We highly recommend Maryland Wood Countertops! We couldn’t be happier with the service and craftsmanship offered by this company. I am very impressed how smooth and fast the entire process ran. When we couldn’t find a table that could fit a corner (dead) space in our home, we contacted Maryland Wood Countertops and spoke with Chris about creating a custom table. Chris patiently helped us select the type of wood for the project. Afterwards, he sent us an estimate that included site visits for measuring and installation. We were equally impressed with Paul, who drove all the way to Northern VA to survey the space and provide his recommendations for the table. After his visit, we received a CAD drawing of the final project for our approval. When the table was installed, the team that arrived took great care installing it and made sure it was stable. We look forward to ordering more from them in the future.Attached are photos of the fallen black walnut table with live edge and waterfall, along with three floating shelves that Maryland Wood Countertops created.
Awesome service! The guys at OE Custom were super welcoming when we first came to them about making a table for us. My wife and I were given a impromptu tour by the owner when we came to visit and inquire about a table. He was EXTREMELY informative about the process of making our table and he described the variety of wood we had to chose from in detail so that we could make an informed decision that would help our vision become a reality. The artistry and care they put behind the table they made for us was well worth the price. Could not recommend these guys enough!
Look no further. These countertops are the best. The quality/craftsmanship is exceptional. Your kitchen deserves these counters. You deserve these counters. The customer service is beyond compare. Stop shopping around, pick up the phone, and schedule an appointment immediately. You will not be disappointed!
I cant recommend Paul, Chris and the whole team at OE enough. I came to them right before the pandemic for a custom top for our island in a reclaimed oak. Even with the shut down and unknown elements of if their business would be able to function at the same pace, they came through with the slab on time for our renovation. And its stunning! I was worried (and so was my husband) that wood wouldnt be the best choice for our family of 5 with young kids, but it is holding up beautifully and suits our house in the woods in a unique way. It is the center of our home
Beautiful! The experience from start to finish was professional and friendly. The gentlemen of OE Custom did a fantastic job! We enjoyed touring the facility, learning about the process and picking our piece. Placing our order, the customer service was stellar. And the installation easy. The countertop is a perfect finish to our new kitchen. Thank you!
OE Custom was absolutely wonderful to work with. Professional, timely, and created an island counter that is beautiful! Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for the best in the business!
We absolutely love the custom wood island top in our kitchen. The end product exceeded our expectations. The quality and craftsmanship definitely shows. We will be recommending OE custom/Maryland wood countertops anytime the opportunity arises.
OE Custom & Maryland Wood Countertops is a woodshop in a class all its own! They have created a very unique and sustainable business model by reclaiming locally felled trees otherwise destine for the mulch pile and transforms them into beautiful furniture and countertops. They’re ability to saw, kiln dry, and fabricate with expert craftsmanship really sets them apart from the competition. As a professional furniture designer with nearly two decades of experience I can honestly say the team at OE Custom and Maryland Wood Countertops is one of the best woodshops and sawmills in the country!
These guys are pros.As we worked with a contractor to design our basement bar, we knew that we wanted the actual bar-top to be something special. Our designer pointed us to OE Custom, and were glad she did. From the moment we met with Paul in the showroom, all the way up to installation, they treated us with top-notch customer service. They meticulously measured and provided design feedback before going to work on cutting everything we needed. The installation was done perfectly. We couldnt be happier with our countertops, floating shelves, and--most importantly--the beautiful live-edge black walnut bar-top. Even when it becomes ok to go to a real bar, Ill probably just opt to stay down in my basement. Thanks, OE Custom!
We LOVE our reclaimed wood counter top for our island. It is one of our favorite parts of our renovated house! The OE Custom team was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process and installation was a breeze. You can tell that the team is passionate about what they do and the products they provide - were fortunate to have found them. Thank you!
We were building a house and decided to go with a butcher block top for our kitchen island that also contained the range. We met with Paul and he went over all the pros and cons of the different types of wood, as well as the support system for an overhang for seating, and we settled on the locally sourced Maryland walnut.Once the island was installed it completely made the room. OE customs ensured the perfect fit, that everything was level, and it looks phenomenal. It is definitely the one piece in our house that gets the most comments.OE Custom does fantastic work, in a timely manner, with excellent quality control. We will definitely make recommend them and use them in the future for other projects.
The team at Maryland Wood Countertops is knowledgeable and easy to work with. They provided our customers with an absolutely stunning mahogany countertop. In addition, they delivered the butcherblock on time in excellent condition as expected. OHanlon Kitchens Highly recommends Maryland Wood countertops and OE Custom for their quality artistry.
OE Custom is the best wood shop you will find. In our house they have constructed box beams, a fireplace mantle, a sliding barn door, a 136” reclaimed wood island, and a 144” black walnut table. The craftsmanship is unbelievable and they are great to work with.
