Im originally from central jersey. And visited family up here - must say the breakfast was excellent. A triple stack scrambled egg sandwich with sausage, bacon, tomato and lettuce. Can be shared with two people since I couldnt finish it and gave it to family. Our waitress was Irene she was so attentive and sweet which made the experience even better. This diner is definitely worth the trip if youre looking for a great meal
I had perfect over easy eggs with crispy corned beef hash and home fries for dinner 😊. Protein and potatoes for dinner, pairs well with the excellent, just like I made it myself, Tangueray martini... cold & clear with a wash of vermouth.😋 🍸Service was great. The hostess made me feel right at home and the waitress kept that feeling going, along with just the right amount of attention.Portions are generous.3 eggs, hash, potatoes and a top shelf martini for $23+tip.I went away happy.
Honestly THE BEST restaurant I have ever been to in my life. My boyfriend and I traveled from Buffalo to the Albany area for a weekend getaway and our hotel was close by. Honestly the staff is super friendly and very welcoming, the food was above par so delicious, everything was so clean and tables were social distant due to covid which is great. We had never been asked if we wanted our toast buttered and it was the first time ever we’ve been asked that. Everything was above and beyond we even came back the next morning for breakfast before heading home. I would definitely be coming back to Albany for this diner. Absolutely amazing!UPDATE: My husband and I went back for dinner service on Dec 1 and the food was amazing and Emily the waitress was so attentive and kind. Honestly love coming back to Albany just for this diner. I always have such a great experience here!
We call this place the shining diner. If youve never been youll know why when you pull up. Very good service excellent food always. Portions are the kind you got to take home half of to have for lunch tomorrow. Recommend!

Ive been to this diner for breakfast and for lunch on different days. The service is excellent. The food is delicious. I love their matzoh ball soup and their breakfasts are well prepared. The eggs were over easy and not underdone. I dont like the runny whites of underdone eggs and they were perfect. Highly recommend this diner to anyone looking for pleasant diner atmosphere and good food.
My daughter and I were on our way home from Maine to Pennsylvania, and we were transporting our 3 baby goats that we had just purchased and our 6 month old puppy. I told the hostess of our adventures and asked if we could be seated, so that we could see our vehicle. She placed us perfectly and was very compassionate. The waitress was just as pleasant and the food was good and filling. We will definitely stop again! Love the old diner atmosphere! ❤
Nice clean. Staffs are cool with welcoming behavior. Quick service don’t waist any time when someone traveling. Pastries are also delicious.

Yes there is a LOT of Diners out there... They all have similar menus to a degree BUT will the meals all taste the same? Ive been to MANY of Diners and when Im in the area of Capital City Diner I WILL ABSOLUTELY stop there. Great food, outstanding service, and the prices are very fair... So... Only one thing to do... Go experience Capital City Diner for yourself! You wont be disappointed!
Superb breakfast. Fat breakfast sausages and great coffee. For fellow travelers out there, they take cash or card. There is a lot of parking out back.

What a nice diner! The place has a classic vibe but with a softer ambiance. Its large and comfortable and the service was fast even while it was busy. Our waitress was friendly and the food was good. We were pleased that they were able to accommodate us with a party of 4 and 2 babies. The diners only downside, is that the parking is small. Busy hours will be a challenge for parking. We visited on a Saturday morning. We enjoyed our breakfast here and will be back.
Had lunch before doing my daughter off to campus. Yummy sandwiches with yummy fries. Will be back here next time I visit.

Service was good and my hubbys French dip was good but Id suggest staying away from the meatloaf. My first question is Wheres the beef? This had the consistency of stuffing and tasted like Thanksgiving. I could taste cinnamon too. Ill go back but never will I get meatloaf from there again!

Lauren was our waitress and she was very great to us. Great and welcoming staff, great atmosphere. This place is always busy and theres no surprise to it. The food is great, servers are on top of everything making sure your visit to their diner was satisfying. They take good caution due to COVID-19 and the busboy is always on top of the tables making sure theyre clean and making sure the restaurant is clean. Saki is also very welcoming (the owner) and is great with service. Busboy came to our table twice to make sure things were good when the waitress wasnt there! Overall outstanding experience. Will be back again.

