Ive bought 2 guitars here in the last year. I love that they let everyone try out the instruments without pressure or judgements. Always friendly.
These folks are just AWESOME. The young lady (the only young lady- pardon me for being absent minded) educated me on my desired purchase and went above and beyond to select the very best electric drum set available. She helped me prank surprise my husband with the drum set for his bday. She purchased balloons for him at zero cost to me.I can’t say enough. Extremely satisfied with the value AND service.
Great location close to a lot of attractions and other shopping areas. They have a wonderful selection of music equipment bass, electric, and acoustic guitars. I think what a lot of people don’t know is Guitar Center also has a great selections of equipment keyboards, sound, lighting and turntable equipment. The staff here is superb, helpful and provided a lot of great recommendations I didn’t initially considered. I highly recommend this location to anyone passing through this area or are visiting.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, and all the stuff I got was reasonably priced.
So I gave it 4 stars only for an experience about a year ago when when I was looking and it was Covid’s prime and they could have 10 people at a time so I understood the reason to it, but I was looking for not even 10 minutes and this guy didn’t even ask did I need help, he wanted to know if I was going to buy anything. I told him I was just kind of looking for now and he said very rudely that if I’m not going to by anything to get out so they can let someone in. If he was a little more friendlier about it, he could of probably made a sell but the tone through me off, I got a guitar ordered to pick up today, and everyone in the store was very cool, I was looking at first, let me play a couple guitars and I ended up changing my mind and wanting to trade guitars, even though mine didn’t arrive yet, he asked his manager and everything was fine while waiting while my guy rang someone up real quick or got me a bag for my guitar, two other employees asked if I needed help and where really cool, despite my complicated last minute situation
They have stuff in their show room they will recommend and let you waste time looking at, then at the register inform you they cant legally sell it yet. Then they will put it right back on their wall without marking it so others dont waste their time. Great place to waste time.
Employees in this store are great. Very helpful and always in good mood. And the store’s layout is excellent! The inventory is good. What else can you ask for? I love the place
Cool people and cool stuff.
Greatest place ever!!! I really enjoyed this place. So many instruments to try out and enjoy!!!
I personally didnt buy anything, but it was a big store with a wide selection of guitars, basses, drums, pianos, and microphones. If you cant find what youre looking for the staff in the store will help you out as much as possible to get something you like. Be warned most of the instruments in the store are definitely not the cheapest around.
Ben was very helpful my wife and I are really satisfied with how he handled our guitar being on back order. He was pretty much the only one in the store willing to go the extra mile. Thanks Ben!
I felt welcome with the store employee help me through my process. Answer any questions i ask him. Amazing customer service. Even gave me some ideas of his point of view on equipment to use.
(Great service) Shoutout to the employee helping us finding a good wireless microphone would recommend to go there if you want to buy a PA systems, mixers, wireless and wired microphones, and other instruments
Bought a great Taylor guitar here. They have a sound room where you can play and test different guitars. People actually sit in there and just jam! The salespeople were super helpful and friendly. Theres also every guitar accessory you can think of.
Is a great place to visit get all types of equipment electronics and your guitars is very clean theyre very helpful stress when youre looking for a instrument
This guitar center has great staff but Max is an outstanding worker. He has helped me in all my shopping. Very good place to shop. Totally recommend.
Biggest guitar center in the area
The tall light skin associate with glasses was so nice. He helped us with no issues.
I brought my martin custom X guitar here to have the bridge re glued down, and have a neck adjustment. My first issue was that i was told the total cost was going to be 150$ which included putting elixer strings back on. When i went to pick up the guitar I was charged extra for strings and they didnt put elixers back on. Not too big of a deal to me. When I got home and proceeded to inspect the repair I was immediately shocked by the lack of attention to detail, the bridge was crooked and not flush against the body. I returned the guitar to have this corrected, when I went to pick it up, I inspected it in the store, there was glue all around the bridge and looked even worse than the first time! I spoke with Steven H. Who conducted the repair and he said he would address the issue. Im thinking third time is a charm, wrong! I picked it up 20 minutes ago and it still looks like garbage. At this point my guitar has spent almost 3 weeks at guitar center and I have lost all patience so I brought the guitar home.
