The new hot deli is located at the front of the store. It combines a fridge of easy prep dishes between a bakery and hot foods section. The fridges contain steamed buns, marinated meat, rice dumpling aka zongzi, and other soy products. Bakery items are a select batch of all the typical breads youd find at a specialty bakery. The hot deli section had an assortment of popular dim sum (Shu mai, chicken feet, lo mai gai aka Nuòmǐ jī, shrimp dumpling, pork spare ribs) and youll also find you tiao for breakfast and roast duck for your lunch or dinner parties. The roast duck in size was on par with other places, can feed 4 people comfortably as a main course. Not too salty so they do provide soy sauce packets if youd like. Preparation of it was very nice as you can see in the photo. Although the skin was not as crispy as I had hoped, I do intend to come back and try another in six months to see if theres any improvement. Crispy aside, still tasted great! The rest of the market is very typical for a Chinese supermarket with the usual diversity in vegetables, fruits, seafood, meat, and packaged produce. Freshness and quality can be found here as well during prime seasons of produce. The new hot deli should help them stand out more in the nearby area.
Great selection of Asian items. Lots of seafood options. Lots of meats as well. And all look fairly fresh. Free streaming for crab and lobster. There is a language barrier but with patience and lots of pointing youll be fine. Nice little gem.
Good variety of Chinese grocery goods including fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, and meats. I also enjoy stitching up on the different cooking sauces, ingredients available and the many choices of instant noodles and in bulk packages with larger discount as well.
Mainly Chinese groceries, has some small sections for other Asian ethnicities products. They recently added some home goods for purchase (plants, silverware, rock fountains etc.) You can also fry your freshly picked seafood if youre in a rush!It looks like theyre trying to build a little café in the store as well, hoping to try it out once its done.Only 4(☆☆☆☆) because the restrooms are not very good. 乁( . ര ʖ̯ ര . )ㄏ
I love asian kitty kats..there so sweet and tastey
Great seafood very fresh. Just look at the tanks they will serve them alive to make sure they are fresh. They have good prices on vegetables too.
The place is very neat and clean. A lot of parking. The price is reasonable.
Went to the locksmith to make some keys. So reasonable. Highly recommend going there to make copies. Avoid Home Depot, very pricey there.
Very convenient, good quality and low price, it is worth shopping again
Nice and friendly staff. I was a new customer and didnt know my way around. Staff there were very helpful and friendly. Open late and pricing is reasonable.
168 is a good Asian market, catering to a large Chinese and Vietnamese population. Personally, it looks a little funky on the outside and doesnt have the best vibe when you first walk in..the lighting is weird. But, it is pretty large and spacious and makes up for those qualities with good produce, a great selection of vegetables, fruits and a good quality meat department. By the way (my wife appreciates this) this market has a large and fresh selection of rice rolls and rice noodles daily. The staff are helpful and friendly. Prices are reasonable and competitive.
I dont really like the atmosphere personally, unlike 99 ranch, 168 is too small and looks ratty outside that need to be repaired
This store is a hit of miss. Sometimes the groceries are decent and fresh, other times theyre not so great to moldy.
Great market with an amazing selection. The fresh seafood is particularly great.
I bought what was supposed to be a whole chicken from the meat department. One of the breasts was missing so essentially 30% of the bird wasn’t there. Hopefully this isn’t a regular practice.
Food is expired but still sale if some one go this is place please have to check your item before you pay, still good or not good
Good place to get Chinese groceries.
Biggest and cleanest 168 Market in the area. A lot of selection at great prices. Cashier lines pretty fast.
The selection is great! I am new in this area but the cashiers are always mean. I really like shop right here but Everytime I came in cashiers are always giving me attitude. One time I spent 300 dollars on food and the cashier doesnt want to bag my stuff. I have to do it by my self. They dont even say thank you and they give you attitude if you have a lot of food on your shopping cart
Good location & big parking lot. As for the supermarket its decent as well. Prices varies since like most places youve gotta know the prices of different markets. While this one might have something cheaper than the other markets, it also have something more expensive than the other markets, so if you know the prices just pick & choose.
This is a great Asian market that plays country music. I find the juxtaposition amusing. I enjoy the seafood section. I sometimes come here just to watch people and live sea critters.
The place is kind of roomy and clean, but I couldnt find what I wanted.
