Great breakfast! Seasonal specials that are always delicious. A great selection of espresso drinks and freshly squeezed orange juice.
This place has been a staple for our family for years. The food is excellent, my personal favorite being the French connection breakfast sandwich. The staff are always friendly and efficient even during these difficult times when every retail place is having staffing problems. You can really tell that they treat their staff well. We also love the fun changing decorations and themed Sundays.
Northside grill is a funky diner with a great vibe and terrific coffee. The staff works harder than any group Ive encountered in this type of diner. I had the chili and a house salad and my wife had a BLT. The chili was good and the salad unimaginative but fresh. My wife said the BLT was tasty and fresh. We drank way too much coffee because it was so good. The choice was between regular and dark roast. Get the dark roast! The prices were reasonable and the place was clean. I noticed that some of the customers tipped lightly which concerned me. I think the waitstaff still suffering from the Covid shutdown and could use a boost.
Kind of a dive, but thats what makes it nice in the homogenous new Ann Arbor! Its Bohemian. Excellent breakfasts. Nice covered patio for distancing. If I lived in AA, Id be a regular!
First time there and honestly it was amazing. The food is spectacular and the service is unmatched. Love this place. Worth the wait!
Better than most they had plenty of seating and help
Service here is always great. Very generous portions as well. Classic diner experience. Definitely an Ann Arbor staple.
This is a small but quaint little place. The service was fast, and the food was awesome! Really interesting menu, with lots of unique options. Nice portions, and good pricing. I would definitely recommend coming here if your in the area. Small place as I said before so you may have a wait, but thats the only negative I have, if that even qualifies as one, awesome place!!!!
Always great to return to this comfy diner with friendly service. A variety of delicious not greasy, breakfast and lunch options, and they keep the coffee coming.
Classic Ann Arbor breakfast spot. Good food and service with some features that set it apart. These include two different brews of regular coffee plus decaf and healthier pancake options like oat bran blueberry with real blueberries mixed into the batter. Yummy!
Nice little place food really good service is fast but still really well prepared. Be prepared for a little wait not much seating but its a quick sit eat done style diner.
Honestly the food was okay. Nothing out of the ordinary. My biggest complaint was how they handled mask wearing. Don’t get me wrong, I understand wearing masks and did so the entire time they were required. I even understand (although don’t agree with) that as a private business they can ask customers to wear masks even after the mandate ends. However, they acted as though anyone walking in without a mask was bringing in the plague. The one lady literally threw her hands in the area around a senior man who didn’t have a mask on and yelled at him “SIR SIR I NEED YOU TO LEAVE.” The guests are the ones supposed to make a scene - not the staff. They are supposed to deescalate. She made a small environment incredibly uncomfortable. Any one who got up without a mask on was actually yelled at, sometimes across the small room. I get it, people need to wear masks as you have asked them in your facility. But the way it was handled was horrible and the reason my husband and I ate our lunch in basic silence because the air in the room was so unpleasant. Find a better way to handle anti-maskers. The world is full of them. Especially towards the end of the pandemic, there has got to be a better, more subtle way to handle things without making everyone in the restaurant uncomfortable.
I do not live in the area. I come to Ann Arbor often on business. When in town, this is where I come for breakfast. So after years of eaten here, I realized I never left a review. First off the staff is super friendly. Please note that Northside Grill is not that large so during peak times you may have to wait. I suggest you wait. I have never had a bad meal here and neither will you.
Very popular place but the wait was short. The food was great! Service was perfect, friendly server and staff! Great place to go if you havent already!
Enjoy eating here as the quaint and cozy environment as well as the staff are always inviting. The food never disappoints. The dishes are ample as well as delicious. They have traditional American as well as some German dishes. The ingredients used are locally sourced so they are always fresh. Unique coffees are not uncommon here. They do require masks to enter and are practicing social distancing when dinning in as such seating is limited so arrive early and not during peak hours.
Came in from out of town.Friendly greeter informed and maintained social distance. Food ordered came quick.Hot and fresh. Our server he did a great job.Bathroom cleanThey have 2 eating areas inside and out. They do not due military discounts. Like other places.Given them anyway.Great JobBJ
I enjoyed my eating experience at Northside Grii, I ordered a blueberry pancakes, and link sausage and my friend had the breakfast burrito, it was very delicious. The restaurant is quaint and very popular, who have to wait for twenty to thirty minutes for a table, but it well worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and helpful, looking forward to returning soon.☺
Sandwiches are awesome! I go there every year for the birthday deal. Glad this gem survived COVID!
