Multiple repeat consumer. The butcher meat is phenomenal, the burgers and fries are great. Ditto awesome meatloaf and Reuben sandwich. A definite go to.
Ordered a Reuben sandwich, ff, a burger and ff and it cost $30. Sat outside, had to get our own water out of a cooler with a plastic cup, a sign posted told us to bus our own tables and when I asked to use the bathroom I was directed to a PORT_A-JOHN out back!! Expensive food and horrible atmosphere!

They serve only organically fed and or free ranged dishes. Great outdoor and indor space for large parties and kid friendly. There is always a water dish outside and plenty of outdoor seating for us and furry friends.Great selection of local beers and a full bar. If youre craving a steak or a burger youve hit pay dirt!.
The Foothills staff were welcoming, helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious. My burger was juicy and flavorful. I’m so glad we took the time to find this gem in Black Mountain.

First time eating here was disappointed in it 40 bucks for two burgers and fries. Nothing special about the food have to say I could have gotten the same tasting burger and fries anywhere and cheaper.

Rarely give 5 star but deserving. 21 days aged steak was moist and tasty. Nice grill char on outside. The sides, beats and collards were equally tasty. Butcher board was a great experience with the house meats and different pickled veggies and cheese.FYI, 8/10-8/11, sat and sun, they are having a festival right in front of the restaurant. Therefore youll need to park in the SunTrust parking lot behind the restaurant. Or find space elsewhere and walk to it.
Best burger I have EVER eaten, great fries, & I sampled my husbands smoked, pulled, bbq chicken (from Springer Mountain Farms, no less!) Wow! All meats are sourced from humane, nearby farms - and thats worth the drive. Loved the atmosphere, service was beyond wonderful...friendly & seemed pleased to answer our questions. We will go back.
Highly reccomend! Split the chips and pimento dip and a wedge salad. Both were excellent. Outdoor seating is super comfortable.

The owner of BAD Craft recommended this place for dinner, specifically the poutine appetizer, and I was sold. (It’s one of my faves.) We decided to split the blue plate special which was brisket with an herbed Demi glaze, mashed potatoes, and collard greens. My husband said this was the best appetizer he’d ever had and I think I agree. Our meal was fantastic. Will definitely be back.
Just open a few months ago and doing a good job. A high quality lunch.I have gone back now for dinner. Cant say enough good things about our meal. It was even better than lunch. I had the butchers cut which was a truly prime piece of sirloin in a beautiful beef sauce with potatoes, onions and slaw.My companion had a different special, their brisket. It couldnt have been more tender and juicy. Both meals were huge portions that provided enough for a second serving the next day.Be sure to save some room for dessert because the chocolate mousse is a deep rich chocolate experience not to be missed...not overly sweet, but very rich and filling..
Travis went above and beyond to cater to our very specific needs and went a step further even. The food was cooked perfectly, presentation was beautiful, service was beyond excellent. Could not recommend any other place I have ever eaten over foothills!! Thank you!!
Ok. So my review is a little biased because I work for Foothills, but I have been with Foothills over a year. Started right after the first statewide shutdown when Covid-19 was first spreading. I have been here through one of the toughest times the restaurant has gone through. However, thought that time, the owners have done their best to lookout for their employees wellbeing. As the company starts to reset and get back to normalcy I see the care and compassion and eagerness of my fellow employees to make Foothills the best it can be. Everyone hates their job someday, but I think most of us love our work environment. You really become like a family after working with the same people day in and day out and here, we all get along so well. Something I usually have not seen in other restaurants.Thanks Foothills for giving me this opportunity and to my work family, thanks for making work fun!

Best burger in wnc. the lil’ cheeseburger is a classic diner smash burger which is my all time fav. you can make it a double for only a buck more and it’s amazing! they also have a good selection of beers and spirits.
We had a party of 6 rehearsal dinner brought to our AirB&B on 2/16/2021.Travis was so easy to work with. Very pleasant personality. For our buffet we ordered Beef tips, winter root vegetables, twice baked mashed potatoes, Cobb salad. TOWER CAKE...Everything was so fresh, great sauces and spices. Next time that we we go to Asheville, we eat at their restaurant. Good prices.