Wow! I think I just had the best experience ever at a Guitar Center, or with any retailer for that matter and it’s all Thanks to Ben Donnelly! Long store short, I purchased a used guitar that was missing a few items that it was originally sold to GC with. Unfortunately the items could not longer be located however Ben went above and beyond to search for the items. After he was unable to locate the items he took it upon himself to find the replacement parts online, sent me the link, and refunded me the cost, plus shipping for me to be able to order the parts. Seriously, thanks again for all your help Ben!
This place has seen better days since covid hit. Really sad to see all the demo stations tucked away. The staff was extremely helpful. If you plan on going please be respectful to them. I watched the same employee get yelled at twice by customers for enforcing store safety policies and not accepting a partial return. Allow me to congratulate those who yelled for reaching a new low over the weekend 👏. Despite all this I got exactly what I was looking for and would like to extend my gratefulness 🙏 to the team for keeping this place open during a pandemic. You guys rock (no pun intended).
I tried this location hoping to fare better and did not. I ordered two high end guitars and both arrived damaged. The tuning key was completely broken off one. The sales man tried to give me a discount and then tried to sell me a completely different guitar I didnt want. He also tried to blame it on the manufacturer. I have had consistently bad experiences at both of the Guitar Centers in the NOVA area. Go there to try, dont buy.Update:. They subsequently reached out after this review and apologized. They were able to find a new guitar. It was in great condition and Ive enjoyed it a lot. I appreciate their effort to assist and get what I needed.
The service here is nice 👌
Ben did a great job with my order Thank you.
Good reception, professional & very supportive staffs. Store is very clean and organized.
Sam is the best! She does awesome guitar work! This location has the best stock too!
Ive been to a lot of these stores, but this was a great experience. I just needed a few things for my new Acoustic, but Customer Service was ON it. Not only did they direct me to suggested brands, they retrieved them for me; I barely needed to move a square inch. I even got a Military Discount! Love going into Guitar Centers in general, but Alexandria store was Above & Beyond.
What I appreciate about Guitar Center is that the return policy is pretty good. I’m pretty sure there’s some kind of limitation to it and if you abuse it then you can get banned. That being said I definitely tried a good deal of stuff out and returned it successfully. In this world of online digital this and that, I’d say the return policy is very important.
I am in love with guitar center! The help I received was supernova. The gentleman who assisted me name was Steven and he was able to handle my questions and needs. I recommend anyone who is in our business to go to guitar center....Falls Church that is. Thank you.
Ive been taking vocal lessons from Herbie for a year. He is a very knowledgable, patient, and encouraging teacher, Im so happy i found him. The lessons manager has been very accomodating with any schedule changes I need. The staff working around the store are always super helpful and knowledgable, and they have helped me pick out equipment more than once. I really appreciate this store
(9/22/2020) Update:The store manager reached out to me to make things right after seeing this review.(9/19/2020) Original Review:My pickup was in stock and I brought it home to find a broken tuning knob a deep scuff and scratch on a supposed new in box item. The broken knob had been put in a baggy indicating it was noticed by someone in the supply chain and left at that.I had to go back and return it and while Collin was helpful and nice, they did nothing extra for me despite the inconvenience of multiple trips during a pandemic.
I visited this GC on the first day of 2021 for the first time and There were more equipment and merchandise than in any other GC around the DMV. The personnel were also helpful.
I really like to get music supplies from local businesses, but since Guitar Center put most of the mom and pop places out of business I try to use them since they are at least employing local musicians. After my poor experience today Im just going to order all my gear from American Musical.
I wanted to give a special thank you to Justin for helping me out. I walked into the store looking for an amp, and Justin gave me good advice and helped me pick out an amp which I love. On top of that, he helped me check to see that the amp would fit in the car before I bought it, and he helped load everything. A+ customer service, and I am very happy with my purchase.
Helpful staff and good selection despite Covid issues.
