Garage door spring broke on the morning of the 4th of July! Called to request that someone come out the following day & David promptly returned my call & set up an appointment for the morning. The torque spring on our garage door snapped and the door came crashing down, damaging the top panel where the arm attaches. Several garage door companies said the panel couldnt be replaced (Wayne-Dalton, too old, wouldnt match with the existing door, etc) and I would need a new door ($900-1200). David, from Smart Garage Door called me and I described what had happened. He said he would come out within two hours (all other companies couldnt come out for as much as a week). He was on time and very personable and professional. As money was an issue (always and especially with COVID and not working) I knew he was trying hard to figure a way to repair/salvage the door. He was using his imagination and began a repair that he said was how he would have originally installed the door. I could tell he was proud of the work he did and took pictures of the fix. I cannot imagine any other company doing what David did. The price was affordable. Once he figured out how he was going to tackle this very custom repair, he worked quickly. Springs on garage door broke. When I called for appointment they were there in less then two hours and had them replace very quickly and very reasonable price. Need garage door rollers replace as well. Didnt have the parts but came back next day and replaced them with same excellent serves as day before. I hired this company through Thumbtack. They were supposed to come out for 25 dollars and diagnose the problem. The tech was asked repeatedly what the issue was and told me give me a minute. He messed with the eye and said 89 dollars. I told him that he was supposed to let me know the issue and let me know how much it would be to fix it. At that point his response was I can unfix it. Customers who hire you to diagnose a problem for 25 dollars are not obligated to hire you to fix it. Customers should be told what the problem is and how much it is to fix it which your company failed miserably to do.

Called to have a spring replaced on my garage door. I explained to the customer service agent that I would be price shopping with 2 other garage door service companies. The tech showed and after explaining to him I was price shopping, he immediately began to give me attitude. Refused to give me a official estimate in writing and said unless I accepted the price they offered on the spot he was leaving .Not only was he RUDE but he told me if they were aware I was price shopping they would of never showed up. I would VERY leery of using a company that is not willing to offer an official estimate. Shady business practices to say the least.