Definitely recommend!! First, this place is WAY better than its current rating! I would say this is already in the top 10, with the potential to do so much better. They are new (2 months) so a few bugs to work out. Next, very solid drink menu (beer and cocktails). The wife’s Bloody Mary was excellent (she had 2). For dinner, she had the grilled bologna sandwich which was very, very tasty (locally made mustard, mmmmm), although she would preferred a thicker cut. My ribeye was also excellent, perfectly cooked, albeit a little cooler than I would have thought. I don’t recall seeing heat lamps in the kitchen which is admirable, but requires their timing to be perfect. They have inside and outside seating, so we look forward to visiting again later this spring and trying it again!
Fantastic place great service and incredible food, the Poutine is very very special.The burger was one of the best I have ever had.Great people very dog friendly, they even have us a beef bone for our dog to chew on on while we ate our dinner.We were only in the area for 5 days but we after here twice

The food is delightful- their pulled pork was one of the best I ever tasted, and my wife got a veggie burger, which was so wonderfully done, a rarity with vegan food in most places. The place also has socially distant outdoor patio seating, and as a scientist, I felt satisfied and safer, eating here! Highly recommended if you are passing by Black Mountain, NC!
Was a great little gem hidden in downtown black mountain.the decor and atmosphere were perfect for a local dine out experience. They are more than happy to tell you all about their local ties and story about how the food truck to fame business was founded. They boast all thier items on the menu being locally sourced. These burgers are not weak. This is how a burger is supposed to be and the butcher bar burgers have strength and the frys they blend so perfectly too!They also offer aged meats, fresh meats, and a selection of local dairy products as well! Great sides and unique dishes like the poutine pictured below and local brews and cocktails. I would check this one out..These guys care about the community, thier guests, and are proud of the hard work put into their meats and it shows in the flavor.Ill eat here again for sure.

I was visiting Black Mountain and Foothills Butcher Bar was recommended to me! Oh, My Goodness! The food was incredible, fresh and delicious and truly Southern! I returned several times that week, with friends, who also thought the place was amazing. The Blue Plate Special was really SPECIAL! And the staff ... they were SO friendly and kind and I felt like I made new friends! I would Highly Recommend this place!!!

We had the Sunday brunch... I ordered the Breakfast platter and everything was very good... The Tallow tots and Country fried steak were excellent... The order came out faster than anywhere else Ive been and the servers were awesome and very attentive!!! Nice job to all!!!
Freshest and tastiest burger Ive eaten in Black Mountain. Fries were perfect. Atmosphere cozy, staff courteous and friendly. Couldnt be more satisfied and look forward to returning to taste their breakfast offerings. Great find!

Love this place! We came here with our two kids and black lab and ate outside. The service is great, the burgers were delicious, and the beer was local and cold. They also brought out a water bowl for our dog. Great on a warm but crisp fall day! Will return for sure!

Spectacular food, the quality and preparation was great. Service was very good, the prices were reasonable. The atmosphere is nice, but they need to tone down on some of the lighting from the neon signs and coolers.

Never disappoint! Best burger ever! The blue plate special changes regularly but it is always good and always a good deal. Great atmosphere for dining. Good cocktails and local beer selection. The butchery is right next door so you know its local.
We came here after a hike and it was perfect. We got the warm pimento cheese and could’ve easily eaten it twice over. I got the bean burger and have to say it was probably the most flavorful and interesting (in a good way) veggie burger I’ve had in a while. My wife had a lil’ cheeseburger and she thought it was amazing. We will certainly be back on our next visit to North Carolina.

