Forbidden Fruit could be my new favorite.This was my first visit to Forbidden Fruit, and a very positive one. Things I really appreciated were: the open box policy where the boxes were open to take toys and look, feel, smell, or whatever; there werent all the cheap usual brands mixed in with quality items; the variety was excellent (many choices of nipple clamps, medical toys, clitoral simulators, books, anal play and more) while the bachelorrette area wasnt overdone in comparison; the person working wasnt intrusive yet was knowledgeable and helpful; there are educational programs you can attend!In all, I was very pleased with my experience of the store and left with a new toy in support of such a business and most importantly for my upcoming pleasure!

Forbidden Fruit is an Austin institution and a must visit for those seeking personal toys and expert advice. I recently attended a womens centered toy demo (all fem identities inclusive! FF is LGBTQ+ supportive without fault), and was impressed by the care and thoughtfulness the staff displayed while explaining all manner of products. Theres is a culture of body and sex positivity that is clear when interacting with the staff, and it made me feel comfortable expressing particular needs as a transgender woman myself. I walked away with a toy Im incredibly happy with and fit exactly what I was needing. I cant be thankful enough :)

It was at the Forbidden Fruit that my wife and I had a most enjoyable shopping experience that will be hard for any other sex shop to top. We arrived a few minutes before they closed (unknowingly) and the well educated staff made it a point that we looked at all that was offered without rushing. Conversation took place as if we were old friends they hadnt seen in a while and this was the biggest difference I noticed from other shops of the same nature. in addition to that, there were several vintage toys on display including a violet wand that looked to be authentic grin the late forties or early fifties. The quality of the toys offered was outstanding with a decent range of prices, and there were cheaper toys for the frugal (of lower quality of course). We will most certainly be visiting the Forbidden Fruit many more times in the future. My advice... only bring what you can spend because, if not, youll spend way too much after you see all the things that you just have to have.

This little shop--and its owner--made history. Not only by being the first of its kind in the Austin area, perhaps the entire state, but also by successfully challenging in court Texas unconstitutional obscenity law that forbade the sale of sex toys. The store started out on E. 6th Street but in recent years relocated to its current spot in Hyde Park. They offer a variety of devices catering to a wide variety of tastes and kinks. Occasionally they conduct classes, too. If youre interested in sex-positive lifestyles, this is a must-see place. Support your locally-owned businesses!

The pink haired lady went out of her way to genuinely ruin our experience, and even made remarks about being bi-sexual to my girlfriend who also felt uncomfortable making for an insanely awkward experience. This should be a safe haven for secret interests, not a harassment environment.