This is a typical Asian grocery store, can’t quite compare it to its competitors. The way they stock their products are a bit confusing. I was in there to look for some fresh herbs for my cold noodle dish. They didn’t carry it.
Walking inside the location of this grocery store, I found it packed with little management of crowd control. Unfortunately the cleaniness and tidiness of this store needs further review by leadership. If the restrooms are a mess and smelly, one can imagine how the areas behind the scene including seafood, meats and produce packing and handling are maintained.
Its a huge supermarket but it doesnt have a good view inside the store. Products seem to be more expensive here, especially the seafood. Eggs are great especially when they have a promotion on going. The idea of putting the moon cakes outside the checkout is not a good idea.
Good market, i got some foods for hot pot at home
Large selection of produce, fruits and Seafood.
Very popular you know hembra place is neat and clean
I luv to buy the bottles of Thai tea from here
Great selection: has many hard to find Asian food items.
Good asian market.
Wish they had one closer... or more 168 near where I liveMeat prices are very good..Great selection of vegetable.Good assortment of sauces and variety snacks..
Reasonable prices on produce and meats. The quality of Seafood is excellent.
Good price and good produces asian supermarket.
They always have a good selection of Chinese and Taiwanese products but they are going through some remodeling.
Selections are fresh and plentiful. Live seafood, AWESOME fruit and veggies! Noodles and ramen choices are great! Theres even an area to buy dishes and furniture. Reasonable pricing considering were in a pandemic (some limited supply chains).
The market is open, clean and ni ely stocked. I loved cruising through the sauce isle
I wore my sunglasses and was mistaken for a chinese speaker. Lots of live fish and exotic, sensual, aphrodisiac foods. I bought a frozen duckling. Quack-quack, quack quack quack, quack!
Best outside Saigon.
Clean n helpful employees n a good variety of Asian groceries 😎
This place is cool it has alot of neat stuff here but the parking is a nightmare. I like to come here for 1 big reason it is because they have vegan beef jerkey. It is called soy steak and it is amazing. It is so hard to find meatless beef jerky in stores so becuase this place has it i will be always coming back. If youre a vegetarian or vegan and love soy alternatives to stuff like beef jerky go try it out it is awesome. They have some other stuff cool too but like I said the parking is a nightmare is always so horrible and stuff isnt the best but its not a horrible place I would give it about a C which is why I gave it three out of five stars.
Bargain Asian grocery store with fresh fish 🐠🐟.
Decent prices, wide selection of food and good layout. However, the interior design changed recently and I am not sure I like the right end of the store the way it is. I preferred the expansive freezer section. Professional staff, good parking. Theyve done a lot to this former Market Basket (then Vons). Live seafood available and butchery looks good.
Medium size supermarket. Expensive food, fruits, and vegetables.
Good place for shopping Chinese food
The checkout clerks are a mainstay to this ethnic Chinese grocery store. Well they look very skinny... Thats right away you can tell theyre so helpful. The small concession of Flowers and botanicals used to be very profitable because there were an assortment miniature tangerines and persimmons. Now, the concession has grown very lazy and carried only plants you can get at home Depot.
Professional and polite
Smaller with less variety. Best for produce selection
Busy for elderly but fast check out
Very good
Some items overpriced
The manager is so rude.He treated me like a criminal and I feel offended.I can’t believe he is a manager.
Great produce. Lot of Chinese and vietnamese noodle selection. My mom and dad love this place.
You only here because you don’t want to deal with the crowd at ‘HAWAII’ market down the street that have everything better than here. 168.
Not as clean as the other 168 markets, but its convenient and has pretty much everything you need, plenty of parking
They offer free ice. Very convenient
A good Asian market with a lot of variety. I normally don’t shop here but my parents do and I go with them sometimes to pick up snacks. Fruits and veggies are great! On point. Dry foods, sauces, snacks - all fantastic with a ton of ethnic variety. The only off putting thing about the market is the feeling of unclean. I mean it’s generally clean-ish but there’s just something about the wet floors and rugs and the massiveness of meat and seafood.
Its a good place, they have good selection, the stuff doesnt go bad.
Being that they are a big place and charge a lot, they should be way cleaner.
Good selections of products
Its too crowded . Its not safe Over there...Doesnt have any protection😰
Interesting food selection.
Fresh meat and vegetables all the time.
