Christian B. helped me pick out a watch for my cousin, who recently had a birthday. Christian asked me questions to help me find watch faces that I may enjoy, but he also gave me space when I needed it (I FaceTimed my cousin at some point to show him some options). When I was ready to make the purchase, he was so nice and attentive throughout it all. I wanted the band personalized and ultimately wanted the watch mailed to AZ. Christian made it all happen and my cousin got his watch within three days of me purchasing it, on a Sunday! 10/10 experience.
While I havent purchased any of the lovely goods on the main floor (which are gorgeous), I have visited the super hip coffee shop on the lower level. You cant go wrong with the awesome vibe created by the low lighting, exposed brick and rock walls, and tunes being spun on the turntable (rap my first visit, jazz my second) combined with the most delicious Chai latte Ive ever tasted. They even have wifi so you can be productive while at the same time feeling oh so cool. My only complaint is there is no food and Im hungry!
Nice selection of products, but be prepared with your wallet as the prices are not exactly inexpensive. The notebooks are very lovely and in addition to being able to select different sizes and colours, you can also choose based on what kind of paper you prefer (ruled, grid, blank, etc.)Bonus: the notebook embossing is free with purchase, and comes in three different colours (gold, silver, and rose gold, I believe).
Good experience Simon took good care of me 5 stars for Simon, I Would have given 5 stars overall but I needed a battery replacement in my wifes watch and they required 2 hrs. Bummer..
Great experience with this store. Justin was a tremendous help. Very pleased with my purchase and experience here.
It was a phenomenal experience to have my shinola watch strap replaced. I wasn’t sure about the tone, texture or size. Paige was thorough with her explanation and fitting of my new largo tan leather strap. Thanks, Shinola
Shopping at Shinola-Ann Arbor was a 5-star experience! I was immediately greeted upon walking in the door by multiple staff. Stephanie guided me through the process of talking through watches I had found online on the Shinola website, but the internet cannot do these watches justice. I purchased a watch I hadnt considered before seeing at the store. I wanted to switch out the band though you have to buy the watch as-is before switching out the band. There were 2 other Associates who were as attentive as Stephanie in swapping out bands so I could try on the watch with the new color wristband. We tried several bands before coming to a selection. I never felt rushed or pushed to make a purchase and the staff gave me plenty of space to dig in and try on as many watches as I liked. All-in-all a fantastic experience that made me feel extremely confidant and happy about my purchase. When I make my next Shinola purchase I will be coming to this location again due to the customer experience, attention from staff, and cleanliness of the store.
Beautiful store in a fantastic location. The only problem I have with Shinola is the fact that they don’t care for their products/packaging with the much detail. When I bought my watch and opened it up, the watch was sideways in the box, and after getting the band fitted for me, the watch was full of scratches. I love their products, but I would recommend paying more attention to detail and handling the inventory with more care to reflect the price of these items.
Horrible start to finish. I purchased a $1000 watch for my mother for her birthday. The first day she wore it, the watch leaked in shower. The chronograph also stopped working. Their watches have cheap garbage movements in aesthetically pleasing cases. After asking the store for a replacement I was told I would have to send the watch in, nothing could be done in the store, also it was possible the maintenance fee might be waved depending on the damage. So what do you get for purchasing a $1000 watch form Signola terrible customer service and a watch that is inferior in quality to one bought at the Walmart jewelry counter.
Cool watches and other items.
Not only are the watches stunningly beautiful, the staff was beyond amazing. Everyone greeted us with kindness and Alexa worked with us the whole time to ensure that we found our perfect watch. She helped us change the bands, tell us how customization works, and informed us on all the benefits of the watch. I love my new watch and somebody please give Alexa a raise
Great store on one of the nicest corners in Ann Arbor. I love checking out the new items and leather goods. I have interacted with many staff members and am as impressed by their customer service as I am by their products. Special shout out to Paige who blows me away by remembering my name after just a handful of interactions.
