My brand new PC was acting up, and it was really worrying me. Brought it in to these guys to see if they could diagnose the problem. They ran some tests that I would not have been able to do on my own and then... It just started working again? So yeah. They must be wizards. In all seriousness, Im really glad I went to them. Theyve got the tools and patience needed to fully check out your computer for a very reasonable price. Customer service was on point; they really cared about my PCs well-being. They even asked me to check in once I got it home and tested it out.Patient. Trustworthy. Five stars.
Just got back home with my newly repaired keyboard. Ive used these guys 4 or 5 times over the past several years and theyre always fast, friendly and fairly priced. Highly recommended!
Needed help on an adapter for my home computer. These guys were super helpful, had exactly what I needed and it was very affordable. I started at Staples and that was a big mistake. Would highly recommend this place.
Needed a new computer so I went back to Computer Alley. Not only did I get a lot of really good information but I got the best deal on the box that I could find even looking at specials through online retailers. I went back because they service their products and treat you well plus I saved over $50 and took it home with me that day. The staff all wore masks and I had absolutely no safety concerns!! Cant recommend enough.
Very helpful. Had item I needed
Computer Alley is a great resource! My computer crashed...leaving me off-line (yikes!). I rushed it to Computer Alley, and Robin provided the necessary intensive care. Robin both educated me and kept me informed. He was awesome. And this old computer is running faster and better than it did when it was new! I highly recommend this business, especially now when our computers are such a large part of keeping us in touch. Thank you, Robin!
I have to compliment Computer Alley in many ways. The staff KNOWS computers. I have been impressed several times with how much each staff person is informed about computers. Alex has helped me so many times, whether it is getting my computer running again or working with me remotely to get my printer working. Nowadays, a computer is no longer a luxury--it is almost an appendage: I need it in order to work, in order to communicate, teach classes, take classes, manage my business. When my relatively new computer suddenly went white and spelled out in teeny font: Hard drive Not detected, I was extremely worried. All my writing is on my computer. Robin and Andrew stepped right in. They called me throughout the day to let me know the status of the repair. Computer Alley always contacts me before they make any repair--both so that I understand why the repair is necessary, what options I have, and to discuss cost. Every time. They repaired my computer quickly. I am also always informed about the amount of time will be necessary for repair.
Great experiences here-- been in several times and everyone Ive talked to has been friendly, knowledgeable and provided clear and patient explanations to the less computer literate (me). First place Id recommend going for parts, service or new equipment.
Went in for some help getting a second screen for pandemic zoom meetings - they were GREAT - they have some used screens for really nice prices. The young man that helped me seemed very knowledgeable. No up sells - just solutions - Thank you!!
I was on a work trip and had some computer problems. Computer Alley has excellent customer service and got me back on the road in no time. Highly recommend! Thanks!
Cant speak highly enough about the service experience I just had at Computer Alley. My tower needed some extensive repairs and these folks took care of me 100%.Both on the initial phone call and at check-in, Tony made sure I fully understood my options and what would follow. Alex worked on my machine and did a superb job of ensuring I got the right fit of replacement components.I cant imagine a more professionally run and reasonably priced computer parts and repair service in Ann Arbor.
So appreciate Devlin and Andrew setting me up with a reconditioned laptop! Very knowledgeable, superb value, and highly recommend Computer Alley, as they remind me of a team of consultants in all things PC who helped me in Pittsburgh more than 30 years ago.
I came in to Computer Alley with very little knowledge about what needed to be fixed/if my laptop could be fixed. The guys were all incredibly helpful in diagnosing the problem and finding a solution. I mainly worked with Alex, and I cannot speak highly enough of him. He went above and beyond to make sure my experience was a good one. We had a small miscommunication about a certain part that was needed and Alex made put a rush on the part and was able to fix my computer within 24 hours of the new part arriving. Thank you so much to Alex and everyone at Computer Alley! You all are great!!
Very friendly staff, quite knowledgeable. They dont carry a wide breadth of enthusiast grade hardware, but whats there is generally industry standard. Great to see a mom and pop holding their own against the big box stores in 2019.
Very helpful, and they do good work. very reasonable prices and they have good products/ service.
Recently had them build ap computer with mostly my parts. They did a great job, but some of my extra parts were not returned. I got my power cables, but not my extra hard drive screws, or SATA cables which was pquite annoying when trying to add my old computers storage drive.Though the service and build quality seem good, I paid priority ($130/hr) dropped it off noon Friday and didnt get it till 2pm Saturday. Seems a bit long for a 2 hour job.Ill be a customer in the future, Ill just keep a tighter rein on my extra parts and not be in so much of a hurry.
