Called Butcher Brothers across Jacksonville. My husband put his 76 Shovelhead in the shop after being told it could be rebuilt in a timely manner. The bike had some used and new parts in a box that needed put properly on the bike. My husband hollowed it out and was rebuilding. However, after 1 year of Jeff working on it, it is completely destroyed. We now have to sell his dads bike (who passed away few years ago). Originally Brad was working on it, but after tellilng us Its just another bike. I need to do quick jobs for money, we switched to Jeff working on it. He was consistently incorrect with time needed to fix and using used parts without asking us. After getting the bike back 3-4 times, each time something dangerous happened driving it from the shop: clutch lever bolt popped off, chain tensioner bolt popped off, front axel bolt popped off, head gasket leaked 2 different times, front cylinder leak, rear cylinder leak in jug (had bore out and had to buy another one again to bore out), exhaust bolt threading came out of casing, oil pan was not mounted in (only held by primary casing), a quart of oil in primary casing on a dry clutch, headlight disconnected, no air filter in carbonator, clutch pack redone but still slipped, screw in front sprocket causing to knock against the back side of primary causing scratch grooves into primary and pulling main shaft loose, no L key locking in spline to front primary, and small other things overlooked when they put together. Driving the bike not even a mile these things happened and almost caused serious damage to my husband and myself. We spent a couple thousand to have rebuilt after the owner agreed he could fix it in a timely manner (he told us a few weeks). If you need your bike worked on go to Black Gold (in Daytona) and One at a Time (Jacksonville). They are honest mechanics who will give you and your bike respect. Since we are young, Dirtbag thought my husband did not know anything about his bike (hes worked at a Harley shop for over a year) and talked to us as so. My husband wouldve worked on it if we had the tools and didnt move to Florida from a different state. It is such a shame to have so much damage, time, and money into a bike that means a lot to us. We paid everything up front and were respectful. When asked for invoices and time of completion, it took several calls before we would receive one. If you have to take your bike here, dont just sell it. I know of another Shovelhead owner that had their bike there for 3 years who made payments! Their reputation is shot in Jacksonville so just dont go there.
Jeff and the Dirtbag crew are Awesome! If you want Quality work performed by honest, hard working and knowledgeable shop then come here. I highly recommend Dirtbag Choppers, they ROCK!Thanks again Jeff for recommending the SS carb!Super quick response with lots of balls!
Great people and excellent work professional results.
Brought my 1977 Triumph Bonneville to these guys/gals to get the carbs synced and tuned, and also to put tires on the bike. When you walk in the door you’ll have a super rad shop dog great you, which is cool. They had my bike for a little while, but ended up identifying an exhaust leak which affected overall performance. Fixed all the issues, synced everything up, and put some new shoes on the ole girl, now she runs better than she ever has, and for a VERY reasonable price. Overall fantastic group of folks, very knowledgeable, and will be bringing my bikes back for sure
This shop will take your money...... you will not get a timely repair or a cost effective repair!! All service members refrain from doing business with this shop. You are it’s main revenue. I paid him with a trade to repair my 1996 road king. All it needed was an oil pump, new pistons, rings, rods and cylinders. After two attempts at it mr Jeff Gordon trying to repair my motorcycle, I had to retrieve my motorcycle from his shop. He is good for machining spacers for wheels, powder coat your own work because he outsources to the lowest bidder, as well as the machine work on cylinders and he still can’t tell the difference between a Vtwin engine and an evo. Even if he returns the truck to me I wouldn’t remove this review.
Called this morning to see how much it would cost to tighten my drive belt on my 06’ Electra Glide, price was just what I needed for a retired budget. Told me to bring it in and could wait today. Not only did they do the work I asked for but went the extra mile aired the shocks and installed new front bumper. It’s business’ Like this that I will continue to support and share with friends. Thanks y’all for a great repair experience.
Very honest and not out to rip you off. My VStar handles much better after the service. I will continue to have my VStar serviced at Dirtbag! Thank you guys!!!
Sold me a kick stand for the wrong bike, year, and cc. Told me store credit only. Options were: another wrong bike part or 20 yr old sportbike gloves. With the chance of stolen parts.
I dropped my bike of to Jeff sometime in May for a ton of work to be done. Paint, airbrush, wheels, tires, breaks, seat and so on. After reading some of the reviews my wife and I were a bit nervous and were crossing our fingers the whole time that we would get what we asked for. We did not.....When the time came to go pick the bike up after it was finished, we instantly realized we didnt get the finished product WE wanted. WE GOT SOOOO MUCH MORE !!! Jeff and his team put so much time, love and detail into their work that it far exceeded any and all expectations we had. Jeff even added tiny details I never thought of that really make a huge difference. We are truly blown away.If you are going to do business with this shop, keep in mind it is family owned and operated. They treat their customers like they apart of their family. I cant recommend them enough.Cliff#fatboyonafatboy
Love this place . real good guys. Im all about supporting your local shops so go check them out for custom work. 100% D/L
I traded them an S&S carb and air cleaned a few years back for a used light bar and some tank emblems, got the light bar that day, went back and called many times over then next 6 months and nothing on the emblems. Kept getting the story that I would have them shortly, never heard from them unless I called, never got got them
Good service very knowledgeable and helpful. Willing to spend the time to help you understand the issues. Top notch work!!!
