I was looking for some upscale corn holders. They did not have any like that. I started looking around at other things, like cloth napkins. They had some nice ones. But others appeared a bit shopworn (dirty) and were not marked down. I had a hard time swallowing the prices of the new ones, much less the shopworn ones that were the same prices. I guess made of linen in India costs more than made in China. π€ It is a beautiful store, both inside and out (loved the beautiful potted plants outside), and it does have some nice things--baking pans, appliances, kitchen tools, etc.--just not what I was looking for. Oh, and the staff was very pleasant and tried to be helpful.
My friend and I came here for the pasta cooking class with Chef Scott. It was absolutely incredible we couldnβt stop talking about it all the way home. The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and fun and all the food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our girls night out and we will definitely be back for more classes!
From what I saw, it was about Bed Bath & Beyond quality for about twice the price. I also wasnt a big fan of how many products were being sold with Sur La Table branding on the actual product. The store was okay but really not great value or really even great quality.
Amazing staff and selection of items. We took a cooking class with Chef Marion and Assistant Britta and it was wonderful. We always enjoy shopping and learning at Sur La Table!
My kid is going here for cooking classes. The chefs are great with the kids. My son loves it..
Sur La Table is a culinary store that sells cookware, bakeware, kitchen tools, knives, small appliances, dining and home, coffee and tea, food, and outdoor cookware and dining supplies and offers in-person cooking classes. Some of my favorite items include crepe pans, paella pans, fondue sets, pizza stones, bakeware, baking tools, countless kitchen gadgets, kitchen appliances (e.g., blenders, food processors, hand mixers, juicers, slow cookers, and pressure cookers), seasoning dry rubs and marinades (e.g., Runamok maple syrup, Bees Knees hot honey), and grilling cookware and tools. While browsing online, I saw that Mercado items were sold out online but had limited stock at Pentagon Row location, I called the store immediately. The staff were friendly and helpful. Shout outs to Ty for holding items for 24-hours to pick up the next day and Marc for calling King of Prussia store to ship remaining items to ship home.
This place has it all! Sure La Table has been in Crystal City for over 20 years still going strong. π¨βπ³
Ramen cooking class! π Great instructor, patient, funny, relaxed. The ingredients were superb and we all got to take home ramen soup to reheat and enjoy.
Small footprint but carries most of what you need! Parking is good too, making it a win.
Good kitchen high end store
Came here for a croissant making class with Marion and really, really enjoyed myself. He was knowledge, friendly, helpful, and fun to be around. The store has so much kitchenware and theres a nice range of prices where theres something for everyone.
Dude was super nice...now that the filed bankruptcy...and they are liquidating prices are fairly reasonable
Just had an excellent contactless pickup here with associate John - super friendly and helpful! Thank you, John!
This is my favorite and only place I will ever shop for kitchen appliances and cookware! They have a great selection of knives and premium pots and pans with brands like all-clad! I love coming here during demos from companies like kitchen aid other companies! Highly recommend!
I love walking through this store when I am out shopping at other stores on Pentagon Row as Sur La Table has so many great kitchen items to browse through. The staff are always very helpful and friendly as well. Some of the prices here are really high when compared to other stores - so wait for a sale. Their kitchen knife selection is good and after discounts are comparably priced with other stores (even online).
Took a sushi-making class here with my sister - we were really looking forward to it and to tasting our own sushi. I thought ahead and brought a clean, empty tupperware container, assuming wed have some fun leftovers that wed want to take home and share with our family. We each made four full sushi rolls in the class - there was no way we could finish it all there! As were packing it up and expressing how excited we are to share our creations and eat them later, one of the people came up to us and told us we werent allowed to bring any food home! We were so disappointed - they just throw the food away if you cant finish it, and we definitely could not finish this amount of food. I paid nearly $200 for both of us to do this class together and we werent allowed to bring what WE made home with us. It was a fun class but Im not sure it was worth the amount I paid for, and ended up leaving disappointed regardless
A cooking class at Sur la Table sounded like a great date idea. It wasnt. While the class wasnt horrible, it definitely wasnt what I expected. I barely got to do anything. We were put into groups of five and had to split up the work of making the meal. Unless youre really outgoing and aggressive, chances are your classmates will keep you from doing much. I sliced onions. Thats about it. I didnt really learn anything new. Sure, I got to try out some decent recipes (and some not-so-great recipes), but I could have just found similar recipes and made those things at home.
The classes here are awesome. The chefs are all very nice, each class comes with a 10% off coupon and if you end up liking your class and want to go to another the same day, its $20 off. Class prices range from $20-100+.
Ty, the knife guy, is fantastic !
The cooking class left a lot to be desired. There was very little hands on work. Chef Dean did about 90% of the cooking. He started by doing the entire tiramisu himself. We all got to chop up a couple vegetables. He cut everyones duck breast. The class was more of a demonstration than a hands on experience to learn about cooking.
Great experience
Its an interesting store. I havent taken the cooking lessons, but they look good.
Great spot
They have upscale items as well as some more reasonably priced things as well, like bread pans and cookie sheets. so you dont have to break the bank in one visit. staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
While this place offers a vast array of kitchen novelties, if you have claustrophobic tendencies, they may flair up in this fine establishment. The place is packed floor-to-ceiling with any and every kitchen item you could ever need, minus plastic drinking straws. For me, its a bit too overwhelming and I leave empty-handed with no memory of what I was looking for in the first place. On the upside, the staff is pretty friendly, and they offer cooking classes on the regular.
