Mustard Seed is a large healthy grocery store with a nice cafe upstairs. The cafe has been closed since covid happened though. They have a large selection of food and plants. The produce looks very fresh. I went in there on 11/07/21 and did not see any grapes or blueberries though.

I have been supporting Mustard Seed since going Vegan. I wish they would open the cafe back up and bring back the Saturday brunches. But still has a good selection of organic fruits/vegetables and nuts. Also the prepared foods and baked goods never disappoint.

We had our wedding catered by Mustard Seed and it was amazing. The food was vegan so we were concerned some people would be critical but all of the guests were raving about it. My favorite thing was mushroom bourguignon over mashed potatoes. It was to die for.The staff was also great. They all respected our mask request, when our other vendors didn’t really. The servers were so attentive to us, making sure we got to try all the food including appetizers and cake that we were too busy to get for ourselves.I would 100% recommend Mustard Seed catering for any event, especially their amazing vegan food.

I like supporting local businesses and Ive shopped at Mustard Seed a lot. However, recently their prices have become super expensive even for the same local produce that are carried by Whole Foods and Kriegers where they are being offered at a much cheaper price. Also, they need to train their rude employees on how to be courteous with their customers.

Food is always top notch fresh here. I love the Breakfast Tacos, and the Breakfast Quiche! Adding bacon to the tacos is also a delicious addition. Also, if you’re interested in ordering a juice bar drink, the ‘Sunrise Sunset’ is a winner! I highly recommend enjoying a nice breakfast here! You can’t go wrong and will not be disappointed!

We love mustard seed. Love that they have so many organic fruit selections. They also have locally grown organics. The prices are higher than moat grocers. Most of the people who shop here are upper class and not very nice so thats the only downfall. The area is nice and so are the stores but the people are just snotty. Its unfortunate. Also some of the workers here arent the friendliest. Theres on older cashier who needs to retire shes always angry and rude. But youll have that anywhere.

Great little grocery store for those looking for different options. I took my niece (who eats vegan) to the restaurant here for her birthday dinner. I had no idea they had such a great restaurant upstairs! I was expecting something cafeteria style but this was a very nice sit down restaurant with options for anyone of any eating preferences. We did a little shopping afterwards and she was pleased to find some different things to try.

Not sure where the bad reviews are coming from. This place is awesome if you like great customer service and a store full of unique healthy items. Something are a little pricey but you get what you pay and food is life. Its also in a great location near everything.

I love this store. They carry quite a few options for me to choose from. I have to mainly eat vegan and allergen free foods because of several health conditions that I have to watch. My only minor complaint is this store isnt nationwide and the prices can be a bit high. However that doesnt stop me from coming here to shop when I need to because I love their selection.

Very clean store in a trendy spot. The prices are too high for what its worth. I get the supporting local and no pesticides, but 3$ for a head of lettuce is insulting. However, if you have the money then spend it there. Upstairs is a great cafe/bar. Such a great spot. Have a great bloody Mary while snacking on THEE BEST crispy buffalo cauliflower bites. The absolute best. So delicious. I personally would add some chopped green onions for some bite, but so good. Also go on the weekend evenings. Matthew the bartender is cute and great. :) tell him Tom and Carrie say hi!

I would without a doubt recommend this place. Came for a quick coffee and ended up shopping as well. While the service was a bit slow, I enjoyed it. As they gave me time to decide, appreciate, and were very helpful and considerate.Superb random find.

Horrible service. Stood there waiting for 10 minutes not one knowledgement they saw us. Got seated, waited 15 minutes to order. We left. Will never return.

Amazing staff! Went in today for one item and ended up with arms full of stuff and no cart or basket. Your stocker Shahe seen me and stopped what he was doing to go grab me a cart, without me even having to ask. Excellent customer service!! I also had a great experience with a woman working behind your pre-made section. Very friendly!

The employees never hesitate to assist me. They are very knowledgeable of the inventory. The have a large selection in many different flavors and brands.

Where else in the greater Akron area but The Seed can one shop for food so nutritionally dense of such high quality and selection.

The selection and what they sell is good, but everytime I go in here they look at me and watch me like Im going to steal something. I got it at first because I had never been there, but man... Its getting really annoying. But at the same time, like... I guess everywhere thats kinda uppity looks at me like that.