They are very skilled and knowledgeable as well as being good about keeping customers informed of whats going on. They do work under warranty and honor it with no fuss. When I brought something under warranty in one morning, they had it fixed by early afternoon.
I was impressed with the straightforward approach - my daughters Chromebook was bricked, and before starting anything, we talked about the possibilities and the potential costs against the cost of buying a new one. I ended up authorizing an hour of time to do diagnosis, and got lucky - the repair was a fairly simple one. Equally important, they contacted me almost exactly 24 hours after I took it in to let me know it was ready. Absolutely would go to them again!
Im happy I found this place. So extremely happy. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the store is fun to walk through, and Tonys hair is fantastic. I brought my computer in for a repair, and they were able to give a preliminary diagnosis of the issue within minutes. The prices for little odds and ends I need are comparable to Amazon and Monoprice as well. I dont have to wait multiple days to try and troubleshoot a thing I broke any more. I can just stop by here at lunch and that very evening be home to figure out to what degree a piece of electronics is broken, and how I manged to do it this time. Thats a special type of tragic joy that I didnt know I needed to be fast-forwarded.I intend to be a regular customer going forward. Heck yeah.UPDATE: Got my computer back five days sooner than expected and at about 35% of the projected cost. If I could leave six star reviews, I would. But I cant, so Im just going to put one here as a bonus: ★Thats better.
I came in to buy a laptop since my school one died. Tony had some refurbished ones and a new one that they really liked. It was just the right size for me, but a little slower than I would have liked. Lucky for me, they had upgrades for the RAM and the hard drive right there in the shop and theyre installing them without charging labor costs!Overall, very good customer service helping me get exactly what I needed and customizing the computer for my personal needs. Definitely will come here for any computer repairs or future purchases.
I am very happy with my new computer from Computer Alley. They have a small staff of smart people with high standards. Went above and beyond answering all my questions and configuring a difficult program.
Wow, what a great find! Not only is everyone I talked with on the phone very polite and knowledgeable, but the service I got on my computer today was awesome. My Mac works better than ever, and its an old one. Alex, who worked on my computer, answered all my questions and fixed everything above and beyond my expectations. Ill recommend Computer Alley to anyone I know whos looking for a store they can trust.
Super helpful employees, competitive pricing without the chain store wait times. Friendlier atmosphere and I always prefer to shop local!
I wanted to have a custom desktop PC assembled (that is, buy my own parts and have it assembled by a professional). I called around town and Computer Alley was the only place that would do this, and for a VERY reasonable price (they probably quoted me a lower price than they should have, based on the amount of work they did, but they stuck with the original quote). Tony gave me really helpful advice as I was still in the process of researching the parts I wanted. He didnt pressure me to buy the parts from him and made it clear that he was perfectly fine with me buying the parts online and having them only do the assembly. Overall, I felt I was in really good hands the entire time and my new PC is running like a beast. If I could give six stars, I would.
I had a laptop problem, so I stopped by Computer Alley. I am glad that I did, as this first experience with these folks was great. My first contact was Robert. He took the needed info in a convivial manner. He easily curbed my initial anxiety with his friendly approach. The technicians then contacted me to ask a couple of questions. They were cordial and good listeners. (They sidestepped a likely-fruitless step that others might have taken, just by listening to me.)Finally, one of the technicians (Alex) explained both the root cause of the problem and their fix. These guys are very good, and I recommend them without reservation.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great experience! Needed a replacement screw and was taken care of in 30 seconds flat.
I went here to buy a part and to ask about a broken computer. This place is awesome and has great staff. If you are in need of computer parts stop here and support a local business
I recently took my infested computer into Computer Alley where they completely renewed it. One would expect great work from such an established business. However, it is their professional, patient and friendly service that makes me give a rave review to this place. S. R. Beardsley
Very limited selection. I dont think they like walk in customers. Were not friendly. How do you call yourself a computer store and not carry power supplies. Good thing best buy is right down the road.
Quoted $600 for my computer two days later than estimated and offered $200, sold it to a friend for $500 the same day I got it backEDIT: The owner claims that they said the 25% cost up front, but I definitely dont recall being told that. Maybe the employee that had handled my computer forgot.I still wouldnt recommend selling your PC here because you could easily sell your computer for more than 25% of market value. Also they still were 2 days late on returning my PC with the quote.
