Thankfully some things never change! This quaint old-fashioned family business appears not to have skipped a beat over Covid. They still have many of the same familiar faces standing behind the counters, tempting us all to indulge in their exquisite candy. The smell alone that hits you when you first enter the store could be bottled & sold. Id definitely buy some! I also bought some candies to bring home, & have been happily munching away ever since. Hands down the best chocolate candy I have ever had in my life. Be sure to treat yourself, promise youll be glad you did!!

Ive been going here for over 40 years... obviously that goes back to Hamilton Street location!They have a wonderful dejection of chocolate and other sugary treats. The staff is very helpful and generous in allowing a few samples to jump aboard should you need help choosing.Its width the time to stop in and pick up a treat.

I came expecting a candy shop, I got a chocolate shop. Chocolate is good, dont get me wrong, but I was expecting jawbreakers, jellybeans, licorice, an assortment of candy, as well as chocolates. All I got was chocolate and nuts. The name is deceiving.

Best assorted chocolates and worth the price. Its about 24-32 dollars per lb. The store is so clean and the people working help you quickly. Chocolate licorice is one unique find I bought last time. This place is a must go whenever I am in Allentown

I love this store and their delicious chocolate. However, today, I was extremely disappointed. I was just looking for jellybeans, which they always have; but not today. Most of their many tables and shelves, which are normally fully stocked, were empty. Even at Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter they were fully stocked. I don’t recall this store ever not being stocked. Very disappointed. I hope this doesn’t become a common practice for them.

I love their candy, I got the peanut butter truffles rolled in pecans theyre absolutely fantastic! Prices have gone up$3 a pound since last year, but when I asked the woman if I could have for half pound boxes they charge an extra $4 per pound for splitting the candy up I said forget it Ill just take the pound boxes and split it up myself and put it nice and containers. That really annoyed me. But the candy is outstanding and the customer service is great also

Great homemade candy store. When traveling thru Pa we always stop for Josh Early Candies. They are the best. Best milk chocolate. Melts in your mouth. So smooth. This time we also picked up Amaretto Cordials. OMGOODNESS is all I have to say. So delicious. Definitely worth stopping in.

What can I say, everybody likes good chocolate. My wife and I are no exception to that rule and Josh Early delivers in that department. Seems everyone is raising their prices somewhat to compensate for downtime during the pandemic but this business has taken clever marketing to a new level raising their prices on prepacked nonpareils 15% at the same time shrinking the packaging making that item 12.5% less. That type of inflation can kill an economy as anyone living through the 70s knows. They get you both ways thinking no one will notice. Be advised that tasty little treat is going to cost you and all Americans much more than you think.

Let me start by saying, the variety of chocolates and candies and the staff are deserving of 5 stars, but the chocolate is not exotic or gourmet.With that being said its a great place for gifts to yourself or others!

Josh Early Candies is a chocolate lovers paradise : A great small batch candy confectionary. They have the absolute best chocolates anywhere. Great varieties of milk, dark and white chocolate filled with fruits, nuts, creams, toffees etc. Also loved the new habanero sea salt caramel!! But my all time favorite are the milk chocolate buttercream!!

So old fashioned and charming! Lots of different candy types, including handmade chocolates and bagged candy like gummy bears and jelly beans. Prices reflect the handmade nature of the candy but is not unreasonable. Also has lots of really cute plush and things that are perfect for gifts. They will let you sample any of the chocolates if you are going to make a purchase.

The chocolates are good and theres a big selection of them. However there are not very many hard candies to choose from. Everything is extremely overpriced including the candy heart on the display counter.

The candy there has skyrocketed in price a pound of candy is 25 dollars. Ive been going there 50 years. Never seen anything like it. Price gouging because they had a bad year...but didnt we all. Ended up not buying but one thing because I promised the kids. Went to Premise Maid Candies instead. Price friendly. Sad for Josh Early

Josh Early Candies is a great chocolate shop with nice decorations and a very cozy and peaceful vibe every time you enter. They have so many assortments of the most delicious chocolate imaginable and even some adorable stuffed animals! The delicious smelling shop also has very nice employees and even free samples you can try at the counter. Definitely recommend!

Highly recommend the caramel corn! It is rich, buttery, salty, and crispy. I also tried one of their buttercreams. The chocolate was smooth with a satisfying snap and the filling melted in my mouth. Highly recommend this little shop. Staff was very friendly and more than willing to help

Fresh, clean, wide variety of yumminess, all wrapped up in lovely boxes and containers in a store that appears not to have changed in 50 years and that is a very, very, good thing. I love this store. I visited on Valentines Day and although the store seem to have at least 100 customers we all waited quietly and patiently, in several lines, to make our purchases. Even the littlest kids waited in quiet anticipation of the goodies to come. It was like magic. Like a best kept secret. Everyone,😀 customers and staff alike, seemed so happy to be there. Pure pleasure!

Id give it five stars for being the fact that its a local institution and been around a long time. That adds to the character in a sense of place in the community. But the candies themselves are not really very good quality. As a fan of high quality crafted chocolate, I find their chocolate rather mundane. But they have a pretty good selection and if youre looking for a nice gift box for Grandma, Im sure shed be happy with it.

Place is packed with late Christmas shoppers like me. Service was great. Got in and out quickly.

Very friendly and the chocolate is delicious. I recommend the chocolate covered strawberries they make for Valentines Day and Morhers Day.

A little Pricey but there great Chocolate Candies.

A company with the reputation and longevity of Josh Early hardly needs a review, but after a recent visit, I felt the need to share publicly how wonderful their staff/owners are. I stopped in to grab a quick gift, but theres no such thing as quick when you have a 1 and 3 year-old with you. Of course my newly potty-trained 3 year-old needed a bathroom trip, and one of the women behind the counter very generously whisked us to a private staff-only bathroom before a real emergency was upon us. They even let me and my kids take a peak at the candy-making process, and sent both kids home with their own bags of nonpareils! We all know Josh Earlys candy is the best - but it turns out their customer service is as well.

The owners are extremely nice, definitely one of the nicest people Ive ever met. Theyre elders and make the candy with care. The candy is homemade and very delicious, its the best candy Ive ever tasted. Dont even get me started on the chocolate---its like heaven in your mouth. Yes it is expensive but its worth it. Its good and Id say its made with love. The people who complain its too expensive have no taste for quality candy and chocolate and probably eat candy that is cheap and gross. Go here for candy and friendly service.

Best homemade candy

Went for a 90th birthday gift for my aunt. Found green nonpareils for St Pattys/Spring. The clerk went above and beyond to make it perfect. She took them out of the plastic container and put them in a gift box, wrapped it in beautiful paper and finished it off with a nice bow. Couldnt ask for a better present. Great product and even better customer service! A longtime Lehigh Valley gem!
