We weren’t planning on stopping here, but when my husband and I both stopped to enjoy the smell of the grilled cheese, we quickly made room in our schedule for some lunch.Ordering was easy, since the gentleman helping us knew plenty about the menu. The food came out quickly too. While we were eating, a group of women stopped to say that they hoped it tasted as good as it smelled, which it absolutely did.10/10, would grilled cheese again.

Cute bakery in Asheville, NC. Fairly busy on a Sunday, decent assortment of yummies, and customer service was good. Got a chocolate chip cookie, baklava, and crème brûlée. The cookie didnt have much flavor, very basic. The baklava was heavily spiced with cinnamon/cloves, which wasnt expected. The crème brûlée was a great portion but just a little on the very sweet side. Would go back for lunch and a chocolate pot de crème.

I just had to post because it can be seen as expensive to some. I ordered a piece of carrot cake and I have to say that the icing was amazing. The icing wasnt super sweet. The cake itself was sweet to me so there was a good balance. I started eating at the bottom of the cake first and worked my way up. Unfortunately the closer I got to the top the more I could taste a freezer burn type taste. I ended up throwing half of the piece away. I wish I could give this five stars but once youve had food that taste freezer burned it is just so hard to get that taste out of your mouth. My sister had a piece of fudge cake and it was great. My mom had something with espresso but I wasnt sure what it was exactly...hers tasted freezer burned at the top as well and she ate it anyway...however the cookies and brownies all turned out fine...so its a toss up. Id say its definitely worth a try but Im not sure I could eat cake there again.

Wanted to grab a coffee and something sweet before going to the Biltmore, found this place with decent reviews. Ordered coffees and choc chip cookie. Cookie was close to $4 and what came out was a week old extremely average cookie. It was dry and hard. This town seems to have a bunch of places that appear boushie, but serve mediocre food at Manhattan prices. ( I would know, I’ve lived there). I asked if the cookies were baked fresh and was told they were. Yeah maybe a week ago. Honestly just go to chic fil a.

Was always a must on my previous Asheville trips but not anymore. Setup was different due to covid restrictions but not a problem. The problem was Order limitations(maximum of 6 for one item type), which was never a thing before because Ive purchased up to 3 dozen of one type in the past. My daughter was with me, she only had cash on her so I was going to pay for everything together and we exceeded the Order limitations per the individual from inside. The cashier was more than understanding of our situation but after debating with the individual from inside about trying to purchase products from a business selling products, I canceled my order of $120+ and will NEVER be back again.

I tried this place for the second time hoping to have a better experience but I had a bad one. I ordered a $2.50 “lemonade” which did not even remotely resemble anything to do with lemons. It tasted very saccharine and had no evidence of lemons being used as an ingredient. I couldn’t even drink it. I ordered a salad call an Asian salad which was lettuce different colored bell pepper slices and some peanuts which was nice and fresh but very simple, basic and extremely overpriced. Disappointed. I would love to try it all. You order at the counter and they bring your order to the large sitdown area. I would come back, in fact I might come back today. There is Lot of chocolate to try.We returned following our tour of the Biltmore to have lunch. This time we split two lunches for the three of us and we were able to finish it all. We were looking for some good fresh baked sourdough bread. We’re fairly new to Asheville coming from the SF Bay Area in CA so we have been spoiled with great sourdoughs. We found Well-bred online and thought we’d give it a try based on their reviews and menu.We did an online order last Saturday night for a Sunday morning pickup. Showed up at 9 am and unfortunately our order didn’t seem to go through. However, they were able to hook us up with almost exactly what we wanted. The sourdough batard was perfect! Nice texture, flavor was truly sourdough, great crust. We also got 2 plain bagels and a cinnamon roll. The bagels were the best we’ve had so far in Asheville! And the cinnamon roll was excellent!Overall win on all items. We will be back. There are 2 locations and they have slightly different menus so make sure you order and go the right one 😉.

I cant believe that a cafe in Biltmore Village only serves their drinks and food on plastic/cardboard. What a waste and certainly not all that eco-friendly. She then took my order. 3 cookies and my wife ordered a mocha. They gave us a number and we went to sit down. 15 minutes passed and still now coffee ... so my wife went to inquire and they had forgotten to make it... so we waited another 5 minutes and they brought it. This place used to be the hallmark of a trip to Asheville! Now you walk up in the cold to a dingy plastic table and order from a paper list, for pickup only. The service is no longer friendly. They won’t even let you use the bathroom. The food was cold and tasted old, and the joy of seeing beautiful baked goods in the case as you order is gone, despite every other cafe and bakery being able to operate while maintaining safe COVID restrictions. The patio has heaters, which were turned off and feels dirty and less sanitary than just eating inside.

We are staying nearby in Biltmore Village and were very excited for a walkable coffee and pastry option. Unfortunately our experience was not a positive one. We’ve had numerous “meh” food experiences, so the cookies being cold and hard, and the latte leaving much to be desired isn’t reason enough to leave an unfavorable review. The unwelcoming environment is, as is the assumption that I would need an explanation on the drink I just ordered, specifically that “we don’t make it like Starbucks”. This was not my first experience at a non chain coffee shop. The condescension in that interaction alone is the reason I cannot tell if they have delicious quiche. I decided not to order breakfast, keeping the interaction brief and avoiding an explanation of eggs and crust.Being stared at during the entirety of our time there is a major factor in the unwelcoming experience. I do realize that the business itself does not choose its customers but it is always concerning to be in an environment where customers display discomfort with sharing a patio with black patrons. I attempted to explain it away (twins in a stroller attract looks) but the looks were not at them. “One of these things is not like the others”My husband is not please with my two star rating as he can’t find anything good about the experience BUT the whatever praline cookie was so good I forgot to share.I’m honestly really disappointed that we will have to drive to find coffee and breakfast for the rest of our vacation when the walk is just one minute.

After many people told me had good well bred was, the overall experience was a bit disappointing. First, the waste: you walk up and order and they don’t ask you if you want to go vs eating there despite so many people eating there. They package everything Togo and it’s A LOT of packaging. We sat down at a table and ate, the was forced to throw away a large plastic bag, two smaller paper bags inside of that, tin foil, and silverware etc as soon as we were finished and that was for TWO items. Second, I asked to add white cheddar to chicken salad sandwich and was told it wasn’t allowed because they were “continually low on resources so nothing could be added” despite there being other items with the cheese in question listed on the menu. It was a bit confusing bcz as far as I know, there’s no shortage of cheddar cheese in the world, so why can’t they keep enough cheese stocked for the occasional addition? They sell grilled cheese as well, so I’m pretty sure they just don’t want to bother with any substitutions. I had the breakfast burrito instead since no cheese was allowed on chicken salad sandwich. it was good. My friend had the chicken salad sandwich anyway and it was just okay. Strange aftertaste. Iced mocha as really good, perfect subtle sweetness. Would I go back? Maybe to try some pasteries but not for brunch. Too many better places. The chicken salad sandwich at Romans deli is amazing, so why would I bother to go here again. Overall, it was super adequate.