I really like this place. Old school diner energy with a really tasty menu. Theyre not messing around with the bottomless coffee either. Your cup will stay full the whole time!
Cute and cozy family friendly dine-in restaurant! Food was really good! Satisfied my pickiest eaters. The Bread from Michigan Bread Company was phenomenal! Will definitely make this a favorite spot!
Great service and great food! I had potato pancakes and they were authentic! definitely will be back when in the area
Food was okay, definitely not worth the price. 3 of the 4 employees we came into contact with were rude and disrespectful one of whom was the owner who harassed us to the point we felt the need to get our food to go and not finish our meal there. The way the owner conducted himself around us was very unprofessional and the situation should have been handled differently. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Service was poor. I had high hopes but was extremely disappointed.
It was pretty good. If you like breakfast food you will like this place! Good prices for a good amount of food. Would go again.
Awesome 1940s/1950s atmosphere with Excellent food!Fantastic place for breakfast and lunch!
Reminds me of a diner back in my hometown, but the coffee is better here! I dont know what they did to their orange juice, but I have never had a better glass than the 2 I had here. Only wish I got more hashbrowns when I ordered a side of hashbrowns, but that might be a littke gluttonous of me. Great place.
Great food. Nice for out of towners. Little bit of a wait, but well worth it.
Great food! Great service! We will be back soon!
Excellent food. Spectacular service. Awesome!!
Drove a half an hour to wait outside in the hot sun for an hour. We were beeped instead of calling us in, they took another group that just came in. Their explanation was we made a mistake and brought in the wrong people. We waited another 20 minutes and gave up because they didnt know how much longer it would be. Not very good customer service.
Good food and drink. Just loud. Be back soon.
Great food. Great service. I usually stop by here when I am in the area for medical appointments at UM Hospital. Everything is made from scratch and a lot of items are locally sourced. Highly recommend! 👍
A tiny place with a lot to offer. Great food and great people.
Great food. Friendly environment. Even sat with the owner and his family. Did I mention the food was great🤔
Go to place for diner in Ann Arbor. They made their special breakfast tasty. My favorite would be their French Connection, the cinnamon toast with syrup is superb. Plus the ham and cheddar on it, I need to have it now.Currently they are having outdoor seating, so if you are worried about eating in at a enclosed area you can still come!
We used to come here before the pandemic all the time, during the pandemic they seemed to become more and more rude. Probably just surviving. Today my daughter became fussy at the end of the meal and they asked us to leave. Service and food quality is gone down hill. Maybe they were just stressed because the place was busy. But they still deserve the poor review, and we will not be returning.
My favorite restaurant. I go here at least once a month. I recommend the Georgia Reuben with fries. They have great lunch foods, although well known for their breakfast items. I also love their coffee. Their thin mint latte is my favorite.
Decent middle eastern food to be so far removed from Detroits massive middle eastern population. It will suffice your taste buds for good lamb and lentil soup. Not great and not bad. Decent.
Too expensive. Almost $30 for simple breakfast for two... My farmers omelette was made fast and was hot but the onions and green peppers were virtually uncooked and raw, barely any meat and cheese. If this is the best breakfast in Washtenaw Co. I would be sad, fortunately it is not. The wait staff was nice and fast.
Right across the street from Kellogg Eye Center. Blueberry muffins are great, loaded with berries. I didnt like their sausage. It was very greasy. The bacon was good coffee was above average. Cost was reasonable.
Excellent food and a fun, little atmosphere in the patio!! Very pleasant place!
The food here is amazing! My favorite is the Salmon Burger. It forgot what it was called... Jimmy Salmon...? Anyways, the pancakes are so delicious as well! The only thing is the decaf coffee doesn’t taste the best. I️ guess it is tricky to get good decaf coffee... too bad that I️ cannot drink normal coffee.
Good grilled food. Friendly service.
Nice enough food, but would have appreciated if theyd been accommodating in terms of seating. Our group had to separate for no good reason, seems the management is quite in-flexible to customer requests.
Not kid friendly. Considering 3 people in a row came over to tell us that our 2 year old had to wear a mask and not get up is unprofessional. We understand the mask mandate but to be rude to our children was not okay in my eyes. Also they do not have booster seats or kid menus yet had crayons and coloring pictures. Food was good for the price. WILL NOT BE RETURNING. First time was terrible.