Great if youre looking for something understated. Very friendly staff! I felt right at home.
I’m writing this review from inside the cafe. I have wanted a shinola for a long time now I have yet to pull the trigger but came in for some informative. I was greeted by a super friendly staff David offered coffee and gave me a tour of the store. He answered my questions and expanded my knowledge about the watches, shinola, and the local businesses. I will definitely be back to buy my watch with David. I would highly recommend you step in. P.S. if you have the chance go downstairs and check out the cafe!
I never write reviews, but I just had to let the world know how awesome this store is. Everyone who works there takes great care of you, and they work so well as a team. The coffee shop in the basement is also a really nice place to get work done.
Great service, Paige was awesome
This is my second and my last bad customer service experience with Shinola. I ordered a gift over the phone through the Ann Arbor store. I was promised it would arrive the next day and I would receive an email with the receipt for my order. I never received the email but I did see a charge on my card. I was told I would receive a call the next day when my item arrived. I never received that call. I called at 3 oclock and was told they were too busy and they would have to call me back. I then text message one of the workers there who used his cell phone to call me the day before. I told him that I was on my way to the store to pick up the item. He immediately called me and told me that the item would not arrive in time and that I really did not need to come to the store. I was about to order this item online and it was guaranteed next-day delivery but when I called the store I was told oh no problem well be able to get it the next day too. Obviously that did not happen. They told me it would be in Monday and it was coming from California. And also they told me that it was a miscommunication with FedEx that it did not arrive on time. Its totally unacceptable to screw up an order and then ignore the customer and not tell them the truth. Now we are missing a Mothers Day gift that I was told would be at the store on Saturday.Im done with Shinola now. They want to be a premium good store but they totally lack the customer service to get that that. They are riding the cool factor of their brand.
Mocha from the cafe downstairs is truly delicious. You can taste the quality of the chocolate and espresso they use, and the record player is a nice touch.
Very cool store with excellent iPhone cases and notebooks. Youll pay top dollar for the goods but youre getting top-quality goods. Coffee shop inside has excellent coffee and the basement offers a nice lounging area for meetings and remote work.
Excellent staff, exceptional quality leather goods, lovely watches and accessories, presented in a stylish environment with an industrial sensibility. All of it Made in Detroit. A super shopping experience. More evidence that Detroit is on the way back. Hooray!
Helpful staff. Cafe downstairs is a real cool place to chill out.
Staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Great quality products. Plus, free monogramming! Coffee is delicious and the ambience is calming. I felt weirdly at home here!!!
If going to buy a Shinola watch - this is the place to go. Aaron and his staff are dedicated to customer service and satisfaction and will go the extra mile to assure youre completely happy with your investment, both today and tomorrow. Youre getting very knowledgeable support and guidance with all aspects of the watch and its accessories.I wouldnt buy from anywhere else.
Always excellent service at this location. Whether browsing or purchasing, the staff is always eager to be helpful and answer any questions with no pressure.
I have never been treated so poorly at such a nice store. After buying two nice journals the staff informed me that I could have ANYTHING embossed on the cover they wrote down the words and foil they recommended. Not only were the characters they suggested not allowed but the black foil they suggested was not available in the store. The person doing the stamping seemed to be annoyed with me for the miscommunication.
Had a wonderful experience, great store. Eche was extremely knowledgeable very helpful I highly recommend him and the store. Happy to support Detroit and the USA. What a great watch
The staff here is welcoming and happy to talk to you at length about the products. Shinola has generated mixed feelings but in general its a good store. Commonwealth Coffee is also a great little place to grab a drink and a muffin.