Went to drop off a guitar for repair, already knowing what’s wrong. I need the pickups replaced or fixed, close to a week and a half ago. Gave them 2 possible phone numbers where I could be reached in case one DIDNT work. Called up to 4 or 5 times to ask the progress of the repair, no one had looked at it. And everyone who answered insisted that the would look after we get off the phone. No one calls. I then call again and spoke to the lady Sam, whom I met for the first time when I dropped the guitar in the first place. She said she hadn’t looked at the guitar since I dropped it off and began to laugh. Seriously?!? I’m tryin to post music and record and I haven’t gotten a WORD back from everyone. Don’t come here. No one knows anything and are slow as hell!!!
Lots of cool instruments last time I went. I got my Yamaha and Korg synth from here a while ago. The staff are always very helpful and people who were there were pretty cool!
They are the way nicer than the crew at the Fairfax store. Took my 10 year old to get him an electric guitar because acoustic is harder to pay. Kevin, a teacher saw my kid holding a used Les Paul and was too cool with him. He hooked us up with Justin who was just as cool to him and set him up with a sweet guitar, amp, strap and hard case for less than $450! Justin also made sure the guitar was checked out and then polished it. Outstanding!
We found what we were looking for and the customer service was great.
Very nice folks
Always has the best collection of musical instruments and gear, with a super helpful staff.
Ordered a simple guitar strap as a gift about a month ago. It never got here. Called multiple times and asked if there was any problem with the order they said no it would be there shortly. Waited another 2 weeks for my order and it never arrived. I then check my email status and see that the order was canceled days ago and that same product is now $40, when I paid 25 for it. I then call back and after 40 minutes of being on hold I finally get to ask if anything can be done about my order that I waited a month for, they proceeded to tell me that nothing can be done and if I want to buy that strap I would have to pay 20 dollars more. Beautiful costumers service.....
The reps are always helpful and show you good deals vs the expensive products.
Everybody was super nice & helpful, had a great experience
Really great staff and amazing selection!
Nice selection of instruments. Staff is very knowledgeable and listen to your questions to give you the best service. There is usually a wait to get checked out so you cant get in and out quickly. Would have given 5 Stars if not for the check out wait.
Kid who helped me was great - professional, courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. Got exactly what I needed and had a pleasant time
Great service from guitar manager Max.
Good store - bad staff. Called them today and asked if they have a certain guitar model. Yes, we do, man, yes, we definitely can hold it for you for 2 hours, see you, you are welcome - cheerfully responded some male voice. Not only they knew nothing about whether they have this guitar or not (and I spent about an hour traveling to the store by public transport), they didnt even know who spoke with me, responding like Im just a middleman, sir, I understand your frustration. And for another hour they were trying to locate this Yamaha FG830 in their own store - but no luck. After all, one of these guys came up with idea - Im paying now, and they send me this guitar as soon as they have it - neglecting the whole concept of choosing an instrument by its sound and rejecting this brilliant idea of Guitar Center founding fathers to have a well made wooden room for acoustic guitars in every store, where you can play an instrument to choose one. Lost 3 hours altogether without result. How can we help you? - do your job, guys, just do your job.
I know nothing of guitars except that my son loves playing them. I picked out several items to go with his gift card and went to check out. The cashier was so friendly and informative. Noticed my items may not be of help to my so s guitar and led me to the correct products. Thank you for being helpful and kind!
The tech person there was not helpful at all, I had bought a used Stratocaster there a while back and noticed it had some fret buzz on the higher frets, I came back maybe 3 Weeks later and asked them to fix it. I still had the warranty and They had told me that if the price was under 300 dollars they cannot fix it and gave me a couple hundred bucks back, but on the other hand when I went to the Fairfax guitar center, the technician there fixed it in 7 minutes. Besides that the staff are nice and an ok selection of guitars
Our 5 year old too a free drum lesson and loved it! The teacher was very enthusiastic. We would definitely sign up for lessons if we werent moving soon.
I came in a few days ago looking to purchase a specific pair of sticks to which I could not find them anywhere in the store. When I went to the front desk I was given prompt service, and a helpful hand the sales representative literally looked through every batch of sticks in the store until he found what I need. He was even able to help me apply a coupon code for the product I was purchasing. All in all; I had a great experience and would highly recommend this location. Im not sure of the guys name but he was very tall, cool white guy. Thanks GC for the help I will definitely be shopping here again!