The burgers and barbecued chicken sandwich we got were really good, and the fries were excellent. Two things detracted from the experience, though. They dont have fountain sodas, so you get a can of soda. I get that it is a bar, but since it is also a nice restaurant, letting people have the typical drink choices of a restaurant would be appreciated. The other problem we had was with the fact that we arrived between lunch and dinner, and were told that the blue plate special wasnt available then. That was disappointing. For a place called the Butcher Bar, I was really expecting a bit more variety in the meats. There were two steak offerings, one of which was for two people, and the rest were salads, sandwiches, and burgers. We would like to go back, and will be sure to come when the blue plate special is available, just for a little extra choice in the menu. Maybe make a notice of that on your website? The menu just says ask the server.
I cant remember the last time I had a better hamburger! The lil classic is the perfect size and it was cooked beautifully, juicy and flavorful with crispy edges. Yum! The Farmers salad was great too. My server was pleasant and attentive. Im hooked! My new go-to place for a burger.

Tried taking my little boy for a Saturday brunch at Louise’s and the line was insane! I’m so thankful it was. When we walked out feeling hungry and defeated I saw a big bright BREAKFAST sign like a beacon of hope. (Or should i say, bacon of hope.) we walked in and sat down immediately. The food was absolutely fantastic. Maybe some of the best bacon I’ve ever had and the entire wait staff was incredible. I can’t wait to go back!

This place is amazing all the way from owners to staff. The food was out of this world!! We were in town for Thanksgiving and went in on a whim, I am so glad I did. I ended up bring a bunch of Beef Short Ribs back to Charleston with me. If you get the chance I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
When we travel, we want to eat food that isn’t available anywhere else. Here’s the twist: a Reuben and meatloaf are available in many places, yet these at Foothills are different. I won’t ever have these dishes the same anywhere else. Best food and service we had in a long time. Go here.

Lots & lots of other local products are used at their Butcher Bars and Food Truck which is impressive! From their catering to their epic Butcher’s Table Dinners to their nostalgic vibe, to their awesome staff - we love this place!
I was pleasantly surprised by the nice ambience of Foothills. I loved the nice outdoor patio. The burger was good, ordered carolina burger but didnt add cheese 😪 which I think would have made it better. I didnt like the lack of fries or the no refills on drinks. They do have great specials and different menu items often.
Was part of a six member group close to closing time and they took care of us like we were there in the middle of the day. Food was delicious. Surprised that I found the best boiled peanuts Id ever eaten here. Outside seating was very nice and prices were very reasonable for the area. Entrees were delicious too. We all walk away satisfied. Would definitely go here again when I am in the area.