Having been a loyal and regular patron of Mustard Seed since the 80s, Ive been very disappointed in the consistent and significant decline in the quality of customer service Ive been experiencing here, at the checkout, over the last year. The employees throughout the store, and the food selections, have all still remained delightful! This is why Ive continued shopping here. As with many of the clientele here, my two go-tos used to be Mustard Seed and West Point. With this consistent decline in the customer service on the front end here though, it just makes having only Mustard Seed now, much less enjoyable. I wonder if the Vernons might bei nterested in reopening? Wishful thinking, I guess. :)

Great real food option for grocery but we stopped to enjoy a travel through stop for lunch at the cafe. Great options for kids meals, gluten free or common allergen option outlined, even a salad bar & deli separate from cafe if you want to build your own by weight.

Good sales on supplements and health foods.

Although they have alot of nice goid tasting products that I like. Their prices have gone up significantly to where I cannot get the things that I need to be eating because I cannot afford them. They also discontinued making some of their products right now due to COVID.

These guys have health food brands I just can’t find anywhere else. Produce is good too. I’m glad Akron has a fine health food store!

The food in the cafe is delicious. Quality ingredients do make a difference. Nice atmosphere and the wait staff are sincere, professional, and attentive. I can go on, but in all a quality dining experience.

We just came home from picking up our curbside pickup order. My husband and I were very pleased with how well the shopper, Paul, completed our order. We were able to get all the items we wanted and that is saying much during this time. Our list included dairy, produce, bakery, meat and vitamins. I am home recovering from surgery, so having this option to shop is fantastic. I hope that this service continues for a long time.

What an amazing store! And considering its a natural/organic market, the prices are quite reasonable. Someone like me, on a very small, fixed income, wouldnt be able to shop there regularly, but I wouldnt be completely shut out, either - a monthly visit would probably be doable. Plus the stores laid out well, and clean (the seafood area didnt stink, which is a good thing), and the upstairs cafe is wonderful!

Got some wonderful organic produce for Thanksgiving. Most of it was on sale. Great selection if ALL kinds of healthful things. Great deli!!! Had excellent smoothies from the Cafe. Very good for vegans and vegetarians!

The groceries are a little pricey but you can find some unusual items and lots of organic choices. The staff are super helpful. Upstairs is a very nice bar/cafe. Get a healthy meal all day. See live performances by local bands Friday and Saturday evenings.

Definitely recommend going to their Sunday Brunch! They have a wide variety of food for both breakfast and lunch items. The food is of high quality and has an amazing flavor profile. I would have them cater for my wedding, its that good. Not only is the food great, they usually have a band playing as well, which makes for great atmosphere.

I love the cafe here! All of the food is super tasty. They have options for any dietary restrictions you may have. I dont eat meat, and I am allergic to sesame seeds, peanuts and tree nuts, every time I have gone they ave been able to make me food without a problem. They ave a lot of options on their menu and are very consistent. I look forward to going back soon!

I love shopping at the Mustard Seed. I live in Youngstown but often travel to Akron for work. I stop in to shop when I am in town. I wish we had a store like the Mustard Seed closer to us!

Went here for a baby shower. I looked around the store and found it kind of expensive. I probably wont shop here. The food that was catered from the Cafe was delicious 😋 and the iced teas were delicious. I wish they would have plastic straws though. It was a challenge drinking through a wet paper straw. My daughters straw completely disintegrated.

My girlfriend and I always love coming to this restaurant! As vegans its hard to find options, but MSC definitely exceeds! All their dishes are unique and so fresh, so much so that my non-vegan family members like the V+ meals. And, last but not least, the service and entertainment is always amazing!

While the food in the restaurant is good, the restaurant service is pretty bad. Grocery prices are also wildly overpriced. Good selection though.

The cafe for dinner here totally blew me away. If only all restaurants in ohio could serve this level of food and its upstairs in a grocery store. If you havent checked it out, you definitely should. Awesome to have some great options and they had a 4 piece band whilst we ate.

Absolutely love this store’s atmosphere. Every time I go into the market I see employees who are smiling and happy to be there. Chris, in the back with the meats and fish, was EXTREMELY helpful in helping me try new kinds of fish, explaining ways to cook them, and telling me where they are sourced from. I appreciate everyone’s kindness in such a neat store! FIVE STARS!

I went to a free class regarding nutrition and ADHD and autism. It was put on by two doctors one was an M.D. & one was an M.D. MBA. It was a phenomenal class. If they have it again I highly recommend it. Ive been going to this store for over 20 years. This Health food store was around before all the others.

Horrible service.Stood at the meat counter for at least 5-8 minutes waiting for help. When the young man came out he completely ignored us and grabbed a tray of meat directly in front of us and proceeded to walk away.So I asked for help from someone else and they pointed us in the direction of the young man at the meat counter who once again just ignored us. So I left. Unfortunately I will not be returning. The food quality is outstanding. But I will go to a competitor from now on.

