Best of all, I found several at various price-points that were all comfortable. I ended up going with a mid-price range one but I would have been happy with even the cheapest, budget-friendly option if it had been all I could afford. **UPDATE**. I went back and bought the mattress!! Last night was my first night sleeping on it. It was super comfortable and I had a great night sleep. Mike helped me load it and was very fast and efficient. Still recommend 100%.I was looking at mattresses all day today and went to 5 different stores to look and compare. I will definitely be back this weekend to get my mattress from Mike. He was very nice and patient and allowed me to look around as long as I wanted to. I think I tried every mattress in the store... Mike helped my wife and I buy a king size mattress and box springs with absolutely no sales pressure but excellent advice when asked. We must have spent at least 2 hours in the show room looking and laying on the different models. He even let us return the set of box springs for the low profile model when the standard size was too high in our frame at home. We highly recommend him and Discount Mattress. Oh and the business may say Discount but the quality is top notch with many brands and styles to choose from.

Dont visit this place. The staff, owner are very unprofessional, they just want to sell their mattress & werent even ready to shows us around the store for options. There is no warranty of any sorts. No idea what would happen if the mattress wasnt in shape. No wonder that the place looked so deserted!! You buy the mattress, pay them the money they demand & walk out!! No customer service at all. There are way better mattress stores around South Austin that offer better mattress & service than discount mattress.

For the longest time Ive wanting to buy a bed. So I asked my sister about the beds she bought for my nephews and she told me that she got it at discount mattress and she directed me to the location. When I got to discount mattress there was a family waiting at door because Mike left a note saying that hell back in 10 minutes he just went to the warehouse to pickup the new beds. When he got back, he introduced himself to us and we got down to business. At the end we left with comfortable beds purchased at a great price. Getting a mattress can be really painful, but this was not the case for us when we visited this store. We showed up right before they were going to close, unfortunately, but even then, we did not feel rushed or like we were being annoying. The owner was really kind and friendly, he was honest, and like others have mentioned, he does not act like a sales person. We were able to look around with no pressure at all and setting up a next day delivery was easy as well. We received our mattress less than 24 hours from buying it at our doorstep and we were really happy with the customer service and prices offered at this store.

My little brother moved to Austin and on the way all his stuff got soaked and his mattress started to grow mold. We got gifted a king size frame through a veterans program. I needed to purchase eight mattresses for an out of town construction crew moving to Austin and I needed to have them delivered to an apartment that my company recently rented for the crew. I called several mattress stores but decided to go with Discount Mattress at Slaughter and South 1st street due to having the best prices out of all of the stores I contacted. I spoke with Dillon who is the owner and I found him to be very knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to meet my needs of purchasing and delivering all eight mattresses. The who transaction as well as setting up the delivery was all handled over the phone, which made it very convenient for me because I was not able to leave my job site to handle the transaction and delivery. My crew said that the mattress where all waiting for them when they got to their new apartment and they are very comfortable. We bought a mattress from here about a month and a half ago. Memory foam and so far it has been great. Mike the owner of the store wasnt pushy or overwhelming like many of the bigger stores tend to be. He said he doesnt like doing business that way and it was appreciated. He gave us time to try out different mattresses and lay on them to see which we liked more. Id say the only downside to the mattress we bought was the box spring. Its kind of flimsy and made a loud crack a day or two after we got the mattress. Overall this wasnt a huge deal as we have another box spring anyway. Overall great store and nice mattresses. :)

This place got great reviews. I guess i was just a one off. Travelled on the bus for a little over an hour to go to this place in quite a pinch for a mattress this week right away. Guy was busy with one person (it was ok) they both looked at me when i walked in. However i wasnt greeted and had to say Hello. Guy told me As you can see Im the only one here, the prices are labeled on the matresses Ok...i did a walk through.....then went to the loo to pee as i had been travelling a bit. I never got the chance to ask him any questions about anything. So I left. He said hope to see you again as i was walking out. I said you wont. After all this. I have decided to buy something online. No travel no trouble. I gave two stars because i was able to use the loo so at least that was something.
