I went to Suburban Square for the Farmers Market and Trader Joe’s and decided to walk down to the stationary store and then grab a Starbucks. I saw Blue Mercury across the street and reluctantly went in to get a last minute gift for my daughter for Easter. I will be the first to admit I used to shop here for many many years and stopped because I was not getting the best service and everyone was pushy, grumpy and impatient. The store is under new management and you can just tell that the entire vibe has changed! Everyone was so happy and helpful! It was very busy in the store when I walked in. I just started looking around and a brunette girl who I’ve never seen in the store before said hello and to look around and someone would be right with me. Moments later another brunette girl came over and asked if she could help me find anything. She didn’t rush me, made great suggestions without being pushy, and I ended up getting a few things for myself and my daughter. You could tell she just really loved her job and was genuine in her suggestions too. She offered to wrap my gift and even asked me if there was any other product in the store that I would like to try and she would make a sample for me. She then proceeded to make a few samples for me of things we talked about. Before leaving I asked what her name was, she told me (of course I forgot because my old lady memory is horrible) and then also pointed over to the other brunette girl and said her name and that she was the store manager and to come back and let them know what I thought of the samples. I hope this wasn’t just a one hit wonder! I am happy to start shopping here again regularly if this is the new normal!

This is a great store to shop in! I went in last week and even though I didn’t make a purchase, they were so nice and gave me great service. They sent us home with some products to try that we were interested in and told us about a promotion starting this week so if we liked the samples we should come back! I’m going back to buy some products this week! Everyone in the store was super friendly. I have to admit I saw one of the reviews on here saying they were snobby and maybe not inclusive, but I can say that is definitely not true. The sales girl (I think she may have been a manager of some sort) wasn’t even phased that I didn’t want to make a purchase that day and I was welcomed and didn’t feel at all like I didn’t belong. Also, I went into Sephora after and it was night and day difference. Bluemercury is safely letting you test products and the store is beautiful, very clean and organized. In Sephora, they have someone at the door giving you all the rules before you go in and it’s not very welcoming. You can’t even try anything on your hand or a piece of paper. In Bluemercury I saw one of the sales girls actually putting makeup on a paper for a client to demonstrate.

I went into this store for the very first time. There were elderly ladies on the sales floor and were very rude when they proceeded to ask me if I knew how to wear my face mask when I clearly had it on just fine. These ladies then proceeded to talk amongst themselves about me while I was right there only a couple shelves away. I think this is poor customer service and a bit intruding. Thank you but no thank you.

What good sells person asks a first time ever costumer what is their price range? Arent sells people supposed to show you everything they have or everything you need and try at least once to convince you to buy something? I didnt know I needed to look a certain way or spend a certain amount to be able to even put foot on this store. All sells people appeared pretentious and shallow. will never ever go back to this store.

I unfortunately, am giving this location 2 stars. I’ve been coming to suburban square bluemercury for years. The women who work here are great at what they do. However, the last 5 to 6 times I’ve shopped here, the older gentleman with silver hair is a bit much. To my knowledge, he is the only male staff member at this location. I prefer to go in when he’s not there. He gossips, has used profanity on the sales floor, is a bit overbearing and a pinch rude. I have made management aware of this, so hopefully they will talk to their staff about professionalism and etiquette while customers are in-store. Whether I am making a purchase or even coming in for a sample, so I can make a future purchase, professionalism should always be maintained in front of patrons. Other than that, the ladies of this location are on the up and up and they maintain the store nicely.

Excessively overpriced. You sell makeup, you have an open floor plan, everything is white, you claim to be cruelty free- I get it, you are a luxury store. But this place doesnt even have price tags.

Got lots of help and I am not a trendy 20 something. No problem taking anything back. Their own line has no toxic chemicals! The rest beware! Found something I needed there that Sephora did not have.

I dont plan to patron this place anymore. Unlike other negative reviews, I dont have any significant complaints about the staff except that they are extraordinarily pushy. However my main issue is that they are selling products that are old if not expired.I had my suspicions in my first few purchases of products I had been using successfully before, such as the Fresh Rose Mask that I was buying my fourth jar of -- yet for some reason, despite jars 1, 2, and 3 being heaven-scent, my fourth jar from blue mercury broke me out.I bought a refill of my Kiehls Midnight Recovery oil. I had used two bottles of them before and was so happy with the results that I had gone to purchase my third bottle -- but this third bottle from Blue Mercury not only smelled like a completely different product (and unpleasantly so, not the usual pleasant lavender scent), but it made me itch like crazy until it gave me a rash.I bought a refill of my favorite Jo Malone Orange Blossom cologne as well, but it smelled and dried down completely different from the one I bought at the Jo Malone store, as well as all samples of the scent. The Caudalie Beauty Elixir Mist that I had used successfully before gave me a rash when I used the Blue Mercury one.I had raised concerns before about the skincare products to a sales associate who attributed it to the fact that the products I peruse are more natural than others, therefore susceptible to not being able to have two identical jars/tubes.However, I have just noticed something very horrifying on a Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer I bought two weeks ago to refill the tube that Im running out of. Its already expired. I have the date on the tube. It expired two months ago. The tube Im running out of that I bought from nordstroms a year and a half ago hasnt expired yet.And the worst part of all of this is that Blue Mercury, a store thats supposedly high-end, doesnt do refunds. They do store credit only. Its really considerate -- so you can just replace your expired product with another expired product.Whats also considerate is that they dont make you aware of this return policy -- you just sign your name and walk out with your expensive product. Please -- even Forever21 employees warn you that the store policy is store credit only before you pay. And you can get a $6 bra from them.