I am never disappointed at Foothills. I fell for their burgers and I’m there pretty much every Monday for the burger and draft $10 special. (Its usually $12 but right now it’s a retro $10!) and I usually do a second trip in a week if I’m lucky! I bought an andouille sausage last time to take home (I live alone so just one!) and had it tonight. Let me tell you it was premium plus! And the time before last I was in, I took home a half pound of bacon. I cooked it ALL in a 24 hour period it was so dang good! (Yes a bacon marathon). They always make everything right too and I’m picky being gluten and dairy free. Can’t say enough good things about their food. Recently they’ve added more veggies to the menu so a burger with a side of cauliflower makes me feel a little less guilt for my red meat habit. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. AAA++
Love this place! Ate too many potatoes cause they do them all very well! It was great to choose my steak that had been cut in the adjacent butcher shop! Everything was done right, drinks were on point, local farm products used, and love seeing them render their own tallow for the amazing fries! Will definitely visit again.
A great place to hang out and have a meal and/or drink with friends. Its kid friendly, quick and there staff is super nice. They change the menu seasonally and its a treat to try new things here. You cant go wrong with their burgers and the hotdogs are delicious. Still, you should try the other stuff too. Its a great place to experiment with new things. With that, the mix drinks a favorite. Always new and exciting drinks to try at the bar. Some really fresh ideas for cocktails and they also have a fantastic selection of beers. Love going here!
My wife and I had the blue plate special which was mushroom glazed beef brisket with greens. We both agree that it was the best tasting brisket either of us have ever tasted. We ordered dessert afterwards, a Mexican chocolate dish that was spicy and really tasty. Ive heard they have awesome burgers, so I have to go back and try them, and hopefully the brisket will be on the menu again.
If I could give zero stars I would. I wouldn’t recommend this place for large groups! First of all, we walked in and there was no one hostessing or waiting on people so we sat down outside at one of the many open tables. After a couple minutes of waitresses walking past us I went inside and asked an employee about ordering. She said there was actually a 15-20 minute wait. I apologized for sitting down as we thought it was self seating. I told her we were confused as there were 2-3 tables open outside and 5-6 open inside but didn’t mind waiting as we had a group of 11. Once I told her this she said she normally doesn’t sit tables that big and the wait would actually be 45-60+ minutes. I told her there were large groups outside (8+) and we didn’t expect to sit together. I offered to split up 5 and 6 or even in 3’s or 4’s. The hostess became extremely rude and said that it wouldn’t be possible as it would overload the kitchen. I again expressed my wish to sit separately, as there were multiple tables open. She shut me down immediately and said they normally don’t sit big groups but if we wanted to wait (basically until everyone else in the restaurant was done eating) for the possibility of being seated we were welcome to hangout in the deli or outside. She suggested I go talk with my friends and get back to her with our decision (in an incredibly condescending voice). We obviously decided to leave and went to Black Mountain Ale House where we were happily sat within minutes all together. Don’t go here unless you’d like to be talked down to by the hostess, ignored by the waitresses, and be shamed for having a large group of people in the mountains for vacation.
We stopped in for a light bite to eat and were not disappointed! The Butcher Block charcuterie was amazing! The smoke old fashion was also incredible. Highly recommend!
My wife are scouting out to live and we discovered Black Mountain and the Foothills restaurant and we fell in love with Both!! Once are kids are out of college we are moving up to Black Mountain and will be going to Foothills on a regular bases!!! Great food, Great beer, and fantastic people!!!!!!

Im not someone to just hand out 5 star reviews but wow is this place good for breakfast. A little bit of a wait, but they provide complimentary decent coffee while you wait and there are plenty of antique shops nearby to spend time. I got the Butchers Breakfast Platter and it was excellent. The eggs were cooked exactly as I wanted and the biscuit was superb (I am very obnoxious about biscuits). The country fried steak was great, reasonably tender and very crispy. The hash browns were sort of a let down since they werent very crispy, but all is forgiven based on how good everything else was.Service was decent, my table had a few other menu items as well and everyone was pleased with their food. Would come again.

I’ve dined here many times when visiting Black Mountain. FBB offers a consistent very good dining experience. Creative menu, flavor oriented, unique casual atmosphere where chef activity can be viewed. Indoor & outdoor seating. If you’re sampling Black Mountain’s dining attractions I’d say Foothills is a must. Enjoy!
Tried it for brunch and will likely drive back to try a burger some day. The server informed us that they do have gluten free hamburger buns, but sadly the fries are not fried in a dedicated fryer. Food was excellent, some of the best grits Ive had in a restaurant, very creamy and fluffy and actually came out seasoned. Yes it is a bit pricey but thats to be expected for locally sourced food. The only thing that can be improved is the wait time for food, we waited 45 minutes between placing the order and the food arriving.
How do I phrase? Only two other tables had patrons when we entered, the wait staff were great but something must have gone wrong in the kitchen. It took close to an hour to get our meal (butcher cut for two ). Never an explanation as to why the wait. Ordered medium well, but meat was way over cooked but didn’t send back as we had already waited forever. Mashed potatoes were good, roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts were good but neither had enough for two people servings. Dessert was a joke. A little square pastry with a chocolate pecan something in it. All together it was a waste of $55 for our 15th anniversary dinner. Best part of meal was black walnut ice cream at nearby ice cream shop. Told husband I get a do over meal next week but not here.