Maryland Wood Countertops are true craftsman and the work is fantastic. We are in love with the Black Walnut island countertop we had the team build and all of the unique aspects of the wood that are visible. If you are thinking about going with a cheaper online or big box store option for your butcher block countertops, DONT DO IT!Throughout the design and sales process, Paul was great, helpful and informative with no pressure. It does help to go to the shop to see the various types of wood, finish, etc. They had some amazing live-edge samples, but we were going for something more standard.During our project there was a dimension mix up that was a fault of our cabinet contractor. Paul helped us to work through our options and the team was able to fix the already manufactured countertop as if it had never happened. I cannot overstate the quality of the work and the degree to which they stand by their product. This countertop is the centerpiece of our kitchen. We love it and use it everyday! The team also makes custom tables and other furniture, so we may be going back for more!
I appreciate the sales associates, Chris F., attention to detail when responding to my questions, regarding his estimate. His estimate and responses were prompt and easy to understand. Very helpful and personable! I have not purchased their countertops, yet, but from the beginning they were wonderful.
You only need to enter to their shop, and youll realize the creativity and high quality these guys demonstrate. Then, when you place your order and work with them, you realize how great Chris and Paul are. Professionals who are really passionate about what they do and how it looks. We made our kitchen countertop at Maryland Wood few months ago. It came out absolutely amazing, accurate and just beautiful!Worth every penny – Excellent quality and superior service.
I never though I could get a large wooden slab (15 inches by 8 ft) to serve as a counter top, but OE Custom makes them. A great product crafted perfectly to fit my need with the template I made (or they will make). I though theyd just use glued wood - - but no - - they have 6 ft by 10 ft tree slabs to chose from.It took us awhile to find the right species - - we chose Locust because it finished in the correct color to match our kitchen.OE Custom usually does big jobs (whole kitchens) with products that rival granite, but are real wood slabs. Cant thank them enough for the wonderful craftsmanship. Ken and Susan
We are longtime customers of OE custom. The craftsmanship is unbelievable.. the pieces we have gotten from them are pieces of artwork and conversations pieces. A tree we had removed from our yard is going to be converted by OE into our future countertop. Worth every bit of the cost
Were very happy with our custom island top, and we had a good experience working with Paul. He took the time to talk through options with us, and we picked out a beautiful piece of red elm. Its the centerpiece of our kitchen. Id definitely recommend OE Custom to anyone looking for an expertly crafted wood countertop.
My custom made 24 foot wood counter top looks beautiful.
From start to finish - top notch service and beyond top notch product! Our island countertop is stunning to look at and completely functional (you don’t have to baby it because it’s wood)—Just like they assured me it would be. Delivery and install team were very professional, friendly and precise.
We could not be more delighted with our beautiful hickory island counter top and hand made steel and hickory table. We are grateful to Paul and the kind folks at Maryland Wood Countertop for their patience, attention to detail and quality, and creative expertise. Five big stars!
The wood here is unique and beautiful. They do high quality work. I love to support local businesses. However, I wanted to let others know, if you’re looking for a smaller project (like a wood countertop for a bathroom vanity in my case), this is probably not the place for you. When I came to the shop, the owner almost immediately told me he doesn’t usually sell anything for less than $1,000. It’s clear he is not interested in cutting anything down for you because he prefers to save wood for big projects (understandable). I politely asked if he could check to see if there were any scraps I could buy (I would have paid up to $400 for a small slab that I loved) and he did end up finding a couple of options but they weren’t what I was looking for. After showing me a small piece of maple that had a GIANT hole in the middle, he said he was just going to burn that piece. Although it wouldn’t have worked for my vanity, I could have had fun with it so I asked if I could take it instead of him burning it, and he replied, “Ha!!! I don’t give anything away! I’d rather BURN it than give it to you for free.” I understand his philosophy, but I was taken aback by his harsh tone. He just came across to me as very arrogant. Bottom line: I think they’d be great for people who have lots of money to spend or have a big project, but I’d stay away if you just have a small project.
I purchased a dining room table from them a few months ago after I finally decided what I was doing with my dining room addition. They were on the higher end of my budget, but after I saw the finished table for the first time I knew it was worth it. They use reclaimed trees from Maryland, and mine came from Catonsville apparently, which is where I grew up! I would very much recommend them for any kind of large custom wood project.
Love OE custom. Im waiting patiently for my new piece to show off what they can do. Its worth the price if you want something totally unique and they made the process super easy and simple.
Husband and I just got a quote for custom bar! This shop is very professional and were super helpful. Definitely not a cheap project, but we are used to less custom designs. Totally worth the price for a custom piece. Excited to see our finished project!
I have used Maryland Wood Countertops for 2 different projects for home and I love the workmanship. In both cases it was exactly what I wanted. They are professional, easy to work with, and talented.
Working with Paul and this company was a great experience. Paul designed a king size bed with a live edge headboard that is truly unique. I couldnt be happier with the way it turned out.