Love eating upstairs at the cafe. We always great service by friendly staff. And the best place in Akron for vegetarian and vegan options. My husband isnt vegan, but will order vegan food here because its that good.

The lemon pistachio vegan chicken salad wrap in their deli area is the best!

We made reservations for Mothers Day breakfast, with no issue. We get there and realize the price per adult is $28.99. If the price was that high, I feel like someone should have said something when taking reservations. Additionally, the line was ridiculously long and they kept running out of items. I can truly say I will not be going back there and wouldnt recommend this place. We ended up walking out and going somewhere else.

The store itself is good with lots of niche items that can be a bit hard to find, however customer service can make or break a retail location and the recent batch of cashiers are definitely less than friendly.

They have a nice outdoor area where you can relax, sip coffee / drinks, eat food and chat with friends . They also have space I side if u dont want to be outside. Really enjoyed the fries and the coffee.

Ive gone here twice recently, and both times, the food was great! However, the service is a hit or miss. the first time, I took my little one to lunch and our waitress was great, service was quick. We went back to have dinner on a Friday night with a friend and her little one, and it was quite busy since there was live music. The food was still great, but they forgot to send a waiter over, so after 25 minutes of waiting, I had to go ask for a wait person because they had forgotten about us. Once he showed up and took our order, I asked him if he could bring my little ones drink and some crayons first, but another 25 minutes later I had to go up to the bar and ask for a kids apple juice and some crayons, because my son was playing with water drops on the table and asking for a drink repeatedly.I know waitstaff have off nights, were all human, but our waiter honestly looked like he was repulsed to be serving us, which is unusual because he never came to see how our dinner was, so we barely interacted with him. He brought out to-go boxes for us and that was that. My first experience was during lunch so it was not as busy, I understand, but our waitress packed up our food and was so accommodating. This night, we had two little ones, helping box our leftovers would have been helpful, as other wait staff was doing around us.

I came here with my family for the mothers day buffet a couple years back and it was so delicious! The buffet wrapped around the huge hall, there were so many options. Everything was delicious!! It was very expensive but its all healthy food, no added preservatives or weird chemicals, and you got so full you didnt even need to eat dinner so the price is definitely worth it. We will be coming back for another buffet!

Mustard Seed Montrose Cafe is so great for high maintenance people like us, vegan + gluten free + nut free, all delicious food selections and beautifully presented. Our normal family and friends can find excellent selections and enjoy the clean, classy atmosphere with us. Great service. A++

Ive been going to Mustard Seed for over a decade now! I went there with my parents and now I bring my wife and kids there to shop all the time! They always have everything we need and continue to keep their products very friendly to our diet requirements. Even their Cafe is the safest place to go if you have any kind of allergy to foods like our family does with having egg, soy, nut, dairy, and gluten allergies in our family.Thanks Mustard Seed!

What a wonderful store!! Coming in, all you smell are delightful seasonings and oils, fresh produce and No chemicals! Finally, a store that whatever I choose, I can eat it without being poisoned. ..Saturday morning seafood person was so helpful...she showed the inside of the trout, explained how to cook it and was very personable! I will be coming back soon!

We ordered an appetizer, two entrees, and dessert, and the service (not server) was TERRIBLE. While our appetizer came out in a timely manner, my salmon not only came out after nearly an hour of waiting, but also undercooked. Would have given this experience 5/5 stars if the service was better.

If there were ten stars Id give it!! These people are amazing. I trust them with my health! I go to the doctor for diagnosis and then I go to them for medicine! I hope they stay around for ever! The food is delicious as well!

Went for brunch with my friend. The food was excellent, but the pitiful service made the experience unenjoyable.With their prices, you would expect at least decent service, but from the time we were eventually seated (the hostess and supervisor, 2 feet away, ignored and didnt even make eye contact with us on arrival nor in the minute or so after) to the time when we finally received the checks (the waitress mixed ours up), I did not feel satisfied by the service once. I even had to point out to the waitress that my friend was shorted on her breakfast-- when you pay $4 for 3 slices of bacon, you would expect to get 3 slices of bacon without having to uncomfortably point out the menus item and ask for the third. We dont plan to revisit.

This is a phenomenal store, similar in many ways to a Whole Foods, but with its own unique flavor. It has a few items that I dont find at Whole Foods, like Butterbeer! I have always enjoyed the service as well, and that is so crucial when you are paying a bit more for what is still a grocery store. I know when I go here I will find healthy food that was chosen with the careful consumer in mind and then my shopping experience will be topped off with a courteous clerk.

