I’m in California and had a unique request for my stuff to be moved from a storage facility down the street that was charging waaay too much and move it to Extra Space . Mae, the manager was so helpful, knowledgeable, and also provided me with a fantastic contact named John, who could help move our items.From start to finish, by FAR the BEST experience I’ve ever had with a storage facility! My brother rented a unit at this location and he interacted with Ken at the location and his professionalism was excellent!! He explained price, access and answered all our questions regarding our needs. At the time of sign up it was simple quick and easy, Mae assisted with the move in process, we were able to complete the lease on our cell phone and it was quick and easy. I have not used storage units before so I was a bit nervous about securing my stuff. But after seeing the unit, meeting the staff, and being walked through the process I feel very relieved in putting my stuff there. Mae was very nice and I got along great with her. 100% great customer service. Insurance was also very reasonable. I would highly recommend this location.

We very much appreciate Ken and Mae. They are always professional, courteous and do their best to answer our questions. We needed to use a storage unit temporarily during a frustrating move. Both of them were patient as we figured out the best approach to a big yet short term problem. They keep the facility clean, while simultaneously handling a lot of customers with different concerns, needs, and personalities. Thats a lot and they make it look easy (but I know its not!).

Good service, good access to information, easy to sign up, multiple locations, a little pricey

Price gouging - Month to Month bait and switchMy husband rented a 5x10 unit for $85 a month less than a year ago. The price increased every few months about $20-30 based on what they claimed were market conditions at the time. Additionally, they provided only about 2-3 weeks notice before each increase, making it dificult to coordinate removal of our storage items given the ongoing pandemic.2 weeks ago we recieved a notice the new rate effective 9/30 would be $174 a month. A $60 increase this time. More than 100% increase in less than a year! To add insult to injury, this same location is currently renting the same size spaces for $85 per month.Even worse, we were charged the new rate on 9/1, not 9/30. We immediately got everything out and demanded a refund, which they granted. The only positive thing I have to say about this company.Google the class action suits against them due to others with similar stories.

I went to see Extra Space in their Dove St location in Alexandria, VA. The service and attention I received was exemplary. I absolutely cannot praise both Mae Sagun (the Manager who showed us around) and Selam (who helped complete the paperwork). Both were super nice, friendly, attentive, and helpful. There was no hard selling ( which I hate) -only providing us assistance to decide on the choices that were available. Mae took her time and showed us a number of different storage sizes on various floors. She was very knowledgeable and was helpful in giving us ideas on how to place things.I didn’t walk in with the idea to rent that day but I couldn’t leave without doing so as no new place could do any better.Thank you so much Mae and Selam!!!!!

Short term storage rental. The staff at the Alexandria Dove St. location were helpful and knowledgeable. I was able to take care of everything by phone and email to rent the unit. The facility is VERY clean and COVID-safe.There were flatbeds ready to use and our movers really liked that. Made the move fast and easy, which saved us money. I highly recommend Extra Space Storage and would rent again.

Ive been using this place for 3 1/2 years and theyve always been super kind and helpful. Its not too overpriced and easy to get into. Its relatively quiet when I go in so theres not waiting times on the elevators. Its really safe and secure because they make sure that everyone comes in with a key code. We dont need them anymore because we have a bigger apartment but if we ever need a place to store stuff again were going to come here.

Very flexible, very helpful. I had to move everything in on sunday, while they were closed and they were able to set it up so I could increase my unit size by myself. They even added a lock in case i needed it. Better than 5 stars honestly. Additionally, the rooms have pretty good height to them and the elevator is pretty big.

A buddy of mine rented a space on line a few days ago, but could;t complete it, he went to the store and Ken was able to complete the smooth process for him and got him moved in same day. Sign up was easy, and its a nice clean facility.

Upon moving into this facility, several months ago, I had given it a high rating. To be clear the storage unit itself was fine. Pricing is great compared to other nearby facilities. This review has more to do with customer service, or in this case the lack thereof. As we were moving out, my husband desperately needed to use the restroom, and was told no several times by the guy working the desk. He stated the CDC doesnt allow it. Really. So I guess every other business in Alexandria, VA, allowing patrons to use the restroom are just ignorant about current CDC regs. I have regard for rules, but if everyone always followed every rule, to the t, most businesses would not survive. Extra Space please train your people to use their common sense and show some common decency. It goes a long way in this life.