These guys are experts in wooden countertops! I had a unique problem, a narrow beach condo that did not allow for a dining table and chairs..their solution was a floating bar along one wall with a live edge that ended up looking like recycled drift wood, but a hella of lot more attractive! It’s the focal point of the whole condo. These guys, suggested, and designed the bar top...it is beautiful!! I don’t normally make recommendations, however in this case I was so impressed with the result that I highly recommend that anyone considering a wooden counter of any size, shape, and design...these guys are the team to trust!
We are so pleased with our beautiful bar tops! The cost was double what granite would have been, and it was absolutely worth it! The tops are stunning and the staff was great to work with.
OE was great to work with. They recomended the correct way to build & install the walnut countertops to look seamless and flow beautifully in our impossible Baltimore City kitchen. I love the way this looks in our house. Thank you guys!
Our new hickory kitchen countertop was installed today! It is amazing! From the initial visit to the shop in Arbutus to the installation, every step of the way has been professional and without surprises. The countertop is just gorgeous and the price ended up being absolutely comparable to quarts, but what a unique alternative!
My wife and I discovered OE Custom while looking for countertops for the perimeter of a kitchen renovation. While we were committed to a marble top for the island, we had set our hearts on wood for the rest of the countertops not only for aesthetic reasons but to compliment the existing structure of a house originally built in the 1930s.Chris at OECustom was excellent to work with and introduced us to the kinds of work OECustom has performed in the past. He was an incredible first-touch representative for the organization. We visited the OECustom show room on a weekend and met with Paul who walked us through the various types of lumber available as well as discussed his vision for urban forestry with a low environmental impact. We ended up deciding on face grain walnut for an L shaped portion of countertop to enclose a range as well as a farm house apron sink. When it came to measure the existing cabinets, Paul arrived on-time and took detailed measurements. It took approximately 4 weeks for the fabrication of the pieces, but that included the holidays at the end of year. When it came time for delivery, Mike and his team arrived when they said they would, installed the countertops in short order and spent a considerable and appreciated amount of time ensuring they fit properly. We cant say enough about how gorgeous the counters are. Natural defects in the lumber such as checking or knots were stabilized with clear epoxy and sanded flush making for interesting spots of character that you discover only when you really inspect the pieces. People who visit the kitchen cant help but run their fingers across the wood countertops. During the renovation, every crafts-person on site was in awe of the quality and beauty of the final product. If youre considering wood countertops, Im not sure you can find a better organization with whom to work.
We LOVE our new island countertop. Working with Paul and his team was a fantastic experience. The attention to detail and quality surpassed our expectations. These guys work with tree companies to salvage logs from becoming mulch or firewood. We have a very unique product that blows everyone away when they see it. Definitely the center piece of our kitchen. Thank you very much Paul and the Maryland Wood Countertop team!
Premium work. Professional with great customer care. Walked us through step by step as well as providing expert advice beyond just the counter-top. Could not ask for a better result or experience.
Paul and his team built me some of the nicest reclaimed wood counter tops I have ever seen. The quality and craftsmanship that Maryland Wood Countertops puts into its products is second to none. I would recommend his services to anyone.
MWC/OEC have been an exceptional company to work with and buy from. Their knowledge of wood species is 2nd to none. The customer service is in a class of its own, from the owners to the guys in the shop. The multiple employees Ive spoken to have been attentive and very welcoming. Their products are true craftsman and no detail is every overlooked. I would recommend them to anyone looking at large scale or small scale wood for their home. Your expectations will be exceeded!
Great craftsmanship and finished product. The Team is easy to work with and extremely knowledgeable!!
I had always wanted wood countertops but had heard that they took a lot of maintenance. Then I learned from Paul that unless you want to use your counter as a cutting board, they can put a sealer on that is very durable and requires practically no maintenance. So I got counters made of pine recycled from Baltimore row houses. They are gorgeous. Pauls work is meticulous and he is super easy to deal with. Very happy with the whole experience and the end product.
We got end grain hickory and love it! High quality product and great to deal with. Money well spent.
Paul and his team produce a beautiful product. A solid mahogany countertop is now the best looking - and best performing - feature in my kitchen.
I worked with Paul and his team at MWC on a large custom island top with the goal if it being nice to look at and functional as I wanted a very large working surface versus something I needed to put a cutting board on to work. An additional wrinkle was that the island also has a sink. The first few countertop fabricators I spoke to told me I either needed to remove the sink (in order to have a wax finished top) or seal the top with poly. When I found Paul and MWC and explained what I wanted to do his reaction was sounds like a great project, lets do it. He was not fazed at all with the challenge of what I wanted and was extremely helpful in working thru options on wood types, colors / stains, edges and overhangs. He was extremely patient (I had a lot of questions) and very thorough in making sure we were going to be happy with the end product. We couldnt be happier with the end product (everyone who visits the house tells us how much they love the island top) and will definitely use MWC on future projects.
Highest quality custom woodworking I have found.
Best wood countertops in the states!
Great product by a local company.
