The man working behind the meat place was really nice and jovial. The guy at the paying counter was ok but he could use a little smile. Overall it was a good experience and things were not over priced. Hope they stay the same.
It’s amazing shopping at the SouthWest Market because they have varieties of African food to buy. I could have given 5 star rating but I have a problem with ground egusi. I don’t know will keep sand in it like y’all mixed sand and egusi together. It’s annoying to buy something you like but can’t enjoy it. It’s not once or twice or trice. The sand situation is unbearable. I’m eating my precious egusi soup with a vexatious mind because of sandNote: Please my advice is,1) The egusi should be washed before it’s grind.2) If y’all have a particular supply you guy should talk to person to change it’s processing method because it’s a good one and you can still see full egusi seeds3) Or the egusi should not be grind again. Allow it for the customers to grind themselvesI believe you can do better on itSHALOM
Great fresh bread. Awesome meat pies. If you dont mind spices then try everything at the deli at least once.
Nice store to get your groceries. Africa Nigerian meals are great too
Home away from home. Makes me think of the local eateries I patronize back home. You can buy African food, specifically Nigerian food. Their Jollof rice is very rich in flavor. I mainly go there for their savory pie.
Great African Market. They offer a wide variety of mostly nigerian goods with freshly made selection of nigerian dishes available a la carte. They have rice, goat meat, porridge, puff puff, meat pie, egg roll, designer stew etc. If youre looking for a place to do your African food shopping, then theres no better place.
Customer service is so poor. Place is so unhygienic.I still get my jellof rice though. I mean why not.
Food display was poor, boxes of yams stacked and not looking good. 3 stars bc I was craving Nigerian food.
Its a great place to shop. I was able to get everything I need.
This is a nice market. I always go there to buy groceries.
Ive bought the Frozen okra soup twice from here but when I heat it up, it smells and tastes sour. This has happened on 2 occasions and Im very disappointed. I cant believe that I have to experience this twice, Im skeptical about buying any cooked food from these guys. So disappointed and irritated
I love this place
The cashiers need to be trained better. I have good experience shopping, but checkout time is always a disaster. Only ONE cashier lady know the process better. EVERY other cashier dont know the process and they have poor attitude. When you ask for the manager, I am always told no manager on duty. This is my third experience with a poor service at checkout point. The cashier said I can only pay with a debit card. The cashier wanted my pin number before I can use the reward card. The cashier ended up entering information manually. Also, please clean the carts. Thank You!
Really nice place to find certain African spices. Plus I love that they have a meat market in the back of the store full of fresh fish, goat meat, etc...
I normally don’t give reviews, but I felt compelled to give one in this case. I called this store today, 07/12/2020 to about 1340 to inquire about their goat head. First of all, it took forever for someone to answer the phone, then, when someone finally answered, the guy stated that he wasn’t sure if they had goat head in stock and wouldn’t be able to find out because he was busy.... With ringing up customers and when asked if he could get someone else to assist me, his exact words were” not at the moment” and then hung up the phone.. I do understand that staff could get overwhelmed at times, especially, when short headed. But in this particular case, this staff made no effort or attempt to get someone else to attend to me which was a very very poor customer service attitude and approach. Owner or owners of this store, need to train their staff on importance of good customer service!
I love this store it is way cleaner than the market in Houston and they have almost everything!
They sold us rotten coconut. The supervisor refused to take it back after showing him our receipt. He was very rude. Stay away from their coconuts. They make it hard for us to support our African brothers
The store is clean and staff in the store department is mostly courteous but generally they need to look more friendly and have a smile on their face while attending to customers. The goods are reasonably priced and it has a good selection of West African food items. The red bell peppers are the cheapest I have seen in Austin. The restaurant food that I have tried was a bit spicy.
I loveeeeeeeee the food from their kitchen especially the jollof rice and Afang soup 😉😁
Too spicy restaurant food. Had to use antacids after consuming the restaurant food from too much pepper! Ha! Overpriced items. A bit disappointed cos I love their Houston store. More reasonable prices and more variety there. Dont know if this is a franchise but really disappointed. Very average compared to the Houston branch. Just do something about it guys. This review is so you can make changes. I now resort to bulk buying when in Houston. #Okbye.
Have had great experiences with the management and staff... love this place...
I used to live in Dallas and I enjoyed buying and eating the frozen meals sold at the southwest Market they have there. But the frozen meals Ive bought from this location have been a huge disappointment, Im actually in serious gastrointestinal distress as Im writing this review.I bought 4 different soups and so far the two Ive opened were really disappointing and this last one gave me tummy ache. I will not be eating the remaining packs, and I will not be returning to your store. You guys are going to kill someone with food poisoning. Please institute some quality control measures.
Watch their Kanda (🐄 skin) i got nonsense from them
Good store to get your African stuff.
Great service. Clean and organized. Only worry, you have to actually hand your credit card over to the cashier to swipe. Be mindful of any hidden skimmers. Security is a big deal now.
I love buying my groceries here because they have all the African foods.
Home cooking, great taste.
Went to buy granuts to cook ndole soup. All their packages were rotten. Yet, they were on the shelves. I noticed it because I was looking for granuts that day. That means there are severals.others rotten items on the shelves too. It shows the moral of this business. Im highly disappointed.