My go-to for organic goods. Store is well stocked and organized, prices are fair and the employees friendly. I have yet to eat upstairs, but Ill try it someday. All-in-all, my favorite grocery store in the Akron area.

Used to go here every week to eat. They took the best things off of the menu but I decided to give it a try again. They served me a tofu wrap with MESH wrapped around the sprouts. I showed the waitress, she had them take it back. Brought out the same wrap after they picked out the mesh. I was given a fresh pickle and it came with a piece of lettuce underneath which contained BUGS. It was foul and I was no longer hungry. Terrible! Never again!

Mustard seed has a nice selection of fruits and vegetables and a nice bulk bin selection. The cafe tends to be expensive, and be sure to eat in vs carry out. MS tends to use a lot of packaging when you carry out your food, and you get less quantity of food as well.

When shopping at the Mustard Seed it has been enjoyable to sample different tastes of hummus on display by the deli counter where coffee samples were available as well..it promoted leisurely shopping and browsing; now it has been removed... disappointing..Also, on busy days there is ALWAYS a supply cart or two and a person stocking the produce which makes It impossible to get around to the items you need... of course the person would move if asked.. who wants to ask that when you are inspecting lettuce and the like?!!(Hire night stockers!Im on a roll here! ... Another situation that is frequent(I shop here 2 days a week) that the twisty ties for plastic bags are usually empty in half of the containers...finally, the cost of the Ezekiel Bread.. outrageous !!!! You can save. $2 a loaf at Costco!! Other than that, I love the place!PS.. you removed The ambiance from the restaurant upstairs when you made it look industrial... the colors ummmm.. not good.. too bright.. and... My husband and I arrived there at 6:00 pm on Sunday. It wasnt very crowded at all. The atmosphere is nice; tall ceilings, spacious, and plenty of room between the tables for a private conversation. The decor is also interesting, if you pay attention. The woman who took our order did not smile or seem to be enjoying her job at all and was obviously irritated by our presence. Then she forgot my ice tea. In addition, I found it offensive that the receipt had a place to add a tip, before the food was even cooked. I have always considered a tip to be a thank you for kind and courteous service as opposed to a prerequisite.Our server was just as unsmiling and unprofessional as the cashier. She seemed shocked that we didnt know we were supposed to get our drink from the cashier before we sat down. She was even more inconvenienced when my husband asked for water. She scoffed and pointed to the self service water bar. My husband, who was on crutches with a broken foot apologized for his ignorance and waited while his wife got his water. This was turning into a great night out. I love waiting on my kids and my husband so much that I just cant wait to wait on them at the restaurant, too!I ordered the avocado BLT with fries. The bacon was overcooked and the fries had that telltale taste that says it might be time to change the oil. It should be done every 3,000 miles, or so I hear. My husband got a plain old-fashioned burger, overcooked (burnt) as well. The cole slaw was just big slices of cabbage with a little dressing on it. Not necessarily a crime, just not to his liking.Overall, not great. We will not be back. Kudos to the busboy who served our food professionally and with genuine interest. While I am glad I did not leave a tip, if I had it would have been given to him. He gave us hope for all humankind.

Fantastic! I love the natural soaps, and hair products. Its a bit pricy, but there is just sooo many healthy, and natural options its worth it. They were super helpful when my item rang wrong. Didnt get a chance to eat at the cafe yet.

I telephoned the Montrose Mustard Seed Store 4 separate times in a 20 minute period to get some information on kombucha. All 4 times I was hung up on not receiving the information I was after I did however receive less than stellar customer service. Thank you for making the decision for me to not visit your establishment for what I was after or possibly anything else.

Shopping here for many years and everyone is great! Last few times a couple older ladies at service desk were more into their own conversation then helping customers(1 lady used to be much better, maybe a case of needing to cut back on hours and take partial retirement, not trying to be rdue just honest).But it is an exception to the 15 years plus I have been shopping there. Great place, great and egar to help younger employees, great food !Would love to see more fresh gf bakery products. But love them.

I ate here last month. I have celiac and always discuss this when I eat out. I was assured the GF items were really GF and there was no cross-contamination. Well, I didnt throw up but I had a stomach ache for 2 full days. Im assuming since it wasnt a full blown episode it was prob. something small from cross contamination. I am done eating out. I do everything except stand in the kitchen and watch them prepare the food and STILL I get sick. SO frustrating!!!!
