I visited this shop for the first time in over 5 years. I had so much fun. The Cast Member working was named Henry, and he was doing all sorts of tricks without trying to sell you anything. We told a bunch of jokes, laughed a lot, and had an all around fun time. I hope that when I visit the sho again, he is working it.

The shop offers a wide range of magic tricks, but thats all it offers. Everything I saw here was a gimmick of some sort, and nothing they had was teaching sleight of hand or technically difficult magic. Its very tuned toward a younger audience which makes sense with where it is, but if you are looking for a more mature magic shop, this is not it. Combine that with the Disney premium prices, and it really makes this less appealing. If you already paid for entry to the park, you might as well stop by, but otherwise, I would look elsewhere for magic.

I preferred the shop when it was run by Disney, the magicians were better and the atmosphere was more calm. The Houdini chain of stores manages it now. They do fine but you can tell the difference. As a performing magician of 20+ years I can tell you that this is a tourist centered shop. The props and books are the same quality that youdo get at most other shops. The best stuff is their books. They always keep their classic books well stocked and they have a handful of exclusive books by some talented writers.I think Id prefer an excellent magician that would periodically perform a great close-up show. A place where you could buy silly magic props at your leisure. To clarify, its a misconception that Steve Martin worked on Main Street. He actually worked in the magic shop in Fantasyland. It closed years ago.

Funny despite this being on Main Street USA, Disneyland, it is still a traditional high pressure sales magic shop. Considering that, avoid it at all costs. And yes Steve Martin worked here once, but no the employees dont want to talk about it, they just want to sell sell sell.

Its a fun store specializing in tricks and pranks, ranging from silly little things to more elaborate magic tricks. If you have a kid interested in magic tricks, or are one, or are an adult who is, its a cute fun shop to visit.

After this store was remodled into Houdinis Magic Shop it seems that the items stocked are very generic; almost 99 Cent Store quality stuff. Nothing in here worth buying for me, although the Cast Members are friendly.