Called in to get information, young man there was informative with what i needed. Website prices very affordable no promos but for the long term thats okay. I will definitely rent when ready!

Storage unit is great and so is the staff. However rate can fluctuate without warning or notice based on “market conditions”. My rate has increased over $100 and will start next month. Be sure to do your research before signing.

My wife had a unit there for years and we just moved out. The customer service at this location was phenomenal. The managers there Ken now, and previously Tammie are friendly, attentive to needs, and shows excellent care for the facility. The facility is clean, safe and secure. During this COVID-19 they kept the site clean and made sure the place was disinfected. Kudos to the team there, for taking extreme measures for keeping the place clean and keeping the restrooms locked, i wouldnt want to use a public restroom during a pandemic.

Mae and her co-worker Brandon or Darren (?) took so much extra time to answer all of my questions. They even went above and beyond during this COVID time to inspect the unit before I rented it to assist with all my questions. A family feel with their customer service, and the reason I chose this location.

Very friendly service, easy to use facilities

Ive been storing here for years and just moved out. It was the best experience. The staff was always nice and friendly the building is always clean and well maintained and very secure. I didnt like the periodic rate increases but i understand that its apart of the business. Thank you extraspace staff for making by time there amazing!

Ken was very helpful in setting up our storage lease. After getting everything set up in our original unit, we decided we needed a different size, and he went back and showed us another unit that was better for our needs. I feel confident with our belongings at this location knowing Ken is in charge.

Just be aware, this is a classic bait and switch scheme if you rent month to month. They will raise your rent quite frequently. Mine was just raised by $30 a month for a 10x10. Thats the third time theyve raised my rates in a year and a half. I did my research and rented a unit for a good price, but theres no control over what they do once you move your stuff in. So I will find another place for half the price Im now paying for this one and go thru the hassle of moving. This time Ill pay for a year.

The facility and staff of ESS are very good as many people have noted. The main Corporate investors material shows their strategy is to continually raise prices and hope too many people dont leave. Your unit will be marked up to what is considered a market price any time the market goes up, but never down. if the market price goes down, you will only be marked up 6% every 6 - 9 months. A units cost can double in a couple of years. Overall a great option for short term storage but can be very costly for long term.

The staff is very knowledgeable, courteous, and polite. I wish all companies had such smooth operation. I literally showed up and they brought me a cart immediately, loaded the space, and and then processed the paperwork. All done in about 10 minutes. I felt so relieved I stayed an extra 10 minutes to enjoy pleasant conversation because I felt I had so much time left.

Ken is a phenomenal worker. This is my first time using a storage unit and a uhaul, and Ken was able to assist me with all of it. Before arriving, I got a call from Ken about my reservation and asked if I had any questions, which I had a myriad of. He was able to answer every single one while assisting me financially weigh out all my options. He took me to the storage unit to make sure the space was enough, assisted me setting up my lock, and even came out to direct me backing up my uhaul because I was struggling. I don’t write reviews often, but his presence and work ethic was astounding and I wanted to make sure he received the credit he deserved!

So far so good. Place is really clean and staff was helpful. Simple process.

I am writing to sing the praises of Extra Space Storage in Alexandria and its store manager Tammie Bates. For about a decade, we stored our personal items at this location. And they kept them safe and dry. When it was time to move, I made the mistake of ordering an extra large truck without warning the facility. (Please do call ahead if youre in a similar situation!) I was super stressed because I had a limited window to move and I thought I was going to miss it. But Tammie was kind and gracious and helped me figure out a solution. I highly recommend this facility. And thank you Tammie!

I dont normally leave reviews but my experience with this location was exceptional and I needed to make sure my experience was shared. I recently moved to the area and was searching for a location to store misc items for a short time. I called and spoke with a gentleman named Ken. He was very pleasant, patient and helpful with providing me with the perfect size space for my items. Although, I wont need storage until mid-December, I will certainly reach back out to him to take care of my storage needs.

Great place for storage centrally located near the I-495. Easy to set up a contract in one phone call, extremely well kept and tidy, on-site staff, and security of the location was excellent with plenty of lights, cameras and access codes for entry.