Their prices on most of the products are usually little bit higher than other markets. We shop there every once awhile just for fruits and vegetables. I dont like that the fact that this market and almost all of the Asian markets around this area had jacked up their prices during the pandemic. Shop around and dont always go to the same place.
There are many things in the Chinese supermarket. Anything you want to buy can be found here.
Best place to grab asian groceries
Fair enough for the variety of things
Fresh seafood and good price. people will love this place who like seafood. they also steam and cook upon request
Remember when I was a little boy this place was Thriftys Savon back in the day
For the most part, pretty good and fresh grocery. Clean place unlike the Hawaiian market. I go here mainly because of convenience. The lady at the bagging station was kind enough to provide me a box to carry my items to the car
I absolutely love this store to death. Its the most fun store I ever been to. Its live everything in this store and low prices. These people are not greedy and thirsty like Americans are. The prices are great on fruit and veggies meat to. I learn in this store this store have educated me on fish Ive never heard of or saw in my lifetime. I purchased me some green onions 99 cent for 3 bundles Vons and Ralphs one bundle was 1.00. I like 168 Market you can get a lot of bang for your buck. Also I got eggs here 2 for 3.00 😁 in Vons and Ralphs your going to pay 2.00 or more for one thing of eggs. Every time Ive been in 168 Market eggs are always super cheap. I love this store so much its so amazing its a lot to see its a experience for me
The service was bad. Threw my stuff like garbage. I quit buying.
Dishonest frozen department
Good produce, expensive seafoodNot so crowded store, worth shopping
Typical Chinese business, dont expect good or friendly service from the employees. Just go in and grab whatever you need and go. Be careful while shopping in the store, you can get run over by the employees pushing their handtrucks or carts while stacking their merchandise By the way, of you do get hit by the, dont expect any apologies, it was your fault to be in their way.
Nice clean supermarket. Price is Right. On sale items are good most times
Moldy deep fried soy bean cake even within expiration date. I live far away from store i can only go there on weekend. But store only have 7 day return policy. Store was so nice to extend one week for return but i have to keep the moldy item for one more week and bring it with me for return . The way they treat public health and safety really surprised me.
The best store a large food from Taiwan. So good so good price and freshness
The store was clean and the staff were helpful.
There is a guy who does keys on the outside right side of the market. Hes pretty quick. Always there till 8. Its nice addition to the market
Most people here are nice and friendly, only one cashier with glasses was extremely rude and ignorant. Dont see her that often, but when encounter with her, yall will see the dumbest and rudest person on earth.
This was a first for me. My first time visiting an Asian market in California. I was looking for frozen eel and a few other unusual items. Found everything and I just wish I knew more. Will try to learn more about Asian cuisine before going back.
Asian super market, has what you need to make any Asian dish you could think of. Live seafood, fresh durian, moon cake, frozen dumplings. If they, dont have it you probably dont need it.
Its a well kept Asian market in the heart of San gabriel valley. Clean market and easy parking! What more can you ask for?
This is an extremely cheap market. Ive lived in Glendale most of my adult life and no market in that whole area can compete with 168 in prices. The quality of the produce and especially the meat is pretty low, but the price is good. One part that I dont like about this place are all the cashiers. They take their sweet time with all customers and talk among their coworkers. Waiting in line for 15 minutes is pretty normal for 168 Market.
Great selection. Just be aware that some items are not fresh anymore.
Lots to choose
I shop there twice a month to get most of my groceries. Generally it has fresh produce and reasonable prices. The last several visits at the meat department, however, were not pleasant at all. The staff behind the counter appeared unhappy to be there and unwilling to assist the customers. I waited to be served but the staff was talking among themselves and acting like we were transparent. Never a smile or even a courtesy exchange of words. I bought some pork ribs and asked them if they can cut it for me. First guy flat out said no rudely, the second guy came along and said if I will go pay for it first and then bring it back, he will cut it for me. With a full cart of groceries, I didnt want to checkout and then bring the meat back for cutting. The customer service at the meat department does not exist. Think I will start shopping at other Asian markets nearby.
Ok
Love the variety of food and stuff they offer.
Its good market to shop grocery. But its small place.
Got what I needed, but inside of the market was incredibly cold. And the flock of seagulls outside crapping on the cars in the parking lot. Maybe next time Ill drive to the San Gabriel store.
Good location, can find a lot of the things that I need over there, dont need to make another trip to other supermarket.