Lauren L. Was our wait staff, great service, great food, good portions. We had the hot open faced sandwiches, turkey and roast beef. However, we were sitting eating out n the 2tops next to the counter seats and Heather the waitress was laughing and joking around with a customer, telling Trump jokes back n forth laughing about them to each other, definitely NOT appropriate for an employee to be doing while on the clock in front of the dining room. It really turned me off and I was going to say something but in stead of 5 stars I gave less. Get your certain employees trained as to whats appropriate and whats not.

We had a good meal that was very filling and tasty. The turkey dinner sandwich (get it made hot, otherwise its a cold sandwich) was made with nice thick slices of turkey, stuffing and cranberry. The Reuben has 1/8 in slices of real corned beef, not just deli meat like some diners. The philly cheese steak was similarly made with 1/8 in slices of real steak, not the steak-ums meat. And finally, the capital city omelette had fresh tomatoes and basil, along with cream cheese. Everything was good, served quicky, by an attentive waitress. Glad we went there today, well be back next time were in town.
Good food, one of the best meatloaf I ever had but the service was one of the worst. Super busy and packed place and service couldnt catch unfortunately the eggs smelled like cigarettes

We had a large table, 5 kids, 5 adults. We really only got appetizers to eat so Im not sure on how good the dinners are but the apps were good, waitress was great, service was great. And they made room for our party in no time with no warning.
Our server was fantastic and the food was excellent. Only minor complaint was that or burgers arrived well done when several of us ordered them medium or medium well. Wed return here in a heartbeat!

Alright food for alright prices. Its a classic American style diner that serves good food, my only complain is that when I placed an order for pickup they forgot parts of the order (such as my pancakes), but hopefully it was just a onetime thing and they continue to provide consistent good service and good food for its patrons.
First time here for me and the girlfriend. Older lady at the cashier very rude, waitress was friendly, did not bring out appetizers never received them, food was alright. Waited 15 mins for the check after asking for it. Probably wouldnt return kind of pricey for Dennys quality.

This is the absolute worst diner I’ve ever been to. They couldn’t make a plate of pasta because the “ sauté “ person wasn’t there anymore and it was only 5 o’clock. My burger was supposed to be well done and it was RAW. The prices are outrageous. The waiter was nice but very rushy & The drinks we ordered had stuff floating in them. 0/10 would not recommend. I’d give no stars if it was possible.

I like this diner. It was my first time here. Me (Walter Clark), and two of my friends (Amy and Nelson) went. I went there on a Saturday (July 17, 2021). They have good food here. The waitresses here are nice and friendly. Here is a copy of a menu from Capital City Diner. This diner is located on the corner of Western Avenue and Rapp Road in Albany (Westmere), NY, just one block away from Crossgates Mall. The outside of this diner has a similar design that dates from the 1940s or 1950s and its facade (exterior) has a chrome look to it, which is similar to what you see on cars.
The service and staff are awesome! The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend Capital City Diner. My family and I eat there atleast once a week!

My first time here. There was no wait time after 9am. We were a party of 5. Excellent service, great food. Ample amount of asking for refills. We didnt wait long for our orders. I tried the western omelet with cheese with a side of bacon. Omelet was really good, bacon on point. I also had a chocolate milk. Very good.

Our waitress was very attentive. However my Cobb Salad consisted of hard, yellow iceberg lettuce. There were very few pieces of other greens. I definitely would not recommend having a salad at this diner.
Food was fantastic and good value. Would have given 5 stars but their coleslaw is bland and watery. I know its a small thing but if you like coleslaw your understand. I do look forward to going there again.

Bathrooms were very clean. The people were efficient and friendly. The dinning room had normal amounts of food on the floor but was clean otherwise. The prices were also in line, over all a very nice experience.

Had coconut shrimp, wings, smokehouse burger and banana pie. Wings were average at best, shrimp was pretty good. Burger was good and pie was really good.
Great service and food always to be expected from this diner. The wait staff are always super nice and friendly and the dessert display case is always eye catching. Everything is always very clean and you can tell it is important to them to keep everyone safe and healthy.
