I had another great experience! Of course, I love this store: the recommendations staff makes in person are great and the curated collection is fantastic and sure to feature many of the “Best of...” found in all my favorite cooking articles, shows and reviews. I was further blessed today to experience great follow-up customer service when a Oxo kitchen scale I bought from here stopped working. Jasmine walked me through the next steps of what I could do and also let me know she would keep an eye/ear on the situation if this is a product issue. Wow! It reinforced the relationship and the value of this store as my gourmet kitchen shop of choice!
Redoing my review due to owner responding with personal information. Please do not post names and items purchased. I will not be back due to rude customer service and wasting my time.Went to return gifts. Rep didnt know what she was doing so she had to call someone. Refused to return the items after making me wait about 20 minutes. Said items were not purchased there, even though one tag said Habitat on it and I know for a fact it was purchased there. Two reps now at the front, both very rude. Awful customer service. I will buy online and encourage others to do the same rather than shop here. Waste of my time and I already hate going to the mall
I had issues at first. However After dealing with the manager Bekki,My issues were resolved in a prompt and professional manner.I have nothing but Great things to say about this store. Great Customer Service.
I was told to leave the store. I asked why and I was told it was because I had surgical gloves on. She said I could be speading stuff from all over town on their items, (as if bare hands wont). I explained that I put on a new pair every time I go into a new store. She said it didnt matter. I feel that asking me to remove the gloves would have been more appropriate. I was going to spend a bit of money too... I needed some cookware.
Lovely selection and friendly well trained staff.
Nice Specialty Store for housewares.Helpful and friendly staff.
I have been a customer of Habitat for many years and appreciated a locally owned store for kitchenware. I have noticed a dramatic change in customer service and untrained staff since the new ownership in 2016 and their recent move to the Dimond Center...I recently did a registry for my wedding at Habitat instead of using a national chain, however we heard from most of our wedding guests that when purchasing an item from the registry they had a subpar experience from unfriendly staff and staff members not knowing how to work their computers and registers at checkout. We received two gift cards and returned to the store this past weekend to use them. There were three workers and the only one who asked us if we needed help finding stuff was on the floor stocking. She was very friendly and helped us with what we were looking for. But then came time for us to checkout and that seems to be the major complaint with everyone is that nobody there knows how to use the cash register. The employee helping us at the cash register told us that one of the gift cards had nothing on it. So we asked for her manager to assist and the other two workers came and assisted on both computers trying to see how to use our gift cards and after about 10 minutes they were able to figure it out. Even one of the employees (older lady) complained that she doesnt like computers.Bottom line, if you want to buy local and spend 15 minutes at the cash register with untrained staff this is your place!
Habitat has the best selection of kitchen items! I can always find what Im looking for here. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the store is well organized. Love their new location in the Dimond Center!
I have been going to Habitat for over 20 years... While it is true that sometimes the staff is a bit overwhelmed, in most cases I found what I was looking for, I was helped with parts for appliances, and often bought more than I had originally planned for. This store is a treasure trove for anybody interested in cooking or looking for interesting gifts for friends and family. Their move to Dimond Center is a loss for me, I liked to have them in my neighborhood, but I will certainly continue to patronize them, and I am sure that all efforts are made to ensure that staff is up to the task. The number of white boxes with green lids at my home and at my friends places is quite a testimony of our faithfulness to Habitat Housewares!
I shopped at Habitat often when I lived in Anchorage and they were located at University. Today, at their Dimond location, I saw a beautiful set of dishes and inquired about how they were sold - individually or as a set. The saleswoman answered my question but proceeded to tell me that the dishes were very expensive. For extra effect, she added that they don’t work on commission there. I didn’t ask about cost or commission. I wanted to purchase a beautiful set of dishes. I didn’t make the purchase and I left feeling angry and lousy. Beautiful store but terrible service.
Im writing this post because I had terrible customer service at Habitat. What is customer service? For those of you clueless people out there, it is helping your customers solve problems, with an air of actually caring that they are happy and satisfied. Why? Because they are the freaking reason you are there! Without paying customers your store does not exist. This concept seems to be beyond the Me Generation. Clue: your job is to serve, not to pass your time until you pick up your paycheck.I bought a pepper mill that turned out to be defective and, granted it took me a while to find my receipt and make it over to that part of town with the object in hand, but that did not change the fact that the thing didnt function properly. I had the manager try it out, and she said, I see what you mean, but its been too long since you bought it so Ill give you the number of the manufacturer and you can see what they can do. All she had to do was to trade it out for the identical model that did function properly, but no, she could not be bothered with my little problem. She wrote the number of the manufacturer on my receipt and waved me away.I have been shopping at Habitat for years. I guess Ill just take my chances with the Internet from now on.
Bought kitchen items for my house and been very happy with them. The staff there have been helpful and friendly. Will definitely shop there again.
Awesome store pricey but isnt that the cost you pay for quality. Great staff always helpful and kind. Quiet clean store and great products
Great staff, wonderful store, and a great set of products! My wife and I enjoy the Zeal brand quite a bit.
I’m just a regular guy, and I always get help finding what I’m looking for here.
Actually, 0 stars as they do not stand behind their products to issue a refund. Refused to issue a refund for a poor quality product. We will not shop here anymore.
Love their selection, and staff is always friendly. Would recommend to anyone!
Best housewares store in Alaska. Staff is super friendly and helpful
Best selection in town, and their staff was very knowledgeable and helpful!
After several shopping trips to this store over the last two years yesterday, was the most horrible experience Ive ever had there. I went there to replace a CO2 cartridge that I had seen on a back shelf during previous visits and walked up to the counter when the only sales person ( an older lady) was standing on the customer side of the counter talking to an advertising sales person. She never acknowledged me and left me standing there for about two minutes and finally walked to the other side of the counter. I inquired about the exchange and she went into a long story about how they no longer do that because it used to cost them so much money. She then just turned around and walked away and went up and asked another customer if she could help them. All she needed to tell me was sorry we no longer carry that and it wouldve been great, her actions and wording were so intensely pretentious it was miserable. We only shop here because and pay a little higher price because it is a locally owned store… but we will never do it again!
