Wonderful ice cream with interesting flavors. The Belgian Dark Chocolate was rich and not overly sweet. The raspberry sauce is very tasty.

A great stop to hit after the WNC Nature center. Lots of yummy flavors without artificial colors and such, strawberry, coffee, and Belgian dark chocolate were all super creamy and tasted great. Reasonable prices with friendly staff.

First time to try and probably the last. Staff were real friendly and shop was nice. But the ice cream had no flavor! I had the vanilla Oreo cream and barely could taste Oreo. My wife had chocolate chip cookie dough and neither of us could taste anything. Sad to say it was not the ultimate ice cream.

Small place hidden in the back of a strip mall. You would never know it is there without Googling it. Besides that, very good service and very good creamy ice cream. They may become our favorite spot. Limited selections but lends it self to quality over quantity.

They service was great, they were super friendly and helpful! There were enough flavors and accommodations for everyone to enjoy. There was also a nice outdoor sitting space!

Visit from Tallahassee, FL. and wanted some ice cream found this place behind the Italian restaurant and decided why not, after getting a small sundae I was bracing for the worst because Im Lactose Intolerant but to my surprise nothing no stomach problems nothing, I was so happy that I visit again the next evening and praise them on their product.Great service and ice cream.

This place is phenomenal! The authenticity of the tastes are fantastic! The cookie dough tastes like its right out the bowl. Our favorite was the salted caramel...perfection!

Ice cream is delicious but we were charged extra for our double scoops with 2 different flavors.

Good ice cream. Rude staff. Came in forthe first time tonight. Asked the young man behind the counter for double scoop with 2 flavors. Was brusquely told That will cost more. What? It costs more for 1 scoop each of 2 different flavors than 2 scoops of the same flavor? What? Never heard of that but ok. No thank you, no eye contact. Than was very obviously hinted to tip. Ummm... no. Wont be back.

Decided to grab desert on a whim after a short road trip. Delicious ice cream and the milkshake was FANTASTIC. Great customer service and they even stayed open late for us. Definitely worth the short trek out here!

We thought the ice cream was very flavorful and delicious! I got the goat cheese and bing cherry. The tart sweet cherry halves match wonderfully with the clean smooth flavor of the cheese. Boyfriend got chocolate chip cookie dough and salted caramel. The salted caramel was flavorful; the caramel and salt complimented each other well. He liked the cookie dough, but felt there wasnt enough chocolate chips or cookie dough. The staff was young, but sweet and offered great customer service.

This is hands down the best ice cream around here. My family and I have started picking places for dinner based on how close they are to Ultimate. Last night at dinner we met two hurricane evacuees and sent them on their way from dinner with directions to the nearest Ultimate location.

Fantastic little ice cream shop. The staff was very pleasant and patient as we sampled a handful of flavors before deciding what to get in our sundaes. They had some unique and creative varieties along with some classics. They also had a handful of dairy free options if thats your thing. If were back in Asheville, this will definitely be a stop on our list!

Drove to both locations, both closed. Hours on the door are different from what their own website, phone recording and google maps records state.

Modest selection of locally made ice creams, sorbets, and coffee-based beverages. Nice to walk into, a clean shop smelled of freshly made waffle cones. That was the good. The bad part was the vegan ice creams, both options bland, tasteless. The sorbet was a bit chewy. In short good ice cream and maybe good coffee but not a place Id go for vegan options or sorbet.

The seating areas are small but the ice cream is unbeatable. The chai ice cream was to die for, but the dark chocolate was a close contender. They have dairy-free options as well. There were little pieces of evidence all around that they care for their community and their customers. Little things that many other ice cream shops dont even consider or think about. It was a lovely end to a hot day.

This is a lovely place to get an ice cream treat. Great tasting ice cream dispensed by a very pleasant young couple. (dont know if theyre a couple but they sure were nice). Wonderful selection and plenty of toppings if you want to make a sundae.

Found this ice cream shop by accident just as we have arrived in Asheville. Good range of interesting flavours.I had the molasses gingerbread in a homemade waffle cone and it was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be back.

Lovely stuff. Our party tried the fresh strawberry, raspberry sorbet and mango-lemonade sorbet. The berrys fresh taste came through strong in both the ice cream and also the sorbet. But the mango-lemonade sorbet was amazing. Kudos to Ultimate for their friendly service too. A little hard to find from Tunnel Road though. It is directly behind Pomedoros restaurant.

This place is wonderful. The ice cream is so smooth and creamy. The staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.

Tried four different flavors and loved them all! All their ice cream start with the same natural base and they even have dairy-free options made with almond milk or sorbets. One of the ice creams was made with a stout for Highland Brewery (local brewery not ten minutes away) and was delicious!