Iβve called them about 10 times. They answer and put me on hold and then hang up. If they donβt do that they just pick up the phone and hang up right after. I have tried getting in contact with them and they wonβt answer.
I came across Sur La Table the other week and I think they need to change their name to Sur La LAZY! Let me explain whyβ¦ When you think of a Culinary Store/Cooking School the first thing that comes to my mind would be awesome Equipment, Instruction, Guidance, Interaction, Skill Level, and a Real Meal. This was not the case on April 14, 2018.After coming across this class I gathered my friends together. Two from the state of Maryland and two that flew in from Minnesota. We were very excited to experience a cooking class as a group of friends. We had scheduled our class, $85 per person, βNight Out RosΓ©β, quickly we got excited at the thought of Alcohol being infused into our food and being able to enjoy a glass while cooking. We arrived at the class, got our aprons on, and patiently waited for all the other students to arrive. When everyone funneled in the Chef came in and welcomed the class.Chef informed us that he was a full-time Chef, Safety/ Hygiene Inspector, and Culinary Teacher. We were quite impressed with his background. He explained the had 20 personalities and how he could be French, English, American, New Yorker, and many more (what he didnβt know is that one of our friends in a British man formerly from England). He began speaking in different accents to be funny until he realized our friend actually has an English accent! The one thing that we thought was a little weird to begin with was that he did not make any eye contact. When he started to explain, what was going to happen that day he stated that one recipe the Tiramisu we would not actually be making. So, he started making it and we just had to watch. He did not wash his hands before starting. We were a little grossed out by this. As we are watching him make the first dish he began his sales pitch. This was the most annoying thing we had ever experienced. Everything he would touch he would explain how we could buy it and where we could find it in the store. After he finished the Desert he put it in the fridge and he then said we would start the next meal.We were definitely wondering when we would get to actually touch the food and interact. We began to grow more and more annoyed. Time was going by so quickly and we hadnβt touched any food yet. What the heck was going on?? He spent a good portion of 30 minutes explaining each knife that we hadβ¦ that everyone has a different knife so that we could find one that we like and go buy it. I began to get irate at this point and definitely made some side comments that were not the best, but I didnβt care because I was getting pissed off.FINALLY, we get to start our dinner. Chef explains how to cut the shallots and proceeds to show us. He started taking food from our dishes to show us how to cut them. What was annoying about this is that we thought we were going to be cutting our own food. Why didnβt the chef have his own ingredients? He cut about 2 of our radishes, 2 shallots, Parsley, and potatoes. So, by the time we got to cut our vegetables we didnβt have much left to cut since he had already done this for us. Not much of a cooking class if all I do is watch. After another 15 minutes shopping break, we gathered again to begin learning how to score the duck. He grabs the duck but quickly stopped and proceeded to tell us that his ECZEMA was flaring up and he needed a gloveβ¦. WHATT THE ACTUAL HELL!!! You just made our desert and cut our vegetables with your hands and now you tell me you have a skin condition?? NO!! That is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard of in my life. My friends and I all looked at each other in disbelief. We should have just walked out that exact moment, but we stayed. When we got to actually cook and by cook, I mean cut 1 Vegetable and stir a pan he kept putting us on breaks (to go buy things) and the food was getting cold. This was extremely frustrating. The portions were way smaller than we expected (portion for 1 and our group was 4). For the amount of money, we spent as a group, $340 was WAY too much.I WILL NEVER RETURN!!!!
They no longer had the $200 dollar appliance i was looking for and the fat sales woman with the glasses was rude and snobbish about checking to see whether another store had it in stock. When she directed me to another sales person and no stores had it in stock, i just ordered from amazon. Eventually amazon will replace this stupid store and their extremely poor inventory management.
Wonderful atmosphere, kitchen items, espresso machines, and they have cooking classes. First 30 minute free parking in the main parking area around the corner.
The review is for the store (though Id love to try the cooking classes) - awesome, awesome place! If you cant find what youre looking for here, I dont know where you can.
Incredible cooking classes
The Sur La Table in Pentagon Row offers a nice selection of kitchen wares -- but dont come here expecting walmart pricing. Sur La Table definitely appeals to self describes home-chefs. With lots of excellent gadgets to cook your meal in style. The associates are helpful and knowledgable. and their selection is great!I love coming here -- although my wallet doesnt!
The store is usually well stocked and has plenty of sale items to peruse.
Great store for cookware. Love the cooking classes as they are hands on.
The best. They have everything imaginable for the kitchen.
If you have no questions and do not need costumer service this is the spot for you! If you want help or have questions do not bother with this location. The costumer service is quite lacking.
Love this place, they have every thing
Was in town on business and found the item I was looking for, however the customer service was poor. One associate Karen was rude to me when I asked if they had the item in stock. Had to search for it myself. I wont be going back to this location.
Sur La Table is like a candy store for cooks. You walk and you just dont want to leave. I find myself walking in and want to touch everything and trying to justify why I need to buy something.
So much stuff! If there is some kitchen tool you need, chances are they can hook you up.
Love this place you could find anything
Very nice
