Great place to get custom moldings. And, for historic restorations they have a huge selection of knives from the turn of the last century. Owner is pretty nice too.
Only place for all you custom trim and molding needs. Best customer service and always willing to help.
Gerald does a super job milling. And reasonable
Have been dealing with them for almost 20 years. They run all my trim, stair parts and sometimes flooring for my custom houses. Great group of folks and always good prices and great service. They are set up for large orders for mostly contractors so that may be why some negative comments about smaller orders. Keep up the good work Gerald and family!!
Everything leading up to picking up my order was great, Gerald was easy to work with, incredibly knowledgeable, and I thought the price was great. I ordered 130 of baseboard and shoe moulding, for $350.They called me to let me know the order was ready, and at 4pm I left work early to pick it up. I showed up at 4:30 to a locked door, no cars, and a sign on the front saying open from 8am - 5pm. Obviously, I was a little put off by that, but what else to do but leave and go home. Hour wasted.I showed up this morning and told them what happened. I expected, at a minimum, some apologies, but really I think a few dollars off the order wouldve been appropriate. What I got was Gerald screaming at me, and telling me to get into my car while approaching me red faced angry. Heres the conversation (as I remember it – I understand that Im biased) that triggered this response:Me: If it was up to me I would leave, but my wife says we need this order. I cant believe this mess.G: Well its not my fault the sign is wrongMe: Well its not MY fault!(btw, HOW is it not his fault - hes the owner!)At this point he grabbed a bundle of wood off the top of the car, said he wouldnt work with me, yelling and telling me to leave. Once I got in the car he slammed it shut and told me to get out. His words and body language made it clear he was as furious as you can get. I didnt stand there refusing to leave, I was ready to get out of there. His daughter shooed him away and made every attempt to remedy the situation – I did end up buying the wood (I did NOT want to, but Im under a tight deadline, not much choice).Oh I forgot to mention that Geralds wife was also a part of this – telling me Id better leave, hes upset and when I said An apology was all that was needed she said Im not sorry! – which I believe! So that was my experience. I hope yours is better – or that you shop somewhere else.
I have been doing business with this company for over 20 years. They are as professional as I am.
I brought a small order of lumber - around 1000 board feet to be sanded and shaped from baseboard and window trim. The owner told me it would be ready in two weeks. Three weeks later I had not heard from him. I had to go in his direction so I stopped by. He said they had been busy but promised it to me the next week. Two weeks went by. I made repeated calls for another two weeks with no calls back. Finally I got him on the phone and he laughed and told me that he had to take care of his big customers and that any small jobs would have to wait. He gave me no date and did not seem to care he had broken his promise. I hung told him we would come and pick it up and take it elsewhere. When we got there, the order was buried way in the back of their warehouse storage and all jumbled up so there is no way they could have done it correctly. It cost me $300 in pick up and delivery fees and 2 months later I am now able to get it done by someone else. I will never go back. All he had to do was tell me he wasnt going to be able to get to it, but he made me a promise and did not even care he could not keep it.
Smokey Mtn lumber produces many types of wooden components that are not available any where else. Usually can be ordered from any species that your project requires.
Great place, good people