My brother took a transmission to them to have seals and bushings replaced 4 times, and was told each time that it was ready to be picked up and it was not repaired correctly in 4 attempts. They paid no attention to the information provided by the owner of the motorcycle and loaded it with incorrect parts and twice they didnt even get the seals in correctly. When they did get the correct parts they just removed the incorrect parts and stuffed the right ones in, but didnt bother to recheck clearance tolerances. Needless to say it had to be taken to another shop to have it done. It just doesnt seem like good business to us, 4 trips back and forth and right at two months to do a couple hour job and it still was not done correctly or to customer expectations.
Great place to get work done, and especially if you need something custom made
People who worked there have been extremely nice helping us through the insurance process of getting the bike fixed
Worst service ever and I have been to many shops. Kept bike for a month, finally had to go get bike. Was not running, took home found it was put together with used parts. Gave them an antique Harley and $500. They want more money for not fixng bike. They even kept the keys to my bike, had to call police to go with my husband just to get my keys, then she threw them outside with used parts she put on my bike. Do not let them work on your bike!!!!!!!
They did a full service on my softtail, were very fast and a lot cheaper than other shops. Also had great deals on parts I would definititly recommend this company!
Very professional, fast, and cheap. Fixed my problems quickly and had a large selection of cheap parts. I would definititly recommend this company to every bicker out there.
After 3+ years of lies and broken promises, I went to pick my bike up only to find out things were much worse than I thought...Several things had been stolen off of my bike and thousands of dollars in parts were missing (primary, rockers, carburetor, air cleaner). After 2+ weeks of “give me time to find them” and more lies, my only option is to pursue legal action.
I had my 94 Harley FXSTS evo engine with 160K miles completely rebuilt (top and lower) in March 2017 (Brad, a retired Navy Machinist, did the wrenching). He also replaced the neck and wheel bearings, ignition, stator, new rear tire, fixed the leak in my primary and few other things to prep it for a cross country trip. Less than two months after the rebuild, I rode the bike from Jax to California up to Idaho to West Virginia and back to Florida. The trip was a total of 8629 miles through 26 states and the mountain ranges in both coast. The BIKE RAN GREAT the entire trip and does not leak any oil. Thanks Jeff and Brad...I high recommend and completely trust you guys to work on my Harley. Go Navy!
Great group of guys, all kinds of old parts.
Ive been going to Dirtbag Choppers for almost 2 years, and from day 1 have never had an issue. Parts, service, advice, you name it, all solid. Good new/used part inventory and prices are easy on the wallet too. I was just there last night with my newly finished hardtail chopper to have them look it over and within 5 minutes Jeff found and corrected a few big issues that I had completely overlooked, one of which may have lead to a catastrophic failure and a very bad day for me ( I forgot to locktite my bolts on my rear pulley, big mistake because even after torque checking...the vibrated loose!) But he caught it right away and even though i got there 5 mins to close he took the time to check the bike over and didnt ask for a penny, and sent me down the road making sure i was safe to go. The custom metal work is excellent as well. All in all, these are good honest people with a good shop that makes some bad ass bikes.
This place sucks !!!! They always make excuses ! I brought my Honda cbr in and they said it would take 3 days to diagnose ...... 3 days ! They let me down big time I made an appointment to have my bike towed in by one of there guys and they never called or showed . I call them back and they said hes no where to be found ... I finally took the bike in the shop my self and they said it would be no problem diagnosing it and they would call me next day to give me an update 4 o clock rolls by I get no phone call so I call them back and they got really pissy with me . Save your self the hassle and dont go to dirtbag choppers !! THERE NAME SAYS IT ALL THEY ARE DIRTBAGS .
Had my bike for almost a month, took it in with a problem, left with the same problem and over 200 dollars less. I fixed the problem with a toothpick and 15 minutes unplugging the master cylinder. Will push my bike 100 miles home before i take it back
DO NOT TRUST THIS GUY I PROMISE YOU THE NAME OF THE SHOP SAYS IT ALL! He had my bike for over 8 months doing a engine bore and rebuild. He neglected to tell me that he didnt have the ability to tune the bike after the rebuild until over a month after he gave it back to me and I had to complain about the terrible gas mileage. This is something you would think would be included in $3,000 engine build/bore, but no it apparently never crossed his mind. Also after the bike was finally completed I had to return to the shop on 3 different occasions to fix a fairly major oil leak, which is another thing he could not do. He promised my a high heat resistant wrinkle black paint for the engine that has chipped off about 75% of. My bike is now at Harley Davidson and they say that the entire engine needs to be torn back down and rebuilt the RIGHT WAY because the oil is leaking from everywhere. There are parts missing off my suspension and oil lines that are dry rotted, and to top it all off, Dirtbag doesnt even know all the parts they put on my bike so Harley wouldnt even be able to do a tune without tearing back into the engine just to measure the pistons.
Had the hard to find parts for my 94 Electra Glide. Fraction of new cost.
Went in for a repair part with my sister in law and looking for bike replacement parts. Hopefully it’s all fixed up now!
If you need to work on your bike so you have the parts you probably need
