Absolutely ruined my table. Vanished after promising a refund.I brought my table to Ahmad to be refinished. He projected 2 weeks to complete the job and proceeded to take nearly 3 months. I overlooked that issue, believing his explanation that the cold weather was slowing the drying time for each step. Then, when he finally said he was finished, I came to pick the thing up...... and (this is not the worst part) he had altered the color without my permission from a beautiful natural wood yellow to a very dramatic dark reddish brown. All we had really needed was a new light refinish and poly! No clue why he decided to completely alter it, because when you put tough questions to him he goes off on unrelated tangents. Along with a new color, he had left giant dark brown splatters of the stain all over the antique white trim underneath. I had to give him yet another day to clean all that off. Finally, when I was there to take it home, he made me aware that the varnish was in fact still not dry, demonstrating that touching it at all left giant smears and prints and left brown goo on your hands. He suggested we give it another 4-5 days to dry in our home, which we did. 2 weeks later, it still had not dried, and it had furthermore begun to flake off & reveal the old original yellow. Ive used stains before and never seen one do that, so I presume he instead used some sort of brown paint. What on Earth!? So now, we have a fairly expensive table that looks like we picked it up from the roadside, and it still gets brown stuff on our hands.I finally called and told Ahmad that Id like my money back, and he promised to mail me a check. Thats been over three weeks ago, and he has since then not sent a check, nor answered or returned my calls.
Arbor Furniture is the best! I have had several couches and chairs redone there for the best quality service at the lowest price.
Mr. Baratloo and his partner reupholstered my couch and repaired, refinished, and reupholstered a set of antique dining room chairs. Mr. Baratloo is a true craftsman and artisan. The quality of his work was excellent, and the price very reasonable. Arbor Furniture Repair is fast and reliable, and I would recommend this business for a wide range of furniture services.
Artisan Baratloo is a genius with his hands. He is a gentleman from another time, another place. The complainers are reacting to the fact that, yes, he is somewhat eccentric, and yes, old world skill sometimes does go hand in hand with old world time tables. I hope I have half his vigor when Im 90! If you want it fast, take it to some kid fresh out of trade school, and get something perfect, normal, and forgettable. Go to Mr. Baratloo if you want a solid, usable thing of beauty made by someone with 3/4 century of experience working fabric, wood, and memories of fine things that no longer exist. Hire him now, because in this day of IKEA and toxic fake wood, he is the last of his kind. When he is gone, theyre not making any more like him.
Mr. Baratloo is a genius when it comes to repairing antique furniture. We brought him our antique wing back chair with a shattered right foot. My husband was sure it damaged beyond repair. I held out hope because I recently paid $600.00 for fabric and reupholstery on the chair. After extensive study of the leg, Mr. Baratloo said he could handle it. It less than two weeks, he called and we picked up our chair. It is good as new! Thank you for putting a smile on my face!
That got the job done.
