Purchased several item at the Ardmore Barbour store. Staff was very helpful and knowable. Would certainly shop there again
Used to be good service. Now they cannot be bothered to look something up or try to order an item they dont have in stock. I was told to go look on the web. Seriously. Wth.
I have worn Barbour since 2002 after learning about the brand from a grad school colleague. I loved working with the employees at the Ardmore, Pa store who shared a passion for Barbour’s brand and quality. In the last three years the management of the store has become intense, aggressive and unprofessional. You can feel the negative energy when you walk in the door.
Visited this store recently. Found an item I liked very much and was ready to purchase but couldn’t because it was quarantined. Female Mgr was kind to place it on hold until quarantine expired and for when she returned back at the store to service me. In the meantime, I found out today another mgr sold it even though jacket had my name, number and notes between mgr and another sales person. Damn the male mgr. who broke the cardinal rule. Very DISAPPOINTING Experience.
For thirty some years this was been the only clothing store at which my late wife allowed me to shop unaccompanied. She knew I would always look acceptable in whatever I purchased. Wonderful staff over the years have always been kind and attentive. About twice each year I stop in and replace that which has worn out and also find new items to add.
I bought a jacket on black friday and have worn it everyday since, but that is not the reason for this review. Yesterday I received a handwritten note from the sales associate that helped me. I am still blown away with the professionalism and the fact that he took time out of his day to do that. He went above and beyond helping me find the perfect fit and liner for the jacket and I cant thank him enough for this letter. Youre the best Matt! I highly recommend Barbour, this store in particular, and ask for Matt when you walk in.
Barbour is a new obsession for me. I work in the same shopping square and I made a visit for the first time Black Friday on my break. I needed a warm coat and they suggested a waxed jacket. Being that I was on break and didn’t have much time I grabbed the wrong size. I wore the jacket out and walked three stores away to my store. When I got back to work I put it back in the bag and into my locker for safe keeping. When I left later that night I realized it felt a bit big and I checked the tag to see what size it was and it was a large when I should’ve grabbed a medium. Being that I work in the square I walked over to exchange for a medium. When I entered the store they were busy so I waited until everyone left so I wasn’t bothering anyone. The store manager Farah ignored me and the other employee came over to see if I needed anything. I asked to try on the medium and the store manager interrupted her and said NO we don’t have it and there NO WAY I can exchange the jacket. Mind you it’s been two days since I bought the jacket. I stated I have the receipt and the original tag. She still said “sorry, there is no way I can exchange the jacket since it was worn outside our store”. After I left the store I couldn’t believe the atrocious customer service I have received, and I know customer service. I work as a sales specialist in retail. I called the philadelphia store and told them the exactly what happened and they were very helpful and empathetic about the situation. I will be visiting the philadelphia store soon to try on a smaller size.I also told some of my employees that have shopped the ardmore store before and they have all told me similar stories about their poor treatment as well. They all assured me the philly store is different and that I should just ALWAYS take my business to that store.See ya soon Philly Barbour. 🙌🏼
They have NO satisfaction guarantee. Even when talked into an impulse sale I am told an exchange for the one I wanted isnt possible: Beware that the store personnel will take your money but they do not deliver service, might was well pay half price on the internet. I own two coats, a Bedale and a Burghley and use them outdoors, as intended, and the products perform. They sold me a hood for my Burghley and insisted on a quilted lining because the tartans wont match. They dont on my Bedale, and I dont care on the Burghley either. All was well until I found out today that the quilted hood makes the coat unusable above 45 degrees f. Hot doesnt do the thing justice . . If they dont exchange it I will need to cut out the quilting. If they do exchange it I will update this review and reluctantly give another star, but there is no excuse for this when I can get the hood for $30 on the web, they charged me $60, so they are making over 100% anyway.
Great staff, super helpful.
Awesome customer service.
