This is our go to liquor store! They always have such a good selection, especially their wines! We have recently moved to Dripping Springs and every chance we get we head over to South Lamar and see what new wines Will has gotten on the shelves. Just an all around great atmosphere, the guys working are always willing to help. Highly recommended!

Great clean cabinet filled to your hearts desire with alcoholic beverages and the makings of them- counter cat knew a few things about what would make great mixers for multiple styles of drink. Very nice place.

Heavenly selection. I got frenet-branca. Had a hard time choosing which Texas beers I wanted. Also, I got a half gal bottle of Willett Pot Still. Feeling guilty yet 😊. Tequila!

First place in Austin I found Hamilton Rum and Barbancourt White. Making quarantine a little bit easier!

I have been shopping this place since it was Oak Hill liquors in an old church on West Ben White boulevard. They have a great selection, and a very knowledgeable staff. They have some whiskeys under glass that you cant find anywhere else. Definitely worth the visit.

Wine selection was actually pretty poor, and is run by hipster dudes with, well, a different definition of etiquette. Prices are a bit high. Basically no reason to go there other than convenience.

Great place to buy beer, wine and/or spirits in South Austin. I found the selection of wine and spirits quite good, but found myself wishing their Belgian beer options were more numerous. However, I was able to find quality Greek options, such as raki, metaxa and mastixa. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well, and I look forward to returning in the near future.

This is my go to place to find harder to find whiskey/ bourbon. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and honestly don’t laugh at your face when you ask them questions. They have amazing selections of just about everything.

Few weeks late but I wanna start by saying “Thank You” to Pete for getting my Saturday started on the right foot! I have only had one other conversation with Pete prior to this visit (Mostly because I’m in and out grabbing one of my daily drinkers) but I always hear him interacting with other customers and he is always friendly and helpful. He Never speaks down, never is rude, and is always willing to talk to people about what they’re searching for.I frequent this store as often as I can, it’s a little out of my way, but the guys working there always make it a pleasant stop and the prices don’t make you feel like you’re being taken advantage of. I stopped in a few Saturdays ago after popping into another store where I had to do a double take at the prices to make sure I was reading them right. (Allocated or not, charging more than double MSRP is insulting.) Needless to say I doubt I’ll be going back there, and after the great transaction with Pete I think this will be my only stop when I’m hunting something new on the Southside of ATX. The selection is great here and prices are fair!Also.. wanted to add that all of the staff here really know their juice. Got a question about something your looking for or something similar to it? they’re gonna have an answer for you. Bourbon, whiskey, rum, wine, beer... doesn’t matter.Top to bottom top notch place.

The selection and service at this store are exceptional. If youre looking for something in particular, they will help you find it. Theres also an excellent selection of local, Texas made spirits for sale. The store is small, so everything is tightly packed given the number of different products.

I was there a few weeks ago and again last week. I was ultimately pleased and completly enjoyed the on point customer service provide by a young man named William. He was informative about promotions,easy cocktail recipes and seemed to genuinely enjoy his job! Too often we see people in a customer service position that provide only dissatisfaction. Not Will! Thank you again for the help and hope your attention detail does not go unnoticed!

Ive been going to South Lamar Wine and Spirits since it moved there from being the Oak Hill Liquor Store. Pete knows his trade and always makes great recommendations. If they dont have what you need, they can usually order it for you.

Pete does a fantastic job at placing new brands. Listens to customers that have product requests. Specializes in products not found elsewhere. This is a classy, high-end retailer with excellent customer service. Highly recommend!

Ive been going to this liquor store since they were located in Oak Hill. They know their stuff and are happy to make custom orders for you.

From the moment I walked in the guy behind the counter growled on the phone and to his co-worker that was milling about. He answered the phone, what do you want now?! at one point. Complained to me about the rain coming off the building onto his truck that was parked in the spot closest to the customer door. I will NEVER return to this place. I have never felt so awkwardly agressed. Even though my go-to scotch is $7 cheaper, Id rather pay the 7 and have a pleasant experience. Avoid.

A nice selection of unique top shelf liquors at a reasonable price point. Location is convenient to downtown with adequate parking. I have stopped by here several times to pickup a bottle to give as a gift and its always pretty easy to find something I am satisfied with.

Please hire someone who knows something about wine. I asked about the difference in flavor profiles between two bottles of Taittinger. So the guy starts reading the labels to me. So I thank him and say I’m just going to go with the one I’m familiar with. Then he starts reading from a website as he’s checking me out, explaining the grapes used for the one I didn’t go with. I wanted a flavor profile, not an explanation of Grand Cru grapes and terroir so I cut him off. It was like the ultimate mansplaining experience. He knew literally nothing about the product, and couldn’t be bothered to ask a fellow employee who may have a bit more knowledge. Or just say “I don’t know.” He managed to be grumpy, though, when I cut him off, explaining again that I just wanted to know the difference in flavor profiles. A very annoying experience.

As soon as walked in the store somebody ordered this old guy to follow me if I was a criminal. So I picked a bottle of wine that was priced at $7.99 so when I went to the cashier to pay for it there was a lady in front of me and I waited and waited, and for a while there was nobody helping anybody at the cashier line. There was a guy who had to tell the cashier several times to take care of the lady. When they finally took care of her it has been quite a few time has passed. When they finally got to me the bottle of wine I thought was $7.99 was actually $16.99. The guy explained to me that bottles get put into the wrong place all of the time. I then did not want that bottle and got another one. the guy did offer a 10% discount by I was so pissed off that I said no. I am never going back there again, terrible service.

Their price point is high. I was over charged for a bottle of bourbon that I was led to believe was a hard find. They only sell 1 at a time etc.. BS Just found the same at Specs for $39 and told they do sell out but its on the shelf often.