I have never been there but i liked the store manager comment on the two stars review.... i work in retail and people sometimes think that everything is done with one click. From what you explained i know exactly how much time and effort your team spent trying to fix it using the best way.Good job
I cant say enough about this place. They helped my son build a computer and when above and beyond with their amazing customer service. I highly recommend Computer Alley. I will never go anywhere else.
I have had this service do everything from totally repair my computer to help me work a site and restart my frozen computer. They are always helpful, clear and patient with me. I have sent many of my friends there. Recommend them always.Angie( Ann Arbor)
Expert repair of my old AKAI MIDI sampler for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!
Their staff is friendly and they always fix the problem. Nothing incredible, just a solid repair shop that charges typical rates. Their parts for sale, though, are priced much higher than theyd be on amazon, making them valuable only really as a source for expertise.
I am writing this to express my great pleasure of doing business with Computer Alley. I called and spoke to Tony and asked him if he had a few minutes to answer a couple questions for me. Tony was very professional and had the experience to not only answer my questions, but to give me several options on how to take care of my concern with my wired/wireless system. He even had what i needed pulled and sitting at the store when i arrived which made for a fast and convenience experience. I will be back for all my computer needs.
I had an intermittent keyboard problem that I had taken to a competitor 4 times -- despite keeping my laptop a full week each time and charging a total of $285 for their non-fixes, they never repaired the problem. Computer Alley not only fixed it for 1-hours labor, but they had my computer back to me the next day. So glad I found them!
OK, you can get components cheaper on line, and you will likely find a wider array of products in box stores or via the web. But what you wont there is hands-on experience and advice with building and maintaining computers as well as sage advice on how and which components best work together at a reasonable and fair price. In other words, lots of intangibles that you wont get with the two sources above. And if it doesnt work out, they stand behind their work, swapping out components as needed or taking back items that wont work well. Added bonus: they accept and recycle old computer and monitor components. And if theyre not too busy, theyll chat with you about the latest in computer technology and future trends.
Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable computer repair. They diagnosed my computer problem quickly, offered some repair options, and got the job done quickly and effectively. Thanks!
By far the best computer shop Ive ever dealt with. The guys behind the counter are top notch. Thanks for many years of great service.
These guys are my go to when I have computer problems at work. Alex has been out to my shop many times, and I havent given him a problem he hasnt been able to figure out yet. They always come out quick and get me back up and running. I would recommend them to everyone. Thanks for your help!!
Excellent staff... its nice to know that I dont have to buy a new computer, every time my computer needs a little attention. Thats like buying new carpet every time it gets dirty right? Thank you to the staff for taking care of my problem without expecting me to buy the newest latest greatest item!
The staff at Computer Alley are very knowledgeable and helpful. They know how to build, troubleshoot and fix computers. They have built two fast CAD machines for me so far, and I have been very happy with the results. They were able to help me select hardware components which would work well together and they optimized the overall system for the amount of money in the budget. When some of the software that I loaded onto the machines had problems, Computer alley gave their full and immediate attention to helping me resolve the problems. These guys are great; light years ahead of the big box stores and, in my experience, they provide better service than the OEMs like Dell.
A good selection of computers and parts. Knowledgeable staff. My go-to shop.
Awesome staff and has always went the extra mile to take care of me when I need it!
Fantastic service, speedy help in dire situations, kindness to the technically challenged, what more could you ask? Thanks Guys!
I called with some complicated questions about external storage, backup, and transferring. Jason took the time to speak at length with me over the phone until I had a good understanding of what I needed to do. How rare is that today? And on a Friday afternoon no less. Thank you! I might have a Mac, but I can still buy external products from you and I promise to do so! :)
They guy at the counter was helpful and creative in finding the CPU fan that I needed for my computer. Best of all, he did not treat me like I did not know what I was talking about.
My go to place for computer repair and software questions. Friendly service by folks who dont make you feel like you should already know the answer
Ive come to rely on these people for help in learning solutions to compute issues I face. Because I buy my stuff there I dont mind calling for advice on technical issues that come up occasionally and they offer the advice freely. These people are knowledgeable on the state of computing and are therefore able to suggest cost-effective solutions. Over the years I have seen nearly zero staff turnover. Nick and Tony have been there as long as I have been visiting the store--almost ten years. Earlier I had been doing my shopping at a computer store in Ypsilanti but stopped going there when they told me to find a part I needed for a chassis they sold me by doing a google search. They just didnt have time for me. The folks at Computer Alley are dedicated to the craft.
Excellent service, wonderful and friendly staff. Devlin was a total boss and was super informative. Great prices as well. If you want a awesome store to buy pc components or have your pc serviced you will find it here.
