This BIG 5 is as old as i am.Cool stuff here. Check em out for good quality sporting gear, shoes, clothes, etc... This place is small so everything is easy to find and dont think because it is a small building that it doesnt have what you may want. Surprisingly lots of stuff here.

Called ahead and had an item placed on hold to go out of town and arrive to find the my item was not on hold and I made the drive for no reason. Thank you so much ALEX and his useless manager for wasting my time. Never spending another red cent at ANY Big 5 location ever again!

It was super hard to get assistance even though there were many staff members in view. Lucky a fabulous lady offered help just as I was about to give up and leave. The two stars are for the 5+ staff that were not helpful, not the beautiful lady that was helpful in the end.

They dont have alot, I wouldnt steal from here, theres no point in having a security guard.

I had to go there today to get some bicycle inner tubes and tires and a helmet for me. I like how its been consistent and added some new changes over the years I dont get a chance to go there much but when I do I know what I want and its surprises me with good quality stuff thanks Big 5

Found almost everything I needed although I wish they had swim caps for 3-year-olds.

Mostly mediocre unless you want baseball gear, fishing gear, or a fishing license. If one of those 3 though the place is great.

I like this big 5. It is just the right sized store. They carry the items i am looking for. I dont feel over whelmed like in those huge stores. I can easily find help when i need it.

As always, the store runs lean staff wise as possible. That being said, the crew at the southshore Big 5 were really nice! Helpful and knowledgeable about product and location in the store. Worth a visit

Hours on google and on their company website say they open at 930 on fridays. They have a piece of paper on their door that says they open at 10

The staff is always nice. They have a lot of products for a small store.

The manager and staff were both extremely helpful as well as knowledgeable about the products they had and what might be coming into stock. Although it was relatively busy, they handled multiple customers with behind the counter request, appropriately, and I believe that myself and multiple other customers left happy with our purchases.

Management needs to not be so quick to bark at employees when they are helping customers.She was helping me. Her helpfulness over the phone was why I came in to look at your selection of knives. I told her to help the other two customers while I browsed.Then you showed up and demanded she help me. When I tried to say I was fine, that...You interrupted me and started barking at her and demanded she help me too - NOW!She was helping me, you oaf.Shes why I came into your store.Youre why I left.I certainly hope she gets a better boss soon.

They had kettle bells but ran out of pullup bars. I also over heard they were out of other items. Best to call first if you are looking for something specific.

Listen everyone was friendly and things were easy enough to find but how can a sporting goods store not have a kids softball glove for a left handed thrower??? Maybe its common????

The store is open during this crazy pandemic, but rather than allowing a few customers to enter at a time, their process is to have customers stand at the door and ask for what they need. They don’t even know if they have the item in stock, even though the website says they have limited stock. The first response was they didn’t carry any of it at all. But I pressed on and told the staff I’ve seen it before and that is when he went to check and pulled a cap of a different style. The quality of items they sell here isn’t the best, it’s like a Walmart for sporting goods only, but this process without knowing their inventory is pretty silly. What a waste of time today.

Although OPEN for shopping inside with limited size crowds, wish they had curbside service. Last 3 visits to this store, minimum wait time to get inside to shop was 20mins.

Its a cute store and they have a decent selection. But dont expect any assistance, no matter how patient you are.

Jay is amazing! I was there today to exchange my smaller navy blue Columbia folding bicycle for a bigger mountain bicycle from Columbia that also folds. They both fold. Jay gave me THE BEST customer service Ive had anywhere in my life. Period.

I was there to buy work shoes which I found a good selection of them...My review goes towards customer service.As I was getting the shoes I needed another customer asked the employee witch running shoes he recommended... The employee did not make the effort to gather any information from the customer like are you running on the city or on dirt trail, ECTHe just told the customer this are the running shoes we have clearly the customer needed help picking the right ones but no effort was made to help him.At the register the girl did not check any of the 3 pairs of shoes I bought, not for the brand or the style or the size.Great selection... Bad service

I really like this Big 5! A staffer greeted me at the door and directed me to the camping gear aisle. Bingo! They had what I needed and it was on sale!

I love this place. They have alot of sports equipment here and the staff is pretty nice. I like to go in here to browse often. Check out the weightlifting equipment. Its a small store and its pretty cramped with gear. But Ive always found what I was looking for

Kinda feels like Big5 on a whole is on its way out what with the stores that carry better products. Friendlier staff and a selection. Guns are on their way out too, so there is just less and less reason to need to go to Big5.

So rude people working here they didnt help you with anything. Clerks talking nonstop with each other and didnt care if u needed help. Told manager they were just as bad. It is better to go give your money to another store

They have a small but solid selection of seasonal and year-round sports. You probably wont find anything special or selective here. The staff vary from day to day. Sometimes helpful and sometimes not. Plenty of parking in the plaza.

I gave the woman cashier a key I found outside the store. She offered to lock it in their safe, in case someone asks about it. She was concerned, as we would be if we lost a key. Kudos!

Okay kinda short on certain supplies wears always having not enough size for individuals waist, length but the floor staff and security where very helpful and had the beat greetings for all customers

I generally have a good experience shopping here for general camping and outdoor goods. They have decent sales on ammo, knives, sunglasses etc from time to time too. Sign up for the email notifications to save an extra few bucks.

You got it, check, in stock, check, well then what’s the problem, I can see if I was buying weapons BUT IM NOT!!! Background check on a $44 book bag please. People will literally walk away when it’s your turn to check out, its a trick TREAT YOU BAD SO YOU HAVE TO GO OFF BECAUSE IM NOT INVISIBLE —THAT WAY THEY CAN HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE. Last time I came here it was over a book, for real- a free one at that!!!!!! If management is not so great what do employees have to model themselves after??? Yikes!!!

I have been shopping at the Big 5 in Alameda for many years, because of their location. The problem I have in general and today in particular is customer service. I tried to get some help at the gun counter but making eye contact was not enough for the man behind the counter who was on a ladder, talking to the cashier, pretending to be stocking stuff on the shelves. He looked at me, then went back to talking. So, I said, can I get some help here? He came over and got out the guns I asked to see and as I looked at them, he just stared at me, just stared. I asked to see one in the case and he told me the ones I was looking at were much better, even though one was cheaper. But he was right, the one in the case was cheap plastic, and I agreed with him. But heres the lovely thing he said as he was putting it away, I TOLD YOU SOO. He said it very quietly in a sing-song voice, but I heard it perfectly and said, really? I told you so? I cant even see why its not as good for myself? Im supposed to just believe every snotty thing that comes out of your mouth? He started to apologize but I just left. That was rude and I dont want to reward that behavior so I wont shop there anymore. I hope you wont either, no one deserves to be treated like that.

Dreadful customer service. Actually so bad that you cant even call it customer service. Employees cannot be bothered to help with shoes, and will leave you waiting until you decide to leave in frustration. Spend your money somewhere else.

Alot of sports gear for any sport and shoes and clothes anything you want that is athletic. The cashier didnt give me my change back and I didnt notice that i had to get change back till I got home was a little disappointed but the service was ok.
