Hello! I came in today and was looking at the old guitar you had, (i have been playing guitar for 12 years now)I picked it up to play it to see if it was something I’d like to buy as I have been looking for an old one for some time now, when I was playing it to see how high the action was and if it had any fret buzz and the tonal quality of it and much more you came over and told me to put it down, I mean no disrespect but if an experienced player is going to buy a guitar they are going to have to play it, else they have no idea of the quality of the guitar or if it fits their playing style. And I realize that you probably thought I was young and didn’t have the money but I did and really wanted to get it but when people are going to buy a guitar it’s essential to play it weather antique or new so you might have to let people play it!You have the temper of a 5 year old, grow up
I wouldnt go there again with so many signs about possible prosecution. It didnt make for a good shopping experience, and I was alone, with my hands in my pockets the entire time. I bought a few things but I carried them carefully to the front. When I checked out the lady said, This came to the store in mint condition. Yea, I find that hard to believe. Anything in mint condition should always be in a bag or locked behind glass.Judging by the other reviews, Im not the only one who felt this way, and again, I was alone.
Ive spent money with this store before, quite a bit actually. But after taking a stroll through alley katz and talking to the wonderful workers at their location, then going into this particular store to look for some specific items, I couldnt help but feel the miserable woman manning the front register drives people away.Having spoken to a friend who has a lot here and had expressed previous discontent for how this woman treats customers, I really shouldve seen it coming; But I suppose thats on me for assuming better of people in their older age who really should know better.Anyways, lots are good, but you have to put yourself through quite a bit of disrespect to even check out.Alley Katz is great though, and you should definitely check them out before you step foot in here. But anyways, Ill turn the other cheek just like your magic Jesus book says.
Lady at the register is so mean and unwelcoming. She must worship Satan every night!
Had oil changed and technician walked me thru how to work some of the gauges and systems in truck! Thanks!
Owner was very nice and helpful discussing the antique business
Super place. Amazing service.
Go to a different one this place not it
Lots of glass dish sets. Lots of random odds and ends. Youd have to visit to see.Lil pricy but the stuffs antique what do you expect?
On one hand, the selection was great. I found several things I would have purchased even at the inflated prices. On the other hand, I dont like to spend money at places without a customer restroom. The woman working at the desk claims they use a bucket because they dont have plumbing. Ummm, no thank you. Also, as mentioned by another reviewer, the negative and rude signs ALL over the store were really off-putting which goes along with the general feeling of being unwelcome. I was prepared to spend a lot of money there, but instead left empty handed.Business owners are certainly free to make their own decisions, but so am I, and I am glad I didnt spend money there.
Over priced items with a unwelcoming and rude atmosphere. Plenty of better shops nearby.
One of our favorite places to shop. They always have new inventory. Fun place.
Good selection of route 66 signs, trucks, etc. Some people are saying they werent friendly. I dont remember that but I wasnt looking for someone to kiss up to me.
Good merchandise but when i needed a restroom, sent down the street to a coffee shop dark and black colors. Creepy to me in a strange area.
We had a terrible experience. The lady was rude to us the moment we walked in. We came in with our kids and she stared at us the whole time. She told us several times our kids had to be right next to us at all times, which I understand as kids can break things, but it should be delivered in a more respectful way. Our kids are respectful of things and I realize she wouldn’t know this, but staring us down and her tone should have been better.Edited in response:I am going to keep this short, as I could go on and on about how your response is incorrect. It is your business how you conduct things, but just know that with your ugly attitude you will get less and less business.
What a great place to lose yourself in the past. The cashier (I apologize for not catching her name) was AMAZING! She had lots of local historical information. Which is very interesting to us new folks in town. She also chatted with my 12 year old about old school and new school things. And she dressed like a pinup girl. What a great experience! Definitely taking our visitors that come to town!
Rude atmosphere, overpriced, never entering again
Decent place, but we left pretty quickly after the peppering of signs telling you to monitor your kids. Of course, if our kid breaks something well buy it! Heck, if I break something Ill buy it! It was too much so we found other similar stores that were more friendly to us.
Good pieces but very rude owner. Owner was rude when interacting and rudeness came through on signs every 6 feet. In addition to clearly viewing customers as a potential problem and irritant, owner was also very condescending suggesting we could not afford her products. I am a business owner and the owner of this establishment could really benefit from a course on customer service and customer interaction. As further evidence of the owner’s bad attitude towards customers, you simply have to see the responses to negative reviews: rarely apologizes and is argumentative. Instead of learning from her customers’ opinions and experiences and trying to improve, she mostly digs in even further. We spent the whole afternoon antiquing around this area. Hers was the only shop that we didn’t buy anything from, not due to bad product, but due to bad customer experience. I refused to purchase anything on principle and will not be returning. I’m sure she will have a very argumentative and condescending response to this review as well.
