Owasco Marina, has a 4.5 rating; the company persuades people, and coworkers to write five star reviews and has been known to being incompetent for their work, had a boat dropped off there and was told it was going to be within the next two weeks; I waited almost four months to tell me that Id have to wait an extra week because their was a few things to be finished up, finally get it back, put it into the water to be stranded on the lake, talking to the owner he claimed to leave my boat on the side of the road because I didnt agree with the work and the price that was done, after spending $4,000 and the boat dying on the water, the owner tells me its another $1,000. Arguably that I didnt receive the service that I expected from the Marina, I dont recommend going here... Skaneateles Marina is much more suitable for active boaters and fishermen.

Bill was so helpful and patient with us in purchasing a new boat trailer. He even delivered it for no extra charge! I would recommend them a thousand times!

With our fishing experience getting more involved, we have the need and want of a boat to get to the next level. Maybe five years ago we went to a boat show to just see what is out there as far as boats for fishing and cruising our local lakes and water ways. We talked to a gentleman at Owasco Marine and he was absolutely the best for information and qualities of boats and what to look for. Fast forward to yesterday, we found the gentleman was the owner and we talked to him again. Any question we had he answered quickly. The gentleman, Jeff Thurman, the owner, showed us an indepth look at a fishing boat . His down to earth approach was delightful and informative. Did not sugar coat anything. Also, the Marina handles every need you have including storage for colder months. Give the place a look and you will be pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended. Pricing, by the way, is very competitive with other manufacturers. They deal in Crestline boats.

Terrible service. Dropped off a motor for plugs, oil change and impeller change. Was told it would be done within a couple days. A week later I left to go pick it up which was an hour and 45min drive. I called 15 minutes before I got there so they knew I was coming and was informed it wasnt ready after I was promised it would be. They didnt even give me a phonecall to let me know there were difficulties. A week later it was done and I picked it up. Today I got a day off and went to go fishing being pretty excited that was taken care of. Put the boat in fire up the motor ran great. Shift into reverse and then try to shift forward and it wouldnt go. Stuck in reverse. Drive back to the shop and wait for a mechanic to show up and he struggles to figure out the problem. Finally he realized he forgot a nut while putting lower unit back on. This fixed the issue but not without 2 wasted trips that I shouldve never had to make to get there. Go to talk to owner to see if they were willing to make it right. He acted like there was no problem with this service and that their time was more valuable than mine. I figured I was being fair by asking for just $100 of the $115per hour labor rate back that I paid. My total bill was $236 so they were still profiting off me even after jerking me around. He wouldnt budge off a $50 offer. I refused but am far from done following through with this pathetic experience. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

I am a highly trained marine technician that worked for the best service department in the finger lakes region. After years of traveling to my job in Geneva I decided to take a job closer to home with owasco marine. It did not take me long to figure out that it was a big mistake. I worked under the senior technician and I was in disbelief that this tech was there head technician! He has a very limited experience at best and in my past job he would have been considered entry level technician. The work I was asked to perform and the manner in which I was asked to perform and charge customers for was criminal. The majority of service being provided is performed by uncertified temp help with little to no experience and the level of incompetence is staggering. I would think twice before having anything serviced at owasco marine.

My Volvo Penta SX M stern Drive was making grinding and rumbling noises and I had Owasco Marine replace the gimbal bearing in 2017. I asked them to confirm the issue before proceeding with any repairs and the said it was the gimbal bearing. Last year I put maybe 5 hours on the boat, but took it back to Owasco Marine because the rumbling noise from the stern drive was getting louder. They found nothing wrong. I now realize the main issue was the u joints that were banging around when the stern drive was in any position other than a sweet spot when it was quiet. They did not notice the obvious wear on the u joints and to make matters worse they didn’t install a gasket or P Tex a gasket where the stern drive meets the transom, thus allowing water in infiltrate the bellows and the u joints. Not good. I’m glad I finally found a good boat mechanic to diagnose and confirm what was wrong, and he is Mercruiser guy, not Volvo Penta. Owasco Marine is supposed to Volvo Penta knowledgeably. Presently, I cannot recommend them for any complicated boat repairs.
