I went to this place after visiting another coin shop in Pasadena looking to find out about some old coins with the possibility of selling them. This place is a very clean and quaint shop, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They carefully inspected each coin looked up the current value for each coin, and made me an offer. As I said I went to another coin shop that looked at the same coins and made an offer of about half of what Alhambra coin center offered me. I was going to continue to check around for the best deal from other shops, but due to the offer and the cost of gas and time, I felt this was likely one of the top offers Id receive and accepted their offer. It was very quick and professional. Id definitely recommend this shop to anyone interested in buying selling bullion or selling old coins. They do have other items of value as well, designer bags, watches, I even saw a couple of comic books in there. All in all it was a good experience that have me a chance to write a positive review.

One because aunt of place! the first thing they dont even open the door when you come in they dont greet you, when you try to ask a question they dont let you speak! they just say we dont buy we dont buy !!!! Without knowing the concept of why I am there, Today I drove almost 1 hour for nothing that decilution .., I brought a Roman coin of more than 2000 years, the 1982 copper coin that weighs 3.1 and another 1907 centranos what a great disappointment so great I got out of there very very sad I was just looking for an answer and price😢

A very nice coin dealer with a a huge collection of Hermès bags and purses as well as a beautiful sterling silver collection. I stopped to check out the coins and found all this other great stuff. They specialize in gold and silver coins and have action figure coins like the Canadian Superman and Star Wars series. Pretty cool! Friendly staff!

Place is great for the quality of its coins (great selection -- please leave the junk silver for me, the pieces here are really nice for the premium and I want to accumulate all their stock). Staff knows how to advise you as well

This was the first coin shop I went to when I was a just a little kid. They were very patient with me and answered all my questions politely and respectfully and were always showed me what I would ask to look at (assuming they had any). That was the beginning of a long relationship, I always feel welcomed and respected when I go there and if you are interested in the collecting coins or have a collection that you want to know more about, they are perfectly willing to explain what you have and what its worth, even if you end up not buying anything. I would especially recommend this place to anyone who has children who want to get into the hobby.

Discouraged. You always hope your coins are worth something. I pulled out my coins and one was valuable as I started taking the rest out l,the gentleman basically told me they were no good without me putting them out on the counter yet. He said whatever you have just spend it. I asked him about one more and it was actually valuable too so I felt rushed and didnt spend enough time and effort to at least look at them. I get it, they must have a million people asking about coins but you as a customer I want to feel like they gave you at a chance and take their time. I ended up selling him the two coins which I dont know if that was really the value but I just wanted to get out of there from embarrassment.

It was late Friday they were about to close but they got what I wanted at a pretty reasonable price. We talked about 3rd party grading and i was given some really good suggestions on where to have my coins graded. Since Im new to this hobby the information that they gave me at Alhambra Coin Center was priceless. I will definitely do more business with Alhambra Coin and looking forward to it!

The team at ACC is very patient, knowledgeable and kind. I had the opportunity to visit for an hour and do some purchasing. I was shown items and had no pressure to buy. They were polite in answering questions, and allowed me to peruse on my own watch. I enjoyed seeing how they interacted with other customers with the utmost respect; never gossiping or talking down on people (even after a customer has left or hung up the phone). Reasonable pricing and a great assortment of coins in flips. I would be happy to return again when I’m in the area.

Walked in with my coin collection, they were friendly and business like. I recieved prices for everything and sold some items and kept others. In and out in about a half hour with a fair price and a check in hand. I would recommend them.

I have read most of the negative reviews and find the opinions expressed somewhat incoherent. I have been coming here for years to buy and sell gold coins, bullion and numismatic gold coins. The prices for bullion are reasonable ($20-$30) above or below the spot price of gold per troy ounce. Antiques and other collectibles require closer and longer evaluation to arrive at a fair price, therefore phone or email quotes are not going to be reliable. To give a fair assessment one needs to understand these complexities.

For a coin shop they had very few coins.

Flat out rude!! They have a great selection for people w/ loads of $$, but they refused to even look at the greenbook before giving me BS prices for my civil war bonds(mint condition) as well as many other extremely rare coins and art i had. I stupidly took their offer only bc i was so desperate for $$, had i known, i would have gone to Pasadena and gotten a fair price going by the green sheet. That is the coin dealers pricing msnual. These guys werent offering me the cost of the paper the war bonds were printed on and lied about another coin which they were trying to give me the price of silver for...I left with $120 and probably spent $800 on my collection! The owner in the back was extremely rude! the sales guy was trying to bargain with me and the old guy just told him to move on and tell me to take it or leave it! Ill never go back to that shop again! The other coin/antiques dealers have been reasonably honest, this place is evil!

A great store. Great staff. They always answer my questions. Great variety and selection. Great for buying gold and silver.However they do not get the five star because of how they prices their collection coins. They seem to charge a very high markup. For example. They are selling these ghostbuster coins for 125 yet jmbullion and apmex are selling them for 89 with less shipping (free in some cases). Not sure why I’m paying for a $25 markup. Maybe a direct local convenience fee.In the end it’s not a detriment to the staff and selection but just a “lil” odd.Good selection of rare coins and metals and I do purchase coins here. Silver eagles!!

July 2, 1994 sold my 18kt (750) pure gold bracelet from italy worth over 800 dollars and was charged fees for the melting and purifying process -they contract outand was charged a 25% profit on the sale for there store alhambra Coin dont sell your gold at this store they ripped me off minimum $134.00 dollars for the stores profit.Walked away with a mere $510.00 the value of the bracelet in 1997. so sadPhoned Malcom Varner the owner of alhambra coin to tell him about his lady employee and he went on to say buying gold is like buying a car. so sad go to pasadena or downtown L.A. and sell your gold.

Too bad James does not work there anymore. Malcolm was totally clueless about antiques; therefore, do not even try to sell any antiques to this place. Malcolm was extremely rude as compare to other workers there. He told me he was not interested on any of my antiques and that they were Ebay sell-able items. Jean Arp sculpture??? LOL REALLY??? You cant even find one on EBAY silly. Maybe youll find one at a Sothebys or Christies auction. He even turned down on $500+ value pottery by University of North Dakota School of Mines. He has very little experience with antiques and jewelry as compared to James. Dont let his self proclaim credentials fool you. Since James is gone, no one there are experts with art or antiques. You will be better off bringing it to a pawn shop or listing it on Ebay. BTW JAY VARNER DONT LET YOUR BABY BROTHER (MALCOLM GET HIS OWN WAYS. HE IS NOT LIKE YOU AND HE ACTS LIKE A BRAT.