Such a nice place for breakfast! Awesome service and food!
Great little establishment. They are very covid conscious, super clean, and extremely friendly. The food was great too. Just wish they had eggs Benedict on the menu.
Excellent lunch, great staff and service, delicious food and not too expensive.
Food is great. Coffee fresh. Keep it up.
First time going, was some of the best food ive ever had. Service was fantastic, atmosphere was wonderful.
The food is fabulous, homemade, not fussy, with great flavors and ingredients in a down home welcoming atmosphere. Comfort food heaven. They have wonderful coffee and espresso drinks. I loved how seriously they took covid precautions. The place was immaculate. Service was fast, friendly and knowledgeable.
Split our party to two different tables across the restaurant from each other. 30 seconds after sitting down, the table directly behind our friends opened up. We went to move but the 16 year old manager wouldn’t let us move even though we had literally just sat down seconds earlier. Ridiculous.
Nitro Skillet is the bomb diggity. Good service. Will definitely be back!
I drive past the restaurant regularly and I had an opportunity to get breakfast there. I ordered the pancakes, I don’t understand how something golden brown could be so hard to cut into. My eggs had more cheese than eggs. I felt like I received someone’s rejected order. This was not a very good experience.
Fast service, great food and amazing coffee !
Apparently cdc guidelines dont mean anything to this establishment. Fully vaccinated and forced to mask up to walk 11 feet to my table.
Found this little place on Google Maps and am very pleased I did! Tasty breakfast and attentive service. I’ll be back next time I am in Ann Arbor.
Excellent service and good food..Will come again
I ordered take out and it was my first time here. Not only was the food excellent, the service was awesome! The guy who took my order wanted to make sure everything was perfectly fresh so he timed it accordingly for my pick up...he apologized for me having to wait a FEW minutes but I was actually a bit earlier than I told him I would be. Ill definitely be back.
Very good food, good portions with great service
Plastered all over the website - ‘take out until 2pm’. However, there is no take out on Friday Saturday or Sunday.
Very good food and wonderful staff
Simple ingredients prepared exceedingly well. One of the best cups of coffee Ive had in a while. Worth the visit. I will be back.
Worst place for breakfast! The bacon was burnt. The hashbrowns were hard and cold. The coffee was terrible. But, the worst part was the service. Rude. I will never come back. One star, because it will not let me leave no stars!
Masks mandatory! Staff was rude, food was mediocre and overpriced. We were Given a piece of paper to fill out with our name/phone number for the health department, covid 19 tracking. I wish someone would come up with a vaccine to . oh wait… bottom line- don’t waste your time or money.
Food was fine. I wasnt blown away by my meal, but it fit the bill.
Over priced average food...at best. The servers also looked like just rolled out of bed. Dont waste your time goin here.
Taste of the food was excellent, but a bit unhealthy with potato and cheese
Hands down my favorite breakfast joint in AA. My wife and I have been going there for over 10 years, and we absolutely love it. My fave is the hobo skillet.
Good Food - Great Service
Our mom loves this restaurant .
Great breakfast menu.
Northside never disappoints. I rate my breakfast diners based on the quality of their sausage gravy and they make the best in the area by far. I recommend the country scramble. They’re doing a great job keeping everybody safe during COVID and I’ve enjoyed eating on their patio and getting takeout in the last few weeks. Please support this business during tough times!
I had one of the best breakfasts here. I had the country scramble, which was very good, and filling, also fresh squeezed OJ topped it off. Fair prices and courteous staff. I will eat here again when working in the area.
Great breakfast food at a moderate price
It was my first time, the food was good
Good food, great service, but... whooweee! Prices are gonna get ya!
Always delicious!
This is supposed to be a good spot but I and my fellow breakfast attendees were not impressed. Specifically the huevos rancheros were lackluster - basically a refried bean burrito with some eggs and salsa on top. The coffee felt like it didn’t have much caffeine in it as well. The pancakes were fine but, let’s be honest, it’s not hard to make normal pancakes (even Denny’s can do this 24hrs a day). The main issue here is the alleged reputation and quality of Northside, which results in high expectations and corresponding disappointment when they’re not met with amazing food. Other menu items might be fine, but you never know.
Delicious food, I highly recommend!!
Great breakfast, very good staff, amazing atmosphere.
Food was great and service was better!
