This is a fairly new winery with pretty descent wine that is tasty to the pallet. Not only is this a winery with its distinct selection of wines, it also grows and sells various types of pistachios as well. The visitor center provides examples of each with free wine tasting, 20% off after third bottle or 10% military discount. Amazing winery and pistachio store. Free wine tasting and pistachio tasting. Price of bottles of wine were very reasonable plus 20% discount if you purchase 3 or more bottles. Also 10% off for military discount if buying less than 3 bottles and are a veteran or active military. Very clean, friendly staff, amazing to see pistachio trees. This is a must if in the area.

We were Alamogordo and just happened by. What a wonderful surprise. It was early in the morning and they had just opened for the day. We tasted various flavors of pistachios and their wines, both were outstanding. There is a wonderful outdoor patio that is next to the pistachio grove. It would be a great place to spend an afternoon or evening. I didn’t take my camera thinking we were visiting a nut shop, it turned out to be much more. We will definitely make a point to stop again next time we are in the neighborhood.

Gorgeous patio, friendly people, delicious wine and pistachios. We spent a few hours at Heart of the Desert after doing White Sands at sunrise and Three Rivers Petroglyphs. The sun is intense and the winery is a perfect escape. It was a relaxing beautiful setting with great hospitality. The pistachio tour was very interesting and an easy walk, nothing strenuous. Definitely a highlight not to be missed in Alamogordo.

Great Pistachio farm and Vinyard with lots of wine tasteing options, flavored pistachios, chocolate, souvenirs and more. Great rest stop area with picnic tables and covered patio. Nice building with friendly staff and definitely worth the visit if you are traveling through or need a rest stop along your travels...

Very very cool wine patio. Shaded out of the sun (if you want to be) and can overlook the pistachio Grove.Wine is good, with a couple of their big reds being well done. Tasting staff was very friendly and helpful.

Very nice store and wine tasting. The back patio was amazing! We bought a bottle of wine and sat down on the comfy couches while our daughters checked out the pistachio trees. The ice cream was good, and the pistachios too. Much better than the place down the road which was too busy and crowded.

Very food pistachios and even better wine. Took home 12 bottles because the wine was so good. And the friendliest staff you will ever meet!

Pistachio orchard with a gift shop and wine tasting area. The gift shop has a nice variety but not over done.There are tables and restrooms inside. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

I love this establishment. I been going here when I moved out to Tucson in 2012.

I first visited when I was a teenager over 20 years ago and have always had fond memories, so I just went back with my husband and kids.We were immediately greeted by several friendly, kind, and helpful staff. We went on the free walking tour at 10:00am and Michaela was an excellent tour guide and answered all of our pistachio questions. We picked up plenty of pistachios, pistachio treats and ice cream from the gift shop.My whole family had a great experience! I would definitely recommend Heart of the Desert to anyone in the area!

We pulled off the highway on impulse and were pleasantly surprised to find a gourmet shop. The staff is so friendly and helpful, we sampled and bought some delicious pistachio brittle.

I have received gifts from Heart of the Desert many times and thoroughly enjoyed them so I thought I would send a little something special to my husband from them as well. I was INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED that not only did he never receive the gift but even after speaking with representatives 4 times, nothing has been resolved! I keep getting the runaround that they will look into it but nothing ever gets done. I placed the order on August 24, 2021 and still have no solution! BEYOND UPSET!!!

This place is great. It has a relaxing setting and good wine. Plus nuts, chocolates and other snacks if youre wanting to pair something with your wine!

Such a sweet and knowledgeable group of ladies working the gift shop, samples, wines, and farm tour! They do free farm tours twice a day - it is well worth the 45 minutes! Wines and Pistachios were excellent 👍❤️

Ordered the red chili pistachios in-shell, the green chili pistachios shelled, and the plain pistachios in-shell. All were super fresh and the red and green chili pistachios were delightfully spicy but not overly hot. Used to get all my pistachios from California but now I will be getting my pistachios from New Mexicos Heart of the Desert! Highly recommended.

One of our favorite places to visit in New Mexico. The staff is so friendly and their outdoor space is so peaceful and serene when its not being utilized for events (I havent personally been to an outdoor event here but Ive heard great things). The garlic green chile pistachios are a must try, they also offer free wine tasting!

We did not expect to run into a pistacho farm with a winery which made for a very enjoyable time. We got a chance to sample the wine and pistachios. Nice outdoor patio.

Had a boutique type feeling. Wine tasting in the store. Also had flavored oil and vinegar tasting in the store. Less crowded and friendlier, better customer service than down the road. Also had samples of their pistachios on sale. Tours are on hold but you can go look at the tree as long as you dont touch them. Highly recommend visiting this location.