This was our first time there. After going in I was impressed with the amount of items on display. Then I start looking at the prices, (WOW) everything was 4-5 time what it was worth, I mean everything. My wife and I travel around the central US antiquing a lot, and like most people we like a bargain, and dont mind paying retail for something or even a little more if we want it. But this was stupid. Plus the staff was not very helpful.
Good inventory and fun collections (average compared to the rest of the area), but not a very welcoming atmosphere, especially if you have children. A lot of signs about keeping children in check in very offsetting way. Shop keeper overly watchful of my very calm-demeanored, well-mannered kids. I’m more than understanding about the need for antique stores to encourage caution with little ones, but it was a bit over the top. I much preferred the surrounding antique stores, where shop keepers were very friendly and polite with me and my kids. (At a neighboring shop, the cashier even gave them some free books to encourage them to come back). So, an ok stop in general, as far as antiquing goes, but not my preference when considering the simple small-talk and pleasant speciality I tend to enjoy at other places.(Update after reading owners response:) Ill just let the owners own response to my review (as well as her response to others reviews) speak for themselves.
While the store was awesome, what we saw of it, there is NO PUBLIC RESTROOM. We are traveling Rte 66 to the west coast and hitting antique malls along the way. A mall that size that is off Old Rte 66 that doesnt offer a bathroom to its patrons is BAD BUSINESS! We left to go find a bathroom AND DIDNT GO BACK! There were a few things that we were interested in seeing and buying but couldnt stay! Sale and money lost!
We broke a rule within 30 seconds of walking in when my daughter stepped out of my arms reach. We antique all over Texas and each of my three kids gets a pretty big budget and shops on their own. They are 12,15,and 17. Under 18 has to be roped to an adult in here or they dont want your money. Shame we saw something in the window that we buy no matter what every time we see one. Well, unless we get kicked out....
Fun haunt when Im in town.
Great selection upstairs and down. Lots of vintage toys, jewelry, kitchenware and collectibles. Owner is friendly and a fellow miniature schnauzer lover!
This place was very, very rude they have signs posted all over the store that are semi aggressive. Making it seem like everyone that goes into there store is just going to break everything. Not to mention the signs were posted EVERYWHERE it made me so mad like one is enough at the front door not posted on every single wall in the whole store.
Dont go here the proprietor is rude if you have a kid with you and is way over priced . Thinks she is American picker status. Ha and to reply with your little kids post is pathetic . Everyone if you want a real good experience at an antique store that is fair prices and you arent lied to about the now seen 45 year or older lie go to meemaws and paw paws store across the street.
The best, true antique store in the Panhandle. So many excellent, hard to find treasures.
I was happy to find a small native american baby doll. The front vendor woman was upset that I asked her to please wrap my antique doll in tissue paper. She answered back to me that she WAS going to wrap them and continued to roll her eyes and shake her head. I asked if i upset her and she smiled quietly. -Laredo Texas
Never new it existed was curious its amazing dont take little kids to many items breakable love it
Friendly people. The items I was interested in were overpriced, not a criticism, just a fact. I know my market. Not a reason to not visit.
The gal at the register is rude and the store is way overpriced. I am from Coeur dAlene, Idaho and the store clerks there are much kinder. Will not shop there again.
When me and my two sons entered the store, the lady at the desk gave us a rude stare. When I asked if she had a specific type of item for my younger son, she just told me that it was too expensive for us to buy, (which later we found was not true). So we brushed it off as my younger son and I walked off, and left my older son, who is 15, to look in some of the cabinets near the front desk. While he was looking at an item, he was asked by the lady to go find his mother, and that children were not allowed to be left unattended. He’s fifteen for god sakes! Our family has been antique store treasure hunting for years, and this is the first time we have ever encountered an attitude like this. We felt so insulted that we decided to leave there and then. I felt unwelcome with my boys, and would never recommend this store.
Really I would just consider this a museum. The prices were 5 times higher than the other stores on the same block and this store had an unfriendly atmosphere.
Great place for shopping and very friendly!!
Lots of diverse items. Very good.
They have antique stuffs, but priced kind of high! If you are really into antique stuffs you will love it!
Racist establishment!! I walked in to the shop and a lady came up to me and told me to leave. She then said she thought I was someone else, but didn’t even apologize. I think she just judged me for being a Korean American minority!
A few interesting places along here but nothing too special really. The legend of Route 66 I suppose, but really just another country street mostly full of cheesy shops selling tacky junk.
Rude signs. Rude customer service. High prices for nothing but glass.
Love six street in Amarillo Texas