I love Shinolas, but I was pretty disappointed with the Ann Arbor store when we stopped in to buy a watch, and get mine repaired. Every time we asked about a particular model for my wife, or a watchband, they told us they dont stock that kind-- or they were out of stock, and to go to the Shinola Outlet. You would think that if they wanted to make a sale, they would have easy access to a monitor to order it for us or to show us similar models. We then went downstairs to buy some cookies, and the case was filled with fruit-flies (not 1 or 2, but 12-15). I realize bugs are a part of a business, but it doesnt take much to remove the pastries and kill the flies overnight (try an apple cider vinegar trap...it works). Instead the guy behind the counter seemed fine with them as he reached for the cookies and the flies buzzed around, and we declined them. It was gross. We ended up not buying a watch or cookies. Shinola...you need to step it up.
Service was excellent. Enjoyed my conversation with the staff there. Wasnt pushy at all. Extremely knowledgeable about the product and so friendly!!
Nothing in stock. 2 weeks before Christmas they have no clocks, no key fobs, most journals are sold out too. Really bad planning for a retail store at Christmas.
Beautiful products, great location, great store design, helpful staff, and (of course) extremely high prices for most of the stock. Its a luxury store, so be prepared for sticker shock!
I wouldnt recommend anyone shop at this location. Had several employees walk around my wife and I several times without even a look in our direction let alone someone offer some help. I guess they didnt want to sell anything today.
Always great service. Very knowledgeable staff; and a very nice coffee shop downstairs.
Paige and Christian helped us today and did an over the top job with customer service carried our bags out to the car could not ask for anything more!! fantastic day!
Great place! The staff is fantastic and the store looks incredible. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the Ann Arbor area.
I had the pleasure of meeting Vassie Knott who gave my wife and I an excellent experience. His level of customer service is an example of what makes Shinola one of the best shops in the state. We will continue to buy from here!
I went in to the store with a Shinola watch that was not working due to a dead battery. Tommy greeted me as soon as I walked in amd I told him what was going on with my watch. He checked it out and confirmed it was due to a dead battery. He told me they do not replace them onsite and are sent to Detroit. So there is a turn around time, which would be longer than usual right now due to the holiday season. He directed me to Schalander and Sons walking distance down the road and it was what the recommended for same day replacement at a cheaper price. As is well and I got the support I needed.
I was very disaapointed. I love shinola and support them as a detroiter whenever i can. I arrived at the Ann Arbor store at 6:25pm (35 minutes before closing) on Saturday march 16,2019 only to find the store closed for no apparent reason. No sign, no note on the door, just a locked door and the lights turned off. It seemed strange that corporate would allow that but the worst part is i was already sold on purchasing two timepieces and a clock and now feel like nobody respected my time and im now second guessing my pending purchase at least at this store anyway.
Stumbled upon this store and Page has been such a great individual to work with. Thanks for the coffee too!!
Staff couldnt be nicer and more helpful.
Upscale spot with minimalist decor that specializes in craft made leather goods, cycles and other niche items. Also serves a good cup of joe.
Beautiful high quality products. Friendly staff. Nice to come to a high end shop that isnt high pressure!
What a disappointment! So excited about a new iPhone case from my husband- within an hour and first steps from my house I dropped my phone and it shattered. This fell on the corner that was supposedly protected. False advertising...perhaps remove your claim of safety from product description. Then fix your customer service. Tried to return within 90 days and was advised I need original form of payment...huh, thats not printed anywhere. awesome, glad I wasted my time and gas to visit this location.
Great service with tremendous American products
Very beautiful store with fantastic products. The only downside of it is that they do not help people adjust their watch bands if they are not sold in this store.
Poor
They provide customized note book (similar to Moleskine) but with additional service of engraving beautiful golden/silver/brass letters on. And its price is fair, compared to Moleskines. The customising service is free. Their staffs are also friendly and willing to introduce. A good choice for special gifts for good friends.
Cool store. Friendly service. Expensive.
The Runwell is a bargain. With a Waterford frame and Shimano Alfine 11-speed internal hub.For $3000.00 you could not build a better bike.
Expensive, but cool local made clothes, accessories and jewelry. A rich hipsters heaven.
Beautiful watches, leather products and bicycles, all made in Detroit. The staff is very friendly as well.
Great vibe and awesome watches and leather bag selections