A skilled local source for repairs and parts at competitive prices--I use them every chance I get.
I am so glad I found this place 2 years ago. Every purchase I made was very reasonably priced and the guys were always super helpful. Recently, when I went in to purchase a top of the line wi-fi antenna for an older model PC tower, the owner suggested that I use a $4 USB extender for the old passive antenna. He saved me $55. I cant say enough good things about this place and I love coming here.
Good selection and helpful staff. Rare to find competent computer shops in the age of big box stores.
I called today about a keyboard issue I had for my laptop. I thought it would be an easy fix (it looked like one), but apparently I didnt communicate very well and was told it would take at least an hour to fix, I probably wouldnt have it by the end of their work day, and it was gonna cost me $95. The gentleman who I was talking to (Tony maybe) told me to bring it on in and they could get a better idea of my problem. I immediately went in, showed them what had happened, and my hour-long, $95 fix turned into a two second one. Nick, who worked on my computer, fixed it on the spot and even showed me how to do it myself if it happened again. On top of that he didnt charge me a dime. Thank you Computer Alley for saving my time, money, and GPA! Will definitely be returning if needed.
Great service, very knowledged staff, good prices on stuff I upgraded. Will return and do recommend!
Super helpful and driven to get what I needed into my hands.
Absolutely Wonderful!!! I called before coming and since they were not too busy they were able to do the work while I waited. The customer service rep was very helpful in answering my questions and even solved a problem with my internet speed. What a guy :-) My upgraded ram works fantastic and I was even able to up grade my ethernet connection with a device they had in the store... saved me a big headache. I would recommend them to anyone looking to get their computer checked, upgraded etc. They have hard drives, ram, hdmi, other cables and so much more stuff.
They do great work. Very honest on computer issues.
This place is awesome. Very professional and kind people who work there.
The folks at Computer Alley helped me out with a crippling computer problem, and hardly charged me anything! They explained the issues very clearly and helpfully. Ill definitely be seeking their help next time my computer gives me trouble.
Ive taken my laptop to Computer Alley several times for repairs, and they always do a great job.
Average at best. Similar price and timing for repairs as big box stores and their competition. Nothing extraordinary here, but they do have an opportunity to improve 1.) Treat customers with compassion...we arent techies like you and dont even know if we are describing things correctly or asking the right questions, which is where we need the most guidance from you; 2.) Provide customers with repair status directly on your website via invoice number; 3.) Get away from saying we dont know how long it will take...figure it out as most repairs fall under two catagories...common or unique; 4.) Dont ever let a one week estimate become three or four weeks...ever; 5.) Call the customer with updates frequently...dont make them call you repeatadly; 6.) Offer tips and ideas for smooth re-starts after service; 7.) Start-up the customers PC when they pick it up to ensure they understand what was repaired and what else remains to be done (re-install software, security, etc); 8.) E-Mail a post-repair survey to obtain direct customer feedback; 9.) Attend some enterprenureal workshops to understand what else the competition does better...like all of the above). Good Luck.I might use them again.
Super helpful and knowledgable staff. Gave me good advice for how to build a PC
Nic Heinig is the best! He has been SO helpful to me on a number of occasions. He is knowledgeable, professional, pleasant, and has performed a few “miracles” on my behalf when it looked like there was no hope. We all know how frustrating and frightening it can be when your computer is not performing properly and deadlines loom. This place puts Best Buy Geek Squad to shame, hands-down, as well as AT&T’s technical support. Nic consistently goes above and beyond - and never disappoints. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this business if you seek excellent customer service combined with top-notch professionals who aim to please the customer as well an opportunity to purchase computers, parts, and other related gadgets and supplies. Computer Alley gets my vote EVERY TIME!!
Responded to emailed questions/concerns promptly and helpfully.
They had what I needed in a pinch...
My laptop would not startup propertly, It keep looping at loading the icons. I droped it off tuesday about noon and paid the priority rate to have it fixed. I was told it would be 2 hrs of tech time and would be next on the bench. (this made me belive it would be that day or the next) It took 4 days! There were no virus, no hardware problems. They backed up my data restored the computer to beging and put my data back. - that could have been done in 1 day easily. They could not upgrade to windows 10 - even though that is what they said we be faster & better. They can not say it wont happen again. They require you to provide a recovery disk, or charge $25 to have one made. Total cost was $215. And no work computer for 4 days. when I called for updates they were rude and had no info other than work on it. I wont be going back.
Helpful staff many parts available
Personalized service, locally-owned
Didnt have everything I was looking for, but they did have 90% of it.
Alex is great
