. Thanks, Bros!

Had a chance to check them out. The store is beautiful with indoor outdoor seating for the counter food. Their grocery stock is small, but very high quality. Had a sandwich from their ready to eat counter and it was delicious! The staff is very friendly and helpful.Id love to go again, but as others have said, its really pricy. Id consider it a treat to shop here, like going to a restaurant, or shopping for the freshest ingredients to impress the inlaws with dinner 😛

Amazing addition to Waltham downtown!I read a couple of reviews where people complained about high prices in this new store. They appealed to the fact that the Waltham community is in general relatively poor. This is a total nonsense. Waltham is booming! New restaurants and new businesses open every year. New apartment complexes are being built. The demand on real estate is huge in Waltham! I dont think that Brandies and Bentley students are all coming from “poor families” either. Plus, there are plenty of cheaper stores in the neighborhood so why not purchase your groceries there instead? I would never base my opinion about a new business and write a bad review about it just because prices seem higher than average. Using that logic we can conclude that Ferrari is the worst car ever made because its not as affordable as some other cars.Brothers Market is a very good store for getting your groceries or a quick and tasty meal. This store is very clean which is a rare thing for Waltham downtown grocery stores. It has nice clean windows outside and clean floors inside. You dont smell any odors when you come inside. Staff is super-attentive and friendly. All shelves are thoroughly stocked with ideally aligned products. Food is fresh and delicious and samples from the deli section are available for free tasting. This is the second place (besides Café On The Common) where you can buy some nicely brewed coffee to go. I live nearby and I love the fact that I can just walk there. And to be fair, prices in Brothers Market are certainly lower than in Newton’s Whole Foods. In my opinion so far Brothers Market is a solid A+ grocery store that our Waltham downtown has been waiting for for a long time. Thank you Brothers and keep up doing good job.

Some opening day pains, lots of managers walking around, but thats to be expected of a first day.Store was nicely lit, and amply stocked. Would probably never have to worry about not being able to find most staples.Prices though. They seem to be priced like a convenience store capitalizing on last minute needs. Very surprising as the mark up seems to be mostly on packaged staple goods, like yogurts, cereals, etc. Noticeable compared to your Hannaford or Shaws, and if memory serves well, also pricier than the brothers in Weston.Half of the fresh goods like less common veggies looked well priced though.Onto the other part of the quick stop, prepared goods. I had just seen some good fish from the fishmonger behind the seafood aisle, so I decided to give their Nigiri a try. At 6 pieces, 3 tuna, 3 salmon for 12.99, it better be good, considering they are right on moody st. First nibble, rice was well balanced, the basis of a good sushi. But then the hopes got dashed and the curtains came off. This was not the good fish behind the counter. If it is, it wasnt decernable. No richness, no depth. A second inspection revealed an old gas station sushi trick. Pile the rice high, and round off the top. Then layer a millimeter thick piece of fish over so it looks plump. So sad because assuming they have a good fish source, the potential is there.Kind of telling of the whole store. Good asthetics, lacking in substance.