Always Fresh, always local. These guys do it right! The Strawberry ice cream was delicious, as well as the Manna Banana. The homemade waffle cone was amazing too, with the perfect touch of the marshmallow in the bottom so the ice cream didnt leak out. Fantastic!

THE ICE CREAM HERE IS AMAZING. I think we tried about 12 different flavours between the three of us there and it was just about the hardest decision Ive ever had. Ended up with a single scoop cone with a half scoop of their Coffee Heath Bar (my absolute favourite there) and their chocolate chip cookie dough. Definitely go if youre in the area and like ice cream!

Delicious flavors that are always well done & its really worth it to find either shop (Tunnel Rd. or Charlotte St.) you can also look for establishments around the area that serve Ultimate. Ive never had a flavor I didnt love - last visit it was peach - so good and not too sweet!

First time here, and we will now come often. Agree on the amazing brown sugar-bacon-maple ice cream that my hubby made into a sundae with hot fudge and coffee sauce, yum! I had the pumpkin and it was the best ever. So creamy, and all from local ingredients. Such unusual flavors, it was difficult to decide.

Best ice cream in Asheville! Each flavor is rich and leaves you wanting more. I suggest trying one of their house made waffle cones- you can’t go wrong! Great staff who is attentive and kind. Thanks for always being a great treat for my family!

Id give them more stars if possible. Kim Walton was extremely helpful and accommodating. We love Ultimates ice cream (all the flavors) and especially the lavender honey that is seasonal. We were visiting the Asheville area and asked if we could get some. Kim was outstanding and made it happen. The ice cream made there is the perfect balance of sweet (not too) and creamy consistency. We highly recommend this place not only for the ice cream, but the excellent above and beyond attention to making customers happy!

We really enjoyed the ice cream. I was super happy to see several dairy free options as well. My toddler enjoyed his almond milk strawberry ice cream and the kids play nook area!

This was my first time here actually! I got to say, they have this Chai flavored ice cream and thats very unique and tasty! I enjoyed their coffee flavor as well.

Sinfully delicious ice cream! I had a scoop of double dark chocolate and also coconut - both delicious. The location is not convenient unless you happen to be in the area but it is definitely worth driving a bit our of your way if you are near the shop. Enjoy!

I m an old lover of this, most unique and delicious and creative ice cream shop. I eat in. I take out. I bring quarts as gifts. I recommend to visitors in this city. BUT....what happened ?!?!? In the past 5-6 months the quality of this ice cream in this shop has gone to the DOGS! Did you change your chef? Did you change your suppliers? The ice cream flavor is a FRACTION of what it used to be!!! Some of the good old flavors, like Coffee Heathbar, do not taste like coffee; the Khaluha Chocolate is just sweet; the Chocolate Mint is barely minty... This shop was EXQUISITELY EXCELLENT and of late it is just GOOD. Please come back to The Ultimate Ice cream you used to be!!!!

I love living in a town that has multiple local ice cream shops to choose from. Most towns dont even get one, you know.Ultimate is solid. Compared to some chain place like Baskin Robbins or something, their flavors are far more creative, and their sundaes are delicious. I wish they were open later and a bit more conveniently located, so we dont make it there as much as we would otherwise. Too many times weve tried to go, only to remember that they closed at like 19:30 or something.

Excellent local ice cream and a perfect place to stop by for a wide spectrum of custom flavors. The inside doesnt allow for much seating area and benches outside dont give you much of a scenic view, but that doesnt damage my opinion.

Best ice cream in the world. Every flavor is amazing, the sweet cream is a must have. I have pawned and sold everything I own to get more Ultimate Ice Cream, and I regret NOTHING.

Due to the response of Ultimate Ice Cream Company of Asheville to a negative feedback I recently left on Facebook, I would like to withdraw my negative commentary on their company. Not only did they demonstrate their real respect of our civil servants, but showed incredible restraint in the face of a raging keyboard commando. Hands down the best ice cream in Asheville. The service is always great. We dont go as often as we used to due to moving across town last year, but the staff still remember us and exactly how we order our (amazing) sundaes every time we stop by.

Ultimate has great ice cream. I appreciate the flavors of the month that are locally contributing. The kids working however, seem to be disengaged from the clients.

Im highly suspicious of some of the reviews on here. they look like they were written by employees or the owner but we really enjoyed our ice cream. We were craving this ice cream long after our vacation was over. You get a lot of icecream for the money too. I just wish theyd post their sanitation score in a prominent location as required.

The ice cream is always fantastic with lots of unique flavors to choose from and the people who work there seem genuinely happy. The only downside would be that indoor seating is next-to-none and it feels very crowded.

Maple bacon ice cream.. make there own wafle cones.. good quality.. great tasting.. bring own water