Been enjoying their pistachios for decades. Nice friendly staff and clean store with lots of samples and lots of New Mexican gifts to choose from. My only reason for not giving five stars is that their prices have risen too fast and they dont really have a dog friendly area that is not in the hot direct sun for those folks traveling with dogs.

The gift shop/store had a large variety of items. Prices are a bit expensive but didnt mind. Staff greeted at door and explained where everything was. Ask questions if you dont know, I almost purchased wrong item and then almost missed something else. Its a bit better then the store with the big pistachio in front (the one had big red heart).

Very pleasant and helpful staff. The lady that assisted us with our shopping and tasting seemed a little flustered but she was still quite nice and served us well. The wine was really nice. They also have olive oils, pistachios, popcorns and other gifts. The patio out back is very pretty and sits on the edge of the pistachio grove. Worth the stop!

Excellent staff that were helpful. Even though full tours are not running until June 1st, staff provided a shirt video followed with a short tour - both which were informative, interesting and free. Garlic and onion flavored pistachio are excellent and samples were readily provided.

The perfect place to stop for some pistachio ice cream and wine tasting. My favorite is Malvasia Blanca is a sweet wine like the moscato of flowers and fruits. Dont forget to buy the different flavors of .pistachio

They have the BEST pistachio ice cream I’ve ever tried here! They also offer lots of pistachios with various seasonings-all are delicious! I appreciate that their entire business is authentic and not overdone.

If you are this far into the beautiful dessert, after visiting the White Sands national park, you should stop here. The patio is really nice. Buy some pistachio nuts after trying a few samples. The candy is quite good. There is a wine bar, but whether you like this wine depends greatly on how badly you want a glass of wine.

Friendly staff and great selection. Love their Viva La Roja wine. We visit every two years or so and always make a stop.

If you only have time to check out one Pistachio place it needs to be this one. Hands down friendliest staff around. Plus unlike other Pistachio places you can sample their products before making a selection. Beautiful grounds and outdoor seating area. What a great stop.

Stopped by for wine tasting and purchase their pistachios. They are always super friendly and have a great selection of wines. We purchased a bottle of wine to drink on the veranda. Very nice view; must purchase a snack to drink with wine. Part of Covid requirements. Walked out with case of wine and roasted/salted pistachios, my favorite.

Oops! Missed the mark. Was suppose to go to Pistachio Land and see the worlds largest Pistachio. Happy we missed the tourist trap and wandered into an establishment that had exactly what we were looking for and had what we didnt know we were looking for. The staff was very informative and gracious. From the moment we stepped through the door we felt welcomed and not rushed. Thank you for an enjoyable experience! We will be back! We did, however, see that large Pistachio on the way out of town and that was enough.

Fresh roasted salted green chile flavored pistachios... If you go down south in New Mexico this is a must stop at place... All kinds of different flavored pistachios and I think I saw some type of oil that was also flavored... Just ask for help with the oils...

I ordered one of the gift baskets from here. Ive never had anything delivered so fast. The basket is beautiful and the contents are just amazing. I try to stop by the store whenever I go down to Alamogordo. I had a huge craving for pistachios however so tried my hand at ordering them. Very good service. I highly recommend this place.

I went there after trying one of their wines at an event I attended. I have since become a member of their wine of the month club. All the staff are friendly, considerate and helpful. They let you sample items to ensure you will like them and all their products are top shelf. My favorite is the Pistachio Rose in wines and the pistachios were so good I cant pick just one as a favorite. If you are travelling on U.S. 54 make sure you stop in, you will enjoy it.

Love this place. Classy looking inside, taste test that is clean. & they give it to you, the can spell Chile correctly and gave amazing pistachios! Even got a pair of comfy pants while in the store! Well done. Plus friendly staff. Its a win win.

I loved it there. Spent more than I wanted but I couldnt help myself lol. I got things for a wedding, my kids and signed up for their wine club. I cant wait for that to get started. They have food their that you can get for someone that is diabetic and cant have sweets. They have wine tastings which I want to do with a friend at some point. I will definitely be back. The people are very friendly and helpful. They helped me when my hands were getting too full.

Nice souvenirs but at at high price!

Attended a wedding here. Beautiful patio configuration for a small wedding. Sound system and operation were so sub standard that it detracted from the day. System should be upgraded and staff trained in proper operation. If youre planning a wedding or event here, bring your own system and operator.

Definitely stop by and see what they have. Lots of gifts and a very nice wine tasting bar. And the pistachio ice cream was alone worth the stop!😃
