The facility is very clean and people are very nice. I taken my steer there a month back. I have asked it to be aged properly, so that the meat taste good. The cuts such as T-Bone, Rib-Eye steaks were done perfectly. The ground beef was amazing. The packing was good and they have done an amazing job with labeling as well. We are enjoying the meat every time, the meat just taste better. Amazing service and very reasonable price. They have kept my meat a little longer in the freezer as I was struggling to get a new freezer at home. Great service!

Previously I have only bought sides and quarters-- never a full cow and never from the farmer who delivered it to the butcher for me. I just picked up my meat yesterday. So I am not sure to rate them yet.The cow was 1200 pounds live weight 655 hanging weight and it filled our freezer and then some. So far we have eaten two rib eyes and a sirloin. The steaks were tender, and tasted fantastic. Though the sirloin had a huge bone in the middle of it. like 1/2 of the steak. So I am not sure if this is an anomaly or if the steaks will all be cut with these large bones in them. That was a bit disappointing. I have two T-bones thawing now and will see how the rest of the meat is over the next several months.Overall Muhammed was good to work with and his staff were professional.Edited to add: I have no idea if this is typical of a full cow. But here is the inventory of what we received Hamburger should be in 1 pound packages, steaks should have 2 per package, but obviously I havent checked them yet.We received:73 packages of ground beef (1 pound packages)Liver, kidneys, and tailSirloin steak 13 (steaks should have 2 steaks per package)round steak (large) 12t-bone steak 10Ribs 27club steak 5Beef roast 18rib eye steaks 11stew meat 8beef brisket 4soup bones 19

We usually use a place closer to our home ( we live 1 hour and 45munintes from Albemarle) but they were booked out until January. This place was great about taking our bull and working with us on a drop off time kind of last minute and we were very appreciative. We always put the cow up in a stall for 3 to 4 weeks before we take them to slaughter because the meat just tastes better than coming straight off the pasture. There’s a huge and Noticeably different taste! Well so here’s where things go not so great. I really don’t think we got our cow back.... The hamburger has a grass fed taste and it’s nasty. The packaging is crazy compared to our normal place but that’s not a huge problem. I’m just not happy with the thought of not having the meat from the bull we brought. It shouldn’t taste like this at all.

Excellent experience, professional staff that kept me informed throughout the process with very reasonable pricing. Dropped a live steer off and 2 weeks later, I have a freezer full of meat. They packaged each steak separately and cut to my specifications! Thanks again so much, worth the 1.5hr drive!

Worst processor I’ve ever dealt with. I asked for everything to be vacuum sealed and it wasn’t. Everything was starting to get freezer burn within a couple weeks so I had to repackage everything. Asked for as little ground beef as possible, received about 150lbs of it. Very few steaks, no briskets which was requested. We have eaten around 30 packs of ground beef so far and every pack has had multiple pieces of bones in it. Some small but most the size of a pellet. I don’t recommend using them and I won’t be back again. I’ll just wait next time. Beware of this place.

The people were very nice, but I was very frustrated by the time I finally got all my meat. It only took 3 trips and I live 30 minutes away. And they package ‘their’ way which I don’t understand. The last part was frozen in plastic bags and doesn’t even look like it’s cut up and packaged correctly. They are nothing like Thompson’s, and that is where we always took our meat for processing. Truly disappointing. Maybe others have a better experience, but mine was not.

I took a 1300 lb steer on July 21 and was told it would take 14 days. On Aug 17 they finally told me my meat was ready. I went and picked it up only to discover I only got 20 rib eye steaks and 12 t bones. Today I thawed 2 steaks a put on the grill. They are un edible. The meat is awful. Rotten tasting. I am seeking a lawyer now to get my money back. I have 1641 invested in something we cant eat. So disappointed. Now it is September 26 and I thawed 2 more ribeyes. Same disgusting smell.

Thompson and sons meat packing is not the closest to my farm by a long shot. It is however, one of the best in NC. Excellent customer service, very good pricing, and most importantly, I know I am getting my cow back, in the cuts I want. Last year I took a steer somewhere else, and instead of the 93% ground beef I wanted, I got closer to 75% beef.... Never again, if Thompson and son doesnt have an appointment when I want to take a cow in, I will just wait.

We came for Eid goat sacrifice and waited for about 10 hours to get things done. No proper planning to manage the crowd. Technology is changing everyday and everything is scheduled based on appointment in USA. Allocate a time slot for people or let them choose the available time slot to manage the crowd sensibily.