Went there today to trade in some used gear. Staff was friendly and i got a good deal on my trade.
Awesome customer service
The guys were very knowledgeable, they got what I wanted in less than 5 minutes, they were super nice. I highly recommend this particular location, theyre great!!
Knowledgeable staff real helpful!!
Guitar Centers seem to be going downhill. The products are strewn all over and are often mislabeled and over priced. Seldom is anything popular in stock and when asked, the quick response is, we can order it for you, but anyone with a computer can order the product from Musicians Friend or Sweetwater. However, there is a nice selection of guitars, which is why I give two stars.
Walked right up to the guy at the counter, Derek, told him I don’t know the first thing about Guitars but I want to leaner and asked his advise. He was extremely helpful and spent all the time with me I need to make a choice on a guitar to start with. Couldn’t be happier. If any management from this store is reading this l, you need to give Derek a raise!!!
Great place to pick up and try out a wide selection of instruments. Staff is attentive but not too much. Loved the acoustic room; couldve stayed all day.
Really friendly crew. I agree much nicer than the fairfax version. I needed a mid grade electric and the staff was super helpful. Very Happy with my new purchase but really just to deal with friendly staff makes the experience night and day different. thanks !
Colin was incredibly friendly, helpful and insightful. Colin rocks! Ultra patient and super nice.
My local Guitar Center in Alexandria is a great resource for people who play a range of musical instruments, regardless of skill level or genre, and the same can be said of staff who answer the national telephone numbers from the website. Great staff, great products, and competitive prices. I highly recommend them.
J.C. is the store manager at the Guitar Center in Alexandria on Duke St. He was completely clueless about the content on the store website. Upon inquiring about the sale on electric Les Paul guitars, instead of checking on the inventory which was my question, he ridiculed me for even asking me. Condescendingly lecturing me on the high prices and how he has a tattoo of Gibson.I asked him to check his sales floor then he continued lecturing me and refused to check. Great job losing a sale and a previously regular customer. Ive spent hundreds and was ready to spend more. Now, thanks to J.C., I will never go back. More rude condescending from Guitar Center staff to customers.
Evan was so great to work with when I was setting up my lessons. Steve was so incredibly nice and detailed when explaining what he was going to do with my guitar. Great group of people.....looking forward to my lessons.
Steve (repair guy), Milad, and Derek are awesome. They took great care of me. You can get a guitar or other instrument at many places, but the customer service here is why I come here and will be back!
Gave this store this review because of the suboptimal customer service. First off, their website claimed they had an item in stock, but as I go in and ask for it, they said they would look in the back. However, this is just the first layer of the cake. I had to wait 20 minutes for a guy to come back and tell me Sorry, we dont have those in stock. Oh well, I appreciated the effort. This wasnt as bad as the following day though. I go in and try to get help from an employee. I said hello and he looked down at his phone continuously putting up in his ear and back to its place. He seemed very frantic. I stood there for 5 minutes not knowing what to do. Overall, I think the manager himself is the only competent employee. Great store, poor customer service.
Great service
Great items. No customer service at all! Noone even acknowledged our presence so that we could ask about items that we desired to purchase. Kind of disappointing, especially as a person who has given Guitar Center thousands of dollars of business over time. Will try another location next time.
Two thumbs up! Always great no matter where you go in any state! Thanks to all your staff! Rock On!My son loves to come jam in different stores!Always great people!
Great shop, great customer service
Great knowledgeable staff. They helped get me in and out in no time at all.
Staff was informative and helpful in my purchase a bluetooth speaker package. I was given feedback and recommendations on the quality of the product. Staff inquired for what the equipment would be used and gave helpful tips about the quality and longevity of the product to manage performance expectations.
As a guitar player, when I go into a music store I like to try out some better guitars and maybe some foot-pedals. At this Duke St store the better axes are mounted at 10 or higher so I cant get to them without asking a clerk - which I dont like to do - because then some kid the age of my son asks me what Im looking for - and how much I plan to spend. Im not sure what Im looking for - but have spent at least $15K at GC in past 10 years anyway. Foot-pedals are behind glass - not rigged up on floor for me to try out. Stayed 20 min at Duke then walked without buying.