Lovely small sized Nigerian grocery store.
If I can give a half of star I would. The manager at this location is very unprofessional, rude, disrespectful, has no customer service skills at all. I always love supporting black businesses but I will never spend another dime at this establishment. The manager needs to go an have an attitude adjustment. And he really needs to learn how to talk to and treat people.
Very respectful staffsHelp customers in finding what they need. Good service but checking out is slow. Needs a faster machine for faster process. Checking out takes too long.
Great service
Best African Store in town! Their meatpie is really good. Definitely recommend to all Africans & Non-Africans all over!
I get my tilapia prepared and fried the way I want it
Affordable for some and expensive for others its one of my best place
Farmers Market is a great place to shop. The price is right, the personnel are friendly and cautious, and the food is delicious!!!
The item layout was good but a lot can still be worked upon. Ill always support a black owned business anyday, anytime
Everything you need for delicious african cuisine. The premade food is also quite delicious
One of the best kept secrets for authentic African seasonings, cuisine and atmosphere.
I used to live in nigeria and love beef suya. Main reason I came to this store a few months ago was for the suya. But unfortunately I was disappointed. The meat quality was not good. It seemed the meat on the stick was just long pieces of chewy fat. Maybe (hopefully) they have corrected that now, in which case I would love to visit again
Disrespectful and rude are the first words to come to mind. Ive been there 3x and each time it is the same. My son loves Egusi soup and fufu. So, when he asks for it I go about gathering the ingredients. Before this store opened, I would frequent the Lamar and Rundberg stores. In all the years I shopped at those stores NEVER was I disrespected or treated rudely. My first time at this location my son and I approached it as just another shopping trip. While we were shopping I kept getting strange looks. Im used to it. However, my son never noticed it until we went to this store. Why are they looking at you like that? IDK and we keep shopping. The guy in the meat market acted as if I was wasting his time. The guy at the hot food counter them treated my son the same way. By the time we made it to the checkout, all I wanted to do was leave. 2nd trip, meat market dude, different guy, same attitude AND used the same utensil to scoop goat and smoked turkey. Waited at the register 5mins then decided to call the store to get someones attention. A clerk came, I hung up. She asked if that was me calling. Yes!3rd and final time. Before we went to the store my son wanted to know why I was going back. Bc, I try to be fair. 3 strikes is fair, I think. This time I said maybe if my son does the talking things will be different. Meat market, ok. 3.41 pounds of goat instead of the two we wanted. I just nodded that it was ok. We make it to the register and the girl takes at least 4mins discussing something with the patron before me, after her purchase was completed. She finally entered my items, told me the total, I produced my card to pay, she extends her hand and asks credit or debit, Credit, she slaps the pen and receipt on the counter and literally throws my receipt in a bag, all of this while giving me the ugliest look. On the way out my son wants to know why she was so rude. All I could say is, IDK; however, this is the last time they get my business.I really like the non-frozen goat. However, Ill take frozen goat with courtesy and respect any day. My dollars will go back to the Lamar and Rundberg stores.
The meals they prepared for us yesterday was so delicious, ranging from the jollof rice, assorted soup with pounded yam, meat pies etc. they are very good in Catering and also very moderate in price.
This is just my personal experience. Customer service horrible specially the girls at the kitchen area very rude .
Great, best place to shop for African food with reasonable prices.
Beautiful people with great attitudes towards other cultures I love it
Good but Still needs alot more stocking.
Terrible management. I bought a 10 pounds bag of red beans and it had very bad smell. The supervisor, Unman, on duty smelled it and said it smelled normal to him. He asked to wait for the store manager, Henshaw, for exchange. When Henshaw arrived he started arguing with me and did not offer to exchange the product.I strongly recommend for customers to be ware of buying food products, especially prepared food from this place.
My favorite place to go for African groceries and fresh meat/fish
Most disrespectful place I’ve ever shopped at. I was warned by a friend who stopped going there sur to the managers disrespect in particular but still have them a chance. I spend at least a $100 there each week but they find it wise enough to be disrespectful.I do not advice that place to anyone.
The shop is still new, so certain items are missing, but overall its a good place get ingredients.
Such nice and clean place. The food there is delish!
I always find my African food items and spices
It a nice place and good staff, lovely Africa foods at a good rate.
Getting better...
Quality is down a little since opening, but still great selection.
If you’re looking to eat, shop and get a taste of Africa the Southwest Farmers Market on Highway 6 in Katy Texas is the place to be.
Glad they open and somewhat affordable
Excellent selection, from grocery to hot, fresh food.
Awesome place to.shpp for African food
Got the Naija Jollof rice but they had the burnt rice hidden all below the plate, disappointed...
This place has a wide selection of products but the customer service is very sub par. The staff dont really seem to care a lot of the time.
They have very nice food.
Any food Nigerian / Africa, you will see here. Great products, good prices
Excellent customer service and great variety of merchandise.
Clean store, merchandise displayed well. However, disappointed with poor service at check out. Clerk was unfriendly, frowned, and made no eye contact.
Good Nigerian food

Bad customer service
Im African so what can I say my favorite spot
Everything you need under one roof, cooked and uncooked Nigerian foods.
Not all Africa products are there
Good but not great
I found what I was looking for when couldnt any place else.
