We were searching for a new place to try and this place was perfect! They have great food and the atmosphere and workers were very welcoming. Felt just like having a home cooked meal. Well definitely be back to visit sometime soon.

I regret not getting pictures here. What a great neighborhood stop! Great food, excellent service. My friend got French toast and declared it the best he had ever had. I had eggs, sausage and toast and it was excellent. My only disappointment? They were just bring out the gyro meat as we finished breakfast. I missed my chance to get an authentic Greek gyro, but that gave me incentive to return. We highly recommend the G-B Grill!

First time customer today, absolutely delightful ❤ breakfast was perfect, handbreaded fried chicken with mashed potatoes 💯 (basically everything was cooked right in front of you). The family environment and the way they made you feel at home was beyond anything you will experience in the restaurant business. Please give this place a chance cause I guarantee you will be more then satisfied. This is the type of business we need more of.

We went to visit Alton for a weekend and looked up the best food. G-B grill did not disappoint!!Their food was excellent for being home made! I felt at home! I met the owner and his wife. What a wonderful experience!

I got a $1.70 cheeseburger, Frys, a coke, and the Chicken n Dumpling lunch Special, and had NO IDEA that was gonna cost $16.50 +tip, no written bill, was just like pulled the price out of Cloud-9, and it wasnt that good of food anyway. I could a had a Nice Prime Rib Dinner at Texas Roadhouse for that kinda Cash

Stopped by this little diner on a whim & was superbly grateful that we did. The owner/cook and his son were friendly and inviting to start. The food was everything we hoped. We love to support small businesses and this one may top my list. When I come to Alton again, I will definitely go back.

The only place to go that feels like a diner. The old Juke box still works. The place is very clean. Food good. Owners serve you and are friendly. Relaxing.

This place is old school and awesome. Biscuits and gravy for $3, I highly recommend the Las Vegas omelette with gravy on the hash browns.

Fantastic diner with a 70s vibe (60s even) where the food is rib sticking comfort and the service is like you are visiting family. I thoroughly enjoyed the regular customers banter and interaction with the staff. When $9 is the most expensive meal, it is also good on your wallet. My wife was thrilled with the homemade dumplings and got a cheeseburger for later. Dont t forget a tasty piece of pie for dessert. The place is clean, bright, and very entertaining.

G B Grill is an old style, blue plate diner. Established in 1910, it is still operated by the same family, and provides the kind of food and service you would expect from a 100 year family restaurant. Simple dishes, made well, and the best gyros in town.

Great little diner, a Jewel in the rough. Ham and cheese omelette was delicious. Definitely worth stopping in. Gonna be my weekend breakfast go to from now on. My son said the biscuits and gravy were really good too. Great job!!

Found this authentic, retro diner to be a true delight. Food was diner-comfort and the owner told us the history. Fabulous little find. This will definately be a brekkie go-to when we are in Alton IL.

I always went here with my grandpa joe for breakfast when I was younger . I haven’t been there in a while but it’s one of the best breakfast places I been too. I have so many memories here. We always went here when I stayed the night at his house.