JC and his crew are super awesome they always know how to help and are more than polite! They are very personal and approachable! My husband and I come in here all the time and prefer this one over Fairfax Guitar Center, the staff is so much better here. Keep on being awesome guys🖤
I first called before going and the associate Brian was very friendly and helpful. When I got to the store, Brian helped me again. Afterwards, I walked around the store and it was very clean, organized and well stocked. I then talked to another associate about some basic questions about guitar strings, and he was very helpful, patient and knowledgeable. Overall, Im very impressed with the store and staff!
This is one of my least favorite guitar centers. The store is horribly organized making it hard to find anything or browse. The store looks like a mess regardless of how clean it actually is.The way they lay out amps makes it impossible to test anything because you quickly run into folks turning up theirs to hear what they are playing. The amp shelves in other stores don’t completely fix the issue, but it helps A LOT.The three or so times I’ve visited this place, I find it difficult to even find an employee to get help. When I did find one, they reeked of weed (I don’t care that you smoke, just do it when you get home, not when folks come in to drop a grand on an amp).
I have lessons here but ever since covid came I kept on asking how to continue my lessons but they never came back to me and I think they keep charging for lessons though I am getting no feed back to actually start lessons
The staff here are SO friendly and really helpful. The store is really tidy and kept up well, with a great selection. This is definitely the best GC location in the area!
Went in Saturday evening to figure out what batteries I needed for my wireless mics, I also need a mic clamp. Luis was super helpful and courteous! I found everything I needed. Ill be back! Thanks.
Great Music Spot! They offer classes of all kinds!
Pretty good for a guitar center. The manager and the staff are all great
Great place for the musician, producer, and DJ. Though this location is smaller than Fairfax it still has the same energetic vibes...Wish they had a better cymbal selection
These guys are awesome, I have been there numerous times in the past three months. I am a beginner and they have been very patient with me. They answer all of my questions and help me make selections when needed. They are A-1 in my book!
Terrible customer service. Went to buy 1 item... found the item after repeatedly being ignored and had to request assistance.. found the item. Walked to the register..waited for 16 minutes and 45 seconds..for someone to check me out. Continued to be ignored the entire time until I demanded some assistance. Will not be going back..even for a small item.
Very knowledgeable staff
They were very helpful, and take proper procedures for the pandemic. They had what I needed, and helped me find it all too.
The friendly staff are always willing to assist and answer your questions.
Incredible Service, associates were knowledgeable and always happy to help.
I take mandolin lessons from Kevin here and hes awesome! Highly recommended!
Staffs were friendly, and tried to follow the sanitizing steps.
Great store. I went in looking for two specific items that showed in stock in this stores website, but no big deal. I found alternatives to what I was looking for. The employees are great.
Love my music lessons with Kevin B. Excellent teacher for mountain dulcimer.
I have made two visits to this location and they are the worst experiences Ive EVER had in visiting music store in 50 years.Do no go to this location, use the Falls Church store or the other store that is west of this Duke street location.2 Horrible experiences.
Customer service is exceptional. Absolutely love this store! Makes you want to play an instrument. Music lovers dream!
The worker was sooo nice we find what we were looking for
Max and RJ from Guitar Center in Alexandria, VA are literally amazing at what they do! They took me under their wing and guided me to the purchase to the perfect guitar (2019 Gibson Les Paul), amp (Fender Reissue), and peddles! Max and RJ took the time to answer every question I had, display their rad guitar skills, while also providing me with some OUTSTANDING customer service! There’s no doubt that these two guys are the best at what they do and I’m extremely grateful for their guidance throughout my journey of purchasing my perfect guitar. I will definitely be signing up for guitar lessons from these two! I highly encourage anyone interested in learning and/or expanding on their musical talents to pay Max and RJ a visit at Guitar Center in Alexandria, VA! They will definitely take care of you! And thank you two for the respect and support you gave me as a USMC veteran! You guys rock! 🇺🇸
All of the employees know about pretty much everything they sale at the store. In case they dont, they are always respectful and look for any way to help you.In case you are just looking around like many of us musicians do they make you feel welcome and sometimes engage in a brief conversation with anything music related. For me is always nice to visit the store.
