I would RUN away from this company. I gutted my kitchen at the end of February 2020, I didnt know materials were going to become an issue quickly. By April it was time for countertops... I have used other countertops installers in the past, but they were all following the CDC/state warnings and had temporarily closed. Kitchen Stone Design was still open and installing; that shouldve been the first red flag, but I needed countertops. The price seemed reasonable considering they were including a free sink and faucet. However, I soon discovered they had a $250 charge for templating, $250 for installation...I had $750 of add-on costs on my estimate. This had never been discussed verbally at that point, it was just slipped into the contract. I considered it a wash with the sink and faucet being included, so I proceeded. I needed countertops.Template day was a joke. This is the 6th time in my life that Ive hired someone to install countertops (different houses of course); they ALWAYS check the cabinets for level, then its the owners responsibility to get the cabinets within level if theyre off. I dont think this guy even owns a level, he didnt break it out for the template or the installation. I asked him directly if he had checked, he looked at the cabinets and said I think it looks OK. I mentioned this to Kathryn, she immediately emailed me the section of the contract that mentions it being the owners responsibility to level the cabinets. I informed her I understood that, but any craftsman worth anything is going to check for level. He knows the specifications he needs, I do not. Im also not ripping out cabinets for no reason. Also, if my 90 year old Grandmother hired you to install countertops, you guys arent at least going to check the level and tell her theres a problem??? I got nowhere...also consider, the template was now complete, so even if I walked away, they would keep $250. Have I mentioned I really needed countertops? I kept moving forward.Installation: I didnt immediately notice the gouge in the floor, and I definitely didnt immediately notice the huge gaps they left between the bottom of the stone and the top of the cabinets. Two feet of unsupported stone, and unsupported stone on other areas (pictures attached). I now understood why they didnt check for level, they genuinely dont care about the quality of work. They would come in and leave the countertop rocking like a seesaw, as long as the check clears. You can see in the pictures I caulked the gaps and tried to shim the gaps so the stone wouldnt just crack (knee issues right now, I couldnt get at it very well). The whole process was just bare minimum effort and no attention to detail. I always have undermount sinks installed with the countertops, they always use a hammock type support under the sink along with clamps and a sealer. These guys installed the sink with 4 small clamps (picture) and some caulk. The edges around appliances shouldve been flat and flush, they were too long and beveled. I even swapped out the free faucet after a week, I bought a nice Delta rather than the no-name garbage they gave me.Now that businesses are up and running again, there are so many better choices out there. Thankfully, Ive never encountered something like this, so I KNOW there are installers in the area that care about their work and wont make you feel like youre being scammed.

Called this company for a product they did not have but Kathryn helped me find other local businesses that might suit my needs. I will definitely call this company again when I have a need in this area. The customer service seems excellent.

We renovate homes for a living and are SO IMPRESSED with this company. Especially with Kathryn, who is communicative, knowledgeable, helpful, and absolutely as proactive as they come. They deliver what they promise, and are more schedule-conscious than even WE are! If youre looking for a soft, demur interaction and a warm fuzzy installer youd rather have dinner with than trust with your kitchen, this isnt the company for you. But if youd rather be told the truth, given all kinds of info. you didnt now you needed in a kind but straight-forward way, and get things done at the best price around and ON TIME, EVERY TIME...GO..NOWHERE ELSE!

Kathryn is great to work with. We appreciated her attention to detail, clear and prompt communication, control of the schedule and knowledge of the product. Weve done two kitchens with her and will work with her again. Prices may be the best in the capital district. Installation crew takes accurate measurements and reviews the layout to make sure were getting what we want. Working with Kitchen Stone design and Kathryn is a pleasure.

I went to both Lowes and Home Depot and realized I need someone who is dedicated to my project. Kathryn asked questions that helped us make the right decision for our material and color. I was able to email or call with questions and she responded right away. Our install was great. The whole experience was great! It was so great I sent my parent to see her.

I recently bought a house that definably needed some work on. I’ve heard from a few people that Kitchen Stone Design was a great company to work with. I first wondered through this website viewing some of their projects that they have already done. I was really impressed with a granite counter top and figured it would work perfect for my kitchen. I gave them a call for a quote on the granite kitchen top and was provided excellent information. I also gave a call to a few other places, but nobody else gave me a better deal than them. The guys did it quickly and were very professional! My kitchen is looking amazing now! Next project is the bathroom- I’ll definably be calling Kitchen Stone Design again.

Kathryn at Kitchen Stone Design is an absolute pleasure to work with. She is incredibly knowledgeable, patient and accommodating. I walked into the store almost an hour after theyd closed but Kathryn decided to jump right in and go over everything with me and then sent me out to the warehouse to look at slabs, and I am so glad she did. I am renovating my home myself, and have had a few hiccups in the timeline that Kathryn was more than willing to work with, as others have mentioned she was understanding of my waffling on options and her excitement was palpable when we made a final decision. Her installers are professional and quick and did beautiful work. 10 out of 10 would recommend!excuse the construction zone, will post more pictures when the room is done!

We started our search at KSD and after meeting Kathryn, we didnt bother to shop further. Kathryn educated us on various types of countertops, didnt try to push us towards the more expensive ones, and offered her opinion on things we were unsure of. Installation took place one week after templating. The installers were great...its a little harder dealing with an existing kitchen (as opposed to new construction), but they were terrific and handled any issues that popped up. We chose granite and we love it! This was a great process working with this company and Kathryn in particular.

Outstanding company to deal with. Very accommodating. We were searching for a company to deal with for new granite counter tops. Katherine runs the Albany store. Once we met her the deal was set! She assisted us in many ways including instillation at our home in Rural Delaware County. Forget the rest! Go here!

We chose Kitchen Stone Design (KSD) for the countertop installation in our new kitchen because they offered the best deal. We signed the contract and pre-paid KSD half of the estimated cost. In the middle of the project, it turned out that KSD manager Kathryn Heller made an arithmetic mistake while calculating square footage of the countertop area, and we were to pay additional $1,000 (or 20%) over the quoted cost. Instead of negotiating the ways to resolve the situation, Kathryn Heller informed us that KSD had unilaterally terminated the contract. They finally returned our deposit minus the template fee ($250). As a result of our “collaboration” with KSD, we lost the money and valuable time as the countertop installation was a part of a big multitasking kitchen renovation project. Conclusion: I would not recommend working with Kitchen Stone Design under any circumstances, as this business is not predictable and reliable, and Kathryn Heller is the worst manager I have ever met.

Very nice on the front end. The measurements and installation were not great. The fabricators had to cut the stone on site, very stressful. The sink they installed fell out while installing the plumbing. The gap between the stove and counteryop is 3/8 inches wide. Will not use them again.

Watch calculations if ordering countertops. The measurements they took and provided were accurate however their calculations ended up charging for a corner section of countertop twice. They completely took advantage of my parents and refuse to admit their mistake and refund them. Countertops look great however telling customers they got a deal when in fact they were overcharged about 5 sq ft @ $40/sq ft is not a deal at all.
