Despite the fact that the State of Oregon has mandated that people must wear masks in all public inside spaces, there were people without masks in the store with whom checkers were conversing and laughing--but not asking to put one on. When I questioned the checker, she told me that the store leadership has told them that they cannot ask customers to put on masks. Not sure that I believe that, but one way or another, this location is in violation of the law.

Great sandwiches from the deli, awesome selection of cheeses and a whole aisle devoted to just about every flavor of chip you could hope for. They have a great selection of stuff and have sales on items you wouldnt expect too, I got a $50 bottle of wine for $20.Staff are helpful and friendly too.

It was fine.. although the bone in Country Style ribs that are on sale were completely out at both location displays. But Kudos to the gentleman that was working in the meat department he said he wasnt a meat cutter by he went back on cooler area and got me some... Great customer service.

Small but nice Safeway. interesting & eclectic mix of customers at night. pretty chill during the day. not much variety in HBA & dairy. lots of energy drinks, tho. we pretty much shopped only here for groceries during our weellong stay. gas here is cheapest around!

My daughter has a tree nut allergy and they were able to prepare an ice cream for her that did not come in contact with nuts. It was delicious. They have gluten-free options too if you needed.

The food should be less expensive in all honesty!!

Safeways always been a favorite of mine ever since I came to that Astoria the people that work there are great theyre right there to help you out if you ever needed and its a usually pretty quick in and out, for your wonderful people at work at Safeway keep up the great work

The Astoria Safeway is one of the best grocery stores on the north coast. Their produce section is especially outstanding compared to local competitors. The produce just looks better and the variety always suits my needs.

Extremely rude cashier. Disrespectful and offensive. The bottle area is a mess, machines are consistently broke and if you go one can over the limit theyll steal your money and refuse to return your cans. There is no limit on the number of cans bought in a day and these retailers are ripping people off for their bottle return money. Ill never shop there or buy gas again. I spend 200 to 300 hundred dollars of gas a week there. Ill go to the coast guard exchange instead plus its cheaper. Beware of the cashier Kristi she is beyond rude.

Everything here is yummy! Kinda small, so you might have a little wait. So grab a menu and try to figure out which awsome meal to have...cant go wrong! 👍

The store has wide isles, friendly staff, plenty of checkers; which provides Customer Service so the shopper doesnt stand in the check-out line too long wishing they hadnt stopped to shop. Its a convenience rather than a nuicence.All and All....I would shop their anytime

I have experienced hostile staff members on 4 different occasions. I will be filing a civil suit.

Its a nice Safeway, smaller than some. Seems like it was low on stock as 2 out of 3 items we were there to get werent available.

Its a great location, but a little on the small side. Their bottle drop services, towards the road is heavily neglected and very dirty. It now is completely broken? Sitting areas are moved to the corner of the building, in the windiest location, and the sidewalks are filthy.Aside from that, its your standard Safeway.

I pulled in to Safeway to get gas. Staff was cool and didnt hassle me about meeting gas in the truck and in a can just a little bit each. And when I was trying to diagnose some of the issues with the vehicle they told me to take as long as I needed didnt hassle me about getting out of the way very kind and courteous

Employee Josh who worked as a feul attendant offered to wash my windows for me while I filled up with gas. My windows were especially dirty and he put some definate elbow grease into getting them clean. Thank you young man.

Standard Safeway. Meat and produce are solid, as is the Starbucks.Deli here is really good, the sandwiches are awesome and the Chinese food is a great deal.

Mask mandate in full effect at this time.Only 1 in 5 customers with mask no one enforcing or handing out masks manager Patrick claims he cant do anything. Very unsafe going against CDC guidelines.

I was getting fuel, the attendant was polite and pumped the gas for me.

This particular Safeway in Gladstone located in a quaint neighborhood, more like what safely used to be, a neighborhood grocery store filled with really nice people that help out all over the place. Never too busy.

Top notch customer service, I feel nothing but love for everyone there, Chuck at the meat counter is my go to guy when I’m planning a big dinner. He knows all the best cuts of meat and all the best deals. Every single checker is friendly and treats me like more than just a customer. I would be lost without them, and I’m not just saying that because they’ve been my only source of human interaction for almost all of 2020.

I dont know if its Safeways fault or bottle drops, it said online that it was a bottle drop whatever, nothing whatsoever to do with bottle drop. So just dont expect to do your bottle drop thing

Great store and location. Big parking lot with fuel service too offering gas and diesel. Adjacent to the Riverwalk. Perfect spot for travelers to food up, fuel up and get a walk in. Awesome selection for locals. Lots of organic items.

There are never enough checkers. Self checkout was packed, not that I like to use it. I dont work there and self checkout is meant for just a few things. The people that work there ate very nice though

Safeways are a great place to shop

Probably one of the more disgruntled locations I have been to. Cashiers are nice, but you can definitely tell that things arent ok behind the curtain.

Nice, clean, well stocked Safeway :) Safety was good, everyone was wearing masks and keeping 6 apart. Pricing was standard, rather than tourist prices, which was great. We especially enjoyed the Sushi! It was fresh, and flavorful; our favorites were the Spicy Tuna and Crunchy California. Polite, friendly staff. Excellent location for shopping near Long Beach. We enjoyed our quick trip in for a small contingency of groceries and Sushi snack ;)

I do all my shopping here thier meat is always better than I find at any other store the meat department there is always willing to help with any questions or problems service is always great at the safeway I go to

The pharmacy is so AMAZINGLY helpful! We were there due to running from the fires, and even though my mom had different insurance (keiser) and mine being military and difficult, not to mention they are always super busy, they spent hours making sure we got the medication we needed and were unable to grab in our rush. They called us after hours to check on how we were doing and assure us they were doing everything they could to help get our meds, and I will never be able to convey my appreciation enough

Yeah Im down here in Astoria today Oregon taking the puppies to the beach play. Day. and of course I would stop by over there at Safeway because when Im down here its only a couple of places I know that I like their food and Safeway is one of themtheir hot deli is fantastic I always get the orange chicken and rice for me and the girls you cant go wrong. Straightforward and simple you gotta love it. so yes I would swing by there and see if you can hook yourself up for lunch or early or late dinner and rock and roll do some cruising. Or maybe hit the beach go check out some waves. remember you got to listen to the surfrajettes that girl group or Jan and Dean The Beach boys when you down here is religious haha. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁my recommendations for the dayOld Baron out and about. I love my town and I love this Market. It has a great variety of items especially the produce department. But Im really Nest at the fact that theyre not requiring people to wear masks in the store. We have people licking ice cream and putting it back in the freezers and yet Safeway doesnt take my health serious enough to ask customers to wear a mask. The message that conveys is that my health and my well-being is not really important to Safeway and honestly it makes me not want to go there
